Don’t bother using the mcdelivery service. Order turned up with missing items, so as ordered through this app you think they would help. Nope, just a phone number to Uber. Who are clueless when you have to phone them, because their app has no record of the order. So, in the end I spend all day chasing after the missing item. Which in turn make this an expensive burger, because if I am not working I am not earning. So, I am just better off letting them rob my money to value of a cheeseburger, then rob my time at work to earn my wages. Moral of this is, don’t bother using mcdelivery service, just go straight to Uber, or any other app to order food. Because McDonald’s is as helpful as a wet paper bag. Really disappointed, think I will stick to Taco Bell or KFC.

Can’t believe as soon as Summer started app saying need to update. Can’t do this on my old phone so can’t get to my points!!!

The fact that there is no way to resolve delivery issues through the app and that McDonalds fobs you off with a phone number for Uber eats to call if there’s a problem is a complete abdication of responsibility.
The delivery bags from our local store have big cardboard tops that seal with a pull off strip to open so there is no way the food goes missing in delivery.
The food was obviously not put in the bags to begin with so why should I have to complain to Uber eats at all? I pay McDonalds for the order McDonalds should be putting right any issues and then claiming that back with Uber if they were the source of the problem.

Many cases are missed out in the UI UX for the Google Sign up. Worst user experience ever . I am an engineer and not to use it . The case missed out is. A person registers using gmail account and he or she remains his gmail account as the company decides to rename the brand. It is a rare case. But the UI UX engineer has over engineered to remove forgot password and normally how a person will fix his login issues. So so stupid. The UI UX person has assumed tech savvy customers and completely forgot about how normal people use apps.

This app used to be great.
However, one day it logged me out and ever since then I have not been able to log back in. It just goes through a constant cycle of asking me to register followed by ‘you already have an account’
I’ve been asking for some support for about 3 weeks now and not had a single reply. I’ve asked in store, just to draw a blank. I’ve even asked on social media without any joy.
35000 points accrued and I can’t get to them!!!!

I’ve been using the app for some years now, and I’ve been taking advantage of the delivery since has I don’t live close to a McDonald’s. But unfortunately these past few months have been horrendous. From being charged for food which resulted in being cancelled and the payment taken. Missing items which McDonald’s blames on Ubereats. And it’s just ridiculous. Yes I will continue to use the app, but for now on I refuse to use delivery as McDonald’s don’t directly delivered themselves which is kind of stupid. They rely on these third-party clients who don’t wash your hands after going to the toilet and purposely screw up orders. Just avoided mc delivery.

Don’t order with the app, you will not receive your food as the order will not translate to the McDonald’s screen. Then, the McDonald’s will blame Uber eats, and Uber eats will blame McDonald’s. £54.08 down and no sign of a refund, awful customer service and abysmal service- deleting the app and not ordering again.

The app is structured terribly, if you want to spend the points you’ve accumulated they make it insanely difficult and ordering to a drive through is often having errors and problems. The amount of times I have ordered for collection and this app has added random things I haven’t ordered to my order is ridiculous. We ordered a to make it large meals. They were both different meals and two drinks. When the order came to our door. We just assumed it was what we ordered. But it was not. Night left one meal out altogether which was a large meal, so we lost out. There was no way of letting them know because the driver had gone, so we ended up having to order other food to replace what they didn’t deliver. We think another is who I’ve had to use that store from your app that I always get it wrong and we think it should be banned from the list until they can get the orders right thank you very much. Hope everyone else enjoys their meals because we didn’t even get ours properly so happy eating meals from Asda high Wycombe shop, especially if it isn’t delivered properly or at all. Ordered food through the McDonald’s app.
Never can but on the app said ‘ order delivered’ and enjoy your food’ spoke on the app to a digital assistant thing and could only contact Uber eats as this is who they use for deliveries. Phoned Uber eats they said that the driver tried to contact me through the app (there is no record left for myself) i have seen it on the app that the courier tried to contact me I have went outside nobody was outside then it said the deliver will be with you in 2 min … then I got delivered’ still no food and no refund as Uber eats said that the driver on their records tried to contact me so I will not receive a refund from them so I have to contact the McDonald’s I got the food from! They said that it will not be possible as I will have to do it through the app. There is no option on the app where it says food no delivered. There is only bunch of articles with u need to look through and at the end says hope this helped! Great! No food no refund.
McDonald’s app is not reliable as well as Uber eats.

1st time using the app. Turned up with cold, hard fries and missing the food. Tried to contact the driver to no avail. No option on the app to get a refund. Chatted online with the help desk who gave me the number for Uber-saying it was their problem. Waited for 15 mins to speak to someone who told me they can’t help and they won’t do a refund. Phoned my local restaurant who asked me to come down to collect. I explained that if I could collect, I would have done it in the first place. She told me to try the app again. Got no where-phoned the local restaurant again who said they don’t know how the app worked! Said they couldn’t help and I had to go through the app. Went through the app to Uber. End result-I’ve paid £4 for them to deliver £6.00 of food that didn’t arrive and the customer service was atrocious. Spent over an hour trying to sort it out.

