The PolyTune phone app works perfectly and your guitar sounds sweet after using it. No other tuner app that I have tried works as well. I have the clip on and the audio plug also and recommend them too. The really are a step ahead.

PolTune great stuff
This app does everything claimed of it, powerful stuff.
Just keep one thing in mind, if your iPhone powers down, the app is still active, the app will drain your phone rather quickly.

Great tuner, just one issue though..
I love the polytune, I use an actual polytune on my board and it never lets me down but lately I've been having a single annoying problem with it.
I like taking my Apogee Jam to practice to avoid taking my whole board with me and the polytune app doesn't respond at all to input through the Jam. I've got a couple of other tuner apps that work fine with it but id really love to use this app. 5 stars when this compatibility happens.

I am away from home at another home, with my old electric bass, no way to tune it because I can't by ear. I don't have an amp with me so it's quite hard. I searched and found this, remember seeing the pedal one for around $200 in store. This being only $5.50 at the time I decide to buy it. Under 1 minute my old bass is tuned perfectly. Almost perfect but no open tunings
This is easily the best iPhone app I have purchased. The polyphonic tuning mode is amazing and is so easy to use. Same goes for the chromatic tuning mode plus having a choice between needle and strobe is also cool. I also really dig that you can change the colour of the display from red/green to blue/yellow. As someone who suffers from red/green colour blindness, you have no idea how much I appreciate this feature!! And this thing works just as well with bass as it does with guitar.
My only gripe is that there is no support for open tunings. Support for open tunings seems like an easy enough add on (in fact I'd be happy to pay extra for a plugin that would allow this). Of course you can use the chromatic mode to do open tunings, but the polyphonic mode does not allow/support open tunings. Despite this, I heartily recommend this app to all fellow guitarists who wish to turn their iPhones or iPod touch into a fantastic guitar tuner.

I was a little sceptical at first but I thought, what the hell, it's only 6 bucks. What a great surprise when I found it not only works but works brilliantly! Tried my acoustic on it and both single string and poly tuning worked quickly and perfectly but the real surprise was I tried 1 of my solid bodies (Ibanez SZ520) and it tuned that as well.!! the room was fairly quiet but still, thats impressive. Compared to my BossTU12, the TC app tuned my acoustic quicker without any glitching and was accurate and as far as the solid body goes, the Boss TU12 cannot tune it acoustically.

Really Frigging Nice!
A really user-friendly tuning app. I was dubious to begin with, but it really does work.
It's pretty pricey, and as another reviewer said, there are tuning apps that offer finer accuracy. For the money I'd suggest they hone the accuracy- but then again, you'd have to be a pro to notice anyhow.

Awesome tuner!! I have the real thing too, I love that I can tune 'unplugged' with the App though.
I would however like to see alternate tunings (eg. DADF#Ad) in the App & Pedal tuner.
I also think the App could do with adding to the amount of L.E.D's being displayed, the iPhone screen is much bigger than the Polytune display so it's not quite as smooth I feel.
Otherwise, insanely genius invention, and probably simpler to do than you'd think - so again, WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!!!

Musicians, this is It !
Works extremely well in Stream mode, it's fantastic. Sensitivity to attack is incredible. Intonating a guitar is not a problem. Superb for studio and live gigs and a great back up for on road tech work. The Polytune will pick up any instrument with ease be it a piano, violin, tuba, acoustic guitar or electric bass! A must have for any musician. You will love it! Accuracy unquestionable! Easy to read and use. Now the whole band will be in tune!

Surprisingly good - performs identically to the hardware version.
I already own a polytune pedal for comparison. Using the Peterson iPhone Tuner Cable this app works amazingly well with an Electric Guitar or Bass. Accuracy is not an issue, in stream mode the polytune and Peterson apps are practically equivalent. The really impressive feature of the polytune app is that running on an iPhone 3Gs which has deep low cut on its microphone inputs the polytune app still works perfectly on bass guitars. Many other tuner apps sometimes have problems locking on the low E string while the polytune app works without any fuss. I have seven other iPhone tuning apps and this is so far the easiest to use and most practical with an electric guitar or bass, especially when using a suitable cable. I have found the polyphonic display best to identify which string/s need tuning with a single strum but prefer the needle or stream mode to tune the individual strings. Since the mode switch is automatic the whole process is very quick. For live performances the polytune hardware is still a more practical option but in most other circumstances the polytune app is an excellent choice.

Polytune's nice.. But how about more accuracy?
The Polytune feature itself is awesome.. But it would have been nice to have a more accurate chromatic tuner.. The Petersen Strobosoft App (also on iTunes) is accurate to 1/10th a cent, whereas the Polytune app is only accurate to 1/2 cent.. Bummer.
