Actual Train Arrival Time On The Station

The app should display the actual, real-time arrival of the train on the station. Similar train arrival time displayed on the station monitor should be replicated in the app.

This feature will tell us whether the train is running late, or early.

Metro train PTV app is able to do this functionality.

Needs work, shows promise

Like all official transport apps in Australia, this isn’t quite fit for service. I use it mostly because it’s the only app that shows the platforms (which for Southern Cross is quite important) but even these aren’t always accurate. My main complaint is that it’s just slow - many a time I have been walking to the station and haven’t got the info I needed in the five minutes before I get to the station. Sometimes it tells me there are no trains when they are. Which is a shame because the design and features are fine (although it would be nice if it could recognise where you are so it defaults to the right ‘Next 5’).

Some work needed

Have been using this app for some time and find it pretty useful but with some tweaks it could be great!

- There is a problem if you tap out of the app wile booking a ticket: when you return to try and carry on where you left off you find yourself back at the home screen with no idea how to return to your booking, so you have to start all over again. If you have already reserved a seat the system holds on to that and you can’t have it back.

- There is not much seat information visible. If booking a Velocity service on the Gippsland line, you can’t see which is the quiet carriage. It happens to be the first one that comes up. The result is that the “quiet” carriage is always full, often with groups having loud conversations, while the other ones can be pretty empty. It would probably better if the default carriage was the standard one and you specifically had to tap in to book into the quiet one. Please clearly indicate when booking into the quiet carriage as I love the concept of a quiet carriage.

I don’t normally have a problem with this app but this morning all data is failing to load.. I am relunctant to reinstall as i don’t want to lose all the trip setting i have set up.

Need more comprehensive trip planning information

I like using the Journey planner. The convenience of selecting my from and to stations, and seeing the train times is great... but... I NEED to see more than 5 services, or, I need to be able to move earlier and later in the day.

For example, I search for a journey, and enter the date, and it shows me the services for tomorrow around the same time as I am doing the search. I then have no way to look at earlier or later services on that day...

The app has the potential to be great, but it really does need an update.

Buggy, No platforms?

The PTV app is better but both lack any platform information - why?

The Metro trains have platform numbers.

This app appears to just be a mini web browser rather than a standalone app. It’s slow and jumps all over the place.

I won’t keep using it to be honest.

I’ll rely on the PTV app again.

Would be good, if it worked

Seemed too good to be true, and it was. I was hoping to get the right platform for my train. The app couldn’t load the timetable. Completely useless.

Pathetic

This app is the equivalent of pollution. It’s slow to update and doesn’t display delayed, rescheduled or cancelled trains. What’s more, the technology to keep track of this information is available, because the stations have live tracking on their monitors. Well done 👏👏🏻👏🏿

Love the new version it is more user friendly and great help when you in a hurry to catch the train!!

Great! Please add dynamic departure times

Great app but please make the departure times dynamic to reflect the times on the platform boards when there are delays and it would be good to check the schedule of a service you have just boarded, if you are not quick you can not pull a past service back up.

I’ve been using this app since it came out, it works great. Only improvement they could make would be to incorporate more real time info.

Good but could improve

This app is great when I’m in a hurry and just want to catch the next train available or way up how long the next is. However while I love this feature I think it could be improved by letting you see previous trains as sometimes I jump on one but once the train leaves the station it disappears and I can’t see which train it was. This is annoying when I want to let someone know what time to pick me up. Otherwise great app.

Has potential to be better than the metro ver

Love the countdown feature but there seems to be no function for entering traveling times as the count down only gives you the next available train no matter what preferences are selected.

The journey planner is basic and yet fails to load multiple times. Would love a more user friendly interface for this.

Love the integration into widgets for quick reference. Just wish some of the features actually worked. :(

Can’t zoom in on timetables

Ability to zoom in on full timetables has been removed from this update. Type is so small in default view that you can barely read it.

The app is getting better and better, the new update is a killer. Next step Apple Watch with ability to query the app through Siri.

Depends what you use it for

My own review based on what I use it for: Simply look up ALL the departure times for my station similar to TripView. Not just “the next five” - not possible. Going back to printed version with my stations highlighted- that’s the only way I can get a clear 24hr picture of the departures. Useless to me, deleting, bye.

Departure time NOT live

The departure time isn’t live and goes by the scheduled time. You can look at the app and it says train in five minutes then the display at the platform can say in ten minutes.

Desperately needs pop up notifications

This app needs pop up notifications for when services are delayed or cancelled - people rely on V/Line services to get to work. Otherwise you need to have the app open constantly just to find out if services are late or cancelled, as they often occur at short notice. Not possible when you’re driving 30min+ to get to the station. Very frustrating when your service is cancelled and you only find out at the station, and have to wait 1hr 17min for the next service. Up your game, V/Line.

Journey Planner = Dead

Most of the time I use the Journey Planner to plan what time the train arrives/departs, it doesn’t even do anything when I tap “Look up times”. It says it’s fetching the times, but 5 seconds later it just stops and does nothing. Same happens on the website.

UX issues

I dont buy tickets online, so why is there no way to plan a journey without buying a ticket?

Southern cross is not my destination, ever, who made the decision that only southern cross matters as s final destination?

Why the complaints??

I've read the comments people have put. I've been using this app to book tickets every second week for awhile. Not sure why ppl are complaining. It works fine. Best they look at the tool their using it on or grow a brain. It's very user friendly and has no issues.

Very good app, just one suggestion.

Please make a settings section where I can choose 24-hour time and 12-time. It's just hard for me to tell time when it says 18:37. I know it's 6:37pm but I don't want to have to do conversion every time.

I didn't think this app could get any worse but after the latest update. I can no longer book a ticket online.... I've tried everything and no matter what I do, the page thinks about it and than nothing. Not impressed at all.... tried the web page and it seems that has also been updated also. Needs some improvement

Despite having notifications, alerts and all sorts of things other apps have (and notify me of), this one doesn't alert for a train cancellation etc until you actually open the app - it should "badge" icon.

Needs line details in 'Next 5'

Missing line information! Great that it tells you the next 5 trains to the station your going to, but when multiple lines use the same line trying to find out what line it is, is a nightmare. Southern cross station displays the line names and this app doesn't correspond - very confusing and I have missed multiple trains because of it. Needs an update asap!!!
