Not what I paid for

After paying for an issue, I found that the article I wanted to read had not loaded, and it seems it's not going to. And now I see about half the content is missing - I just get blank pages.
I'll be sticking with The New Republic I think.

Disastrous

This new version is a disaster. I used to really look forward to getting the latest version of Newsweek. Now I can't even get the latest version. I have to keep on logging back in each time, the design is bland and the articles seem shorter. Unreadable. Go back to the old version please.

Please Fix..

The last couple of times I have opened this app I have had to sign in with my iTunes password 3 times to get access. Also all my pre 2013 purchased editions have disappeared and there is no way to restore them.

Giving it a chance

Print subscriber turned digital (no choice!), wish Newsweek well and hope they succeed. Certainly is easier on the hip pocket in the new format.
App crashes pretty much every time I rotate from landscape to portrait and back again, but otherwise feels nice.

Update nightmare

How is Newsweek going totally digital when subscriptions are interrupted every time they or Apple make an update? So annoyed....again. Last time, their customer service was so rude I hesitate to contact them again. Feel like just cancelling my subscription after 15 years to avoid the hassle.

Great interactive mag

This is the first mag I've bothered with. While the content isn't always what I'm interested in the app is fun and surprising. The Beatles ed. is awesome! It's beautiful.

One of the better magazine apps

Unlike every single other magazine app I've bought, this one has never ever crashed on me. Quick to download issues. This also gets the balance right between simple reproductions of the paper version which waste the possibilities of reading on an iPad and over doing the interactive bells and whistles that don't actually add anything to the content. All other publishers should look to this as their guide. The only thing preventing it from getting a 5 star rating is the inability to preview issues, even the ability to look at the full contents page would do.

Excellent

People are being harsh critics. I've had no issues with crashes, and at 40 cents an issue over an annual sub its a no brainer for global news fans.

Really good app

Very good app, which showcases the magazine, and includes a good variety of multimedia. Great price, great value.

crash every now and then

mine crashes every few seconds. the only way to read the magazines that i have subscribed for is rebooting the ipad. please address the crashing issue immediately. i start to think its not fair for consumers.

Getting better

The newest update certainly makes this app better. The latest news is really good and frankly $12 for 10 issues is amazing, especially considering that to buy just one print Newsweek in Australia can cost $12 by itself. And the galleries are great.
That said, the magazine experience is less than perfect, I'm not a huge fan of the direct PDF scan of the magazine for the simple reason that the magazine is too large for the iPads screen and so the text can be hard to read, and zooming in is awkward and ugly. And the reading experience isn't perfect, there's no table of contents to click and take you straight to the story. Also, perhaps the latest news feature undermines paying for the mag, and the text for reading those stories looks odd.
So yes, good app but not amazing, simply because reading the mag feels just odd. But considering the state Newsweek is in it's certainly an achievement.

Annoying ads

I didn't bother buying an issue, but the complimentary issue had a full page pop up ad every time you go through the first page. I certainly wouldn't want to pay for a magazine only to be bombarded with annoying non-print ads.

Very poor

This is a very poor app and does no credit to Newsweek. It stalls on downloading. In spite of an inability to load - and a complaint - my credit card was still debited. A shocking piece of software. Unfriendly and unresponsive. At least Time works for me.

Beware when clicking on the covers

I have no issue with the way the magazine presented itself in the digital form, it is way better than the kindle version and slighty less polished than the Time magazine version. I have one huge problem though with Newsweek iPad edition and it made me wanting to delete the app from my iPad: it does not ask you to confirm or allow you to preview your purchase so when you click on a cover by accident you immediately purchase it, and the way the home screen is designed it makes it easy to click the covers by accident. Way to mislead your customers Newsweek!!
