Description

The FUTÁR application by BKK Centre for Budapest Transport has been renewed under the name BudapestGO, which, in addition to real-time route planning, has been extended with new functions: you can buy digital single tickets, daily and weekly travelcards or passes in the application and you can also be informed immediately about the current transport service changes. You can use the route planner with a cleaner and clearer interface, facilitated by a number of new features.

New features in the app:

- Ticket and pass purchase, journey planning in a single app

- Digital single ticket now also available

- Automatic pass renewal

- Traffic information (BKK Info application integrated)

- Personalised transport updates via push message

- Trip planning for trains and suburban railways available with a BKK-pass

- Simplified interface

- You can buy local or intercity tickets and passes for most municipalities in Hungary.

Rubbish app

App wouldn’t load up in time for me to scan QR before boarding bus. A minute later a ticket inspector got on bus and fined me $30 Euro for not scanning QR code. Feel like I’ve been scammed. App not good for tourists. Please avoid this app. I now have negative feels of Budapest.

Awful purchase experience

Believe the negative apps. Buying a day pass - about $10 - took 15 minutes, required very personal info like drivers license and address, diverted to a third party to complete the process and then it wasn’t obvious the purchase had completed. It had, but the same purchase was still in the cart.

Apple Pay was hinted at but wasn’t offered in the actual purchase flow.

So many other apps do this so much better. Zero stars

Cannot sign up/login

No verification email out when sign up, as the result no way to login into this app. The app said verification email was sent out but it didn’t come into email inbox as well as spam folder. Tried couple of different email providers but the results were the same, other sign up method e.g. Facebook didn’t work neither, no email. Either the app or mail server this app uses have some issue, hope the developer can fix this issue soon as it’s the prevention to purchase a ticket.

IMPORTANT!!!

This is a timetable app. You have the option to purchase tickets through the app, however… be warned. The purchase is through a second party app called Simple (you are redirected), and you need to create an account on that app. Your details are stored with both apps!

Tourists are forced to purchase single tickets and 24, 48, 72hr tickets in the machines. If you manage to get through the many many steps of setting up two apps, then good for you… you now have more ticket options. But for a transport system that is very undesirable… it’s just not worth it.

Broken app

Frustrating that I paid for a 72 hour pass and it did not show up on my account. Now I have to run the risk of being fined each time I travel if the ticket officer doesn’t believe what has happened. I emailed to try and get solution and they do not respond.

I like it!

I was surprised how quick and easy this app is. I just buy a monthly pass and don’t have to worry about a paper ticket. I scan the QR code when I get on a bus and a cute graphic appears. I can see the developers try to make this app simple and user friendly and I think they did a good job. Many Hungarian websites and apps are difficult to use but this is a surprisingly well designed app.

It is alright

Reading previous negative reviews, I was hesitant to use this app and bought a physical ticket. At the end of my trip I needed a single fare and couldn’t be bothered to find a ticket station and tried the app.

It does work very well and had no payment issues. In future I would use the app instead of physical tickets.

Credit Card Scam

Asks for, the redirects to a credit card third party site. Debits credit card, then sends failure messages to app.

Total run around and not fit for purpose.

Time to start again

One of the worst apps I have ever used for any reason. I have travelled all over and I can say that London, Sydney, New York and Prague all have better systems than this. I registered - you then have to open an account with a thing called Simple (joke). I tried several times but was simply unable to get the account to pay for my ticket. I gave up, went back home and will walk instead this afternoon. For a great European city with a good transport system this app is not up to standard.

Easier to fly overseas than buy a ticket for the subway. Just give me a paper ticket.
