Description

Triggertrap - Creative ways of triggering your camera. The Triggertrap Mobile app has a heap of sensors to trigger your camera in exciting ways and a range of tools to create beautiful timelapses.
Triggertrap Mobile’s sensor modes are configurable so you can get trigger happy with your camera - any way you like! Triggertrap Mobile allows extreme exposure control, and you can push the limits of HDR photography.
IMPORTANT! Triggertrap requires the Triggertrap Mobile Dongle to connect your camera to your device! See below for details.
• "A nifty addition to any photographer’s toolkit" - Trusted Reviews
• "[Combines] the capabilities of several expensive camera accessories into a single, affordable product.\” - Shutterbug
Got an Apple Watch or a Pebble Smartwatch? We've got you covered! Wearables works with five of our most popular modes: Simple Cable Release, Self Timer, Press and Lock, Timed Release, and Timelapse.
Here are all the ways you can get triggering:
Sensor modes:
• Sound sensor - clap, whistle or tap
• Vibration sensor - vibrations and earthquakes
• Motion sensor - detects movement. Catch people with their hand in the cookie jar!
• Peekaboo - facial recognition
Timelapse modes:
• Timelapse - travel through time
• TimeWarp - timelapse with acceleration
• DistanceLapse - perfect for road trips
• Bramping - bulb ramping timelapse to keep your exposure smooth
• Star Trail mode - extreme exposure control to create stunning images of the night sky
HDR modes:
• LE HDR - Long exposure HDR sets with up to 19 exposures
• LE HDR Timelapse - create timelapses with all the detail of HDR
Along with all of these, there are a variety of other cable release modes, including Simple Cable Release, Self Timer and Press and Lock options, and timed exposures up to 100 hours long! We also have a handy Solar Calculator to find out the sunrise and sunset times wherever you are, and an ND Calculator to ensure your exposures are just the right length when using neutral density filters.
To connect your iOS device to your camera buy a Triggertrap Mobile Dongle separately. See the Triggertrap website for a list of supported cameras, and for more information. Currently more than 300 camera models are supported, with support added for new cameras all the time.
Long Exposure HDR (LE-HDR) mode supports shutter speeds from several hours down to 1/15th second, and can do up to 19 bracketed shots with 1/3, 1/2, 1 or 2 EV steps.

What's New in Version 4.1.9

Updated for iOS 13, and Dark Mode.
It's old news to us, but it seems that the rest of the world has caught-on - using a bright display in dim light hurts your eyes! We knew that years ago, and we also realised that the backlight of your iPhone can sometimes give off unnecessary light affecting the photo you're trying to take. Because of this, we introduced Night Mode - a setting to change the colours and theme of the app.
With the introduction of Dark Mode in iOS 13, we've updated our Night Mode to work with the system settings. Now, if you have Dark Mode enabled Triggertrap Mobile will automatically adapt to choose the correct theme.
Enjoy ~ Alex & Ross.

Yay for Pebble support!

Support for the Pebble smart watch? Thank you very much Triggertrap!
I've had the trigger trap dongle working with my Olympus Pen, E-PL3, EP-M2 and Panasonic G1.
Using the flash adapter I am able to trigger my Yongnuo YN-560-iii.
At the moment it seems that the triggertrap can't trigger the camera and an off camera flash at the same time.

Great Support

Very happy with Triggertrap but the true test is the support when there is a problem. Had an issue, brilliant fast support with good communications. Great company...

No much use without the cable

The app looks promising, but I ordered my cable 4 weeks ago for my birthday and it hasn't arrived in time for Christmas even.
I'll write another review if the cable ever shows up when I have used the app.

Near Perfect.

Works great, and the app is easy to use. One down side I've found so far is that the HDR function only allows you to set the middle exposure at 1/15 sec at its fastest shutter speed, hopefully this is addressed within an update in the near future.

Works perfectly

Triggertrap has given me a remote shutter, wirelessly without fail for my 1dx and 5dmii.
The wifi slave mode is spot on with instant shutter the moment I release.
The only thing now is AF and on screen viewfinder in app and then it would be complete. But as is I have no complaints, UI is easy as 123.
Way to go Triggertrap. :-)

Great Product

Just purchase my third trigger trap, not because they keep breaking but because others see them and how well they work and want one so I generally feel sorry for them and give them mine. Great product, easy to use, never had a single problem. Thanks guys.

Essential tool for any creative photographer.

Recommend it to any creative photographer. Even if you haven't purchased the dongle, some of the features are available to the phone camera. It will give you a taste and leave you rushing to buy the dongle!

Disappointed

I purchased the Triggertrap dongle for use on my (Apple) mini iPad.
I wanted to be able to trigger my camera (Nikon D800) via WiFi. I already have a cable release with a lead about one metre long which works fine.
However, apart from a problem of my own doing (failing to check that all sound limiters were disabled i.e. iPad and Music, it was simple to set up.
My disappointment stems from two main points.
Firstly, the cables that connect the mobile dongle to the camera and iOS device (Mini iPad) are so short that you virtually have to have the camera in one hand and the iOS device in the other - not very convenient. Whilst the camera connection cable is a curly cord, if one stretches it out it is liable to pull the camera out of position unless it is being held. I would suggest that an extension cable be available for use with the dongle (preferably at least 3 metres).
Secondly, to use WiFi one needs to have at least two portable devices (one to trigger the other to trigger the dongle). It would have been useful to have been aware of this before I purchased the item. I only have the one device so I am unable to use Triggertrap for my original purpose.
I don’t want to have to be holding the camera whilst trying to “remotely” trigger the shutter. Consequently, I am unlikely to use it for what I wanted. Whilst the Triggertrap device is relatively cheap it is not able to do what I want. There are other remote triggering devices on the market that will trigger the shutter from distances in excess of 80 metres that cost around $100 (Australian). I am purchasing one for my purpose.

Serves a need, but not perfect

The app works as advertised but there are some interface issues. I preferred the look and feel of the previous version. Some of the settings are difficult to read (HDR screens). Otherwise, the app works well and does what I need.

Bob

This is a fantastic app, a welcome edition to my toolkit. The dongle you have to but to use it cost about $30 which is what I'd be happy to pay for the fun tailing of the app alone. There are a few minor issues with sound trigger mode, but I doubt most people will use that anyways. All in all a great app.

Great potential

Have ordered my trigger kit and can't wait to use it with my 5D mkii. App is a little buggy, but expected in a 1st release.
