Step's Aurora Guide is a new app created by the aurora photographer for aurora photographers. Do you want to take amazing pictures of the northern lights? Or even the southern lights, also known as aurora australis?
With this app, you can:
Plan ahead with the 27-day geomagnetic activity forecast. Know what the moon phase will be on those days. Check if it's dark enough in the chosen locations to see the aurora in the coming weeks. Worth to notice that you'll always catch the start of the season with this last feature.
Decide where to go tonight. Check the expected geomagnetic activity, percent of the sky covered with clouds, temperature, and wind forecast for each hour for tonight and the next night. You can see these forecasts simultaneously for your current location and up to 5 custom locations. See the aurora probability for the next hour in real-time for chosen areas with the SWPS Ovation aurora forecast.
The text guide will advise you based on the aurora and weather forecasts, the moon's position in the sky, and your location. You'll know whether you should expect the aurora on the horizon or overhead, whether it is the right day to photograph the reflection, and what direction to point your camera to have pleasant moon illumination of the landscape, along with other recommendations and camera settings tips.
