Description

Robert Langdon returns in Dan Brown's brilliant new thriller, THE SECRET OF SECRETS, available for pre-order now.
The astonishing number 1 global bestseller, featuring symbologist Robert Langdon.
Florence: Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon awakes in a hospital bed with no recollection of where he is or how he got there. Nor can he explain the origin of the macabre object that is found hidden in his belongings.
A threat to his life will propel him and a young doctor, Sienna Brooks, into a breakneck chase across the city. Only Langdon’s knowledge of the hidden passageways and ancient secrets that lie behind its historic facade can save them from the clutches of their unknown pursuers.
With only a few lines from Dante’s Inferno to guide them, they must decipher a sequence of codes buried deep within some of the Renaissance’s most celebrated artworks to find the answers to a puzzle which may, or may not, help them save the world from a terrifying threat…

Appalling rubbish

A story so unlikely and bizarre that I didn’t even have the enjoyment of the images of the cities in which it takes place. Just nonsense

Brilliant!!!

Typical Dan Brown at his best. Twists and turns, deceptions and illusions, the book keeps you guessing all the way through.

Inferno

Robert Langdon, the American history professor, once again leads the reader on an white knuckle adventure to expose a sinister scheme that will shake the foundation of the world. Attacked and chased by villains from start to finish, from City to city and country to country. With assistance from a mysterious and attractive young doctor, Sienna Brooks, Langdon discovers the mysterious new technology which threatens to destroy the human race or make it invincible. The whole scheme is inextricably woven into a series of events or coincidences that relate to the famous novel by Dante Alighieri, The Inferno. An irresistible mix of art, travel, power and drama. I thoroughly recommend this novel. 200 out of 100.

Inferno

Riveting thriller from start to finish. Having been to Florence & Venice for me made it even more real. Dan Brown has a way of making you feel you were right there! Loved every page. *****

Needs better flow

Found book interesting but at times there were too many in-depth history lessons to build tension for a fast paced thriller type novel. Found it annoying.

Inferno

Interesting concepts, and really enjoyed the thrill of the chase with its twists and turns. However, all the descriptions of buildings and artifacts in Florence and Venice and Istanbul got wearying after a while. Maybe you have to know those cities to get really involved. Much preferred his earlier books.

I couldn't get into it at all, hard to concentrate on and just weird.

Inferno

This book is another Dan Brown fast-paced and exciting novel. Again a book that is so hard to put down. He is brilliant in creating a theoretical backdrop that is so engaging and utterly believable. He weaves into this a knowledge of people, places and objects d'art that I have the need to go and experience personally. Well done and thanks Dan and Robert Langdon for another unforgettable adventure.

Red hot Inferno

As usual Dan Brown has written a brilliant action tale that puts you right in the thick of it from the first page.. A little tiring in details towards the very end but absolutely loved it and have recommended it to all I know!!

Inferno - Dan Brown

Another great novel from Dan Brown. I don't get to read much as I am a slow reader but his books seem to whiz by. As I turned the pages he painted a picture of all the wonderful places visited in the book, you could almost smell them. It does get your mind wondering and will no doubt have its usual critics. Can't wait for the movie.

A bit clunky but nonetheless a good read. Some nice twists in the plot. I liked his other books more.

So sad!

Well-researched, a dazzling showcase of author's erudism in art, history, architecture. A must have if you're after a tour book.
An interesting story, but you have to have the patience to wade through a myriad informative but irrelevant, distracting, annoying verbal diarrhea, just like being in Dante's Inferno.
I loved you, Dan Brown. I did not think you needed an ego massage device such as this. I only wanted a good story, not a European tour.
So sad!

Thanks

A great read as always Mr Brown. Thank you for intriguing me and teaching me more about history. The story deals with some very real issues facing our world today and provides an interesting way of dealing with said problem.

Tour of Florence

Let yourself get sucked into the story and enjoy the views of Dante's Florence and a few other amazing cities. It's a story and if you like the other Robert Langdon books then you will probably like this one too.

