Description
Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Illumination Entertainment's Sing stars Buster Moon (Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal—some might even say delusional—optimist who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. A surprisingly good film that gets better with subsequent viewings. It's such a rare surprise to find a film that is just genuinely cheerful enjoyment for all ages these days. This film is aimed squarely at kids, but I couldn't help but get sucked in by the sweet, but not overly saccharine story and characters. What may at first appear to be a cheap knockoff of Zootopia turns out to be eminently more rewatchable than Disney's message laden effort at social engineering.

Oh my gosh!!, Sing was just awesome. The best animated film I have ever seen!! I loved the whole thing, especially when the gorilla sung one of my favorite songs. I don't have any negative comments about Sing, nor do my whole family. 😀👍😍

We watched this with our daughter and didnt love it. It was ok maybe just rent it as we wouldnt watch it again. Probably we like the Disney originals too much and just like to watch them over and over.

Bad Film Made Slightly Better by Singing

What can you say about this film! An unlikeable main character that seems to keeping his theatre going by ripping other people off. Other characters that aren't explored enough and all the best bits are in the clips already. You can only laugh at the dancing pig once I'm afraid.
The singing is pretty good in general until it comes to the big finale when all the song choices are so bad it has no impact on you at all. For example the gorilla which has spent all the film learning the piano so it can contrast the rough, tough person with the piano ends up singing an Elton John song that just doesn't bring that through. The others are no better either.
I'm not the only one either, my son thought exactly the same.
