Ripoff

...what even is this. How can they justify charging 24.99 for an app only to get inside and find that hardly any of the options are available after BUYING THE FULL VERSION. Most of the amps and effects still require you to purchase them individually for 5 bucks a pop. This is about as close to a scam as you can get. The sounds are actually okay but im left feeling like ive been duped out of my money. Joke, avoid. Go try ampkit

Not The Full Version.

How is this the full version if you still have to pay for the majority of the pedals, amps, cabs?
Feels more like a trial version.
Yet another IK ripoff!

👌👌👌

This is amazing, I can play bass anywhere I please with a whole list of tools at my disposal. I keep my iRig 2 in an old glasses case and bring my gear over to my girlfriends when we're having a quiet night. I don't think I've ever spent better money. The practice I can get in to each day now is phenomenal. Thank you IK

Too expensive

Handy practice tool running through headphones the feature for playing music from your library is good. But here's my beef:
Sounds horrible and noisy running through the irig stomp pedal into my amp.
iPhone version and iPad versions are two separate purchases and the in app purchases are not across both devices either.
The iPhone version has terrible latency and seems extremely noisy. The latency issue makes it unusable.
I've parted with too much coin buying Ik media products. Don't follow my mistake

Going small? Don't!

I've got this running well on an iPad and wanted to run it on an iPod Touch for reasons of convenience. Asked to pay again for the app and lost some purchases and took years for it to play nice with BlueBoard.

I'm out ..

Another update: Bought the Reverb pedal. It's really low quality and grainy. With longer decay times you can hear the micro delays. Meh..
Get rid of the splash screen and pop up messages advertising the new iRig HD on startup. Seriously, stop.
Basically the app is fine although surely the iPhone version doesn't need to be limited to only 3 stomp boxes and only 4 recording channels anymore. Other apps do more than this. Also the layout is extremely cramped when compared to other similar apps.

rubbish app try ampkit instead

forget this app it does not work paid for all the in apps etc..i have had nothing but trouble with the app since day one. the sound quality when it allows you to get a sound is poor it is not worth the cost and aggravation there is no good sound in this bundle the help and support do respond but with no fix except to say the user must be at fault.
try ampkit instead it is amazingly good. I would have preferred no stars but the rating system wont allow it.

But please simply tell us before we have to also buy $21 - full app, $10 to record, $15 to get better drums !
Awesome system, B U T tell us before, please. This thing has nearly doubled in price. I still would have bought it, though. I'll be checking you guys before buying other things. Dont forget people - awesome app !

Track bleeding

Hi there is a bad flaw in the recording section of the app. When recording your second track the metronome or anything on track one seeps onto track 2. I tried to sort it out with app support though they insist on me buying another piece of equipment that should stop the bleeding (even though I have an irig which should do the job). I have tried multi tracking in other Apps and there is no bleed so it must be a software problem. The sounds are good but don't buy the multitrack recorder! I'm turned off using this app and end up using jam up pro because of the frustration I had with this app.
The update with jimi packs made accessibility to the setting a two step process, not very user friendly. Also still track bleeding.

Great Guitar App!

I am not that equipment-savvy when it comes to guitars, I don't have a recorder, only a small amp and two effect pedals. Thank goodness I found this app, it is basically everything a budget guitar player would need!
To all of you complaining, think of it this way, $20 for the app, $10 for the recorder and $50 for the iRig. $80 is the cheapest you'll spend on all of these things that usually cost 100's of dollars in retail.

Greedy, greedy, greedy

If I dont have anything good to say i tend mot to say anything at all. But this app is exceptionally greedy i feel the need to share my opinion
First having to purchase 2 separate app for iphone and ipad is dumb. Others might disagree but i stand on my opinion
Second and last point. Pop up ad, and endless in app purchase is simply greedy. Period.
This app is the first to expose me to having guitar fx on my phone but only to find out that others has done is much better. I bought jam up pro and uninstall this app permanently

A Must for All Guitarist!!

The seperate app for iPad seems like an absolute money grabber, as they should combine them both into one app compatible with iphone and ipad
This app is a must for all guitarist, its portablility make it a invaluable companion, it has fantastic tone, something I would never have thought possible considering the platform, and sounds better than my amp.
I almost never hear pops or other sounds unless I'm recieving a call, text or downloading something via my iphone whilst I'm playing guitar through the multitasking feature, which I also use Tabtoolkit with, so I can play along with my tabs.
Although I would like the factory preset effects to be expanded to be more comprehensive and I dislike how the current version displays the presets.
All in all it is an ingenious app.

