great travelling app!
i love citymapper!! for a free service, it works great! i've used it twice for my holidays in both sydney and melbourne. i love that it can access all the public transport timetables in that city and plan a journey. i also like that you can have a choice between using buses, trams and trains and it'll plan a journey according to your choice. i love the notifications that pop up when you're taking a train that notifies you when to hop off. i think the app is simple to use and fairly intuitive. my only issue with citymapper is that it'll sometimes give longer routes and sometimes have inconsistencies in the public transport schedules. and there have been occasions where citymapper has lead me through buildings that were closed off/blocked for a journey.

I walk everywhere I want to walk to see multiple places on foot and it auto find. Best fast routes , currently it lacks ability to add any stops ?? How is this been overlooked ?

Better Than Google Maps (Especially for Neurodivergent Users)
This app is by far the most thoughtful when it comes to neurodivergent users and people with disabilities. The clear colour coding, simple layout, and helpful reminders (like when to leave or when you’re approaching your stop) make travel so much easier. I really love it. The timing is impressively accurate, and the audio guidance is helpful for people with mild visual impairments.
It even works perfectly on my old iPhone 7 — which shows how considerate the developers are about accessibility and inclusivity, especially for those who can’t always afford the latest devices. Honestly, it’s much better than Google Maps for getting around.

Good app but deceptive
Love the app, navigation is very whole and allows you to get place to place despite a slightly clunky UI. Would be getting four stars minimum except for this new feature last update, where there are little moving markers of where the bus is on its route like other apps have. Problem is I have worked out that these markers are merely computer programmed and not actually indicators of where the bus is. I have tested this by seeing the bus arrive on citymapper but it doesn’t in person, or citymapper displaying a bus moving when in fact it is a cancelled service. I find this feature a bit deceptive and a breach of trust. Other apps like tripview has accurate bus GPS, please install this!

Best travelling buddy
My cousin recommended it to me when I was visiting her in London and it helped me so much. I then went to Paris where I could also use which is great rather than having to switch to a separate app every new city you are in. Very easy to follow and I love that it shows you several options and the price for each. Would recommend 100%.

Absolutely invaluable!
I've used this app so far in Tokyo, London and Dublin and have found it to be brilliant. Tells me precise locations, what number bus, tram or train I need, where to get them, as well as providing accurate directions for walking. Way better than Google Maps. Only complaint is it's hard to shut down, and often remains open on my iPhone, which is annoying snd used up data. Any tis on this would be appreciated.

Middling at best until real time tram tracking reinstated
I reported an issue back in 2019 when real time tracking of trams in Melbourne suddenly stopped and went to timetables; as a result of no response and no change I stopped using the app and reverted to TramTracker. I decided to give CityMapper another go because it tracks time for the whole journey, but I see that it appears to still be using timetables. I paid for a subscription this time to support the devs, but I am reconsidering it and will def drop it if I stop using the app.

One of the most useful app
You can do so much with the app and the best thing is when you are overseas you can just switch the city and it is the same familiar experience without having to buy or purchase extra maps/ app. First the options of transport and routes are amazing. Giving you an endless of choices. The timing is fairly accurate - depending on the city you r in. The walking route is even better than google maps becuase it gives you a preview of the street view of the destination in a handy button. It even thinks of your safety by letting you share your trip with someone so that they can track your travel progress. The key is ALL these features are ALL in one map. easier to read and use then the other ones.

Incredible app, with one major issue
This app walks on google and apple maps, almost flawless- however there is one major problem: when switching trains, the app does not indicate what platform to go to at larger stations or stations not in the same building, this is incredibly confusing

it doesn't even have my area, Perth, which is a city with millions of people! Thousands of people could’ve had this app and yet you deny them even to use it? Horrible and uninformed! Love this app but wish it would show all real time departures rather than what it thinks I can make in time. Multiple times I’ve checked and seen a big wait, only to find out I could have made an earlier tram if the app allowed me to see it.

Good for travel to new cities
I use this when I go to a new city and not sure what their local transport app is. However I’ve had to remove a few stars because whoever writes the app updates text doesn’t seem to realise the Southern Hemisphere exists and has opposite seasons! Also the fare costs are sometimes not quite right for the airport trains.

The best transit app
I have about six transit apps - TripGo, Tripable etc. Citymapper is my favourite - I love the live routing when you are on public transport and the interface is fun and has more options than you can poke a stick at. Only downside is it doesn't work in my new city yet!

Horrible
Most of the features are behind a paywall. App only works in a handful of big cities. If you live outside of these, this app is useless. I tried a route in Sydney, I’m getting headaches when I see what this app is giving me. Horrible. I’m using Maps, which is free! And which also works in my tiny little town, I even get the train schedule. So if you like headaches and want to pay for features which you can actually get for free with Maps, this is your app. Have fun. I’ve deleted it.

walk route is incorrect results in missing train
The route from my location 15 Henley Road Thirroul to Austinmer station to travel to Sydney does not take into account the need to use the road bridge to the South to cross between platforms. The route shown on the app takes you to the wrong side of the track, and would require at least another five minutes after discovering nearer to walk back up the road across the road bridge to the correct platform. This app does not have a method for reporting these areas it appears

Beautiful design, but lacks one main feature.
First off, I have to say this is the most aesthetically pleasing transport app on the market. Everything works well, with many many features to explore, and I would love to use it as a daily driver, but it’s missing the most convenient feature.
Similar to the official PTV app, there needs to be a page where I can see saved stops going in one direction only.
Currently, the app’s saved stop feature shows every single train line in that specific station. I don’t need to know that, I just want to know the next train that will take me home/to work. That’s the point of a favourites page right?
And if possible, incorporate a “next departure” feature based on your nearest saved stop as a complication on the Apple Watch. Similar to app, NextThere.
I can’t wait for this to be implemented, as this will then become the all in one PT app I’ve been searching for. But until then, I’ll will wait patiently.