Awesome fast paced adventure

Twists, turns mystery and adventure. I couldn't put this down. If you loved DaVinci code and were disappointed with Lost Symbol like I was, then you'll be pleased with this latest Langdon adventure.
Well done Dan Brown!

Interesting ideas

Dan Brown has some interesting ideas with up to date science and historical ideas thrown in. The fast paced action mixed with reveries of the past kept me intrigued until the end.

You decide the morality

A morality tale that leaves it to the reader for the most part. Some nice twists and turns that aren't too predictable, but far too much travelogue information about Italian cities and works of art. We've got Google now Dan, we don't need the encyclopaedic summations. And the whole "male lead with attractive younger nubile female assistant" is getting a bit passé.

True to the formula

The series definitely has a formula to it. I still found this one a quick fun read. Parts were predictable, yet I still found myself wanting to see it through to the end. Dan does a good job of conveying the visual elements allowing the reader to experience the settings easily in their imagination.

Inferno

Probably one of the most aggravating books I have read. If I wanted a travelogue I would have bought one. Take out the history lessons and there is very little substance.
Definitely sold on reputation. It reads like a screenplay complete with notes.
Dreadful. Ridiculous.

Twists enough to keep the story moving at a steady pace. Great, thought provoking theme provides a tension that will force readers to consider the greatest challenge facing our not to distant future.

Too pre-occupied with detail on locations and not with the characters or plot. Still a good read but he has definitely written better stuff.

Loved it with a li'l disappointment

It is another dan brown classic with running, hiding, and exciting code deciphering journey.this time Langdon travels in Italy to beat a master mind. Full of twist n turns of events where it's difficult to recognise who is the frnd n who is foe. But the ending could have been way better. I highly recommend the book to all adventure lovers!

Wonderful book!! Love Dan Browns books and this one tops it off!! This is my first e book.... Might be a convert . Would have been good if there were pictures of the places described like there was in da Vinci code. (Is there in the hard version?) . Well done

Not as good as I hoped.

It was readable, towards the end, when Mr. Brown stopped using ?! After every thought or revelation on almost every page. Sorry Mr. Brown, I suspect the editors are scared of you otherwise we wouldn't have had to deal with all those ?!. Mr. Brown, constructive criticism is a good thing, embrace it.
Editors, he may bring the money in, but we pay to read a good book that has been edited properly. It won't be long before we all stop paying $12.99 for a poorly edited book. No matter how famous the author is.
Otherwise If you really want to read it, borrow it from the library.

It might have been bareable...

It is a relatively promising read were it nor for the constant interruptions of the unnecessary descriptions of architecture, frescos, sculpture, walls, porta-loos, clothing, hair styles etc. It's literally like having a verbally diarrhetic tour guide banging on at you at every single step of a journey you can't make sense or reason you're actually on because they can't shut up.
Mr. Brown...YES! We understand where we are, who we're with and so on. We understand authors do research. It's not history dissertation we're reading...it's supposed to be a thriller. We do not need to know every last detail about what you dug up while you were writing this to necessitate having to dart back a page or two every five or so to remind ourselves what's actually happening in the story. This insistent detail completely ruins the reader's focus on what's actually going on.
I'm 200 pages in and can't actually be bothered to go on. If you're new to Dan Brown, I would advise reading Angels and Demons and stopping there. If pressed try Digital Fortress.
Very, very disappointing. I hope the bad guy wins and wipes Langdon out so we don't get suckered in to reading more of this tripe. It's apt that this book is based on a journey through Hell into Paradise. Reading it bares remarkable similarities. At the moment it is Hell. Putting it down will be sheer heaven.
Enjoy my $12.99 Mr. Brown. If I could get a refund I'd ask for one!
SPOILER
Side note - As a Brit, you're persistent obsession (those in the know will get the pun) with Harris Tweed, is the only accurate cultural observation in the book. You are correct. We are globally recognisable by the fact that we all wear Harris Tweed. Cradle to grave. My dog even has a tweed collar and lead.