Good, but the opening page is annoying

I like the app from a sound point of view. The effects are great and I like the layout on screen.
BUT, I have the fully paid version, and I still get the ads for other products. This is really annoying, actually, it's downright unacceptable. Lose the ads for iRig (I already have it !!!) and all the other products from the fully paid version.

Mr

Well, it costed me $27 for iRig and $23 for software. Clean sounds are ok, distortions are far, far away from anything commercially usable (live gig or recording). Not flexible application (cannot freely set amplifier and stomps in any combination). Once when initial setting is completed, it is nice little guitar practice software but nothing more than that. I guess for $50 investment, it would be crazy to expect anything more than that.

Very happy indeed

I received my iRig the other day, purchased the paid version and started worrying when reading the mixed reviews afterwards.
Then I plugged it in and could only get a straight guitar tone. No amp variances and no effects. But I could tune, hear metronome and hear samples???
Then I remember reading that someone had to delete the app and re install it so I gave that a go. And bobs your uncle, I was in business.
And what a sound it is! Great all round. No noise and great effects, I can't wait to give it a go through an amp!
I can't really understand all the complainers on here at all??? I have a lower end guitar, cheap leads and the thing sounds great! I have around 12 stomp boxes myself and some of the sounds I have been getting on this app put them to shame. Especially the fact it is going through my phone!
Very happy indeed.

Great idea but waste of money. Bought the kit. Paid for app. Had it for a year. Got all the updates, still don't work. Useless rip off. Tried on a strat, les paul and acoustic with mike. I've played electric for 20 years. Wish I never wasted money in it. Rip off with added spam.

Great app, does what it is supposed to.

If you travel and play guitar you need this app. I am primarily a metal drummer who plays guitar to write song ideas. This is exactly what I have been looking for. I can now practise easily with headphones or through a stereo and record any ideas without having to use my full recording setup.
For getting ideas down quickly that sound good and practising in a completely portable way this app is the way to go. Sure the sounds aren't 100% perfect but you're running a variety of amps and stompboxes ON A PHONE for the price of a round of beers! Not to mention being able to play over the top of songs and multi track record.
With a decent guitar (I'm using a Gibson SG) and leads and using the Noise Filter stompbox, I am getting a very clean sound, even when using the Overdrive and Distortion stompboxes together. I have tried other apps with the iRig and they were either noisy with a lot of feedback through headphones or just didn't work.
The iRig also works as a simple guitar input for my MacBook Pro which is a bonus.
The only thing I would say is that the app needs to be updated for the iPhone retina display as a lot of the layout is pixelated.

It didn't work at first. After reinstalling the software it works great. It would be good if they mentioned uninstalling then reinstalling if it doesn't work. Very Impressive!

Used the free version for months with the irig b4 biting the bullet & getting the full one on special. Amazingly it sounds even better somehow than the free even on similar settings?! My only gripes are how to transfer user presets from the free to the full, & it could really use a pitch changer to allow for songs not tuned to concert pitch such as available in "slow down music player". As it is re-tuning when practicing multiple songs is a pain. Otherwise a fantastic app, especially for the platform & a must for every guitarist! Well done!

Hey guys love the app but since we paid our money can you get rid of the annoying pop up saying things are available at the store. It gives me the same message every time I use the app!! But-Not Able to run in sleep mode anymore tho (screen off) which is a big pity - it really helped power consumption during long jams!

In general just a bit too much noise to use for anything more than light practice, even on clean settings.

The app is ok, but after paying for the full app, more money is requested for minor additions. For $23, id expect a few more stomp boxes free. Good app since update!

