So many fabulous interviews and love the way Holly interviews. She is kind and oh so real. Thank you.

Sometimes worth a listen
Introductions wax on a bit and I just skip over them. Aspects are interesting depending on the guest but only ever scratches the surface - never anymore the wiser on a topic than before.

Patronising tone is off putting…
Just cannot bear the drawn out sing song voice introductions. Didn’t get to the guest.

Face off with Holly & Dr Naomi
Holly asked all the wrong questions and just doesn't really understand why people like to age with some 'enhanced' grace - Felt the Dr squirming a bit and that was
obvious in her answers
Its a personal choice to 'tweak' your face - but it's done for yourself to make you happy , not for others

I usually enjoy this podcast but this episode was terrible! So many inaccuracies and generalisations, a pedestrian conversion with neuroscience catch phrases thrown in. Arrogantly didn’t bother using Australian units or conversions. Please do yourself a favour and see your GP instead.

MID by name, mid by nature
I tried to stay with MID. I really did.
I wanted to believe it was a space for women who care — about life, about culture, about each other, about the world.
Among all the fun girlie interviews and tender ponderings about how women are feeling about themselves and their lives — something just felt… off. Deeply off.
I felt genuinely dissociative a number of times after each episode.
Separated from reality like a 1950s housewife.
At first, I couldn't name the discomfort. I just felt the ick — deep in my gut — every time.
I've always loved Holly's bolshy energy and commentary, but then I realised… that energy doesn't seem to extend anymore beyond the walls of Mamamia or for the people of Palestine.
And that absence — of authenticity, of courage, of humanity — hit me like a tonne of bricks.
See there's a genocide happening, and we are not supposed to only talk about our small little thoughts and worlds every day. Pretending that we are ineffectual.
Mothers are losing their children by the busload. Entire families are being wiped out in Gaza. Children are being amputated without anaesthetic. 2million people are being starved. Children screaming for food till they can’t anymore. Doctors are begging us to speak up, to pressure our leaders to stop backing this horror — and MID, the podcast that claims to have the grown up conversations women deserve. Says nothing and doesn’t not go near the topics that are weighing on so many of our hearts and minds.
That silence? It's not just deafening — it's dangerous.
And lets say it - could there be anything more MID?
Because the truth is: if you care deeply for women and children — for anyone — and you are a peri-menopausal women in her second act, there is no way you can stay silent right now.
And if our friends — the ones who own the media platforms, the podcast studios, the publishing power — don't agree? Then its probably time for discussions like how "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." (Thanks, Dumbledore.)
We don't get to call ourselves feminists while ignoring the mass killing of women and children.
We don't get to "stay light" and "softly on brand" or ‘focus on creating our next phase in power’ while real people are being incinerated and our governments steer policy away from the will of the people.
That's not wellness, That's wilful ignorance — dressed in a matching wide-legged pastel linen set and pretending it's self-care. Or worse: pretending we're "creating a safe little sanctuary" for women, without acknowledging that the world outside that sanctuary is on fire.
'News flash’: We don’t have our ducks in a row, because we are in phase of late stage capitalism and living in a govt engineered cost of living crisis!
For centuries, powerful female community has fought for the truth to not be suppressed under frivolous topics.
Discussing the hard things amongst daily life and joy, is also care.
Complete silence in the face of genocide is not neutral — it's complicity.
History will mark this time and those who spoke will be remembered as those that cared beyond themselves and the true feminist voices of our time.
This podcast isn't bold. It's not brave. It’s not a place of rich conversations for women. It's not healing.
It's just…very very, mid.

Incredible content
“MID” by Holly Wainwright is exactly the podcast I didn’t know I needed. With her signature wit, warmth, and razor-sharp insight, Holly opens up the often-overlooked world of midlife with refreshing honesty and humour. She tackles everything from identity shifts, relationships, parenting teens, body changes, career pivots, and all the messy, beautiful contradictions that come with being a woman in the middle.
What sets this podcast apart is Holly’s ability to make you feel seen. Whether she’s flying solo or chatting with inspiring guests, there’s always a sense of authenticity and grounded wisdom that makes each episode feel like a conversation with a very smart, very funny friend who just gets it.
Highly recommended for anyone navigating the middle stretch of life with curiosity, courage, or even just a bit of chaos. “MID” is a celebration of the in-between—and it’s a damn good listen.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Holly’s emotionally intelligent intros are worth listening to on their own! But her honest conversations and the questions we all actually want to ask are fun, clever, engaging & real.