A have ordered a few times in the past with no problems. Lately, the food has either turned up cold or not complete. Now, the food temperature is not acceptable nor is missing items. If for instance you order food for yourself and receive what you want and also order a happy meal for your grandson and the delivery contains no happy meal, this is totally unacceptable. For a 3 year old that is looking forward to their happy meal only to find out that they won’t get it is both upsetting and traumatic to them. Upon ringing the restaurant and being told that there is nothing they can do is an absolute joke. The level of service is absolutely disgusting these are the Eastbourne restaurants. Both Lottbridge drove and terminus road ones. It’s not the rider. It’s the restaurant packing the food. They are both too young and certainly not the right attitude for the job. Hiring such an age group like this to save on the wage bill is not the way forward. MISSING ITEMS AND COLD FOOD IS A DISGRACE AND UNACCEPTABLE!!! Ordering it and paying service and delivery fees is expensive. Absolutely appalling behaviour. SORT YOURSELVES OUT.

As a disabled person I cannot always leave the house to collect food. As McDonalds don’t deliver to my home address there are times that if my wife is out, I would want her to collect food for me on her way back but cannot do this with the app as she would have to have my phone with her! Same if I wanted my step daughter to do the same. I would have to call them, tell them what I want, then they order it on the app on their phone, which could be an issue for step daughter as she doesn’t always have the money in her account & no way of using my account to pay for it on her app. KFC & other takeaways have no issue with ordering on my phone & not being there when food collected etc. Shame as McDonald's breakfasts are probably the best on a National level but will miss out on them until they sort this problem out. Also lost all my points that I had gathered because being disabled I wasn’t able to order anything so points ‘timed out’. That could be classed as discrimination against the disabled & Customer Service were of no help at all.

The perfect Valentine’s offer?

I noticed today there was a special Valentine’s offer. Spend £20 get £5- off. Very generous you might think. However in my opinion this type of offer is only suitable for someone who is paying for a family to have a meal. I don’t think couples double date much on Valentine’s Day. Just two people eating would struggle to get a bill anywhere near £20. I would have thought it would make more sense to offer a % discount (equivalent 25% in this case) or buy a meal each get a free McFlurry. There seems to be very little to encourage the lowly lorry driver that probably visits more than most in the country and is a major contributor to your client list. The Monday offers that give extra points aren’t very tempting either. Just trying to let you know. I liked the Halloween series of offers where you got a random offer as I noticed every day friends had different offers to me.

Absolute rubbish. Just started using the app. Made 10 orders in about a month. Then my order doesn’t show up. Says the driver is out side. I went out they wasn’t there. Checked back in the app. Says the driver tried to contact me. I check my call log, they didn’t. My last call was 12 hours before. Check my details to make sure the mobile number was correct. It was. I call the drivers number displayed in the app. This is still only 5 minutes after the order was meant to arrive. No answer. I call again. No answer. For the next 10 minutes I watch the app saying the driver is 0 mins away then it changes to 3 mins away. Then back to 0 mins. Eventually I have to go to work. 1 hour after the order should of been delivered. The app has now changed the status to delivered. I call to complain. Told it will be investigated. Told to wait 48 hours for a response. The response was my complaint won’t be upheld in line with their policy. I mean how dare you. Lying driver that on lowly couldn’t find the house so decided to just say it was delivered should be sacked. Don’t use the app unless you want to get ripped off.

This is the most user friendly ‘food’ app I’ve encountered and clearly a lot of effort has been expended to get it this far. However, there is one element that appears to have been overlooked which will stop frustration on my (& I suspect others) part and that is, when you select a Meal and one of the elements (say a drink) is unavailable at the collection location, I can’t seem to find a way of editing the order (other than deleting the offending meal item & starting again with it, which if you inadvertently pick the same meal again, leads you round in a circle). Is there a way that what is in the ‘bag’ (especially components of a meal) can be individually edited/removed please, especially if it appears the item is unavailable at the pick up location ? Other than that little wrinkle, perfect !

I’m old enough to remember when fast food meant ordering in store and getting your food made within a few minutes. Nowadays it’s more like a 10 minute queue followed by another 10-15 minutes for the food to be prepared desperately watching a screen where your order exists in some nebulous hellscape where it appears and disappears on a whim. What a relief then to find there’s an app where you can order in advance of reaching the store. Brilliant- no more queueing, no more waiting, right? Wrong- for whatever insane reason the developers of this app have decided you need to be within two feet of McDonalds in order to place your order. So, sure it skips the queue but I still have to be stood in the store to order and then wait 10-15 minutes for the food to actually be made. That’s time wasted because the developers live in some crazy, bizarro world where apparently McDonalds can prepare meals in the blink of a gnat’s chuff. 1 star so that McDonalds may actually take note of how much of a waste of time this app currently is. **This review written whilst stood waiting for my meal to be made after having ordered in-app**

I ordered through this app for the first time to which it then stated my order had been delivered but hadn’t been! I thought ok maybe it’s running late, 20 minutes later still not arrived, spoke to the computer assistant on the app which told me to ring Uber eats as it was meant to be delivered by them, they said they couldn’t find me on the system as they were having technical difficulties and to ring back in 24-48 hours in the meantime as I knew it would get to 48hrs and they would say it’s too late for a refund I emailed McDonald’s customer support linked by this app who were much less than helpful! kept asking me the same question and for the same information which I kept giving them, rang Uber eats after 48hrs to be told the same to ring back in 24-48hrs McDonald’s support then told me they couldn’t issue me the refund to which I still don’t understand why! I have proof of purchase to the time and date ect, it has been a week now and still not resolved after another week I can dispute it with the bank as to which who Im hoping will be more helpful than these have been but that won’t be hard to do!!

