The official MyTranslink app is the perfect Queensland travel companion. Travellers and commuters can intuitively plan with real-time public transport information whether travelling by bus, train, ferry or tram.
The app also makes it easier to personalise travel information and favourite frequently used stops. Other app features and benefits include:

Developers who don’t use public transport?

Took me half an hour to figure out. Map takes over the screen. Click hide map every screen.
Going backwards in time for the train you are on is a nightmare.
I’ve been spoiled with TripView in Sydney and Melbourne. Finding an alternative.

It gets you there.

The app works for it’s main goal (I take you from here to there), but some times in the most inefficient ways… but it still takes you from point a to point b. There are times where it feels like it wants to rob you of every single penny you got by giving you Christmas light bus work even though two buses will get you there and sometimes it wants you to walk a marathon even though the bus you want is 5 minutes away from the stop right next to you. There are multiple buses that take you to the same location (some better than others) and it can pick the worst ones and not mention the better ones. I’ll give it 3 stars because it still gets you there but I recommend looking at the buses and planning your own route or know the buses and where there going and take them if you see them while waiting if they go to the same location.

Future feature?

It’s a good, but why can’t to add your GoCard to phone App to Tap on? Saves having to carry your card and another less piece of plastic.

Inaccurate results

While useful to plan a route this is very much inaccurate. Several times in the past week it’s given me results with long waiting times between buses and train changes but magically a train appears and I hop on. Other times the bus service doesn’t show up.
Also the route options make no sense. Option 1 always seems to be to take one bus and walk like 2km! No thanks, I would rather take the bus and train to save 20 mins on my journey.
I mean, if there were more frequent public transport services then I wouldn’t need to use this but that’s a whole other issue!

Stop your fing shlt

Put up actual signing of your ganna change the bus stop every day. Legit walked passed every bus stop and the only one said I was at the right stop after 9pm… busses still don’t stop though. Worked a 14 hour shift knowing the busses were wrong and still couldn’t figure it out, guess I’ll sleep when I’m dead. Love that it was the last bus too. F you all

remove it from the store

If need to be somewhere on time - dont use it. Im walking and not running in between bus station. There is no bus signs on the route. Thats why people tell driver to stop earlier than need. I am trying to use it for a month because locals keep telling me xD but find it useless. Maybe only to see bus route. Very very bad. Product owners should try to use buses instead of car to see all problems of this app.

Wrong time schedule

The time schedule of bus 740 shown on the app was wrong. It showed 4:30, but actually it departs at 4:45. The bus arrived at 4:32 but did not depart until 4:45. If I had known, I would have caught the earlier bus, as I thought I wouldn't have enough time to catch it.

Where’s my bus?

Dear TransLink,
I’m writing a review to let you know that you app is useless because the app tells me that the 266 bus will drive and depart at Capalaba Station. What it doesn’t tell me I’d that half the time, the 266 bus doesn’t exist. The app doesn’t say there’s a delay or it’s cancelled. And when I try to save the route, it know what stops do the bus stop at, it doesn’t say and the service disappears. Now I’m arriving home later the. I should be, but of course you’ll probably do no improvements to the app since you haven’t responded need to any of the other reviews!

Terrible application

Not sure about trains, but with buses this app is so bad!! Cannot change the time after setting route initially. Does not update automatically. Does not give platforms and you might end up god knows where (some buses have the same number on differential platforms). This app forces you to catch an Uber

Please fix these problems

For short trips and basic travel it’s good.
But the system glitches out when you plan a long trip with more than 2 modes of transport, and tells the wrong times for the stops after the 2nd
The title of some train lines is different from what the app tells you, for example Nambour/Caboolture line only shows as Caboolture, and then at the train station, the line only says Nambour. (I believe Nambour is the original First Nations name for the area, which I love, but there needs to be one name, change the whole line name to Nambour)
The times will often stuff up, and tell you it’s late, or early, when it’s not

