Makes from your iPhone, iPad, Macbook and/or Apple Watch a complete GPS device with detailed topographic maps. Viewed maps will be stored on your device so that Topo GPS can also be used offline.
Why should you buy an expensive GPS device if you can install Topo GPS? Topo GPS contains all functions of a regular GPS device for less money, has a much more detailed map, and is more convenient to operate. The accuracy of the position determination is in favorable conditions about 5 m.

* To use Topo GPS you need to buy a map.
* Official topographic maps of many countries and states, including Australia (National Map 1:250.000 from 2008), New South Wales, Queensland, Great Britain (OS Explorer) and New Zealand are available as in-app purchase.
* Topographic maps are very detailed maps, include height contours and are very suited for outdoor activities.
* All maps of a certain region can be made offline accessible using the map download screen.

If you are recording a route, the GPS will run in the background. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Best app
My only issue with Topo GPS is that it doesn’t have every state of Australia. I am based in NSW and use it constantly for hiking, canyoning, 4wding etc. but will be no good when I travel the rest of Australia. This app doesn’t chew battery life like some others I’ve tried. Is very user friendly. Love it, please add the rest of OZ 🙏😉

Doesn't Show Trails
Had to buy the mapping for it to work, but it doesn't show clear paths and tracks in remote areas. it show roads but not paths. Not ideal when planning routes as it just gives you a direct route. The mapping needs to improve as it is missing clear obvisous features. Even apple mapping has tracks on it.

Also please add the ability enter compass bearings from current location/waypoints, not just from towns.

Could be so much better
Great app for off line maps. Some roads don’t exist. Good for showing gravel roads, but some are not gravel. I like the idea of generate loop, would be useful if u could choose tarmac roads for road bikes. If u could add that feature, that would be awesome.

The open street map world never opens. It’s hit n miss if it loads and is extremely slow. Disappointing.

Have just purchased this, but it doesn’t cover all the Australian states, so have have rated 4 stars But cannot see a scale for the state map…
However for detailed topo, there is only Qld and NSW. Can you please provide this for the other Australian states?
I was hoping for SA and WA in particular.

Looking for Topo maps of South Australia
I see that this APP shows availability of QLD and NSW maps but Australia is a lot bigger than just those two states. Are the other states available, especially South Australia?
Oh I wish that Memory-Maps didn’t go belly-up. It had the perfect solution. You could sit in one spot and move through several mapping scales and have the different maps slide underneath your fingertips.
Does this APP do that?

Failed when I needed it
Out in the Vic high country and all I got was a big grey map area when I needed help with trails. Switched to google maps, previously downloaded as I was aware of limited 4g service.

Map of Australia 25+ years out of date so not trustworthy
Good as the app might otherwise be if one can’t trust is useless.