Use Uber Eats instead!! This app is useless. My 5 orders with this app have either had constant missing items, or not been delivered. After my last delivery didn’t arrive I received a notification it was delivered. But once the order is marked as delivered by the driver, there is NO OPTION in the McDonalds app to see previous orders or get through to customer support. You are forced to either a support line which took 90 mins to answer! And finally a refund and start again with Uber Eats direct on their app. Despite getting a receipt via email, phoning the restaurant direct doesn’t help either as McDonalds just blame Uber and recommend contacting them by phone and Uber cannot be contacted via their app for an order if it was ordered via the McDonalds app. Total waste of peoples time and patience. Take note of Uber Eats app, this is perfect for deliveries and contacting the driver, or help on existing or previous orders. McDonalds, you should be ashamed of this app! You should be taking note of how it is being done well and better. This app and customer service is a disgrace to whoever was paid to build it. Poor Job McDonalds. And I don’t often waste my time writing reviews, only when something makes me livid, like this experience.

I stumbled upon this delightful application when meandering around my local herb garden. I was walking delectably slowly to increase the circulation in my femurs when i happen upon a leaflet discarded in the undercarriage of a basil plant.
I was delighted when I discovered the leaflet for an establishment called McDonalds! I had never heard of the beautiful golden arches before this moment and was struck with a sense of fear over the information i had stumbled upon!
Alas the young whipper snapper in me decided enough was enough. No longer could i go one more second without the McDonalds application deeply implanted into my mobular communication device i had handily stored in my pocket.
I pulled out my phone, gently described to my friend siri i would appreciate her to download such a frightfully delightful application and implant it into the data center within my mobular communication device.
Siri kindly offered to assist in this process and before you could say “i love sunday school” me and my beautiful dog lewis were skipping down to our local golden arches to retrieve some of the most delectable food we have ever tried.

The app itself is fine, as long as you’re ordering food for collection in store and don’t chose the delivery option, which I’ve done twice now before deleting the app for good after numerous issues. Unfortunately the delivery is done by Uber Eats, which is a terrible service anyway, but the fact that McDonalds only lets you use the guest option means that you don’t have a leg to stand on if anything goes wrong. Which happens A LOT, because it’s Uber Eats, which is ran by odious cretins that barely speak a word of English and their drivers (who somehow speak even less English) are absolutely clueless regarding the area.
Last night I’ve ended up paying £70 for one lot of ice cold food where I’ve spent half hour of my own time by trying to locate the driver (who’s been stationary less that hundred yards away from my address the whole time, however unable to describe his surroundings to me due to his language skills being reduced down to words “yes” and “no”). The first order never even reached me, though some extremely rude clown from Uber Eats customer services argued with me over this before putting the phone down on me.
If McDonald’s have some basic common sense then they’ll improve the tracking of orders and switch to a delivery company that isn’t COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT (= NOT Uber Eats!).

At first although the design needs to be simplified and more direct, it worked and I received my points etc. Then returning to the same restaurant not only was staff not trained in the process at the till as I was paying cash but they were rude to me and told me that it doesn’t work yet, which was a lie as I had been there in less than 24hrs and had no problems. This ment I refused to pay and not receive points as they can not be added later. This happened several times until someone knew what to do mainly by me looking at the instructions on the wall put up at the till for staff to use and me pointing out to them what they should be reading themselves.
This app has alot of features but nothing is finalised both in app and the staff that have to process it. Which from such a large company should have been sorted before rollout. This again is people at the top who have no connection to what is really going on just how can they make money for shareholders. Mc donalds is not the same company as when i was younger, it takes so long to get your order now that they have this new system with the number and you wait for your order to be ready, its backwards. Dumbest idea ever, and now there are no menus to see what to order becuase unless you have card then no menu. Even with card its at least 5x slower than before

As someone who suffers from 4 food allergies (Dairy, Soya, Egg, Beef) I find this app absolutely awesome. It’s so easy to look at the allergens in the food without being sent to a website or PDF document, and also being able to see individual item allergens is great as most places just shows the menu item as a whole.
The the ordering itself, the customising is perfect, it means I can order food exactly how I want it and trust that it is going to be made that way without having to shout it all through a drive through telecom and feel embarrassed about it. Before this I would have to ask them all the different things I could have and it was just mega awkward, and it is much that way in other fast food places, so I’ve pretty much stopped going to them all together!
I just love the app and it makes it so easy for me 😄

This app has stolen money from me and nor McDonald’s or Uber will take the responsibility and give me my money back. At the end of the day after reviewing the reviews you are still having a three year old issue.
Your customers are being robbed and you hold no responsibility the packing of the items are done in McDonald’s stores it is not the responsibility of Uber eats to make sure the items are in the packets.
So when I contact McDonald’s and they tell me to contact Uber eats for Uber eats to say the app details and my details are not the same to check my details.
When I go to check the details on my app this app has changed my email to a generic email and the rest of my details are addressed to McDonald’s. So I call Uber eats back and they can’t do anything because it’s in a McDonald’s app and not in the Uber app. THIS IS A SCAM DON’T USE IT!!!!!!!!!!
Consumer rights definitely do not matter when it comes to this app.

