Steven Toast (Matt Berry: The IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh) is a RADA-trained actor living in the heart of Soho’s theatre land. Currently starring in a play so controversial that strangers attack him in the street, and living with another middle-aged actor because his wife has thrown him out, Toast’s life is not going according to plan. With the misguided help of his inept agent Jane Plough (Doon Mackichan: Smack the Pony) and his idiosyncratic flatmate Ed Howzer-Black (Robert Bathurst: Cold Feet, Downton Abbey) we watch Toast’s desperate attempts to get the woman, job and life he adamantly thinks he deserves.
