I have downloaded and deleted, spent an hour on the phone with HCF trying to fix this app. Nothing works. Can’t log on. Can’t do anything. This app has been a complete DUD for at least a year. When will they bother fixing it???

This app is IMPOSSIBLE to use. You can only upload photos, no saved PDF’s etc. This means that uploads are sometimes poor quality.
The app won’t find recent photos in your camera feed, even if you favourite them. Who ever developed this should be fired.

Really poor user experience. Does not allow access to all photos in order to upload for a claim. Login and movement between App options (e.g. Claims) is painful slow. With the website currently under repair the App option not really working for Claims then the overall HCF customer service is extremely poor

Just wanted to make a claim. Which for health funds, this should be an extremely standard thing. But I just couldn’t make the claim because the app couldn’t even find the photo I took of my receipt. Absolutely useless!
I then tried to use the extra benefits calculator, and that was impossible to use as well. When choosing the “what type of appointment is it?”, the drop down menu just kept closing.
Nothing on this app works. Extremely disappointed, considering apps like these are pretty standard these days.

Oh my goodness... what a dreadful app. Have they no professional programmers available to help them.
Photo uploads are ridiculous ... with only a selection of photos coming through from your library so claiming is useless.
Not enough information available through the app.. not very informative at all.
Come on guys, it’s 2020... lift your game..

Hi Developers,
I am glad the HCF app exists and it has helped me out.
However, it needs some major work. The look and feel of the app is quite barebones and you can tell it is a web-based app, but that is a minor complaint.
A more major complaint is that the in-app claims process doesn’t work properly - photos do not seem to load in the proper order, and it would be ideal to be able to upload a PDF - though I understand HCF will need to update the terms of service for this.
Really though... this app would be able to bypass this process by just being able to store our card information! Ideally as a pass in Apple Wallet (see the excellent integration in Woolworths/ Everyday Rewards as an example) but at least inside the HCF app itself!

Selecting photo library is slow, you would think it is connecting to the cloud
Photo library options present libraries and mismatched photos that do not mirror at all what is shown in photos. My screenshots are still not available to view 24 hours later. Only way to claim is to bring receipt up on laptop and use the app to take a photo of laptop screen, very convoluted

No way to upload files such as PDFs, and when trying to upload a photo of a file instead, the camera roll appears all out of order, so it’s impossible to find the receipt to attach. I even tried making my receipt a favourite, but the app doesn’t recognise the change I’ve made, as my receipt image still doesn’t appear in my favourites folder, even one day after the change was made. This is ridiculously poor build design in this day and age, especially when many of us don’t have access to a printer while working from home. I’ve had to take a picture of the receipt on my computer monitor in order to submit my claim - hope someone can read it.

When I take a screen shot on the phone of a document such as a receipt attached to an email it can’t be accessed in the app. I can see the screenshot in my Photos app on the phone. The screenshots don’t appear when the HCF app accesses my photos.
The app is slow and clunky to use. I’ve been quite happy with HCF as health fund however this app does not make submitting extras claims with HCF easy.

I have hundreds of photos on my iPhone, 2 of them being the receipts I want to put a claim in for, yet the app thinks I have only 40 photos on my device. You’d think the main use case for this app is to lodge a claim so well done on creating an app that doesn’t even let you do this! 👏🏻

There are so many issues with this App. Sometimes it keeps loading and freezes after logging in. After using the credit card to make a payment it is also stuck at loading again so it needs to be killed by force. This is the latest iOS App as of Aug 2020.

Apparently this is HCFs go to claim method. Can’t log in. After numerous calls (by my health care provider and myself) to HCF and literally hours spent trying to make a claim on the website and the app I am still unable to claim. We’ve just switched to HCF after being with another insurer. This is the first attempt to claim. We think will switch back.

Having used Medibank’s and Bupa’s apps, seeing how those of other funds work and reading a heap of customer reviews for many of them, I must conclude that this has got to be the worst app of the bunch: You can’t upload PDF documents, just photos, and even that doesn’t work. You can take a proper photo/scan, or a screenshot of an invoice, but the app won’t see it when accessing the photo library, leaving you only with the option of taking a photo of another device’s screen directly with the poorly written camera implementation of the app itself (coz everything’s digital these days, right?).
The only “good” thing about this terrible piece of software is that, as painful as it might be, you can at least submit a claim, a task that seems impossible via the website!
The app is so bad that:
a) I took the time to vent by writing this review, and
b) I’m seriously considering paying a higher premium and move to another provider! 😡
C’mon, HCF! Please get it together!

Whenever I submit a payment just takes forever to load then I end up having to force quit the app won’t even let you work out your estimated benefits without having a fit will

Previously tried to use app to make claim and did not get return when phone number was called was told to claim on app but after insisting that I had already tried to but did not receive anything they than advised that they could not read the number but when I look at the photo on my phone it is clear. Only trying to claim on app because HCF can’t fix my card which I am up to card nine in 5 years card has never worked so have never been able to claim in any medical facility.HCF is useless quick to take the money but can’t make a claim

It is near impossible to make a claim using the App. The App only allows uploading a photo or take a photo. Majority of receipts are now electronic.
As far as I can tell, if I take a screen shot of the electronic receipt, the App does not show the screen shot to upload - maybe the screen shot resolution is not good enough?
So this means I need to print the receipt so I can use the App to take a photo of the receipt!
Why can’t I upload a PDF receipt (at least I can print my emailed receipt to pdf)?
Other providers do not make an online claim so difficult.

Surely you could develop the app so that it can appear horizontally on an iPad? The app just randomly accesses photos, no order whatsoever so means you have to often search through EVERY photo on your device. I have also just tried 4 times to “submit” my claim and keep getting a “technical error” message. HCS, you closed our office!!! At least make your app useable for those of us with no other way to claim!

I recently changed to HCF as it was less expensive BUT this app has me questioning my choice as it is cheap and does not function like my previous provider...
Making a claim is a bad process, I had entered my bank details online so assumed they carried into the App, but no, my first claim and I received a bank cheque in the mail.
Getting a picture from my photo library is near impossible for a claim as well, I don’t know where it pulls from but it takes for ages to search them brings up random pics but none that I have taken in at least the last month.
Also you have no idea if a claim has gone through or what to expect after the picture has been submitted and there’s no where to see past claims so you know they are in the system...
Plus even to log in is a pain. It doesn’t save my number or password when I tick the box to remember me. My previous provider I could use my facial recognition from my IPhone easily!
Honestly, it’s a useless app that’s not even worth using, maybe they do want to discourage us from making claims?

I cannot EVER make a claim on this stupid app. When I go to select a photo from the photo library, whether it’s a photo, file or screenshot, the one I need doesn’t show up.
It’s an absolute joke and claims have taken weeks an months when they should be able to be done within a couple of days.
Reinstalling etc doesn’t work. Utterly useless.

This app will not fully access your photo library, making it next to impossible to upload a file for a claim.
I literally had to take a picture of a photo of another phone showing the claim to be able to upload the necessary documentation.