Hi do not waste your time using this app it’s a complete joke literally had one item missing from every meal on my order and a one whole meal missing plus two drinks short and no sauces when trying to get in touch through the McDonald’s app it’s impossible to be told I have to do it through the Uber app that I didn’t use so that was a dead end considering you need to press on the order itself to speak about. So I had to ring Uber eats to be told I would receive a refund which is absolutely no good to anyone I’m standing here with kids missing meals and drinks to be giving a refund and keep in mind my refund does not include the amount I paid for delivery or the tip giving seriously just don’t even bother with the McDonald’s app at least if you use only Uber you can select the order and what was missing and not be kept on hold for absolutely nothing.... The app is not letting me enrol for the rewards. Clicking the ‘enrol’ button does nothing. Oh, and selecting ‘app tech support’ in the menu also does nothing, good job guys! All other functionality appears working. The customer support virtual assistant is virtually useless, unless the query you have is completely inane and the answer self-evident. I’m using an iPhone 11, on the latest version of iOS 15.6, and I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app. I’m now stuck unable to use rewards, with no apparent route to get this remedied.
UPDATE: having compared with a relative’s phone and McDonald’s app I’ve managed to resolve the issue myself. In the privacy options I had previously deselected profiling/personalised marketing, and this was preventing me from enrolling for rewards. When I changed the privacy setting the app started working properly - the enrol button worked and the app tech support function began functioning. I’m my view this is still a deficiency of the app because at no stage did it highlight to me that I needed to change privacy options to use rewards.

They have dropped support for my device, which I only found out after an hour of trying to get logged in.
The app is only useful if the store you are going to uses it. My local does not so deleted the app ages ago from my main device. Was heading to a store today that does use it, but now you need to verify the device and the email account is on a different device. Finally got the email across and through spam to find the link had expired. Did it all over again to find that I have to update the app and it doesn’t support my device anymore. Great. Not going to McDonald’s for lunch with the family again.
Secure, I don’t think so. The password requires an 8 to 16 character password which means, if they have a max limit, that it is probably not being stored securely, as anyone knows there is no need for a max length if you store it correctly as a hash value. Why can’t the password be as long as I like (over 8 is fine for the minimum), and allow me to control allowed devices from the account rather than presuming that I have that email account on that device. Sure it fine if you do, but I don’t. So let me authorise a device from my account or at the very least have a setting to allow any device and allow me to de-authorise any device I don’t recognise.

Quick question: what’s one third of £5.19? According to Uber Eats, who do the McDelivery service, the answer is £1.61.
Ordered a quarter pounder meal for delivery. Meal cost £5.19. On arrival, there was only the side salad & orange juice. The burger, in my opinion the main part of the meal, was missing. Attempts to contact customer service via this app just brushed off with a phone number for Uber Eats who are apparently responsible for any delivery queries.
Was told by Uber Eats representative that they would refund me £1.61 for the missing item. When I asked why such a little amount, apparently their policy is to state that one third of the meal was missing so they would only refund one third of the price. An utterly ludicrous rule as the burger cannot be considered an equal part of the meal to the others. I also stated that £1.61 was not a third of the £5.19 charge but was told this was all they could do! I was therefore charged (not including delivery) £3.58 for a side salad & orange juice. Absolute thieves!

The app is good for when I am in the restaurant or picking up from click and collect. My daughter has special needs so it beats leaving her alone at the table to go order our food or if she is having a bad day then we can eat in the car with click and collect. McDonald’s is one of the few foods she eats.
However the delivery side of things is just unbelievably bad. IF it actually gets delivered and that’s a big IF, then it’s cold and a mess. However most of the time it just goes missing which means trying to get a refund through Uber eats. “Getting blood out of a stone” springs to mind on that. Luckily I always pay with my credit card so I get them to dispute it on my behalf. I think Uber eats has PART refunded me once. I will not use the delivery service anymore. I have used it about 4 times and I have had 2 disputes and 2 slow, cold, messy meals.

There were a few gremlins in the early days but the app is now up there with the best. It is so much easier to make your selection before arriving at the location. If I can’t stop because I am driving I will quickly park up in one of the spaces and order before moving to the drive thru. Perhaps you could provide a few preorder parking bays? I can imagine it being a boon to those who have a large family order; helps to reduce the queues for others too.
The offers are great - they are there to tempt you but when your intention is to buy something and it is offered at an incredible reduction it’s a win.
Suggestion: why not allow round up donations, Ronald McDonald House Charity is suffering due to the reduced number of cash sales; we always used to put the loose change in the red box, so by rounding the sale may help, asking for a donation requires a decision whereas by automatically agreeing to a fixed round up might be something customers would sign up to.

