Frustrating When You Can’t Comment

So many articles that people are unable to give their opinion on and not all articles are posted to Facebook either. Often there is a family or other group of people that have come unstuck (can’t get home due to COVID etc.) and you can’t even comment to give them ideas or solutions!

Any opinion post needs to allow for differing opinions to be shared and viewed by the readers

This is a good news app for those who live overseas to keep in touch with NZ BUT, even though I have contributed it keeps asking for money in every article.

Annoying reload

The reporting is often of low quality, but the readers comments make up for that 10 fold.

But the most annoying thing is every time you close the app and reopen it reloads the home page back to the top, so several times whilst reading the news, you have to keep scrolling down trying to find where you left off. This has been an issue for quite sometime, and every time there is an update I always think that this will be addressed, but alas...

Updates to Quizzes are terrible

Rebuild of the daily quiz is really bad.

- pictures often fail to load, making certain questions impossible to answer

- if you accidentally drag downwards, it reloads the quiz and you lose your place

- why on earth would you replace “play more quizzes” with “play again” at the end of the quiz? Why would I want to do the exact same quiz immediately after having just done it?

Guys, come on...

Surely we could make an app that doesn’t have to restart whenever you leave it. I hate whenever I’m reading an article and say, I go to reply to a text message, I reopen the app and it restarts at the loading screen. Have to go find the article again, scroll down etc.

It’s annoying and I know none of the other news apps I rely on experience the same issue.

Also, there are a lot of garbage people amongst your readers, I see a lot of hate paired alongside your articles. You find that whenever you allow people to make a comment, but that’s just the time we live in.

Useless

The trivial, celebrity orientated articles along with the constant spelling errors have forced me to delete this app. Spell check is a free tool. I appreciate you’re too cheap to pay proper editors, but there is no excuse of how frequent you stuff up

Stuck when reading an article

The previous version worked really well. This new one keeps on going stuck when reading an article. Fix the bugs. It’s spoiling the app. I’ve had to delete and re-download, but still does the same.

Slow and freezing

Stuff has gone from must have app for NZ news to top advert for NZ Herald app. These stupid PowerPoint type 'videos' that are data heavy have slowed the app and it frequently freezes. It was once 'light' and quick with great content and speed. Now it is heavy with data and poorer in content, with frequent need to close the app due to freezing. Such a shame, but the Herald now blitzes this on several fronts.

Terrible

I only downloaded this again so I could write this review. While the app is easy to navigate, the content is terrible! From boring non-news articles to nasty scathing election coverage because they didn’t have anything else to write about. Stuff used to be good but now it just needs a clean out of the below average ‘journalists’ that write for it. Download nzherald instead. While they also write a lot of rubbish, they also have some genuine journalistic talent on their staff.

Awful

It's not a news source and is impossible to find actual news articles, written by actual reporters, that have some pretence of who, what and when. You can try and play 'spot the fact', but you will lose.

Instead it is simply a collection of comments from randoms and members of the public to short and ill informed headlines and opening paragraphs, that more often than not, don't actually lead to actual stories, just maybe an opinion piece from another random.

But as for finding a actual News article. Good luck!!

The latest update does not load on iPad 2 devices.

Ads are too big

They have taken to making the ads so big you can't help but accidentally touch them when scrolling which then redirects you to a web page you likely have no interest in. Greed is the winner again.

Video articles' content is usually completely uninformative, often just a shot with no audio story. Headlines frequently don't match content. Used to be better than this..

Please repair

What used to be a five star rating is at best a two for your app. Since the latest IOS9 update your app won't download articles. They open but are stuck with the roundly whirly twirly thingy making promising movement, but that's it.

I'm sadly stuck with the Heralds app for my NZ news now!

Also I'm still waiting for the local news section being repaired and resent to my email account daily as was promised months ago.

Love stuff for my kiwi news fix, however latest updates have seen the app freeze mid article and only solution is to completely restart the app. This is starting to drive me nuts!
