If i could give it 0 stars i would.
So account recovery, it requires you use capture to prove i’m not AI. Capture gives me the tick of approval but steam says i did it wrong and retry. Like wise for starting a new account, hell just to contact you clowns and say oi what the?! Fix this damn thing, i have to use capture. Not an awesome business model if everything requires capture to fix. Nothing will get fixed, see you in foreclosure i guess.

This is very useful so I can download mods I can send pictures and clips so I can save them and put them somewhere. This is gonna be very useful because I am making a movie. Thank you for this app. I can find my dude stuff if I’m like across the globe I can just download the mods if there is stuff.

Sign in with a QR code on my iPhone? This has never worked with any other app but let’s try. Ok click the link for the QR code. Ok there it is on the browser page. So now I have to open the mobile app to scan the QR code…on the browser page…switch to browser…there’s the QR code…switch to mobile app (or any app that has the option to scan a QR code) to scan the QR code…ok on the mobile app now, oh can’t see the code now…better switch to the browser for the QR code so the app can scan it…ok on the browser page with the QR code…opening mobile app now to scan the QR code back on the browsers page…gotta switch back to the browser so I can see the QR code that the app has to scan…great there it is, now to scan it with the mobile app that isn’t the browser I’m currently using to visually display the QR code…selecting app to scan…hmmm QR code isn’t visible…ahh good still there on the browser page now that I’ve switched back to the browser…ready to scan with the mobile app I’m opening now…

So I would play Sims 4 using my dads laptop. This is a old laptop so it broke down. I had gotten an iPad and I saw a hack where you can play Sims 4 on iPad with this app. I had it down loaded and ready to play Sims. Great wrapper for storefront though lacking in library management features
The app does what it needs to really; give me a convenient & mobile-friendly way to look up games when I want to get a game on sale or when I find a recommendation on the Internet.
The only thing that bugs me about it is that you can’t add games to or organise your folders. Playing around with folders is not something I want to waste time on when I could be using my precious free time actually playing the games, but being able to do this on my commute would let me be a lot more productive.

worthless app. all the features have been gradually stripped out and now it’s just a glorified web store, except here’s the rub: the store barely works. it’s a nightmare to sign in and authenticate, sale pages usually terminate in a loading chunk error and there is literally no way to speak to anybody at valve about solving problems with your account. it’s like they’re so rich over there they don’t even want to lift a finger to help you spend your money on them. worthless app by a worthless company

How to sign in?
First downloading this app, it only has a sign in page. I unfortunately do not own a laptop currently and only have an iPad and iPhone. It then has no way of creating a new account and I spent 30 minutes of my life just trying to figure out how to sign up-surprise! Nothing worked!
I am extremely disappointed as Stream seemed like a easy way to access fun games, however I can even get inside the app.
Please fix this! It’s like the developers are trying to not get us to use Stream.

Steam won’t help you if you get hacked.
My account got hacked and my items and money were traded for basically nothing to the hacker’s accounts. This was very obviously a hack as I have never played these games and never traded on the marketplace. Steam Support will not refund it, they will only send you a copy-pasted message telling you they don’t refund trades. They are enabling these scammers to steal from you and not even trying to help us. Steam guard did not work as I did not receive any confirmation messages, nothing on Steam’s end thought these very obvious fraudulent trades were suspicious and they did not try to stop these, there is no setting for users to disable these market trades to protect themselves.

COMPLETELY USELESS, DONT DOWNLOAD
I’ve been playing steam on my laptop since 2021, and it worked perfectly fine. A week before my birthday, my laptop broke and I got a new iPad. I spent 200 bucks on this app for Christmas, and then my computer breaks. I download steam mobile, and then it says to play planet zoo open your laptop and then connect it to your mobile device and then you get the app on iPad. Well I tried it on my mum’s laptop, and her laptops storage is really full. So it said download planet zoo to transfer it to iPad, but she couldn’t because her storage is full. Great! I spent 200 bucks of Christmas gift money onto a stupid platform I couldn’t even use. Thanks for ripping me off valve!!! Update- Sorry Valve, but we fixed my laptop and now I can’t play steam again on desktop. We did manage to connect my iPad to my Mum’s computer before this, and it didn’t really work. I had to use steam link to get it fully running. But on desktop the graphics are stunning and gameplay is incredibly smooth! Keep up great work for further updates, Steam mobile deserves 4 stars!

Stuck on splash screen; app never opens
Of course the moment I need to log in on a new device, steam Authenticator fails me. Can’t even open the app on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Click steam app, infinitely stuck on the steam splash screen. I can rotate the screen horizontally to completely mess up the splash screen layout. That’s fun.
You know what would be more fun?
Being able to log into my stream account.
How about you just work with any regular TOTP app rather than forcing us to use your own? Microsoft did it relatively well, you didn’t.
I’d say valve’s Authenticator/app combo is somehow bordering-on being worse than Fortinet’s solution. Good job.

significantly improved over the old experience
while steam mobile is a somewhat niche app, it completes its core functionality of providing steamguard and gives you a mobile way to use the store. there’s only so much they can do to mask that steam is and always has been a thin UI over a web browser, but it’s certainly better than it was.

Steam Guard fail
Logging on to this app, after many years, suddenly resulted in a black screen. The problem was that I needed “Steam Guard” from this app to logon to Steam on my PC. This way annoying, to say the least, and it took hours before was able to logon to Steam on my PC again. I’m not sure if I’ll be using Steam Guard (or this app) again.
Addendum:
After removing and reinstalling this app, it did fix the problem. I’m still unimpressed and I’m still not inclined to use this app anymore.