This app has to be the most awkward, time consuming waste of everyone’s time. You can create an account, but god forbid you get logged out. You will spend the rest of your time receiving error codes. You cannot re-register as you have an account, but you cannot log in either. If you upgrade to a new phone, just forget it, you will never get the app to work again!!! They are just too big to care. Update! I got a generic response from developer who obviously didn’t read the issue. Suggested I contact tech support, the last time I did, they were unable to assist. I got a new phone, I got it to work again. Then I updated my phone and the ridiculous app logged me out! Now I’m stuck in the never ending loop of you cannot log in as you don’t have an account! But you cannot create an account as you have an account. Spend some money and get a decent development team in place to understand and resolve the issue. It’s an absolute waste of time. You can’t even use the stupid app in guest mode for click and collect. Just delete the app and use drive through or go in. They must realise the amount of people that use the app versus their customer base should show too many people are blocked from using the app. -5 stars. Absolute rubbish app, even worse development team that could care less.

I use McDonald’s a few times a week mainly for coffee as I travel a lot with my job, I used to collect the beans on the cards to redeem for free coffee’s then the app came out which I was reluctant to use but I got used to it putting up with glitches and freezing screen issues while ordering. I then signed up the the rewards add on which was a big mistake as most of the restaurants don’t participate in the scheme, so I’m buying coffee’s and meals and now not getting any points or rewards and the few I did receive isn’t enough to get a free drink, that’s if you can find any restaurants to accept rewards points + the extra hassle of having to scan a barcode to earn points on a app that struggles to work at best. you can which the rewards off in the app but again you lose the few point you may get if you’re lucky. Well done McDonald’s.

I ordered my food and it was an alright sized order but the McDonald’s staff can’t seem to to do their job properly and read the recipes that they are packing and had to wait an hour and a half for the food to be delivered. So I called customer service (which took for ever for someone to answer the phone) and they couldn’t do anything about it because there isn’t an option to get a refund back on the app.
This caused a huge inconvenience because your staff are too incompetent to do their job.
I am really disappointed by the service of this company and the app does not help because you cannot get a refund from the problem your staff created.
Never ordering food from you again because you never seem to get it right! Train your staff properly and this wouldn’t happen.
Also I think it’s shocking that you cannot get a refund through the app because how are people supposed to complain out their food that was not right? Poor customer service.
Do not recommend ordering from the app at all. What is someone had an allergy to something and you’ve just served that food to them because your staff cannot check the food that they are sending out?
I get that places get busy but that’s someone’s money that has been wasted and they cannot eat the food that has been sent.

This is a great App until a mistake is made. McDonalds were unable to honour our order yesterday via the App, and delivered (in sealed bags) our food, minus one item. When we phoned, the store would not take ownership of the error and instead referred us to the App’s customer service. When contacted they were also unwilling to help. Instead of owning the problem they suggested we contact Uber Eats, who McDonalds contract to fulfil their McDelivery obligations.
We were stunned.
The email from the My McDonalds App Customer service team insinuated that the delivery company could equally be to blame and said we should contact them if the delivery was short.
This may be true but we were happy with the sealed bags when they arrived. There was no sign of tampering. Also we know from experience that McDonalds can miss items off their orders.
Anyway, this is a warning.
We were shocked that McDonalds rebuffed our complaints.
We now have to ask ourselves: is this worth pursuing for the price of a box of 6 chicken nuggets? Probably not. However we do want to warn fellow customers of what can happen when what is normally a good system breaks down.
If you are still keen to use the App, we would recommend *collecting from the store* rather than risk what appears to a McDonalds blame culture should food not arrive as ordered and paid for.
And please check your food before you leave!

I downloaded and ordered for the first time this weekend. To my horror, the order that was picked up by Ubereats later showed as delivered on the McDonalds app when it was not! Considering this is McDonalds, a world brand, the app has no direct and real time communication with customer services. We therefore had to phone the restaurant direct and go in person to collect a new order as in store it was showing as the delivery driver had picked it up. I have ordered mcdelivery before but via Deliveroo and Ubereats direct. Apparently, using the McDonald’s app (instead of the competitors mentioned) frequently leads to paid for food going missing. It seems some unscrupulous drivers have noted the poor customer support on this app so ability to report food fraudulently registered as delivered. Thought it my public duty to warn you for a brand of this size, the app is has no effective follow through so inadvertently supports this fraudulent practice.

When I first downloaded the app and register an account I thought it was great. I could just make my order, pay and decide how I was going to pick it up and hey presto I got my order in very good time. I had experienced a few little bugs with it, that pretty much got sorted out right away. Now, well that’s a different story. I’ll keep it short, but basically when I try to make up my order, the app decides to just change each part of it to exactly the same as the rest of the order (so if I order 3 breakfast meals, all the same except for the drink being the same on 2 and the third being different, the app just decides that it will be 3 orders of exactly the same) This means that I have to go into the restaurant to place my order on the screens which means I don’t get my loyalty stamps for the McCafe drinks. Also just recently I have not been able to scan my instant wins into my app (from the latest VIP scheme) even though I was able to scan in the first couple I got. It just comes up we are experiencing technical difficulties and to try later, but still no joy. I know that the last thing is not so much of a problem, as you can just go into the restaurant and use them, but doesn’t that kinda make the app a waste of time?. I have contacted them about these issues, but not really getting an answer.

