About the Tivizen TV Tuner
This app requires an Elgato Tivizen device. The Tivizen mobile TV tuner has a small, extendable and extremely robust aerial that receives the television signal (DTT/DVB-T/TNT/Freeview). Tivizen transmits that TV signal over to your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or computer. It sets up its own Wi-Fi hotspot or can be integrated into your home Wi-Fi network to be accessed by all computers and mobile devices. Tivizen does not require an internet connection and gives you unlimited TV without touching your data plan.
Elgato's Tivizen device also works great as a wireless TV tuner for a Mac or PC. Watch, record, edit and enjoy live TV on your computer, completely free from cables. Also, Tivizen can be connected directly with a Mac and PC via USB cable. Elgato's Tivizen mobile TV tuner comes with award-winning EyeTV software for Mac and THC software for Windows.
Important notes
• The availability and amount of program data varies by broadcaster.
• DTT/DVB-T/TNT/Freeview broadcasts vary in bitrate. Playback quality of high bitrate channels may be limited by 802.11g Wi-Fi network bandwidth.
• Elgato Tivizen supports MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 video in standard definition as well as DVB-T radio, if available. High definition channels, encrypted programs and/or DVB-T2 broadcasts are not supported.

Perfect
I live in Fremantle, Perth W.A. Set it up at home inside and got 16 channels, took it in the garden and scanned again I got 24 channels, perfect for sitting outside with the tv on, as I travel alot this is great for camping and sitting in airports signal permitting.!! Haven't tried to record anything yet, in my area the buffering signal is minimum and to be expected as its wifi.. All in all a fantastic product for me

Works Well in a Timber House
I'm happy with Tivizen and have it setup at home in rural Queensland on the wireless network with good reception. I have found that it doesn't get good reception everywhere, but will generally get some reception. The app is simple and easy to use. It would be useful to be able to set shows to record in advance.

Does not work in Melbourne.
Check your area's signal strength first. Tivizen has very poor reception. In a middle suburb (near the Chadstone Apple store) in Melbourne it picked up one channel indoors and just four (out of 20) outdoors in an elevated position. There is good signal strength in the area because TVs work fine without an aerial. Sorry, Tivizen does not make the grade.

So far so good
Only purchased a few days ago tuned into around 16 channels an picture is excellent. A little break up at times. Recording is handy but can't set timer recording and file sizes are huge. 1 minute of recorded TV is around 40MB!!
didn't expect to get the HD channels but would've been nice. The app interface is basic but easy to use. I hope the app is updated with new features in the future perhaps record quality to reduce file size. Keep it up.

Fails to find any channels at all
Bought a tvizen in australia which came without eyetv and Mac compatibility but worked on iPhone and iPad ok for 720p.. Had to get a uk one when in uk to get the full advertised functions but time after time problems getting any channels at all in the uk using the uk version. went to support and zero help. Have to give this product 0 data td for ik version and one star for Aussie specific one!

I love my Tivizen on my iPad. It's clear and has an easy UI. You need to be with a few meters of the unit for the best reception. I use it at home. The Chanel's are limited where I live. This product would do well to have the option connection to plug into a wall antenna for home use if reception is poor. Quality of the device is 10 out 10. Good with updates.

feedback
probably one of the most convenient things ive bought. UI is user friendly. maybe a couple of things that i know could easily be added to this product, would be:
a) ability to pause recording. (ie. to record television and pause during commercials) that way the recording remains one single file, saves unnecessary use of storage space and easy play back without commercials.
b) the ability to change the wifi name
of the unit.
c) background recording.
im sure those are fairly easy to integrate into the next version of this app & the unit's firmware.

Tivizen great idea
I purchased this to use on my iPad at work. I can get on average 22 channels where I can't get any with bunny ears on my tv. Can't get channel 7 tho.

Poor reception
Pity I hadn't read the reviews before purchase, I'm also from Melbourne approx. 15km from CBD and cannot pick up all channels even though I can physically see the Dandenong's where they are broadcast from, couldn't get ch. 7.
From inside the house all I get is the SBS channels and ch. 44.

Buyer Regret
I went out and spent $199 on a Tivizen and when logged into Elgato was asked to choose if I wanted for MAC, PC or IPad app - chose the latter, but later decided if I wanted to see TV on my PC, I should download the PC software as well - no go. It's like buying a TV but being only allowed to watch it in the room where you first choose to look at it.
My purchase only allows me to have TV access on one piece of hardware only it would seem - so for me, it's my iPad only. When I applied for the PC download I was told that the activation code was not possible for PC after having downloaded the iPad version. There is no warning on the paperwork with the hardware nor on the website that your choice is irrevocable and permanent without buying another Tivizen.
When I did get the App up and running, I got one channel after the first scan (which I could not view anyway) and then a further 8 channels on the 2nd scan - but trying to view anything was impossible. Even though I could see what program was screening presently, I couldn't view anything. I live in Melbourne Vic and appear to be yet another victim.

Great little unit
Great idea, however, big waste of money. The receiver unit is too small, reception is the biggest problem. I live in Perth 10mins out of the CBD and can't get reception, unless I'm standing out side with the antenna above my head!!!!!!!
Works perfectly when in the heart of city, waste of time for me.

Only grimmace was it would not play HD on ipad but it is really handi to use in city or bush if signal is available

This is a good unit but the app needs to support HD transmissions. Apart from this it's pretty good.

Tivizen 1.3.1
App worked well enough until the recent update to 1.3.1 on my iPad where it requires a password to open, i.e. to be recognised. This requirement seems a new requirement and there isn't any means of setting one or changing one. Further more any attempt to type anything in the password slot causes the Join button to grey out. So the app is now useless. I hope another update comes soon to correct this problem.

This app is great but the inability to view the hd channels is a problem even though they are tuned in. Are there any plans to provide the ability to view the hd chanels

Get one!!!
Had one now for a month and use it with both iPad and iPhone and it works well. Like all mini tuners it needs a reasonable signal area to work best but I've been surprised at just how many TV stations it can pick up. The wife can now keep up with her favourites when we travel. Keeps her happy: what more can I say!
Will update my review on the just announced software update when I've tried it. This review covers how the whole lot works together, app plus hardware tuner unit. I'd give it 4.5 stars right now if I could. New s/w could make it 5!!
