I had to resort to a google search to find out how much this will cost me after the initial free trial. It’s duplicitous to not be upfront on the price.

Still good
I have been using Noteshelf daily for years. The upgrade to 3 is very good. The only annoy things is that you can’t sort notebooks automatically (have to do this manually and if you have a lot this is painful) and the order does not synch across devices. But I still love this app and would recommended it.

So helpful and practical
Annotating is a dream with this app. Simple with a lot of customisation available. I’ve been reading and writing a lot more because of it. Being able to export notes as a pdf, convert text to type and have lockable notebooks has also been helpful.
Icing on the cake would be: to able to extend the margins or add footnotes for more note taking space and to be able create clickable links between pages for faster navigation.

After the recent u-dates, the share function now randomly8- rotates pages when exporting

I have liked this app for years (since subscribing to Noteshelf1), well before Apple notes started to improve. Notreshelf 3 has been a quantum jump, especially with the templates! Organisation so intuitive now. Find function excellent. Only 1 little wish: that i could generate links to specific notes to paste into an organisational app like Things or TickTick.

Sync
Looks like it will be a switch back to Goodnotes, I have had enough of this syncing issue, finally fixed it a few months ago and now it is doing it again and this time nothing will work. Obviously an update of something has triggered it. So frustrating 😠

Long-time User
Honestly love this App, been using it for years, or at least throughout the generations of the App, as we are on the 3rd addition now.
There are only 2 limitations that I have found with this App, that might be beneficial for the Devs to know, if they aren’t currently working on these…
1. Stability gradient for the stylus:
Honestly, adding a stability gradient to the pens, markers or pencil items would be a game changer, as I tend to draw a lot of diagrams, but have to do a lot of erasing to get them not to look like a squiggly mess, which properly takes up more time in the long run than it is worth, but I am a visual learner, so whatcha gonna do. If a stability option was added I am confident that alone would be a huge incentive to use this App.
2. Document Compatibility:
The mass MAJORITY of documents I import are perfect, so don’t let this deter you from this App. It is honestly the best and most versatile App I have found, and I went through a few before I landed here. BUT certain documents that maybe decreased the margin space or have more complex diagrams or figure, it doesn’t translate over properly and some can be missing sometimes or distorted.

FREEZES all the time :(
I’ve been a huge fan of Noteshelf since its inception and purchased the new version, Noteshelf 3, immediately upon its release without any hesitation. However, I am extremely disappointed now, as my diary/planner cant be open out of sudden, even I was half way writing, it freezes and then closed without a reason. After that cant be opened again. I lost all my record now, totally disappointed!!

Fast becoming my favourite note-taking app
After using GoodNotes for years, I came back to an earlier edition of Noteshelf which I had previously bought and used, to find this upgraded version with an offer to buy the Premium version. I am so glad I did.
For a start, there is an entire library of resources which are free to use to build journals, and notebooks. The tabbed notebook is simple to use and much easier to navigate than GoodNotes which requires constant changing between editing tools and navigating for links. You don’t need to do that here. Tap the tab and it instantly links you to the page in the notebook where you can continue to type, or write on the page. Converting handwriting to text is also easy with the lasso tool.
The AI function is amazingly good. I have used it many times to create a quick summary, notes or examples for a topic I am studying.
So far, I have not found anything to fault. This app has quickly become my favourite note-taking app. I highly recommend it.

Switching to subscription
What made Noteshelf great is that, unlike GoodNotes and Notability, it wasn’t a subscription. Even worse, those two did a bait and switch and forced users who had purchased to pay up again when they moved to subscription pricing. Well, Noteshelf is doing the same thing now. Even though they say that if you’ve purchased the one time fee version you’ll be grandfathered, that’s what the other ones said and it turns out wasn’t true. I’m switching fully over to Apple Notes. It’s actually pretty good now.

I have been using Noteshelf for a while (since version 2!) for my notes and it's been excellent for me. There's so many things the app allows you to do that others do not! Not compatible with OS15 and older
I have an olde model Macbook air and cannot with OS vs 12. I cannot upgrade to OS 13, and just buy a new mac is a bit too expensive. So sadly, the new version is not of any use to me.

