Cancel Lingq
I just wanted to try this app for one month only.
So I chose one month option however I didn’t use this app after trying few times.
But it’s automatically take the money from my credit card again.
I didn’t know even if I chose one month option , the membership will be extended automatically.
I cannot find how to cancel it.

Great for extensive reading
LingQ has helped me grow my proficiency in foreign languages. It makes looking up unknown words extremely easy, minimising the disruption to reading. The ability to import pdfs, ebooks, and text and generate lessons from them is brilliant.

Intuitive - It’s all Pattern recognition
The aim of the game with this app is pattern recognition!
Tried learning (in my case Spanish) for about 6 months independently and couldn’t remember a word of it, been using LingQ for about the same time and made more progress in one week than I did that in that whole 6 months!
It’s not aiming to make me fluent rather, to give me the knowledge of someone who is fluent as quickly as possible so I can get to speaking and experiencing the culture (in my case Spanish) as quickly as I can.
I haven’t found a way of learning that is so intuitive as what this app provides.

Once you’re done with the beginner apps
Start with Duolingo, then smash the Anki flash cards, and once you’re finished with beginner stuff get yourself a subscription to LingQ. It’s a fantastic way to listen to podcasts, read articles and track the words you are learning.

Once I worked out how to load ebooks into LingQ everything fell into place for me. I believe in the method and the theory of language acquisition. I am at the intermediate level in Italian.
I still do Italian conversation classes but now not to learn. I go for the social contact more than anything.

I recommend this app to everyone as the best language learning app available. It does have its faults - the transcription isn’t very good for the content I upload (especially québécois content). But that is still outweighed by the benefits of this app for language learning.

Good repetition
I like this program, however it could do with some adjustments in the Persian program, for example not duplicating LingQs for texts with vowel markers. It also struggles with this language due to how many modifying prefixes and suffixes there are.

Issues with Phrase Selection and AI Translation in the iOS App
I frequently encounter an issue when trying to select phrases that are split between two lines, with part of the phrase on one line and the rest on the next. This makes it difficult to select the entire phrase, and I would appreciate it if this could be improved.
Additionally, I would like to confirm whether ChatGPT is being used for the AI translation feature. I have noticed that at times, idioms and proverbs are translated literally, leading to incorrect meanings. This requires me to manually adjust the translations, which can be quite inconvenient.
I would appreciate it if these issues could be addressed.

Bought premium and the app hasn’t given me access to premium features
I recently downloaded the app and upgraded to premium. The subscription shows in my Apple subscriptions and the money has been pulled from my account, but the app hasn’t updated to give me premium access. Emailed support and got an automated message saying I’d have a response in a few hours but it’s been almost a day and nothing back. Very frustrating as I want to start properly making use of the app.

Would be worth it if it had lemmatization
The ability to track ones familiarity with words on a scale of 0 to 5 is a simple but good one, and it was the main part of this app I found useful. However I do not think such an easy to implement feature justifies the price of the subscription, especially when it does not recognise different forms of a word as being the same (lemmatization). As a result, the numbers of words the app reports you know is misleading. A good app, but missing a basic feature that might justify the price.

Perfect app for language acquisition. Polyglots use this technique
Please optimise your app for keyboard with iPad. Please allow it so you can use the arrow keys to move it to the next word. On the web version this is possible, but on the app version it does not work. Please make it work Steve & co. I started using LingQ premium and it’s just stopped showing sentence mode which is a critical feature.
No help about it.

Just downloaded LingQ
I just downloaded LingQ and it is so much better than other language learning apps and just overall gives a good vibe but premium is so expensive especially since I’m a student who works part time earning minimum wage. I want to keep LingQ but with 20 LingQs per day it’s frustrating. I would 100% pay for premium if it was cheaper.