This app is ok I guess. Had a lot of noises in previous version but the latest update did remove some. The noise filter pedal can reduce this considerably (given with app!), but as said earlier, you do loose some audio quality!
For i.e: I loose tones on the A and G string of my bass guitar with noise filter on! I have to compensate by either playing harder on the strings, fine tunning the guitar with app or buy the extra pedal EQ. Big time saver to fine tune the tones, but at a price!
Having the iphone in airplane mode considerably reduce clicking noise (you know, those noises when a phone is near a speaker or about to ring!).
To be honest, I'm no guitar expert or iphone expert! I'm just trying a few tricks to enjoy the app as much as possible. Nothing beats a good real amp, but when on the move a lot or just to try a few effects on your gig before buying the real deal, this app does the trick. Also, requires the iRig to connect your instrument! I thought when I bought the iRig that the app will be given with it but it's just two different thing! Anyway, good app!

can't use power adapter

overall an awesome app. makes practising easy to backing tracks. u can make mixes minus your instrument and play along - nice. unfortunately it gets very noisy if u have yr power supply plugged in - this means u can only run it on the battery.I would have liked to know this before buying - it's buried in the FAQ on the website. this loses two stars for me. any chance of fixing this?

Great app

Personally i can't relate to the comments about it being too noisy, to a lot of those ppl I would like to know if they have ever played through a tube amp?? But I digress, tone is what its all about and the tone produced from this app is insane considering the platform! The recorder is great and the noise gate seems to effect the tone a lot less now. This app is seriously a must buy if you are a guitarist, end of story. I've tried the main competitor and whilst it's a valid option I just don't think it competes tone wise. Plus u gotta love the close up interface of amplitube:) why are u still reading this?? Go buy this app now!

Wired for Noise...

I totally agree with the review from 'Wombat111'. The noise floor you get from the iRig hardware makes this overall tool useless for anything other than as a novelty. The Nosie gate effetc totally kills any decent tone you have so you're left with the decision of either an awful noise floor with some tone in the mix, or no noise floor and a muddy uninspiring tone.
I also seem to have plenty of clicks and pops even on the suggested LOW latency setting.
I bought this product hoping to replace the POD I have sitting next to my sofa which I use when fumbling on the guitar and practicing - weekends, late at night, TV ad breaks etc. I was hoping the iPhone may be a better option as it's much smaller and always there with me anyhow.
I should state that the amplitube app itself seems good at giving you a basic jamming tool for your electric guitars and basses with some decent effects too.
I'm a part time semi professional recording engineer and session guitarist/bassist but I'm not a total tone snob. I wasn't after studio quality from this device, just something useable to jam with and be inspired by. The hardware part of this product fails miserably in this regard. The noise generated is unbearable, almost as loud as the actual guitar signal (and yes I've tried it with about 6 of my electric guitars and 2 of my basses, 3 guitar leads and 3 sets of headphones).
A shame really and a waste of money. Here's hoping I can use the iRig device to conenct to the iPhone tuner apps I have.
Back to the trusty POD for me - which is awesome by the way for the above purpose but I prefer to use real tube amps when performing and recording.
Don't waste your money on this product, buy yourself a POD mini. This product won't inspire you to play and that is what any musical product should do, it should be transparent and fade into the background leaving you inspired to write and play music.

Great update

The addition of a four track recorder takes this app head and shoulders above the rest. It's a simple but powerful tool that has clearly been designed by people who play guitar.
The audio quality is greatly improved in version 2 and when you consider it's all being done on an iPhone it's pretty amazing.
Looking forward to seeing where it goes next.

Amplitube rocks

App works well on a 32 Gb 3GS
Noise reduction pedal is needed most of time but ok as 3 pedals can be used simultaneously in full version.
For less than $100 Aust U have all these effects (I use mine with bass guitar) - excellent value.
Need to upload 20 songs max using Wifi to app - would be better if you could play along with any song in the iPod part of iPhone. Upload didn't work on my 64 bit Vista computer - works on a 32 bit Vista & XP computer.
Users complaining about a record function can connect the iRig headphone socket to a double adapter for phones and linein on computer to record - works a treat !
I would have given it 5 stars if you could play along with any song on iPhone iPod section.
Still though an awesome app & good value seeing each pedal costs about $300 Aust !!! :)

Too noisy to be of any use

Like a number of other users of iPhone Amplitube, I was keen to try but very dissapointed when I did.
The 'noise' this generates makes it un-usable except as a novelty. The noise cancelling pedal kills a fair bit of the noise but also kills the overall sound. This is digital stuff Amplitibe, WHY THE NOISE? The lack of any recording function is also a major ommission. Very dissapointed, don't waste your money.