Mid is Mid
Holly is generally great and I like the perspective she brings to MMO but the intros on Mid are so drawn out I’ve often tuned out before the interview starts. Occasionally I’ve turned it off because I cannot cope with Holly’s screeching. Her voice can be so loud, she often goes from whispery to yelling in one sentence 😬 perhaps some professional voice training would really help. It’s a shame to turn off just because of the way she sounds but when it’s straight into your ears via headphones it’s a LOT

Yawn
Interesting and highly relevant topics, but the fluffy introductions really grind on me… The tone is annoying Holly - not my cup of tea :(
2025-04-20
Relatable - toot toot!
Thanks Holly for interviewing wonderful people like Laraine with her wandering ways. Keep it coming!

Marvellous Mid
Love what Holly has created. So many amazing stories and her summary at the beginning pondering her own life sets the tone. Thank you for creating a space for us midlifers.

Never boring
Anyone that says Hollys introductions are boring is not paying attention. This woman is a brilliant writer and I am always inspired by her words. As well as this, a beautiful and relaxed interviewer who clearly has her subjects trust and the ease at which the conversations flow is a joy.

Why is holly constantly interrupting Rachel Griffiths?

Informative | Engaging | Honest
Holly nails the key subjects for woman moving through midlife. No subject is off limits and I love this approach. Mummy Mia keeps on delivering- thank you ladies - love your work.

Love this podcast
Having listened to a few podcasts aimed at mid life women I thought this one might just repeat similar content but it is quite original. I love Holly’s clever intros, she is a great interviewer and the variety of guests and topics has been so interesting.

Not tin foil cooker Tina
Disappointed that Holly has given a platform to tin foil cooker science denier Tina who tried to pull the people of Victoria down during COVID lock downs. She still blames her son's move to France during COVID on the lockdowns. I'm pretty sure he saw it as an opportunity to escape his tinfoil cooker mum. She is who spews negativity and hate and anti vax propaganda.
When she performed at the AFL grand final there were boos.
Mid? Yes. And unhinged and bitter.

Snaps for Mid and Holly
Thank you Holly for creating this wonderful collection of stories for mid life women. Loved every episode and your intros are my favourite part! Thank you 🙏

About time MID women had a voice
Brilliant show. Holly brings such warmth, humour & reality to a topic that for so long was ignored.

Holly is superb!
Her clever intros & insightful summaries are great. My new go to podcast. Thankyou.

Wholesome jovial goodness
Im 45. Mid. This is my fav podcast. Holly is in her element with poetic intros, spacious and genuine conversations with guests (who seem immediately at ease). When she gushes or sinfully outs herself ‘unprofessionally’ even better! Love her honest and funny human admissions - inability to meditate, love of gardening and parenting in later life. Thanks Holly! Happy Christmas!!

Jo
Full of love for this podcast! The vulnerability, perspectives and lived experiences of all the guests are so inspiring. Thanks Holly. You’re a great interviewer!

Excellent podcast
Holly is the perfect podcast host. Interviews are interesting and easy to listen to.
2024-11-19
Marvellous!
Intelligent, irreverent and indeed anything but MID. Thank you Holly for covering the big issues with nuance and humour.
2024-11-18
Please no more Mia
I would have given this show 5 stars. It’s honestly amazing. But I don’t appreciate having Mia Freedman forced into my ears. I unsubscribed from out loud and no filter for a reason I just can’t do it to myself.
Holly, please, we want to listen to you and your honest, intelligent and insightful show. We don’t want to hear Mia Freedman being a disingenuous sycophant. Don’t let her take over your space, it’s actually really unfair.

Consistently Brilliant Conversations
Congratulations Holly and Mamamia for this genius podcast. Highlighting an age that is previously been forgotten, diminished, faded women into the background of life.
The topics are relevant and painstakingly real. They're well researched with excellent guests. Holly adds a special touch with her introductions. I love how she asks for the stories of others and not only listens but collates and articulately shares. Creating new depths in an online community for women of all ages.

Please keep the episodes coming

Such a brilliantly executed podcast.
Please compile all the sonnets/poems/essays into a book.

A Mid-Must!
I cannot articulate how important finding this podcast was for me. I just love it. I feel seen, and I feel understood and I feel that I am not alone. Holly’s editorials and interviews are just amazing and skilful and kind and empowering, and every guest gives me new insights. My library is growing with all the amazing books I’m learning exist that speak to my experience and open my world up to greater acceptance and even embracing of my mid-ness. I listen to particular episodes again and again when I feel a bit lost or vulnerable, or am needing to smile. It’s an absolute gift. Thank you Holly and team.

A joy
I adore Mid, it resonates with any and every gen x (especially Aussie woman) did I really call myself a woman? The conversations are helping me embrace who I am and who I am becoming. THANK YOU