As a common user of McDonald’s I would collect the free coffee vouchers as I would use numerous stores all over the country for coffees and snac/meals. I started using the app for the offers knowing the free coffees would go to the app. However it doesn’t work well as a system if you are on your own and using the drive through. It is not quicker and easier to use it whilst driving so I lose out on the coffee vouchers by just driving through. Then every time I go to use it the last order never seems to clear fully so it won’t work properly without manually removing the previous order. It always says there is a problem with the payment method even though I drove through for that order the day before.
Also it’s a power draining app as keeps tracking my location after I’ve got my order unless I close the app.
It’s a bit like your new kitchen method, it might work better for you in planning but in real life it’s just not slick enough.

The app deals have consistently failed on my iPhone 12. However my partner has had the same offers on her iPhone SE and they worked. We have ordered together on the various offers. Hers have gone through and after deleting the app, shutting the phone down and pretty much any other permutation of a reset, mine is very inconsistent. We have had her sandwich and she has waited for mine to be cooked therefore resulting in a sub optimal sandwich for her due to waiting to dine together. I have phoned Edgware in the past with reference to this issue. The response has been the app doesn’t fall within their responsibility. Further advance in this matter was directed to “App Tech Support”. E-mail discussion ensued. It was polite and cordial but achieved nothing other than a what felt to be fob off answer of “thank you for your feedback etc”. Very unsatisfactory but matter closed other than this feedback.
My expectations would be to have the offer reinstated. However not offered ANY option!

The app is excellent and ordering in advance and then waiting at a collection point is so easy - my family loves it.
There are only two places where the app falls down for us. Firstly, it doesn’t seem to allow you to order sauce. Some meals allow you to select one sachet, but kids love sauce and with most meals it isn’t even an option. The second occurs when you have your selection saved as a favourite and you select reorder. If one part of your saved favourite isn’t available, the app doesn’t simply just let you change it, you have to begin to order your preference from scratch.
Other than that, the app is fantastic and really useful. It saves a lot of time and saves you the stress of queuing in the drive through.

I ordered using the app and first off they located me 20 miles from a store so had to cancel even though I had changed the settings. So ordered again for our nearest store. Got there and before I’d even made it to the start of the drive thru waited for the app to open. All I had was fries jumping in and out of a cone despite having 3G and a small amount of WiFi from the place itself. Decided to carry on and drove up to a window, still fries jumping, then they asked for my order so I said the order number from the app but because it was still loading they couldn’t find the order so ordered my order through the drive thru. Went to the payment window, paid and THEN it says ‘pick your pick up service’ 😠 too late app, I had to reorder due to your lack of loading. This has happened twice now and each time I have given the app the benefit of the doubt but the bugs haven’t been ironed out so will order at the window from now on. It really is a useless app!!

It’s a good app in principal, but a few frustrations.
It would be good to know before I make an order if the car-drop collection is available at the store. Recently I made an order for the car drop off point. Ignored the long drive through queue, passed the cars to then park up in the designated bay; just about to select ‘I’m here and the bay number’ to then be told it’s closed. Which meant I would have to exit and re-join queue which was even longer. If I knew before I placed order I would have been able to just join the queue for drive through…
Instead I selected in-store collection, which again would have been nice to have been able to have changed my mind, maybe this is a covid only issue but I hadn’t realised I would be waiting outside which when it’s 20minutes in the cold you start questioning ‘fast food’ but would have changed to drive through if I could, as that queue was going significantly quicker!
Lastly my partner has the app, and has different offers to me occasionally, so again in past she had an offer and I didn’t so ordered on her phone, but I was going to collect but was unable to ‘send’ the order to another device so instead I had to take her phone to be able to say ‘I’m here’

When I got to the door I told the lady on the door that I had already ordered so she said you have to wait outside till your number is ready on the screen , I told her I couldn’t see the screen as I’m visually impaired and her reply was I can see it so why can’t you just wait outside , she was really rude to other customers who was outside and waiting too , the manager came out and asked the lady what was happening and she said something back to him which I didn’t hear and the other customers made a complaint and he just dismissed it I also tried to make a complaint and he didn’t even acknowledge that I had spoken , the manager then asked me if I was waiting to order I said no I’ve already ordered and he let me in

The app is great when it works and makes ordering in-store and at the drive thru much easier. However, sometimes when I’ve placed orders that have gone through successfully I have been told at the payment window at the drive thru that the payment was declined (it never has been) and been asked to pay again. Sometimes when this happens they only actually physically take one payment. However, more recently I have had one that’s come out of my bank account twice. I have contacted customer services who are looking into it but over a week later I’m still over £15 out of pocket waiting for them to sort it out. Luckily I have the receipt but would be difficult to prove otherwise.
It’s quite a significant glitch to double charge so will probably hold off using it again until I can be more confident in it.

