Dictionary should be apolitical. Yet some recent additions read like a biased blog post with factually incorrect information.

Love it
I've had this app for years, and it's the best app on my phone. I'd go as far as saying it's the best app in the app store, and I'm maths teacher. I went to ad-free sometime ago, and I don't regret it. I do get a lot of emails, however, and although I have altered my subscription settings, I still get the emails. Fixing the email settings makes this app five stars easy.

Feedback for ads
Self confessed word nerd here 🙋🏽♀️Love the app and have used it almost every day for years. One thing I’ve noticed lately is that the ads are becoming more aggressive. Unfortunately because I often work in the quiet study area of my local library, I have had the embarrassing situation of going to look up a word and having loud ads blaring at me and disturbing the other patrons. I wonder, from a marketing perspective (yes, that is part of my job!) if due to the nature of the target audience you have (and the likelihood they use office/ quiet spaces when engaging with your app), some parameters on audio content could be introduced? Thanks!

Can’t look up more than two words without the app freezing. Clicking on words within definition s asks leads to the app freezing.

Your new update is terrible 🤬
Hate it, hate it hate it. The new version is too confusing and fussy on the eye. Too irritating to use. Will probably find a better app. You also ignore the British and Australian spellings. These are the correct ones. The American versions are a corruption. Why not accept both?
Having definitions and synonyms colour coded is good, but three columns with the text wrapped is painful on the eye and extremely confusing. Please put them back into one column, or two if you must. Three is too much for an iPhone. It is essential that you acknowledge the correct British spellings of words. It is American imperialism at its worst not to. There are hundreds of millions of people round the world who use the Queen’s English and do not know what the bastardised American spellings are. It would only be to your benefit to rid yourself of this Americocentric image you currently have.

What this lacks is pattern matching. I would definitely pay for the Pro version if it had this feature.

Font Size
Font size is fixed. By default it’s small and difficult to read in some situations. Can you introduce a variable font size option; like I can increase my font size accordingly to my need. Urgent update necessary

And, this really WILL take up your time to read this, however YOU’LL want to install it after reading this! :-D So, now you’re forewarned & forearmed (LOL!))! Enjoy!**

So, here it goes!
I use this dictionary app numerous times, throughout my 3 years as a university student (& I’m still there) to look for a suitable academic/formal word, or 2 - or more, to use in my academic assignments/essays.
Additionally, sometimes, I use it in my formal emails (using my student email) to my tutors, & in my personal email to email someone - either personally or to a professional someone as well, & to type a formal letter on the Word program. And because, sometimes, in the Word doc there aren’t always enough formal words to find.
It’s the BEST app in the world to use & I LOVE it so very much! Therefore, I so HIGHLY recommend it for high school/college/uni students (& for professionals, or you, too)! It will help you so much with your academic assignments or essays, particularly of, when you don’t know any suitable academic or formal words to use rather than using informal words, which that aren’t appropriate for academic studies. This will help you to receive high marks. In addition, it’s such a HUGE PLUS to help with the word count!
It is free. However, I say this to the health sciences/medical/science students, or health professionals or scientists: I so HIGHLY recommend that you upgrade your app, after you have installed it, is to use the medical, or science tab (or both), because they’re extremely helpful to look up a medical term, or a diagnosis, for an easy definition! I, also, use the medical tab (& the science tab as well for scientific understanding) for my health sciences degree - when it’s a bit hard to understand when you read the human & anatomy textbook(s). (It’s due to my language of English as my 2nd language, because I’m Deaf & Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is my 1st language for main communication in sign language). (Going off the train; also, this is due to my ASD & ADD - I read every word laterally to absorb them into my brain as well & that my brain tends to process them slowly. I laterally have no filters in my brain to filter out unnecessary (unimportant) information - this means I take ages to think! (LOL!)). (Getting back on the train again (LOL!))
When you use the app a lot often, then this will help you grow your knowledge of words to use in your day-to-day communication, or whatever you do. :-D
In conclusion, if I didn’t have this app installed earlier (in my 1st year) on my iPhone, then I WOULDN’T be able to find appropriate words for my assignments (or essays) & I wouldn’t be able to get Credit, or Distinction, or High Distinction. Again, I so HIGHLY recommend you to install this fantastic app ASAP!

Lunacy in propaganda
I was very disappointed to read the story on ‘how the letter X creates more gender neutral language’. As a mobile app and dictionary service, users expect basic respectful content that is not tainted by the idiotic politically energised rubbish on how we should stop referring to people by gender pronouns, a long-honoured and exceedingly basic part of the English language you are meant to be supplying. Absolutely ludicrous and shameful content. I will not be recommending to any associates.

I only JUST started using this app on the 5 of June 2019 but this app is SOOOOOO good. It’s really helping me with my definitions and up leveling my words and if you don’t have this you are living underneath a rock! ( or a log. Whatever you can afford) So make sure you get it NOW!!!

I use the dictionary quite a lost. The best feather was the sound button which told me how to say the word. Now the sound button does not work any more I am VERY DISAPPOINTED. Now l would not RECOMMEND DICTIONARY to anyone. When the sound work I love dictionary And recommend the app. Please bring back the speaker button.
