Buggy as hell

Really hard to bring up the menu. Does the long press have to be an exact duration or something that’s impossible to figure out?! And when I tap on my new book in the library, the closes (goes into the background) every time. The only thing I can read is the Getting Started guide. Utterly useless!

I really need ADE to work as I’ve purchased books for uni. Worked five months ago, now it just crashes as soon as I try and open a book. iOS and ADE are up to date - now what??

How bad could it be...?

Very. Very bad, it turns out. I saw all those reviews and thought "surely it will do just enough", but holy ffff. How can Adobe leave their name attached to this? My books display in baffling columns, filling only a third of the screen. And that's at best. We're talking three words per line. Utterly hopeless. Put this in the bin.

Keeps shutting down

App keeps closing when trying to open a book. This was the only option to be able to read the book. If this was fixed the app might be worth it.

Awful.

So so awful to use. Not user friendly at all. Took so long to work out how to log in and get my book into the app then once I finally figured that out the app won’t open the book, just keeps crashing. Avoid if possible!

I really don’t get what all the negative reviews are on about. It works great for me! I like the ability to highlight, the time I’ve been reading. UI is simple and clean. Can’t fault it.

Terrible

I have downloaded one book from a digital library that has worked. One!! Every other book has blank pages throughout, except for a random photo that is visible. Terrible app.

Ugly, cumbersome and almost useless

I despise that my library requires use of this lazy, clunky app. Its like they slapped up the bare minimum then corralled all the licensing for eBooks etc and said “stuff it” we don’t need to improve this we’ve got the market cornered.

Doesn’t work!!!

Very frustrating I need this app to read my textbooks for uni and nothing works as soon as I try to go to a chapter the whole app freezes and doesn’t restore itself!!

Slightly better than my alternative

I recently bought a textbook from eBooks.com. As far as I can tell the only two ways I can access it from my phone (iPhone 11) are through the app of that website (which is ugly as hell and for some reason blurs the pages when zoomed out, in addition to having most of the same problems this app has) and through this app, which is slightly better (for my purposes, at least), so I’ll go with this one but I’m not exactly happy about it.

Only reader available for Uni readings and it doesn’t work

I am joining all the other reviewers saying this just doesn’t work on an iPad. I need to use this apps for uni and it’s unusable. Constantly getting error notifications. Total garbage

Went from page 94-104. Cannot view the pages in between. One page of a book doesn’t fit on the iPad screen. Cannot stress this enough if you’re buying a book for this app - DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

An sad little application clearly forgotten by Adobe. They certainly don’t seem to be reading these reviews. Maybe it earns little revenue, maybe they don’t care. Who knows, but we are captive to its many tragic charms because so many libraries make it the only option. Please Adobe, put us out of our misery with an update, or at least let us see more than one page at a time.

Book says it’s downloading but doesn’t appear in the app despite it being installed and an Adobe ID being authorised. It shows on the bookshelf within the Safari tab but won’t go to the app. Useless product and the help section is unhelpful.

Cannot Delete Books

Not smooth at all! lots of bugs! Freezes and far too slow in responding. This I'm sure is a simple fix.

Absolute garbage

I agree with other users - this app is a piece of garbage. Even the help document from Adobe does not correlate with what is in the app. Any company that exclusively uses this reader for their product is crazy.

A collection of snapshots of a page would be more usable than using this app. At least with a number of images I would not get the grey page/block which pops up now and again to block most of the page.

And yes, there is no way to change text size.

Cannot download books onto IPhone. App works on MacBook Pro but not as well as it did on my IMac from years ago. Very disappointing as I have a large library of ebooks. If I could give zero stars I would. ☹️

This app is broken

Cannot access book via iPhone XS and Adobe support are a waste of time.

I have no choice but to use digital editions as the subscription from AXELOS requires it to access the content. Ironic that the content I need this app to access is on service management.

One time user

First time I’ve ever downloaded an e-book and this is my experience. I installed ADE on my Windows10 device and it works fine. I downloaded it on my iPhone XS, noticing the one star average, but proceeded anyway. After all, I haven’t got time for reviews.

Can I just say, along with all the other one star users, the app is horrible. I thought it was just me, until I remembered the rating. I cannot believe this is an Adobe product. I wouldn’t have used it if the e-book I downloaded didn’t require me to! Unbelievable in today’s day and age that an app so unreliable from a quality brand exists. Shame on Adobe and shame on me for not just buying a hardcopy book instead.

Worst book reading app ever

My library requires this app to read its ebooks. The font sizes never work - either too big or too small and the font size changing tool doesn’t work.

I made the mistake of purchasing an Ebook that requires me to read off this app. The smallest text is still huge so there’s like 20 words per screen, and there’s no scroll function so I’m having to swipe pages every 5 seconds. What an awful idea to make people who purchase books be forced to use this program.

Once books are downloaded, can't open the books, can't delete the titles once expired, nothing in settings that shed any light on usage, no in app help, don't bother, save yourself the angst.

What a poor App

Full of bugs and dysfunctional. You’d think Adobe would know what they are doing in this space but this is a massive fail. I’ve downloaded and reloaded, authorised, deauthorised and reauthorised and tried private and public wifi but it just won’t download books. Given up and deleted and found a reader that does work.

Embarrassingly bad...

Worst reader I’ve ever used. Bought an online textbook that would not allow Kindle or IBooks and makes you download the App. It works ‘okay’ on Mac computer, but is horrendous on iPad. The page number won’t change. The table of contents link won’t work to take you to a specific page. I’ll be on one page, move one page ahead, the page number won’t change but it skips ahead to a random page in another chapter. Was so frustratingly awful I almost threw my iPad out the window but alas, Not iPads fault.

Whoever built this app should be ashamed. Work harder to get a product to at least work, if not have the functionality of iBooks.

Worst reading app

I don't normally do reviews, but this app is by far the worst reader that I have used and unfortunately stuck with, because of some stupid licensing arrangements.

Every time I turn a page it goes to another random page, all my highlights keep disappearing, can't turn a page properly, chunks of the book disappear and the list goes on.

Try and avoid this app at all costs, it is rubbish.

This app is so poorly designed that it’s hard to believe Adobe put their name on it. Amateur interface, impossible to sync through devices, crashes and so on.

Do the app developers even care?

I can read this off my laptop just fine. But I tried using the app for reading but it’s hard to read when the actual app doesn’t work. After seeing how many review express how terrible this app is the developers don’t even seem to care to address the problem. Perhaps you’ll have a larger interaction with your app if it actually functioned.
