How does First Table work?
Participating restaurants list their first tables for breakfast, lunch or dinner on First Table – showing seven days of availability on our platform.
Diners are then rewarded with 50% off the food bill for dining at an off-peak time.
To secure 50% off the food bill, select your city and search through the available restaurants near you. Then select your date and time and book a First Table (booking fee applies) for two, three or four people.

Not eligible for solo diner
Every restaurant has a minimum number of 2 people in order to be able to book a deal. So anyone who usually eats alone, don’t waste time downloading it.

Probably won’t use it again
The 50% off food is legit, however you get hit with a bunch of extra costs that makes your discount feel more like 20-30%. $10 for booking fee and most venues have a one drink per diner requirement to claim the half price food (at full price), and soft drink doesn’t count, so I had to get an alcoholic beverage. I went with one other person so basically we had to pay $40 just to claim the 50% discount. I think it’s maybe more worth it if you have already planned to get drinks with dinner, but we booked for lunchtime on a weekday.

Discounts not as they seem
Great concept but there’s so many exclusions/terms and conditions, plus the $12 BF, that the discount is much less than 50%. Yes, still a discount, but they should not allow restaurants to have a whole bunch of exclusions and rid the booking fee and just incorporate that into the discount. So instead of an advertised 50% discount, advertise it honestly as a 20% or whatever discount.

My family and I had dinner at Chiki Chan on a Tuesday night. The service was excellent and everything was super yummy! The Chiki Ribs is a must try with the lime leaf mayo. Overall our visit to the restaurant exceeded our expectations with food, service and the vibe!

Overcharged :(
The food and service were good. The menu on the First Table app is not current, the prices on the menu at the restaurant are more expensive. Along with other items we ordered a Meat and Greek platter for 4 people, menu price at the restaurant was $146.00 we were expecting to be charged $73.00 at 50% off however we were charged $83.00. We didn’t say anything at the time but this is not a moral thing to do, if you advertise 50% off prices should not be inflated. It was disappointing.

We have been using First table for a while now. We have tried restaurants we probably wouldn’t have tried if they weren’t half price. We are always treated very well ( just like full paying guests) and always have a fantastic experience.

A delightful gem in Manly, this boutique seafood spot offers a perfect afternoon escape. The Sydney rock oysters were exceptionally fresh, paired with a crisp glass of wine. Awful, disgusting last minute cancellation. On a special day. Only looking for profiting
Not good at all. We tried booking a Valentines lunch at Feisty Flamingo way ahead of time only to get cancelled last minute. The app support offered us some credits but this won’t cut it at all. Such very short sighted approach to profitability by bumping customers out only because it’s a special occasion/day and the system forget to remove any availability during Valentine’s Day.
Poor service. I would not recommend this to everyone.

Great app to use; user friendly and can’t complain with 50% off your food bill. I’ve had many enjoyable dining experiences thanks to this app and highly recommend it. I’m lucky to live in Melbourne and have endless options to dine out and even last minute options too! Personally, I’d like to see restaurants using this platform offer ALL FOOD ITEMS at 50% discount and not have the option to exclude particular menu items as an option.
What will encourage me to spread the word about the app and use it more often? More and more restaurants joining the platform with very minimal conditions for table bookings.

Couldn’t complete my booking via the app and no reason given but just stayed at the same page. Managed to complete the booking on their website though.

Ridiculous
I was expecting to receive a credit of $12 on 12 November but as of today,30 November I have not seen any credit applied to my account. I contacted customer service regarding this issue and was informed that the credit had not been processed.
However, I kindly requested a direct refund of the amount, because I booked again and paid for the booking fee on my bank account, but was informed that this would not be possible. Could you please clarify why I am wasting the time for the credit to be applied?
So you change me $12 & $10 twice booking fees now and you told me can not refund me?

Too good to be true!
I used this first time last week and very happy with the discount. Went to book the same restaurant again today and there’s a ‘catch’ you can’t book the same restaurant 2 times in a row.
All good except when I look at the restaurants in my area there is only one, so it’s difficult to book somewhere else if there is no others choices.

So while stuck on the couch with a broken ankle I stumbled on the first table insta . Have been to 2 lunches and 2 diners so far. Great value luckily my husband loves to eat early and I’ve recommended to my dog park crew and ceramics family. Can’t wait to be walking again to make it down to Cottage Point. We were introduced to First Table by friends in Queensland so when back home in Adelaide we joined and tried it out by booking a table for 4 at Asian Flavours in Glenelg. What a great evening out! Plenty of great food, a drink each and coffee to finish, all for $65 per couple plus the $10 booking fee. Thank you First Table, we will definitely be using this app again soon!

Love this app! Great offers and no problems with any of the restaurants I’ve used it at. It’s even allowed me to try restaurants that are even out of my budget normally. I recommend it a lot!
The only thing I wished the app had was the ability to find available restaurants by map. Much handier to decide if I can tell the location is within walking distance or not when I’m in the CBD.

Great app and works really well. My only suggestion would be to figure out a way to better work with restaurants to apply the 50% discount more smoothly. Many venues forget, or ask to see the voucher which can be awkward.

Proceed with caution
My husband and I wanted to book our favourite restaurant for dinner for our anniversary after discovering the place happened to be listed as one of the few decent options in Brisbane. Sadly when my husband went to reserve the table he checked the special conditions tab and there were many - essentially excluding all the items we would’ve ordered from the 50% discount. This should not be allowed if an establishment is putting themselves on this platform. I accept having to buy a drink and paying $10 for the table but this goes well beyond that. Be all in or not at all as far as I’m concerned!

I absolutely love this app! I use it weekly to organise dinner plans with friends. It’s so user friendly and gives you an overview of what’s available a week at a time . It’s user friendly and easy to navigate the app. I’ll definitely be using it again when we are back in Melbourne. Hopefully more restaurants will join this amazing concept

Saves me money!
In these times of ever increasing prices using first table is one of the few ways I can still afford to go out for dinner (or lunch) with my family. The app is super easy to use to find discounted places to eat and I’ve never had any issues at any of the restaurants I’ve bought vouchers for. We’ve tried a number of new places that we continue to go back to because of first table 👍🏻

What’s not to love about 50% discount on food?!
Everything on one easy to use app: restaurants shown in specific areas, food styles, menus, reviews and now even ‘last table’ for those who like to eat later.
Booking for 4 people gives the best savings and best of all I think is that you try new restaurants you wouldn’t necessarily try due to cost. You can select one easily if away from your local area too, reserving a few hours earlier or days ahead.
I have even discount dined at favourite restaurants a few times now, taking friends. I have tried two other dining apps and found them confusing. Their restaurants are not all discounted or only at 30% or only offer points to accumulate which is not an instant saving.
I rate the app 5 star and easy to use for a woman I’m in her 70s. I love First Table !

Brilliant App
What a great app and business this is. We eat out regularly and love to get to a restaurant early so this app really helps. I’m sure it’s great business for the restaurants too as we’ve tried some places we probably wouldn’t have found without this app. Great stuff 👍👍👍

Fantastic App
Love this App. We’re in Melbourne but have used the App on the Gold Coast and also Brisbane, as well as our hometown. Restaurants we have booked have been really accomodating and friendly and good had been really good

Easy App
Apps are always easier than logging in via browser. Was also able to use when in NZ last week with ease. Keep up the good work. Love the convenience of being able to book in for a first table.
Will Australia be launching the points system that NZ has?