Difficult to navigate btw options although generally good!
It’s hard to navigate in and out of trip options since you can’t simply go “back”. Also, the light rail doesn’t seem to be an option? Only busses and trains..
Other than that it’s super helpful since it will send you a notification of when to get off etc!

Brilliant
Would give Citymapper 6 stars if I could. On a family holiday in Europe it was great getting us around London, dealing with track work and closed tube stations to get us onto buses as needed. And then when we arrived in Paris to be greeted by a strike, Citymapper still managed to get us across town with no problems at all. Best app ever.

Doesn’t work on Apple Watch 5
I downloaded citymapper and set home and work as shortcuts on the iPhone app.
Too bad that when I click on “home” or “work” on my Apple Watch it keeps saying that I need to set home and work on the iPhone app first even tho they’re set up.
I tried to save these 2 places on saved places as well but they don’t show on my Apple Watch at all.
I had to delete the app sadly, I’ll have to stick with the Apple maps app for my watch.

This is a next level app - with one exception
I’ve been waiting for a travel app like this for a long time.
It could be better if it was smarter. For instance, to get it my work near Barangaroo, sure I could walk from Townhall Station - or better yet, I can switch train lines and catch a connecting train to Wynyard.

Especially when it comes to itineraries and directions. The public transport live timings are far more accurate and reliable than the Google Maps’s ones. Also the whole experience of the Citymapper is great and the tone of voice is lovely. Best utility app on my phone.

Bring back citymapper ride
App was amazing the last time I used it. Now that Citymapper ride is no more, which honestly was my favourite part about the app, it just set it apart from all the other apps, I have a hole in my heart yearning for the citymapper ride. Other than missing the funny little gag it honestly is a great app for those who don’t drive a car themselves.

I use Citymapper almost every day of the week in Sydney and across the globe!
Love the handy ‘drop bear friendly’ section for when it’s late or raining and I don’t want multiple changes or to walk long distances.
Shows re routes I would have never thought of and makes public transport easy to navigate!

Most useful app in your phone (London)
Amazingly intuitive app, which gives you exactly all the info you need to know to get from A to B. It gives you the ETA, travel time, walking distances, and cost for all the options. This helps you optimise for different things at different times: in a rush (minimise ETA), feeling tired (minimise walking distances or changes), feeling skint (minimise cost), or feeling like an interesting journey (choose the bus).
I started using CityMapper in London in 2014, where it was easily best app on my phone. It helped me start using buses, which were previously a no-go because of how tricky it is to combine route/timetable info.
I use it less in Sydney as the live bus times are not as accurate as TripView. I mainly use it for non-standard journeys, and in combination with TripView.

I’ve been using this app to get around London and it is making traveling around much easier. Lots of options, Easy to follow instructions and very helpful. Only down fall is the amount of battery it uses. Apart from that would recommended!

The best app for travellers
I love this app and use it extensively when travelling. It gives you every option to go from A to B walking, driving, cycling or by public transport, down to the best carriage on a train to take the exit or make a transfer. This app is all I need - I don't need to download tube maps in London or MRT maps in Singapore. One click and I've despised cities and have all the info I need on one app. I highly recommend this app

A must for Europe
I used city mapper extensively for a month in Rome, then Milan, Berlin and London.
In Rome it was an absolute life saver! I had a 1 month public transport pass and was able to traverse the city like a local. Never let me down and got me into the places that were much further out of track like Hadrian’s villa.
Get this app, get a cheap data phone plan and unlock the world!

The best
As long as your city is supported, you can guarantee this will be miles ahead of the likes of Apple or google maps. One of the issues with Melbourne is having to check across several different apps when you want to find out which stop to get off if it’s a tram, or which platform to change on for the train, great for people who aren’t used to the city or even if you’re going somewhere new

Get me home
I just love using this App when travelling in a foreign country or city. The get me home (or work) feature just works! And the choices between various forms of transport also works brilliantly. Also, the direction pointing shadow helps no end.
Thank you for a great App, but I think we should have to pay for it (at least $2 to $5).

Best Navigation App Ever!
I am from a very small country town so whenever I am in a big city I am always worried how I will get around. I have used this app in New York, Seoul and Sydney, it was so easy to use, it helped me get anywhere I wanted. I can’t recommend this app enough for anyone travelling.

Saved me about a million times from being lost overseas
This app is SO good!!! The thought that’s gone into it (providing maps on the home page of the city you’re in, train timetables etc) and providing 5 or 6 different ways to get to where you’re going with a very easy step by step guide. It’s SO GOOD! I’ve suggested it to heaps of peeps :D

Only missing correct ‘live updates’
This app is amazing and I love all the features. The only thing that stops me from giving 5/5 starts is the fact that it’s missing live updates. One example: I was waiting for the buss in bondi junction and it said that the best one (it of 5 busses) would arrive in 23 minutes. 2 minutes after that, 5 busses arrived.
That feature is the only think that make me keep ‘tripview’ as an alternative app even though yours is waayyyy better.

You need to download this public transport app
I've been using the PTV app in Melbourne which is the official government one. This Citymapper app blows it out of the water. This app has so many excellent features like: current time arrivals of trams trains buses. I usually have to open up 3 other apps to get that info and it's all here.
I love the periscope function which is the real street image of the stop you want to get to.
It even has calorie counting and environment impact by choosing public transport.
Love love love. Highly recommend and you won't be disappointed with this app. 10 out of 10 from me.
