Description

Growing up, Chase Carlson never belonged. Not with his family, nor in the small town of Trickle Creek. As soon as he had the chance, he took off. And he'll leave again, too. Just as soon as his father's will is read.

Which is almost too bad, since the cute waitress at the local café is the first woman to challenge Chase in a very long time, never mind the smile that her sunshiny sass put on his face.

Annie Darling's whole life is in her mountain small town. Working two jobs to keep the lights on and provide for the young nephew she's recently become an unexpected single mother to, Annie can't imagine dreaming of more. Even if she had the time.

Plans change when Chase is forced to stay in town for six months in order to protect his sibling’s inheritance. Maybe spending a little time with the sassy waitress is exactly what Chase needs to pass the time until he can put his hometown in the rear-view mirror for good.

Only Chase wasn't counting on developing feelings. Not for Annie, or the little boy she's raising. Never mind the connections he's forged once more with his brothers and sisters after way too many years apart. The stakes are high when real feelings are involved, and Chase runs the risk of losing everything—this time for good—if he can't see what's been in front of him the whole time.
