Poor effects

I tried the standard free effects (crush, delay and phaser) and found them all to be of extremely poor quality with way too much treble. I initially thought that maybe this was because they were the free features and not meant to be very good, however I then purchased the “red special” effect to see if there was any use to this app in terms of achieving different guitar sounds, but it was pathetic. The sound quality was awful and some settings wouldn’t work when I tried it on a strat. It was a relief to turn the app off and return to the amp's own sound as the app provided a lot of annoying background noise through the amp that could not be turned off by the usual killing of the volume on the guitar. Really disappointing for such a cool concept, as well as for the money spent on it.

Issue when purchasing the amps

When I try to in app purchase restore fender collection 2 for AmpliTube CS iPad, it doesn’t restore it even though I have already bought it on my phone.

Poor performance over all

Recording performance is poor ... have to reinstall the app and the projects are lost afterwards which is absolutely annoying after paying a good bunch of money ..... total disappointed with this apmlitube

Big Bug

With high gain settings, any track that isn’t armed will be very trebly.

The moment you arm a particular track, that recording won’t sound trebly anymore, but any other recorded track will.

Especially apparent when with the master eq enabled with settings:

High:

Q: 0, Gain: 15, Freq: 20

Mid:

Q: 0, Gain: 15, Freq: 20

Low:

Q: 0, Gain: 05, Freq: 20

Yes, all the levels are in the green/yellow.

Tested on iPhone X and iPad Air.

Big deal breaker. Paid a lot to be able to use this app, and I can’t record music like this. Will be taking business elsewhere if it’s not fixed.

Switch your speaker off ?????????

Great fun to use ,a little hard to navigate to the actual free app features due to ads etc , also there’s no STOP BUTTON so I ended up recording 10mins of nothing due to difficulties turning the speaker off. I like the app but it needs simple quick notions not a runabout

Annoying

After forking out on irig hd2 and getting this software with it i’d now pass on both.

Any misplaced tap and the thing tries to sell you more of the same.

File sharing between apps is very limited so trying to get a recording into a decent editor is a terrible experience.

Suddenly stumbled across an option to save to garage band and hey presto, nowhere to be found in garage band!

The irig hd2 hardware is probably excellent but bundling with this is a serious let down.

I get that it is a free version but it’s so bad I wont fork out more money on top of the hardware because it is so terrible.

Sometimes using new software can be frustrating at first. This is still frustrating after a couple of months. Fail.

REALLY BAD QUALITY

This has taken ages to load! It has still not fully loaded! I have read some reviews and they say it is bad quality. Just saying, I am not spending any money so maybe it will be even worse. I will probably end up deleting the app. We'll just wait and see.

My two cents worth...

I have to say it's disappointing to find that every second (or even more!!) press on a button in AmpliTube takes you to their store section where you need to purchase additional amps, mics, effects, looper yadaa yadaa....u get it. In fact the whole app seems to be designed around convincing you to spend more of your cash... IK needs to redesign it so your purchased section is completely separate to what you don't own. It's appears underhanded and gets in the way of a creative flow and just ends up annoying you.

My recommendation is to avoid this in the first place if you're a serious musician (yes I know what I'm saying there about IK) because there are less annoying and/or frustrating purchases out there.

I doubt I'm going to end up using this in iPad recording and I've already spent a fair amount on it.

One of the most atrocious apps you will ever use

I had been using amplitude with an iRig for a few years while living overseas. I recently downloaded it again, purchased the premium version & the looper and I have to say, this has to be one of the most atrocious apps I have ever used.

The ui and functionality of this app is beyond a joke.

It's so usable. There isn't much more to say than that.

... I've never encountered an app so bad that it deserves a raging review before. So please, save yourself the hassle and amplitude, have your ux & ui team sort this joke out.

Too expensive, no improvements, full of bugs and no support

I made the mistake to buy this app to then realise its full of bugs and lacks of very basic features. Customer support is very poor and there are no updates with any serious improvements.

Current version doesn't work, app is completely unresponsive and support doesn't even respond to emails for weeks now.

Waste of almost US$70 I paid, asked for a refund 2 days after with no results. BAD BAD BAD!!

Good but too much noise. Please fix!!!

I love the app but when I plug in and play there's too much noise in iPhone. Very creaky annoying noise. Happens even when I plug into my amp. Can not play live. Please fix!!!

Stop messing with App!

I am SO angry with this so called upgrade!!!! App has been working fine up to this point but now they've added some stupid simple feature at the cost of the app not being able record then save session!!! I had many people relying on an important desk recording only to find it has not saved it!!! Why are companies constantly changing apps only to make them no longer work? So frustrating!!! Also 2 bar measure intro keeps being added and setting it to off does not save,so you have to go to settings on turn it off every time you start to record. For the love of god can you PLEASE test these things first or just leave app as is without an upgrade every second day.Grrrrrr!!!

This is a great little app that allows you to carry a mini studio around with you wherever you go.