Wrong timetables

It’s nice for tracking what buses you want but it continuously tells you incorrect times. I just experienced this whilst waiting for a bus. It says another bus will not leave it’s starting terminal for another hour (it’s Australia Day so i obviously expected delays and changes in timetable) but when I click on a specific timetable it says my bus is leaving the terminal I’m at right now… tell me how a bus that supposedly doesn’t leave for another hour is at my terminal because it’s not making any sense. Trash. If you want trustworthy times make sure to check their website as well at ‘plan a journey’ because the app is unreliable on public holiday apparently

Too many annoying features

Firstly, when you leave the app and then go back into it, the screen / detail you were last looking at isn’t restored. Secondly, every time you choose to look at one of your favorite stops the default view shows a map of the local area that takes up most of the screen. You then have to hide the map to see a reasonable amount of useful information. Why - if you are looking at your favorite stops - would you want to see a map all the time?! A map view is definitely needed in order to locate new stops, but this should be a separate feature, not within Favourites! After several years of using this app, I still find myself wishing the third party app Go Brisbane was still available… it was so much easier to use.
I have tried to send feedback about this App but it really feels like Translink don’t really want that. There is no in-App feedback option, instead you are taken to the generic Translink website which only allows 1000 characters (really?!!!), and no option to leave contact details for a response.

Frustrating

Downloaded because I thought it would be easier than searching online to find out simple things like train times from and to stations, however it keeps giving daft results because it’s insisting on including my current location as a starting point instead of just the departure station I’m typing in, so everything is at least an hours walk off in terms of timing. Stupid. Will go back to google.

Bad UI interactions

Has some bad UI issues. For instance if you’re looking at a bus route timetable, if your phone locks/sleeps, when it wakes up/unlocks it kicks you out of the timetable you were viewing.
For some bizarre reason in the latest version of this app they increase the vertical list spacing and font size in the favourites menu. Now it take more scrolling to see things that were only visible with just a glance before!! Frustrating for users using an iPhone SE, iPhone 5 or 5S. Not everyone uses a big iPhone plus!

Redesign

I believe the current design is outdated. It needs to change into a quick, easier to go around and functionable app.
Tracking the train LIVE will be a great way for customers to become confident and easier to rely on public transportation. Like Transperth, it’s actually useful to know when it’ll arrive but also know where it is and customers can track which stations the train is going LIVE now during the ride.

Gaslight, the app

The biggest problem with the app is that when you ask it “when’s the next train?”, it outright lies to you. The times will not be the same as what is says at the station. This seems to be worse in the afternoons but on weekends, you can forget about it! (I have been relying Uber a lot.) This app has no respect for your time and deserves it none back.

It’s good, but needs major updates.

The TransLink app is pretty good, but it has a few major problems, the buses always come later than then the app says and I think a way to change this is to add trackers onto buses so that the app can show where they are and how far out they are. All I’m saying is that the TransLink app needs to be updated to cope with the numbers that come to Brisbane in 2032 Olympics.

The app doesn’t work

The app was ok on my iPhone 7 but since I upgraded to an iPhone 11 it doesn’t work. TransLink ‘Helpdesk’ advised me on 3 seperate occasions to uninstall the app then download the latest version.
I just use their website now which has the same functionality. 😂

Get your act together

Where are the notifications for all the late and cancelled trains and buses. Get your act together - Developers fix the app or find someone who can. If TransLink and Queensland Rail don’t list issues on Facebook this is the only way we can find out issues before and when they happen.

Hopeless

Genuinely poor app, not easy to use, inaccurate results and most of it isn’t an app anyway, but links to a website. Low budget rubbish. And to think they spent a fortune on turning the logo pink without fixing any of the bugs, let alone gaping structural faults. Rubbish.

Inconsistent results, stop alert fails

The app has Inconsistent results, when I search leaving now I get 2 times and if I move it to 1 min later I get different results. It would be better to be able to see the next 4-6 trains that will be running. Otherwise the express trains often fail to show up without a number of searches.
The stop alert fails to work even with the notifications on, app background refresh on and location turned to all times.
REQUEST: It would be great to see the ability to use the phone NFC to pay at the entry and exit gates. Having to get a card in and out all the time is a pain.