The Best Language Learning Application
Lingq helped me achieve fluency in Italian. I imported content that I liked, repeated it many times, studied words and sometimes used the inbuilt flash cards. Also, the latest update made the application even better!
Thank you to Steve and the team for creating such an unbelievable application, it’s worth ever dollar of the subscription. Once you learn how to use the application and import material you will get the hang of it very quickly. I tried many applications to learn languages but this is the one I finally settled on, I am happy I found it by chance.
Note, this did not solely get me to fluency, I watched TV in Italian, spoke on exchange with native speakers and did many other things. Lingq helped facilitate the process.
One point of feedback, the name Lingq is not an approachable name, I try to recommend it to my friends and they all spell it wrong or are flat out confused.
Other than that, the application is an unbelievable asset to any language learner and I recommend it 100%.

The most important language learning tool
Since may of this year I haven’t been able to work while recovering from an operation, I roughly knew around 50 words in Spanish before adding LingQ to my resources. I can now hold conversation ranging from different topics, use a basic understanding of subjunctive and freely roam between all time tense conjugations in español. This wouldn’t have been possible without LingQ, and it has been a great project to help me through COVID and surgery recovery.

Good but bad UX, bad bugs
I really wanted to get excited about LingQ (and I was) but now I am beginning to regret spending money on this app.
Pros:
* customisable lessons (you upload your own). This is the biggest draw.
* hence customisable vocab (you choose definitions)
* fast customer service response (but can’t really help you much)
Cons:
* streaks will break for no reason and you have to start over. I’ve had to start over twice in about 5 weeks even though I was using it daily. They don’t know why it breaks, and can’t help you repair the streak. (They can, but only under certain circumstances, i.e. they can’t). Streaks are important because you want to develop a learning habit. So streak-breaking is very de-motivating.
(But of course you can repair it if you spend more money.)
* the iOS app is limited: you can’t edit lessons here.
* I’ve lost material due to sync problems.
* they don’t remember your cookie settings so it keeps showing you “how to” hints again and again, which quickly becomes annoying.
Bottomline: Great idea but implementation is buggy, not motivating. Imho not worth paying unless you can get it on deep discount. Stick with other free apps with more consistent UX and performance.

Love the method, hate the business model
Great content, a promising method for learning and nice natural reading by native speakers. However I was only half way through the second story when I hit the pay wall and audio is the only option that I can see. Subscription prices are on the upper end for this style of app. Is it worth it? Maybe, but the app makes you decide about an hour in, which is too soon for me to feel comfortable committing.

Best app for learning a language. I use a lot of different methods for learning French, however I find Linq the most well rounded, great for reading, learning new words and listening. I’m surprised more people don’t use it.

Great premise but pay2play
I really liked using LingQ; it was really aiding my reading skills and improving my vocabulary in an enjoyable way. But then I came across the pay wall. You can only translate a limited number of words before it is required to buy the premium feature (which is quite expensive). I initially thought that paying for it only added more to the experience, but it’s needed to actually HAVE the experience, which is disappointing.
If you’re willing to pay then go ahead... but if not, look elsewhere.

A great way to learn languages
The LingQ idea seems quite solid and seems to mark off most of the language learning requirements. I do prefer the web interface. I don't like that it won't let me move to the next page of text without creating LingQs even though I know all the words on that page. I also don't think the flash card system works particularly well for Japanese. It's also frustrating to have to change the keyboard all the time when writing answers.

Excellent app
I have spent years self studying languages, one up to a fairly high standard, and I have looked at many different ways of learning languages, and I think this is definitely one of the best. It’s a really enjoyable app, but more importantly, it’s very useful. I am usually too cheap to pay for things, but I happily pay for this app.

Necessary app for language learning
I’ve been bashing away at French using mostly apps to learn for eight months. This one just feels right! It’s got me listening and reading French and enjoying it each day. The others are good, and I still use them, but if you are learning a language, use this app. It takes a bit more effort to understand how to use it, but make the effort, it’s worth it.
Only thing is the actual interface, i guess “user experience” could be improved a little. Everything works well, it’s just a little clunky. Not a big deal at all, but just in case someone is reading this looking for a way to make this great app better...

Surprisingly effective
I’ve been learning languages (slowly) for a while and this actually works. Doing French and I have had a hard time finding advanced french material online since I passed my B2 DELF exam last year. Might finally get around to learning Swedish next year. Thanks Steve.
