OpenSnow Base is an auto-renewable subscription, which will renew yearly at $49.99 USD. Payment will be charged to the user's Apple account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and identify the cost of the renewal. If the auto-renewal fails due to a payment issue, you will still be able to access the paid content for 16 days while Apple attempts to collect payment. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase.

Custom Favorite Lists
Create up to 10 custom favorite lists with up to 100 locations in each list. This is ideal for saving separate lists for your local mountains, upcoming trips, last-minute powder chases, favorite camping spots, and other locations that you just want to keep an eye on. Go to the Favorites screen and tap the list name in the upper left to get started.
Recent Satellite Maps
Get a near-real-time view of the land to help better understand current conditions. See if there is snow on a certain trail or mountain area, and how the landscape actually looks like within the last few days. The satellite data is available globally and is updated approximately every 3-5 days. Go to the “Maps” tab, tap the blue overlays button in the bottom-right, tap the “Land Details” tab, and select any “Recent Satellite” overlay to get started. Exclusively available for Premium accounts.
Forecast Precipitation Maps
Visualize the precipitation forecast in 2D or 3D for 6-hour, 12-hour, 24-hour, and 48-hour accumulation ranges, along with total precipitation. Go to the “Maps” tab, tap the blue overlays button in the bottom-right, and select any “Forecast Precipitation” overlay to get started. Base accounts can view the forecast for the next 10 days. Upgrade to Premium to view days 11-15.

Just the best snow forecast app ever!
These guys have thought of everything!
Easy to use, great for watching multiple resorts and regions, fantastic info and the forecasts and commentary are first rate.
I also love the live cam links especially the snow gauge playbacks.
The team are also constantly updating and improving the offering which is great to see…

As I travel to Canada on an annual basis I find OpenSnow a great source of information prior to arrival.

No good in Europe
I decided to give the paid version a go for the past 12 months. My conclusion is that it’s not very useful in Europe.
Europe is really an afterthought. Perhaps more effort goes into the American mountains. ie, There is only one “Daily Snow” for all of Europe. While the commentary is interesting it doesn’t break things down enough to get a feel for your local area. Also a number of feature simply don’t exist for the Alps - ie, some models, the links to snow cams are empty etc.
Also, the forecast models seemed to present a very optimistic view of storm totals. Monitoring over the course of a season I found that apple weather was consistently more accurate.
And the season snowfall totals are a fallacy. They seemed to be a total of the forecast rather than a measure of actual snowfall. ie, when the forecast was 50cm and the actual snowfall was closer to 15cm the 50cm is still added to the“actual” total.
Finally and my reason for not renewing my subscription- they’ve done a Microsoft and introduced a premium paid tier. I’m out.

So many layers of information to make decisions. Quick view is great for general location and details are excellent for more specific decisions like aspect etc.

Over optimistic snow forecast?
I live in Australia going to ski in Europe March 2024. We are two weeks away from our trip and I see that the app is overly optimistic when it comes to the predicted amount of snow and or accumulated snow overnight.
I hope that I’m wrong!

Brilliant snow forecasting
Being an Australian skiing in North America I am usually unfamiliar with weather patterns and snow characteristics. I have used OpenSnow for many many years to help plan a trip ahead of time and then use it while on the ski field. Does a great job.

Not very useful
Limited forecasts, assumes you live in the US and you have to go into settings to make the units and formatting work. This should be part of a setup wizard I hate US built apps with no awareness that there’s a world outside that bubble. Season passes are missing mountains (Hutt isn’t on mountain collective for example). The UI looks ok. But without paying for a subscription it doesn’t really deliver anything that google won’t give you for free.

This app lets you follow different resorts easily, and the forecasts have a personalised touch with different regions given forecasts by local experts.

Simple and clean
I had a lot of issues with the old layout, but as of today they have released a new update that has fixed a lot of those issues.
I like that everything (mountains, passes, forecasts) is not crammed onto one screen anymore and is split at the top