A useful and convenient app. Works fine at my local drive-thru as long as I keep the app on my phone. If I uninstall it and reinstall it, it thinks I’m a new customer and won’t let me use the drive-thru.
There are two other issues I have. The first is that for privacy and security I’d really prefer to use Apple Pay with the app, instead of having to save a card number to use with it. The second issue I have is that the app keeps tracking my location long after I’ve completed and paid for my order. I value my privacy and I don’t like that. There’s no valid reason for the app to keep on tracking a user indefinitely after their order is completed. The best way I’ve found to stop it is to turn the phone off and on again, but I shouldn’t have to do that. The tracking should stop automatically when it’s no longer required.

The idea of the app is great; set up your order before you arrive, so it should just be a matter of dropping in and picking up your order. Navigating the app is easy enough as well, but this is where you’d assume it would be quicker and easier than just using a kiosk in-store... Wrong.
You do not pay for your items until you are within range of your chosen restaurant, so the app relies on your phones sometimes inaccurate GPS signal to determine this. For me; the app simply wouldn’t believe I was standing in store. With this being the case I had to find a member of staff to put through my order; but it took multiple members to figure out how to actually do this. By the time you get your order, you are asking yourself why you didn’t just use the in-store kiosk. It is still, currently, the quickest and hassle-free way of getting your order ‘fast.’

This app has a painful registration process. I’m not signing up with Facebook or Google, and the app doesn’t support the new Apple signup option to protect my privacy. So I have to fill in the form. NO autocomplete support for the fields. NO password manager support (like 1Password) for creating a password. PASTE has even been disabled. How do you expect us to create, manage or input strong passwords? Oh, you don’t – 16 character password limit, is this 1990?
Also, the font is microscopic, and the user interface is shockingly bad. Who coded this? It doesn’t support native iOS gestures like swiping from the left edge to go back. Every time you go to another app and back to the McDonald’s app (like to WhatsApp to check what your friends want to order) it brings up the promo splash screen again and returns you to the first page, not back to where you were. Why does our postcode HAVE to contain a space? Why do you even need the whole postcode when the first part will do?THIS APP IS SO BAD!!!
McDonald’s don’t care about customer privacy or security, obviously. This stuff is easy. Just do it. (Wrong company slogan).

Too slow, too buggy

When the app works it is ok, but it is far too slow. When you tap on the menu, it takes 20 seconds of loading (on a fast phone and connection) before it appears and is slow navigating through the menu. It is much quicker to order at the till or on the touch screens. It has improved massively since it was first released but the menu navigation has never improved.
I tried to use the app today for an in-app offer and I’m assuming it couldn’t handle the traffic and kept crashing. One of the times it crashed, it logged me out. I ended up paying full price on a touchscreen order and then later I got an email receipt for my app order even though it crashed before it was completed. It’s disappointing because it’s the first time I tried an app offer and it ended up costing me more than I was expecting. The increased traffic should have been anticipated.

So I ordered on the app I wanted to make use of the 99p Big Mac deal for one day only. I ordered 1 big mac and 1 mcflurry and put in my card details thinking its paid for. drove down to the store to be told ive got to pay again and i explained why would i need to pay again when i have already gave away my card details and i did not bring my card or cash to the store for this reason! i was not paying twice!! they were then arguing with me for about 20 minutes saying I have to connect to their OWN wifi for it to work which i found ridiculous as i was already on their wifi and still not working. they were saying its not their fault and its not coming on their till and there’s nothing they can do about it. my order finally went through on the app and they tried saying its still not paid for when it was. they then tried charging me again but double price! i explained i wanted a refund i have wasted my time coming down to the store and came back home empty handed. i’ll never be coming back and as for the app it is getting deleted !!

Fab app it makes ordering so much easier- 5 stars apart from my only gripe which is that the money for the goods is taken before I get to the first window on the drive thru as I've been there before many times and it’s taken longer for the payment to go through via the app than if i just paid with a physical card or cash.
Why if I’m already on site ( the app knows this by using your location) doesn’t the app allow you to actually pay for the food before you get to the window in the drive thru. This would surely allow you to get through that area faster and not have to wait for the tills to catch up. I’ve been asked lots of times to pay twice as the staff don’t think I’ve paid and I have. It’s a little frustrating I have to say.

Awful app, it said to confirm when you arrived and state how you were collecting so I got in the drive through queue and tried to confirm for it to say I couldn’t use drive through for my first order. Why it makes a difference I have no idea. I’m now stuck in the queue, get to where you order food and explained to them to be told it didn’t work for the drive through and I had to come inside. So I had to stay in the drive through queue and wait for everyone in front of me to be served before I could park up and go inside. I then confirmed on the app that I was collecting inside for it to tell me the McFlurry I had selected was unavailable. All you could do was delete what was unavailable you can’t select anything else. I deleted my whole order and ordered inside. I’ve deleted the app, absolute waste of time. I would have been quicker just ordering at the drive through!! Expected much better from a company like McDonald’s

Great App. But What About An ‘Apple Pay’ Option Of Paying?

