Took a while to get into it but was good in the end.

Great book as usual from Ms Cornwell, my only critism is it seems to have an unusually large amount of padding. I was able to skim a few pages and not loose context of story. Looking forward to the next book.

Slow to start but once it's going and the story unfolds it sets a cracking pace. After the slight disappointment of her previous effort this is Patricia Cornwall back to something like the brilliance of her early works. Worth the money but stick to it through the slow early chapters and you won't regret it.

Don't bother with this book. Kay Scarpetta is portrayed as arrogant; the book is all about how smart and very clever she is. Very tedious and a waste of money.

Another Patricia Cornwall masterpiece, twisting and turning then reaching an unexpected conclusion. Have read EVERYTHING she has written and loved them all, she cant write fast enough for me. This is an outstanding book one of her best in my humble opinion, plus a huge surprise to witness the demise of a well known character in several previous books, will not name the person as this review may be read by someone who has not yet read the book. I read it as an eBook which added to the enjoyment, a much cheaper price than you normally pay for a new release and love reading on my iPad opposed to an actual book.

Highly recommend "Red Mist" to any Patricia Cornwall lovers and to anyone yet to experience her masterful writing style.

Really got me hooked and I was enjoying being in the grips of a good story when disappointingly a major part of the plot was revealed rather early(obliquely) - it wasn't a very original twist either. Still enjoyed the read but found that she galloped through the part of the big reveal/solution instead of filling it with suspense and tension...

Although I have only read the first chapter I am beginning to really dislike the protagonist Kay. The character speaks highly of herself and is constantly reminding readers how important and upper-class she is. It's like listening to someone brag, brag, brag!! However should Cornwell write in third person rather than first readers, such as myself, could tolerate the character's ego. But then again Cornwell is American writing for an American audience who are infamous for their egotistic disposition. I'm sorry but it's kinda true.

Much better than the last few Scarpetta novels. This one has a good story line that you can get involved in; Kay is still a bit too self absorbed to be truly likable, however the support characters and the setting improve the overall story. I will keep reading hoping for the "meaty" earlier style of story.