Completely broken
The app search function is broken, and has been for about a year or so, with absolutely no word from valve on fixing this most basic feature. You search for a game, get a list of results, and then clicking on one just refreshes the page and refuses to link to the store page.
This is on iPhone and iPad, currently updated to the latest operating system.
That’s literally all I want to use this app for, searching for and then purchasing games and it doesn’t actually work for that, so it’s useless. If valve would even acknowledge the problem and that they’re working on it, that would be nice, but they haven’t so I guess they’re not?
In which case, why push this new app out when the old one actually did what it was designed for? Ridiculous behaviour and support for such a large company.

Complete useless garbage. It’s just a browser window for their mobile steam website but it barely works on iOS. Can’t do anything properly except landing page for steam store. I can’t really understand how a software company can release something so awful. Devs should be ashamed of this.

What’s the use in the app if you can’t search anything and open the page for the game ou’re looking at?
Total trash. I do love the service Steam provides in terms of being a store, but this is basic stuff Valve, come on.
Also the buttons on the bottom of the app screen have no accessibility labels so they’re utterly useless to those with a screen reader.
You have failed, it’s junk, burn and start again. You lose,. I don’t like being harsh, but this really is basic, simple stuff here. If you can’t get this right, you get roasted from me.

1 step work, 2 steps broken
First positive about this latest version is the store page looks new and accessible.
Now the negative
Last version I was able to open the game pages through the list of new releases and upcoming games now this feature doesn't even work.
Every time I'm on the games list and tap on any game to access the game page it would just refresh the games list and does nothing.
This has been a problem for awhile now and still on this version and even on PC. Every time I want to rate a review helpful or not Steam would give me a process 13 error which is the most annoying thing that's been on Steam for a long time now.

One feature missing…
Would love to see the ability to look at my games based on the categories I made. Having over 300 games makes it hard to scroll through. Categorising makes looking through them much easier than scrolling down through one massively long list.

Hate the update
I guess I found out why the old app was around so long… Really dislike the new app. Aside from my personal hatred of the new Steam Guard (no I don’t want to scan a QR!!), the app is buggy and broken. Every time I use the app I discover another thing broken. Given the app is a glorified browser for the steam website I don’t know how there are so many problems.

So I can't even buy games from my mobile app while away from my PC. This is a scam if you had a computer you would’ve just went on computer to play but on mobile you need to waste hundreds of dollars for a computer so you can just play on computer and make steam make you forget all about your mobile device it’s…a…scaaaama…don’t download this if you have a computer just use it

It’s well designed, easy to navigate and for what the app is intended to do (Library and Store management) it’s great.

New look, same broken mess
If you launch the app in landscape orientation, product search flat out doesn’t work. A lot of the time tapping Wishlist takes you to the page of the last product you were looking at, and you have to close and reopen the app to restore correct functionality. I could easily go on; there are just so many glaring bugs like this. Absolutely disgraceful for a company with such a huge user base.

Notifications
The app is a huge step up from what it was like before. It works pretty well but with the exceptions of a lot of bugs and a bit laggy. One thing to note is that the notifications don’t work, I have push notifications enabled in settings and turned on what I want to get notified but I don’t actually get the notifications on my phone, only in app. Otherwise the features on the app are really useful just needs improvements fixing the bugs.

Horrible update
Seriously the format and everything doesn’t work, the way it was before was far better, I can’t search for games as it literally just doesn’t work when I enter what I typed, the no landscape option is absolutely horrible.
Trying to figure out a completely new layout is just annoyingly unnecessary, please just upgrade the app by taking this abhorrent update down and rethinking what it is the app really needs.

New update
While the new update visually looks good, the app functions more as a store now than the social app I once used it for. The decision to separate chat into its own app is not a good one. Why can’t they both be integrated into one app? The friends tab in the new update is hard to find and difficult to use, with the mini profile appearing halfway off the screen. Needing two apps to do what I only needed one app to do in the past is incredibly frustrating.

Absolute garbage
The Steam app was bad before, but this new update (3.2) is something else. Chat's been stripped out of the app, several buttons only work once - if at all, parts of the screen are cut off and landscape mode - the one thing that barely made the app usable on a phone - is completely gone now. If you have a tablet or a very large phone, the app might be tolerable, but if not, everything is completely oversized to the point of illegibility. A lot of text in the app

with no way to expand it and the app ignores both iOS's text size setting and Safari's website zoom setting. The Steam website's "view desktop website" setting is absent from the app, too (although that's also useless without the ability zoom the screen in/out).
I recommend only using this app as an authenticator and sticking with the desktop client or a regular web browser for anything else.

No landscape mode
Why are so many apps being released currently with no capability to rotate to landscape? With the release of the new app, we are stuck in portrait mode. Landscape mode gives me easier access to the keyboard, allows me to use my iPad stand, and provides a more comfortable view for most apps. I’m an app developer myself. Providing flexibility in layout is important. Being stuck in portrait mode stinks. Please fix it.

Great breath of fresh air
What a great breath of fresh air the new app is - finally Steam has decided to be merciful of mobile users and fix their app!
New app is great; responsive, consistent with PC, and fixes the sign on issues of the previous app. Well done devs!
