Not downloading new issue
The app gets worse every time. Now I can't even download latest issue as the app keeps telling me I have no connection, despite every other app on my iPad running fine online. Don't think I'll renew subscription next time. To much trouble

Is it that hard to code a functional download process?
Seriously... Every download fails at least once meaning the entire 700MB file needs to be re-downloaded.

Can't login
I can't find out if the app is any good or not since it refuses to let me login, and all the support options assume you have an IQ of 1 so need to be guided through even the most basic of tasks. Most unimpressed.

A clumsy app. Poor UI, no offer of support or an email for help, and cover doesn't change to current issue. Needs work.

Good mag, rubbish app
I like the articles and I am a subscriber....but the app is rubbish...and always has been. Slow to load, stupid navigation system, automatic downloads never work.
Fix it now would ya!

This is (not) the app for you!
Do you like repeatedly downloading 700MBs of data only to have the download fail unexpectedly, necessitating a restart?
Do you like getting halfway through a download only to have the app unexpectedly crash, and with no local caching, being forced to download again?
Do you like being presented with a notification that there is an update to an issue available - except it's not a delta update of the stuff that has changed, but another 800MB download to endure?
Do you like being unable to risk multitasking lest for some reason any background downloads disappearing for no reason?
Do you like spending money on a subscription but being unable to make use of it, contrary to most consumer protection laws requiring such a purchase to be fit for purpose and to perform as advertised?
THEN THIS IS THE APP FOR YOU!
Do you like a simple, reliable digital magazine that elegantly downloads itself once, and once only, in the background, allowing you to spend most of your time actually, you know, READING THE THING? Then give this one a miss. And you wondered why the magazine industry was going under...

Download issue
One of my favourite printed mags, thought I'd change from the printed subscription to a digital one, big big mistake. I've tried downloading a single issue over several days without any joy. Can never download the whole issue without the file reseting back to 0MB, and having to try again. Waste of time, money and ISP data allowance. Will be asking for a refund.. Very disappointing..

Still drops out
The same data sponge it always was. I have not successfully downloaded an issue for five months and have just had the same experience with this upgrade. Will not be renewing my subscription.

Download Stuffed
I am total annoyed with this magazine in digital form, as I am having the same problem of my downloads not completing, nearly every month now, & I have written emails asking for the problem to be fixed, but they seem to be totally ignoring me now as I have not been able to download the last two editions, & have sent several emails.
I am also annoyed at the way they don't allow zooming, I mean that is one of the best things in iPad is the zoom capabilities, no they must think everyone has the new iPad.
Two strikes, I am thinking of asking for the rest of my subscriptions money back, come on guys get your act together with download or get out of the online digital magazine business, as it is beyond you.

After 50 attempts and a new router I've finally successfully downloaded January's issue. February downloaded after a few attempts fortunately. I love the product but for the love of god please fix the server connection issues! Glad to see I'm not the only one having problems.

Waste of money
Bought a 12 month subscription but can't download any issues due to internet connection problem apparently. Seems weird that I have no problem downloading any other mags I have subscribed to. Emailed gameinformer about problem but they said my email address doesn't match any magazine subscription accounts. This is impossible as I have had only 1 email account for as long as i can remember. Also emailed the receipt from iTunes for the Subcription but got the same reply. Easier to just pickup latest issue from the newsagent!

Disappointed
The December issue was great, it featured the GTA IV article. But as mentioned in the other review I have not been able to download the January issue with constant timeouts and downloads that do not resume.
Once this is addressed I may change my review but for now I regret the 12 month subscription I made.

Constant errors whilst downloading issues
I have tried repeatedly to download single issues from within the application without success. It always errors out indicating that the connection to the server has been lost. Often times it will not resume downloading which is very frustrating - yesterday I download 630MB of 631MB and it lost the connection! I am on my corporate fibre connection so my internet link is reliable.
Please, please, please fix the caching so that partial downloads can be resumed under this worst-case scenario.

in-app Purchasing is Painful
Trying to download the issues in-app is a real pain. Not only does it take forever, your constantly having to re-start the download as it times out if the ipads goes to sleep. If you could fix the background download of this, it'd help alot. I wouldn't then be worried if its still downloading or not when i leave the ipad alone or go to do something else on it. Other than that, the issues are outlayed well for the ipad and are a good alternative to the print editions.

The best way to read Game Informer
This is by far the best way to read this brilliant gaming magazine. There is loads of extra content including additional photos and hours of video demonstrating the games along with developer interviews etc.
I would rate this app 5 stars (due to the amazing array of content) however it has issues with crashing sometimes so for now only 4 stars.

Loving the idea, but not seeing how to login to my account. Keep up the great work, I have a hard copy subscription but when I'm away with work it's great to just be able sit back and get all the latest from my iPad.

Yeeeah boiiii!
Best virtual gaming mag to hit App Store... One thing that caught my attention was the short clips to advertise up coming games. Anyone who subscribed to GameInformer should switch to virtual. It has something that no hard copy mags in the world has.
