Tamika your a brave - I admire you and think your a good human. You admit what you did and your clearly sorry. You didn’t kill her in my view. You were in the moment and she was attacking you as she wasn’t thinking straight. Kirra RIP. I’m so sad your gone to soon.
Love the podcast.

The story telling in this podcast is so unique and well done! Alison is an amazing woman and the compassionate and forgiveness she showed ‘Jason’s’ sister is heart wrenching. Had me crying!! Also Tamika is very brave to come forward and face the music and speak out!! I’m truly invested into this tragic story.

Only stumbling across this captivating podcast very recently, I’m so happy to hear that some serious progress has been made thanks to you, Jamie, (Tom, too) and Allison. Best of luck to you all. This is a favourite podcast. Well compiled, sensitive and insightful. It’s dark and heavy subject matter but Jamie and Tom bring their professionalism and care to the all sides of Kirra’s Story, and in turn facilitate critical thought and conversation on some of the biggest issues of our time: domestic violence, mental health and the human condition. Well done to the team involved!

Thanks for the podcast

This real crime podcast is different to any I have listened to. Firstly it is in the voice of the creators and secondly they are not journalists or private investigators. Jamie was a police office that at one time, shortly before her death, had been called out to a DV situation where Kirra had been living. This case must have been a significant event in his time on the force. It starts off a bit amateurish but it gets better as the pieces that have not been in any paper or news report about this case pop up. They speak to pretty much everyone present on the night or closest to Kirra. Allison, Kirra’s mum, seems a lovely lady and is clearly missing her baby girl. Kirra was a bubbly girl which everyone remembers about her, despite suffering from bipolar. The area in which Kirra lived near Gympie Queensland, known locally as The Gymp, has a problem with unemployment and cannabis use. It is a beautiful part of Australia. I have read some reviews of this podcast calling the people described bogans and rednecks, but each state has their ‘hills people’ that partake in the same interests. Kirra sounds like a very caring person and a fabulous mother and didn’t deserve what she endured. I hope this podcast cracks the case wide open and gets the police looking further into her murder.

Thanks for telling us this story

I'm only halfway through this series but this is one of the best podcasts I have listened to due to its rawness, openness and the realism from the limited post-production editing. This story/event needs to be told so good on you for stepping up and doing it.

Thanks for your genuine & sincere approach to the subjects within this story & the respect you have given Kirra & Alison. Kirra deserves to be known, and the truth behind her death made public for her family’s sake. May the perpetrator of this heinous crime be brought to justice.
On a more personal note - thank you to both hosts for sharing your very personal struggles with mental health issues, and of your personal faith.

This is a very raw podcast with zero filtering. As a true crime podcast enthusiast I just think that little warning is needed here. This is not a journalistic view of a crime. It is a police perspective, hence the rawness. Excellent questioning of all interviewees and made with a lot of care and heart.

Thanks

Jamie & Tom your passion, honesty, transparency, rawness and emotion should be commended.. we cannot do enough to bring DV and mental illness to the fore front of everyone’s minds and priorities. The whole investigation is full of incidental yet significant cautionary tales:
Domestic violence issues
Drug issues
Alcohol issues
The frank discussion between you both in the Tom plog is super helpful on the topic of young men and mental health.
For young women-what an asset to hear this before you meet a jason, or anyone remotely like him.

Brilliant podcasts. Being someone who has just experienced a frighteningly similar experience to Kirra’s story in so many ways and is still going through it in some way until he is finally locked up by qld police or a judge. This really hit home for me. Had me in tears nearly every episode. My heart goes out to her family and friends who have been affected by this monster who had no right to do this or put any of you through this. These weak humans make me sick. Thank you Jamie for putting this story out there. The best podcast I’ve ever listened to. Am looking forward to hearing a positive outcome for you all. So you can all finally have some closure.

This is an outstanding effort by two first time podcasters investigating a tragic set of circumstances in order to provide the family with answers. A significant undertaking given the sensitive nature of the subject matter.
It’s almost as if the work done by Jamie and Tom is exactly what a community would expect the Police to do, that is to investigate the suspicious death of a young woman who died in the company of a man with an extensive history of violent abuse towards his previous partners.
Let’s hope the coroner recommends that Police reopen their investigation, and the person responsible is charged.
