I don't mind admitting that I struggled initially with the concept of this book and was unsure, after reading the preview, whether to continue - as a mother I found the subject matter quite disturbing. However, I'm really glad I bought the book and read it - it's so beautifully written and the little boys narration is brilliant. Enjoy!

I absolutely loved this book. The language used to describe the room, the outside from a child's perspective was just brilliant! I can't wait to see the movie and if they're able to translate jack's thought processes onto the big screen.

Busy raising my 10 month old who is too easily distracted when feeding I have not had the opportunity to read a novel in almost a year. I was listening to Emma Donoghue on ABC Classic talk about 'Room' and just had to read it. I'm so glad I did. What a fantastic read.

So clever having Jack a five year old boy narrate the story of such horrific circumstances. A more beautiful portrayal of the mother son bond would be hard to find. This novel is written with such intelligence and dexterity it feels 'for real' and avoids the sensationalism that the media and other creators of fiction often give to this type of subject matter.

I'm almost sorry I've finished the book because I started missing Ma and Jack as soon as I read the last word.

So well written from the child's point of view.

Interesting in its concept I found this story to be at times both heart warming and incredibly disturbing. Jack was cheeky, charming and believable. Ma, who seemed so together whilst in "room," seemed completely clueless and selfish on the "outside." I don't mean to sound harsh, but I didn't read it one sitting, put it that way. Neat5734

It is a but slow to develop,and it's a bit hard to get used to reading from the point of view of a 4 year old. But as you read on it just gets better and better, and is completely captivating! This is a great read

Couldn't put it down. Great hearing it from the innocent perspective. I was sad when I finished it because I couldn't visit with them anymore.

This book is amazing. It really is from Jacks point of you... You begin to understand how a child thinks and sees things. He is a very vivid character. In the climax of the book, my hands were literally sweating from nerves! I couldn't put this book down! Read in in just over 2 days. Very clever!
