Description

Control an army struggling for survival in the post-apocalyptic world. Choose one of the 4 unique factions—Moloch, Borgo, The Outpost, The Hegemony—and defeat your opponent in tactical warfare. Play solo against an AI opponent or against a human player in an asynchronous cross-platform multiplayer mode.
Prove that you have what it takes to survive:
March with the machines of Moloch, leading its army toward setting the new world order.
Become Borgo and unite the forces of the mutants who spread terror in the wastelands.
Lead The Outpost, humanity's last and only hope, and try to beat the machines in against-the-odds guerrilla warfare.
Be the boss of The Hegemony, a land of gangers uncaring about the fate of others, living only for violence and their mad entertainment.

Poor form

App was great, then it got a lower quality full rewrite, with the majority of DLC people paid for being unavailable. Then they launched new DLC even with the old stuff still not re-implemented.
Game has not been updated in 2 years, old DLC still not brought back despite a pop up on launch claiming it is only “temporarily unavailable”.

Bring back the old version

Please fix this game. It used to work well, now can only play 2 players. I have waited long enough for this to be fixed. If you can not fix this game, I want a refund

What happened?

I haven’t played this game in a while but was recently telling a friend about how awesome it is. It was one of the first games I got for my iPod years and years ago along with carcassone.
Imagine my surprise when I downloaded this (ahem) “UPDATED” version only to find that they seem to have gotten a child to redo all the artwork really badly, my old armies had to be bought again and now the ai has become rubbish and slow. Not to mention multiplayer seems to only be for 2 players…
What?
Did they lose the rights to the art?
Did they need to redesign it so it could data mine me in the background or something?
It’s completely baffling.
A brilliant game that was pretty much released in perfect condition, has been (ahem) “updated” to something that feels like a beta test…
Oh well at least carcassone hasn’t, been rui….. AH WHAT THE HELL?

Used to be a great game.

This used to be a fantastic game, but the recent updates have completely destroyed the game. You can now no longer play any 3 or 4 player games. The graphics have been made worse, and the AI is now incredibly slow. Please restore the old game that I aid for.

Looking forward to the old factions being brought back. Just give them time. Would be good if you could view your win rates etc versus different armies.

Very disappointing since 2021 update

Unfortunately this app is now a shell of what it used to be. This used to be my go-to game on iPhone. I had played literally thousands of games against the AI and loved the variety of armies available.
But all that has changed since the 2021 update. Here are some of the lowlights:
- Reduction from 9 paid-for factions to 2, with no roadmap for when the other purchased armies will be restored
- Slow and buggy AI
- Interface more difficult to read on small screens
- Single player can only be against one AI faction. The previous version allowed play against up to 3 AI factions which is infinitely more interesting. This final point is, to me, a deal breaker.
If I could roll back to the previous version I would.

Why did you ruin the game?

Version 3.1 was an astounding game, so why on earth did you ruin it with this new update? The graphics and aesthetics are god awful, the menus are garbage, I can’t play with more than two players because the third and fourth player slots don’t do anything. And whats with this ‘unlucky draw rule’ This feature should be optional and allowed to be turned off, including for the AI players. I liked Version 3.1, but this new update has made the game very much unplayable. Please give us the option to revert to Version 3.1. I never asked for this update.

You are killing me with these changes

Why does the developer want to change a perfect game
These aesthetics are ugly and hard to see on a screen
Seriously spoilt my day with the changes

Will be deleting it
Bad bad bad “update”

Great game, does online play not work?

I love this game, the ai is great to play against (though I question if it cheats and can pull whatever tile it wants for the situation), the aesthetic is excellent, but playing online I have no idea how to get that running. I’d give this a 5 star review if it was explained to me how to play online. Unless the online play has been disabled. Anyways I love this game, it is a great quick strategy game and is probably the best version of the game, I imagine the hard copy board game is a bit fiddly with all the pieces, this app does all that for you. Close to perfect game and app

Time waster but not amazing

Easy to learn easy to play, passes the time. But for the cost there's a bajillion better game apps available.. let along the gall to ask for $20+ just to get some new characters on top of the original purchase cost!
Maybe the board game is okay, but this just isn't worth the money.

Great game! But

it can be a bit frustrating when you get three pieces that are all useless at a crucial point in the game... Generally, really absorbing, like checkers meets chess meets Stratego meets war gaming. But yeah, luck can be a bit too important sometimes.

Addictive Lite Wargame

Neuroshima Hex is a fun and easy wargame which strikes the right balance between tactics and strategy. With in-app purchases there are 13 different armies, which are each unique and require special strategies. The game involves lots of in-depth decisions, but the random draw of the tiles plays a significant role in determining the winner, and often overturns the best strategies, so I can't give it 5 stars.

Interface what!?

The game itself is cool with heaps of variety. Different factions to play with and play against. Game explains the rules fine, looks good, functions great.
Except for one thing: multiplayer "asynchronous play" is so horrible. Reason being that if you ever minimise the app, turn off your screen, view another notification, you're logged out! And logging in for MP takes about 2 minutes - a real vibe killer. Frustrated.

Excellent but buggy

I really like this game, but it is a bit buggy. In info mode, it constantly crashes. I rarely get a game where I don't have to close the app and restart to enable me to continue playing after the game has frozen. If this was fixed would be much much better. As a newbie I find info mode paramount to game play, as I learn the different cards of each new set. Still good though, but for a the money, my expectations are a lot higher.