This app. is very user friendly and is fun, especially when the items fly into the bag on the screen.
It is disappointing that ‘Apple Pay’ is not an option, as this system is solely reliant on plastic cards, and keying in the three digit security number from the back of the bank card (or having a good memory). However, some customers might find this reassuring and feel that this enhances security.
It is worth knowing that systems, such as ‘Apple Pay,’ usually need a correct finger print on the user’s ‘phone or another security mechanism, making it water tight.
Everyone has an opinion, and each to their own, but it is advisable to carry around your plastic bank card if you prefer the app. option of paying and ordering (unless you can confidently remember your three digit security number from the back of your card).
Branches are not completely cashless, and there is still the counter paying option. However, the restaurant self-serve machines are still cashless and geared up for card use and ‘Apple Pay.’
Technology moves on all the time, so who knows? This time next year we could all be paying through telepathic means! 😂

The pre-order does not allow you to collect via drive-thru, a feature which has been “coming soon” for the past 12 months I have had the app. This means that you have to go in to collect the order which has its own issues. Firstly, on numerous occasions it has failed to acknowledge that I was on the premises, requiring several refreshes before it will let you confirm the order. Then you have to pay and await confirmation. Meanwhile, an army of people have came in, ordered on the screens or at the till, paid via contactless (the app doesn’t even support Apple Pay) and received their food, whilst you are still wrestling with the app! Then you wait, and wait, and wait, as they only prepare the food once the order is confirmed - what is the point of pre-ordering???? And despite selecting “order to go”, you still get the order handed to you on a tray. And when you advise that it is a “to go” order, you then get the teenage huff from staff that you are being a nuisance to them.

Ordered using app for the first time, appeared to go through fine. Arrived at McDonalds & app couldn’t tell we were there, using either full strength 4G or their own WiFi. Tried drive thru who couldn’t access order & sent us inside. Queued for ages while retrying the app which connected and let me pay just as I reached the front of the queue, then gave an error. Showed app to staff member and was required to pay for order again at the till. Ordered was prepared by three people who seemed utterly confused and it was brought out on trays without bags or cup holders, because it had been marked as an instore order (even though I had requested take out). Got it bagged up & took it to the car, food was cold by the time we ate it. Checked my credit card app and have 4 pending payments for the order, one for zero but three separate transactions for the full amount. Staff member said the app ordering has been problematic since it was installed, and they’ve only had one day of it working. Great idea but very poorly executed, won’t bother using it again unless reviews improve. McDonalds should pull the ordering functionality from the app until it works consistently.

This is a really useful app - it saves time as you can set up your order on the way to the restaurant, and usually the ordering process is smooth.
Unfortunately there's too many times it doesn't work. Sometimes it just won't recognise when you're at the restaurant. Staff aren't well trained with the app process so they're completely unable to help with any errors, despite error messages directing you to talk to restaurant staff.
The worst thing though is the in-app support team. I've contacted them a few times, sometimes with issues, sometimes with little bugs I've seen that I thought they might want to know about. Every time they've replied with a stock response that has no relation to what I emailed about and suggests they haven't properly read the initial email. Given how often issues are occurring, the quality of support is a big problem at the moment.
I hope the development team spend some more time on testing the whole ordering process, particularly what happens when things go wrong in the real world. If they can clear up the little issues so things work 99% of the time, and so I never have to contact their app support team, this will be a 5 star app.

So I was nearing payday but knew what I had in the bank so when my card was declined at a shop I decided to check my online banking only to find I had been charged for somebody else’s order from London store (I live no where near London) How can this happen? When contacting my bank I found that it had not just been the one time but twice on 2 separate occasions, the first time it happened thankfully the bank declined the request for money noticing it was quite a large amount they requested! I then asked the bank to block them from trying to take anymore money out of my account and contacted McDonald’s to be told that she would rush it through (after all they did take my last bit of money from my account) 10 days later I received an email to say they will honor it although they have no record/proof it wasn’t me ordering! No apology,nothing! I certainly will not be using the app again. DO NOT TRUST THIS APP.

I found there were no time savings with this app- it didn’t place the order until I arrived at the restaurant to collect it as you have to be within so many yards when you press the button - if your driving that’s basically when you arrive. So I still had to queue behind 10 uber drivers - which I thought this would help me avoid - not!! Also cannot change my restaurant I pick another and the order here button is “greyed out”. As I’m still queuing behind delivery drivers I will revert to plan A which is only using chains that don’t accept delivery service collections. Thought this might save McD’s from being binned off like I have BK’s but no that are all long queues of cabs and motorbike riders- takes me half hour plus to get my order - no fast food there. I have tried paying uber eats for the privilege of not queuing food takes an hour to get here and is cold- again not fast food - so I’m out from now on.

Tried out the app to order tonight, was a bit apprehensive as there’s no real instructions as how to order and collect and having read other reviews before downloading the app.
Ordering was quite simple, select what you want and pay. The app gives you an order number then when you arrive at Macdonalds check the app again and select your preferred collection method from the list. If your collecting it from inside (as I did) it then gives you the number that will be called instead of the previous number and they then make your order. Next you just show the server at the counter your phone with the order number on it when it’s called and you get your food, nice and simple!
