Be great if it could change to an iPad function, with the ability to work in landscape as well as portrait orientation.

Frustratingly Buggy App
Frequently have to force quit the app and relaunch as after about an hour the app can’t send commands to the cooker and won’t load recipe changes. It manages to show the cooker’s status reliably, but for some reason these other vital features only work briefly on first run.

Metrication
I was surprised to find that all of the measurements are in the obsolete imperial system. Even the British have move forward to adopt the much more logical metric system.
If the developers of this application could include temperatures measured in degrees Celsius the majority of the world would find it much simpler to use.
Thank goodness the Competition are not backward in using International measurement units, such a joules.

Please fix the timer!
I used to enjoy this app a lot but in the past year the problem with the timer still hasn’t been resolved! The timer begins counting down despite not having reached the set temperature. This never happened when I first started using the app back in 2017! My app is up to date so what gives Anova!!! Why can’t this simple problem be resolves.

Please utilise the auto rotate feature of the operating system. I have an external keyboard, which requires landscape mode.

Wifi issues
I can’t connect to my Pro model. Keeps asking for a PIN then goes in circles. I can see others had similar issues but was fixed with updates. Sadly the last update still didn’t work for me.

Fixed connection issues
My original controller was plagued by dropped connections making me wonder why I spent the extra on the wifi model when I couldn’t use the features. Fast forward a couple of years and app updates seem to have sorted the connection issues and I’m now happy with my Anova. Would like to be able to read reviews on recipes within the app instead of just seeing star rating but other than that I would recommend.

Shockingly bad app!
Does not work with Anova Pro!
I’m amazed they have even released this to market!
The app is so useless and glitchy when I first used it I assumed there was something wrong with the unit and was going to return it.
It doesn’t connect using my iPhone (11 pro max) but for some reason will work with my iPad. It requires me to link and set up the connection EVERY TIME I turn the unit on. So I have to create the code, then enter my wifi password and pray like hell it will connect which 8/10 times is doesn’t.
It either can’t find the unit, or the connection drops (high powered router is in the same room and all devices are up to date.
Given how completely useless this app is, you’re better off just referencing the recipe you want and entering the temp and time settings manually.
All I get are error messages and the “something isn’t right” page which also doesn’t offer any solutions. There is a try again but which does nothing
I must stress that the unit is excellent but this app is nothing short of disgraceful. If you are purchasing this unit and want the app as a feature then look elsewhere. I’m so dark about it I may still return the unit! I can do better for less money.

Only had two Anova’s (ie no other brands) but wrapt. The firdt was BT only and although the unit worked well wasn’t enthused with BT. It is now the backup to a Gen 2 WiFi model. Love the idea of SV but still trying to perfect the finishing steps. I seem to overcook whilst trying to sear. Still, I haven’t had a BAD SV meal yet.

Device works well. App gets in the way.
The Anova sous vide cooker does a wonderful job of cooking fantastic tender foods. The app, meant to be a good companion to the device, seriously gets in the way.
You can’t have more than one app connected to the device. If another user wants to cook a recipe, you need to reset the device WiFi.
WiFi connection is slow and problematic.
You can’t look at your recipes without being connected.
Often when you try to load a recipe, you end up with a spinning icon waiting to load the recipe, for minutes or even tens of minutes at a time.
This is a real shame, as the concept is great. It is a pity the execution is so poor.

The device itself is fine, the app is an absolute waste of time and energy and makes the while experience more annoying and frustrating than cooking deserves to be. Never connects. Delete, reload, delete again.
And why the need to log in just to use it? Fix it or ditch it.

Everything else is great just takes time to get Bluetooth working and connected. Otherwise hasn’t let me down yet.

Hardware excellent but iPhone App is horrible.
Interface put me back to the horrible early days of APIs. Inconsistent dialogue is just plain awful to use when there is no need to be. I consistently have to switch off and start again to adjust time just one of my grips. I’ve no idea who designed the interface but I’m figuring it was an engineer, not someone with any understanding of how humans interact with machines via API. I’d be happy to do everything manually but even that modus operandi is clunky.

Rewrite killed it
About a year ago the app was clearly rewritten and badly.
The basic functionality of controlling the device has never worked quite right since. It is a buggy, unreliable and badly designed piece of software and I would not recommend this to anyone until they fix it.
It has been a year at least so I’m not holding out hope for that.

Great device, let down by poor app
Overall layout is nice, integration of community recipients is a nice touch, however there are several bugs present in the app. For example cannot delete recipes on user profile - it updates and nothing actually deletes.

My Anova is amazing! The new app not so much!
I’m using the new version of the app for the first time and I prefer the old one, I’m having issues connecting, I have to keep setting the timer over and over. And is not as user friendly to navigate and find things like it was before.

Improved connectivity but what’s with timer?
Love the product. Love the vastly improved connectivity. Previously, the Wi-Fi connectivity was painful, so I was often forced to rely on Bluetooth which is less than ideal. But those issues seemed to be resolved.
What’s baffling is the timer. Precise temperature and timing is everything but why does the timer not begin when the water reaches optimal temperature?

Why the previous app has been changed with an app that just does not work is baffling. We have resorted to operating our Anova manually as Bluetooth only connects rarely. Whoever was responsible for this should be sacked!

Love my Anova, hate the app
As much as I love my Anova the app makes my head hurt. It’s as if they deliberately set out to make things difficult. Would have preferred some simple buttons that work intuitively in the machine - I hate design where form trumps function.
. Every time I open the app it takes me ages to work out exactly how to start the cooking because it insists on showing me other people’s recipes. Is it so hard to make the Anova, and not other people’s instructions the main feature of the app?
The timer doesn’t work - it never turns itself off, just beeps, which is useless if you’re not home. The wifi connection is constantly lost and the interface is terrible.
Honestly, the more I think about it the more angry I get about the user interface. Crying out for a fix, which is vaguely promised but hasn’t eventuated.

Frustrating app
I cook two things. Eggs and chicken breasts. Simple. If it can connect, works fine. But my main issue is with publishing my own recipe for rehearing my cooked chicken. I publish, I go cook and suddenly there’s no timer. Ok, I set the timer. Now the temperature is completely different. Instead of the water in pot, my blood is boiling.
How can this be such an issue? Why does it change every time I want to use it? Please fix!!
Also please fix the connection issues and water issues. The water goes below min, it stops. Ok I fix but now my timer is reset and because of this I need to take screenshots to remember when it started! That’s completely unnecessary!
Great results by the product but very frustrating to use.

Good recipes but needs metric (Celsius) support
The app connects to the Anova cooker easily, and it’s really easy to start cooking simply by tapping a recipe on the app. But sometimes I just want to use the recipes as a guide, and adjust temperatures manually. It’s very annoying for non-US users to try to convert Fahrenheit temperatures to metric. The app should have a settings option to choose either metric or old units, and then the recipes should be displayed in the chosen units. Same goes for weight measurements. Using grams is so much more accurate than cups and quarts and ounces.

So it all works as advertised. And yes, you can set the device to Celsius. But the app, with all the guides and recipes, is only in Fahrenheit. What is the point of being able to set the device to Celsius, if all the cooking instructions remain in Fahrenheit???

It’s great
So here’s the thing, this device is really reliable and accurate. Although some people say the connectivity can be troublesome, my Anova has never taken longer than a few minutes to connect. I’ve used it to cook a variety of foods so far from puddings to stake and they’ve all turned out great. They’re not that expensive either so I would definitely suggest getting one. The anova app may be somewhat limited in terms of recipes but there are SOOOO many things you can sous vide. I suggest watching chef steps