AaronBL

Not that good

Steep learning curve, gameplay depends more on luck on the pieces you get than actual strategic placement of pieces or strategic movement. Interesting concept but lacks depth to be called a strategic turn based game. But overall a really well made game which developers spend a lot of time making.

Great game but needs active multiplayer

Game needs to encourage multiplayer online gaming through a time limit system per turn and online ladder ranking to compete for top spot. Outwitters does this pretty well. This game has more depth but I would love an active online ladder system.... this needs a time limit per turn, and win-loss record and a ranking record. deep strategy overall

Version 2.3.0
2013-06-18

Great game!

If you like the Lite version, this is a recommended purchase, as it significantly increases the number of matchups and provides more challenge in terms of varying AI levels & multiplayer.
The 4 different groups require you to play in different styles, for example Moloch is strength, but almost no mobility, whereas Outpost is mobility and range, but limited strength and numbers. To win without relying too much on luck, you must modify your strategy to take advantage of your group strengths, while minimising that of your opponent(s). Have fun!

Worth it, brilliant

NS Hex is deep and strategic once you get your head around the rules, and what the tiles do. To this end I found NS Hex Puzzle (sold as a separate app) useful, as an interactive tutorial. Reading the rule book will just give you a headache.
If you like strategy games this is one of the greats (and if you like this one try Ascension).

Outpost perhaps a little less puny

I really love this game, always playing it. But I seriously think that the out post really needs some sort of buff. (I know this is against the original board game.) Since it is extremely hard to beat moloch (or any faction really) in a one on one battle. Even against an Ai on easy. Just something small, like even more maneuverability. Try it, one on one battle against moloch you playing the outpost see how difficult it is.

Solid game

I've had this game on my iPad for a while, but never played it. I found it a bit complicated and couldn't be bothered learning the rules. Recently, however, I played the board game version with friends and now I haven't been able to put my iPad down. This is great experience if you enjoy the game and it comes across very well on the iPad. Best played with friends at your weekly board game meetings. The price may seem fairly high for an app, but it's peanuts in comparison to the cost of fully fledged board game.

Best game on iPhone!

This game is extremely well designed and balanced. I love the hex tile style although the lack of visual unit animations in battles may turn some off (not me though). I personally find the style and strategy perfect, I have not encountered any flaws in gameplay as some people have reported, probably due to them not understanding the rules, and the unique strategy keeps me coming back for different battles each time. This is going to be on my iPhone forever! Excellent work so far on converting a Polish board game into a superbly translated iOS game, I love the graphical style, music, the deep strategy. A must have for turn based strategy fans.
I had never heard of Neuroshima Hex or the world of Neuroshima before stumbling upon this in the App Store. Having done some research since, I can see what future updates will hold. I can't wait for the Duel expansion factions (love the Babel 13 ones by the way), and an option for a larger board would just rock my world - please include it with the next update! Perhaps being able to double-tap to zoom and drag to scroll the playing area would help fit it in the screen. I'm going to buy every single expansion that you ever make for this game - I'm a fan for life.

Great conversion.

NS is shaping up as an excellent total conversion. I've heard users complain that it needs to be changed now that it's a computer game - but the purpose is that it is an iOS BOARD GAME. I also find claims that it's too random and is completely reliant on drawing the right tiles - but for this attitude I'll give a riddle: If the skilled player almost always wins, what is the basis for his win? NS is about optimisation. Using what you've got to the best of your ability. Optimise correctly and chances are you won't be losing out to your inability to cope with randomness. It's usually your own fault if you leave a gaping hole in your defenses. Nice, smooth interface - I haven't stumbled over any "not quite right" situations as far as the rules are concerned. This is a great replacement for the original board game.

Fun game

It took me a while to get into NH but once I got a feel for the game it got a lot more fun. You do need to work through the tutorials but it is a good game and i would recommend it if you have some patience and like board games. I have never played the original board game so I don't know how faithful the reproduction is.

Addictive fun

It may take a few games to understand it properly, but once you do its a great and addictive strategy game. This is beating out Angry Birds for my attention, which is saying a lot!

Excellent

I've been enjoying it for quite awhile now and haven't seen the problems some of the others are experiencing. Some imbalance between forces, but each is varied enough to make it enjoyable. I have the board game also and am not fussed by the cost of the app. The puzzle version is awesome!

Shiny and Shallow

The game presents well. The interface is intuitive. The different 'armies' provide variety.
The low score is because the game fails to deliver on its key selling point: strategy. A lucky draw will beat a skilled opponent every time.
If you are satisfied with fortune deciding the winner you may enjoy this game. If you are interested in strategy: buy something else.

o.O

I have to say this is such a well built game that is well worth the price, big learning curve as with the normal apps for iPod I've let me brain go dead but with this game every move and determin a win or a loose. The multiplayer support is great, I love playing this game with my girlfriend on the train. A online support for multiplayer would be great! ^^

Best played upside down in portrait mode

A really good game. What bothers me the most about it is that it was designed for landscape mode. There seems to be no reason for this. I have been playing it in portrait mode, upside down because the card and next turn buttons are at the top of your phone. It plays perfectly well this way, except that it is irritating that all the text is sideways.
If you are wondering why anyone would do this, well I can play with one hand and have a coffee, a snack, standing on the bus.
Otherwise this is one of the best turn based strategy/board games I've tried on iPhone. Well worth the price of a coffee even if I do have to play it in a funny way.
