Notifications

Updated- new version just released has fixed this bug. Original review- Since last week I have a ‘1’ showing that there is one notifications and it will not go away. There must be something with the new version as it started last week

Me too!

I cannot get rid of the “1” red new notification icon even though there are no new notifications. I also tried reinstalling (and have the latest version) and restarting phone. Incredibly frustrating because you need to keep checking in case there is actually a new notification!! This has only happened since the last eat version upgrade, prior to that I had never had a problem.

The notification badge is still there

There are no new notifications and the badge will not disappear. I have uninstalled the app, turned off my phone, but it doesn’t fix it.

The badge is just sitting there and annoying me. There are NO new notifications and it just doesn’t go away!

Notifications Broken

Notifications do not work. No banners. No badges. Nothing. I’ve missed important school messages because of this fault, and delivering school messages is the entire purpose of the app!

Also the app does not rotate to landscape mode. Documents are therefore too small to read in the app and have to be downloaded.

Hate this app the school mandates.

Fundamental flaw

There is a fundamental flaw (at least in my observation) in this app and not sure how this app even got passed on to the store.

You cannot add news from two different years from the same school. For example if a child attends year 4 and another child year 2 from the same school. You can never get news feed from both.

Crashes

I have had to delete and reinstall multiple times as it crashes and can’t be recovered. Even offloading and reinstalling doesn’t work. We waste a lot of time with this, not sure why our school moved to this app when the other one was just fine.

What an awful, clunky, slow app. Why would schools choose to use this? Constantly crashing. Very un-user-friendly. Very frustrating.

11/12/19 have had constant contact from the support team to try and resolve the issue and they have found what was wrong. New update seems to be working as per the norm

There is lots of room for improvement

The school moved from another app (SkoolBag) to this. Having used another app, it shows all the places where this app is lacking:

1. Every single notification just says “school has sent you a message”. No details, meaning you’re forever opening the app, looking at the notification and in 90% of the time realising it doesn’t relate to your child’s year.

2. Every time you open this app, it starts off by saying it isn’t connected to the internet. Doesn’t matter if you’re on WiFi or 4G.

I wish the school hadn’t moved from SkoolBag. This feels like there was little usability testing done.

Garbage

You can’t use the app if you don’t register, fair enough. You have 1/10 of a second to hit register before it takes you to the search screen. If you miss it, like I did the numerous times I tried, you can’t add the school.

A good start

While the app prints newsletters well, the lack of an in-app contact link to the developers is very strange. More problematic is that the iPhone version has no way to increase the font size (this function only appears on iPad) which means the text is far too small to read and renders the app useless on an iPhone.