Useless

I Tried to add songs to it but every time it crashes even when every other application is closed and the IRig isn't even attached. Its a shame thats probably the only thing that has stopped me from actually buying the app.

Expensive!!!

This is a great app.... However, it becomes very expensive when u start adding amps and effects to you basic kit... Especially if you want it on your iPad and iPhone because u have to purchase each add-on TWICE!!! C'mon guys... It's expensive enough a it is, without having to purchase items for each device!!!!

I would have given it a much higher rating if purchases applied to iPad and iPhone together!

Don not waste your time and money

I feel very ripped off after buying the irig plug in. Let me tell you why, well for starters, all the amps simulations are just not of any decent quality. I was actually stupid enough to buy the slash pack thinking that would be a lot better....alas... It is still a very poor quality add on. I only wish I knew about line 6 pod before I got sucked in by this app. Now line 6 mobile in is real quality sounds. And you don't have to pay for any other add ons after you purchase the mobile in. If only I could get a refund for the very poor quality irig :(

Good enough to satisfy

Long-time rocker, I've had loads of gear...this app is a great tool, not the best A-class studio unit in town but for free u get a great tuner, metronome, recorder, amp sim which isn't too bad (terrible reverb), and some other goodies that are excellent for ideas, jamming and musical note-making. If you want world-class, spend some $$$.

I had a hiccup on install, which as previously mentioned in reviews, only gave me a direct-thru guitar sound...didn't require re-install, merely went into recorder and created a new song, went back to recorder and up came the amp sound and effects.. Set levels and off you go.

The iRig can be also used to run a line-out to either mp3-in or guitar-in into your instrument amp, sounds very much better as a pre-amp into a valve combo, for example.

The paid version of this is an absolute rip off. Buy the plug and download Apple's GarageBand. It has soo many amps and pedal effects for like 5 bucks!

NOT WORTH IT

I purchased irig to test this app. The controls are clumsy and the knbs do not turn as they should, so I was stuck with Reverb and other effcets that I could not control. IRig itself comes with no connectors, just confusing instructions. Once you buy IRig you need to go out yet again and buy various connectors from electronic shops just to use the thing.

Once plugged in (after days hunting down the bits needed to plug it into my Fender amp) I found the sounds and effcets to be very average. IRig created hum, the volume was low and as I said, clumsy knobs to turn to control functions that simply do not work well(sliders would be far mor effcetive). In short, dont waste your maoney, wait for version 20

This would be brilliant if you an mix 2 songs at once and whats with all these cost just make one package with everything in it and with the no voice thing it doesn't work with linkin park's Mike Shinoda's voice so you need to work on that so all this stuff you can get on virtual dj on the computer but nice try though so 3 stars because you can make this really great if you tried a little harder and not think all about the money

Not bad!

Worked first time but couldn't work out why everything including the "clean" fx were distorted. 30mins later I realized I had the iPhone turned to half volume!

So, after re-adjusting everything, it did what I needed/expected and sounds good. As a person who travels a fair bit for work, I sometimes carry a cut down electric guitar in my suitcase to practice, so this keeps the packing to a bare minimum!

Btw I got the iRig from EBay for $18 delivered from Hong Kong to Australia.

There's stacks more on EBay, good luck, and good licks !

Good app

Great app for jamming & practice, tempo adjuster is very helpful but would be even better if coupled with a pitch adjuster too like the one in slow music player. Would be extremely helpful to not have to retune for those songs not played at concert pitch. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, otherwise rapt with it!

Plug in iRig before loading app

I couldn't get it to work until I realized that I had to plug the iRig in before I loaded the app. If I accidentally unplug it, I then have to close the app properly, plug it in and the launch the app again

Issues with presets

Yeah i downloaded the free version which is ok, except for that ugly sound u get from wen u stop playing ur guitar, it sounds like wind or something, also i have no idea how to set up the presets, there are no instructions anywhere, other than that its not bad, i have lots of hours of fun on this app

Irig half

Hard to review a product that you can't use yet. The demo sounds great. So what do we do in Australia with software only. It's driving me nuts. The hardware should be out there for us. Help someone if you have a solution.

Well got the irig from Allans Alexandria, I bought two actually . I must say it sounds great I have an idea for ampitude that will make it even better and will send this product throughout the music market like a rocket. Best practice amp I've seen!

This thing is great, even with the limited functionality being the free version, it is still very good. The capability of this program, coupled with iRig, is excellent. I have been running it directly into my valve amp by way of the appropriate lead and I must say I am very impressed. I am a guitar teacher and I have all sorts of students from the ordinary (no offense) to the brilliant and they all agree, Amplitube for iPhone sounds AWESOME! I will qualify this - when it goes into your headphones, the sound quality isn't as good because, seriously, valves make everything sound better. But for something that cost me roughly $80 in total (including the full version of the software) I am WAY impressed. Many people are saying this is the best practice amp in this price range on the market. Go in with some friends to split the postage and buy the iRig from the IK website. I wasn't disappointed.