Well, sometimes it works

You have to know the limitations of this app to get useful information out of it. For example if you are crossing multiple suburbs it is sometimes useful to look at the map first to see what stops are nearby your destination rather than rely on the list produced when you use the ‘plan’ option.
It is often not live data. Today I waited 6 mins for a bus the app said would arrive in 3. Other times when you click on the planned route to see the live data of where the bus is you can see the bus location. Often you can’t.
If there is a major incident impacting the timetable the app will still tell you the scheduled times so you can head out for a bus that was never going to come on time.

Needs work

This app is not at all user friendly, you can save a favourite route but then still have to find the route/line each time to load your favourites!
Go Card also needs to be available in the app rather than just a link to another browser, frustrating.

Doesn’t differentiate inbound v outbound

Since the update 2 months ago, bus stops are showing inbound and outbound platforms for all stops, and even when choosing a platform, it doesn’t always work. Terribly difficult for deciding which bus stop to walk to when needing public transport.

List of services not enough

List of bus services when searching is to small it o it shows like 2 or 3 . You should extend the list to show future services so customers can plan jouneys or if they want to k ow if this is the last bus they can easily see that. I prefer the older app

Want to see fake buses that never arrive? Get this app!!

This app is great at showing fake or “ghost” buses that never arrive. Counts down in minters till the bus is supposed to come, says the bus has gone past, but there was no bus! This also happens really often and translink really don’t care, as after a couple of complaints and a negative review that translink replied to nothing has changed. Great attitude of not caring about the people that are paying for the service.

Needs Apple Wallet Support!

In its current form, the ‘MyTranslink’ application is a complete waste of money (for the Queensland Government), and I would recommend anybody using it to do so cautiously…
Firstly, the schedules contained therein are useless.
I can “plan a trip” via the web site and do the same thing with the ‘MyTranslink’ application, only to end up with two different schedules - but not before the bus arrives at a different time again (i.e. so three different timings)!
Interestingly, it seems to be busses most affected by this and whilst I would expect this to be the case from time-to-time, it seems to be that the three data sources (application, bus and website) mismatch at least 70-80% of the time, which is unacceptable.
Also, the ‘MyTranslink’ application lacks the ability to add one’s ‘goCard’ to ‘Apple Wallet’ (via this application), so passengers can “tap on” and “tap off” with their mobile device or smartwatch… Yet countless other transit systems around the world - including some in Australia - can already do this and have been able to do so for quite a while now.
I should be able to login to my ‘goCard’ account, add my ‘goCard’ to Apple Wallet (via this application) and then use my Apple Watch to “tap on” and “tap off” when using the ‘TransLink’ network.
Why is this still not possible in 2022, when so many others around Australia and the world already have this functionality?
I’m sorry, but this application is a joke and at the time of writing, I simply cannot rate it any higher than a single star… Maybe someday, this application will actually see some modernisation and improvements, and I will be able to revise my review?

App tells me to get off at the wrong station and walk

Since one of the stations I use reopened the pathfinding has been broken. App gives me the right information if I put the station as the destination, but if I want it to a location it tells me to to get off at the next station and walk a kilometre back to the open station. Reported this to TransLink almost two months ago and it’s still broken.

Disaster. Does not work anymore.

Has been incredibly unreliable since last update, but has now stopped working all together. Did all the normal fault finding stuff, ended up reinstalling the app, locks up as soon as the “Get Started” button is pressed. Eventually get an “Error occurred while registering” fault. Hopeless.

Hate it with a burning passion

This apps terrible interface, bare-function features (your marquee in navigation doesnt even have an arrow showing the directong you’re facing) and inaccuracy make the app something you have to battle with for functionality. New south wales has the perfect travel (TripView) app and it’s third party. Absolutely pathetic

Bad app

I don’t like the new update I have Caboolture line as a favourite but when I click on it, it has the wrong train airport train the not on the Caboolture line but all of the train on the Caboolture line are wrong so I can see what train I should be catch all of the station are wrong and need to be fixed now I can’t use it at the way it is it was better befor the update