Noteshelf 3 is buggy and slow
I am long time paid Noteshelf user.
I was excited to upgrade to Noteshelf 3 because of the new features and the good experience I have had with earlier versions.
Sadly, not all of my notebooks migrated from Noteshelf 2 will open in Noteshelf 3, Noteshelf 3 is very slow to open notebooks, and Noteshelf 3 regular hard crashes for no apparent reason when writing.
I thought the things like speed, and crashing would improve with minor updates after the first release, but nothing has changed.
This very disappointing for a paid app that is a lot more expensive (compared to many other iOS apps).
I wish the Noteshelf developers would fix their product.

Great app, but need landscape mode
I used Noteshelf 2 for ages, before upgrading to Noteshelf 3. It’s a great app, but is missing one tiny feature that is really annoying. On N2 you could look at documents in either landscape or portrait orientation on the iPhone and iPad. In N3 you can only view in portrait orientation on the iPhone. It’s just a tiny thing, but it’s SUPER annoying. I’m still using N2, so that I can use this feature. Please bring it back, even if it is an optional feature that can be turned on or off in settings.

A leap forward! And amazing value.
I’ve been using Noteshelf for over a decade. I tried a whole bunch and NS was clearly the best for my needs - simple, organised and the most aesthetic. After years of using NS1 I couldn’t quite bring myself to move to NS2, but NS3 is a leap forward from simple things like changing colour of written text to accurate note-to-text to the intelligent eraser. And with a one-off payment, incredible value too!

Appreciate Evernote support but Apple Pencil input still laggy.
This version still has the laggy Apple Pencil input present in Noteshelf 2. Writing with the Pencil is noticably slower than apps like Apple Notes which use the native Apple Pencil API.

Handwriting
Bought this app to turn handwritten paper notes into text. So far no luck and not finding any documentation to solve problem on iPhone. I have scanned the pages but ‘long press’ has no effect. Help. I normally only write positive reviews!

Simply the best
I have used Noteshelf from their very first iteration through to Noteshelf 3. Though I have tried other note taking apps here and there, Noteshelf have always remained the best. The most intuitive, easy to use, well presented note taking app on the market and to top it off the developers listen to their users. Well done Noteshelf, I’m a fan for life.

Pdf export option
I’ve been using a lot of different note taking apps for the last two years. I now take all my notes using Noteshelf as it has different pen options. There are two things that I want Noteshelf team to change or add. The first one is that if I use ppt-shape horizontal files, somehow I cannot zoom out and make the size of the slide smaller while writing. The second one is that if I export my notes to pdf file, somehow the thickness of letters gets significantly thinner and it’s hard to see my handwriting as the lines get really thin and it became nearly invisible to see in my laptop. I’m using fountain pen so I’m not too sure if it only applies to fountain pen option or not.

Issues with the macbook and ipad sync
Notes made in macbook can sync to ipad but cannot sync up both. I bought noteshelf 3 just for the macbook feature so abit sad that the integration cant work. Been a noteshelf fan for years had it since 7 years ago so abit sad to be facing this issue when i bought it for the synchronisation. Could the team help me access it?

Version 3 not as visually appealing as Version 2
While I am sure there are many great functions in Version 3, I do prefer Version 2 and will keep using that version for most things. Visually, I love the bookcase look in Version 2 and how they look when grouped. I prefer the old style covers and templates rather than the newer ones. All this is about how I like it to look personally. Version 2 looks more stylish but Version 3 looks cheaper and busier. There are some great dairy and manner templates in Version 3. Personally Version 2 was perfect for me.

Only app I use
Noteshelf 3 has added everything that was missing in the previous app, which was already indispensable. This is the only note taking, whatever you can imagine you can do app, that puts notebooks into actual books. There are probably better writing to text apps, but they all put them into groups of words. Being neurodivergent I am very visual and being able to personalise each book, is essential.
