Bring back the pie chart

Please bring back the round chart.
The new version is not easy on the eye. The round chart which showed how much data you’ve used, how much is left and how much is in your data bank was way better than the latest update!

Does not log me in

there’s a 12 character limit causing me to write down the wrong password but on doing a forget password, the temporary password didn’t work. I had to go to the website to log in.

Room for improvement

All remarks refer to mobile data usage:
1. The table form of daily usage is accurate but the graph form has gratuitously reversed the chronology of actual usage. The chronological sequence is right to left instead of left to right!
2. The calendar month label refers to the date of your billing cycle … so if your billing cycle is the 6th of each month then the “month” of January is displaying usage for 26 days of _December_ and just 5 days of January … in reverse chronological order.
A more meaningful and equally brief label (for this example) would be “Dec-Jan”.
3. The databank balance is not displayed in numeric form. Neither is databank usage displayed - even if that usage is zero.
4. The graphic (pie/ring-chart) shading for databank (balance? usage?) is either inaccurate or is attempting to display some counterintuitive usage information that is not very helpful.
5. The smoothing function used for the graphical display is probably necessary (for at-one-glance visibility) but it does make reconciling the numeric data against graphed data difficult.
6. There is no differentiation made between downloaded data and uploaded data. Quite probably this is a Telstra limitation and nothing the App can do will change this.

UPDATE:
A short while, I took the bait of $1 to join Mate. Left Optus and soon after - you gave me 30 days notice and put up my plan by 25% in one hit. I feel a bit cheated/scammed. So you don’t deserve this praise in the previous review.
Sick of Optus and Telstra? Just join Mate! I did, and although the app is extremely basic, I’d rather that, than the flashy Optus app which does everything (and annoyingly) more - but you pay for that in other ways. Don’t even mention the annoying chat they built into it 🤦🏼‍♂️ Both Telstra and Optus are synonymous with poor service and high prices, right? So even if you don’t like Mate’s service - it’s STILL a no-brainer who to go with. That aside, the $20 plan I’m testing out works equally as well as the Optus $60 plan I left (after leaving Telstra). I use the Mate app once a month, maybe twice - and it’s easier/quicker than logging into the browser version. What do you want for $20? Curious 🧐…to all the people who want a slick GUI and more - why does the app have to be anything more than it is? There are NO annoying ads, NO sales pitches/upgrades - all the things the others have (and I personally hate). Bloated apps with the intent to upsell. Wake up. Thumbs up Mate 👍🏻

Can’t log in

I noticed a review written a year ago about not being able to log in. Well it’s still happening. It opens to a page asking for my password which hasn’t yet been set and then when I try “forget password “ it freezes. This is a third world app.

Waste of Time …..

Just downloaded this app following an email announcement by Mate. It is poorly designed, and of zero use/value. Given the effort put in by Mate to this useless app, my immediate reaction is not to use it and certainly not trust putting any of my financial data into it.
Mate seems to be making a stirling effort to downgrade its customer experience and customer service over the last 12 months and is unfortunately succeeding.
Come On Mates you can do so much better than this rubbish.

Slow Internet

i recently switched from Telstra Internet to Mate and it was the biggest mistake of my life, I do Understand that mate is the same as Telstra but this is false advertising, I have been not able to complete my work from home nor just use the internet, I had to turn off my Network and just use my data that is with Optus and it does significantly more than this So called MATE I Do not recommend this provider as i am disappointed and have been getting bad internet ever since I have switched my providers! Unless you fix this MATE Network I DO NOT Recommend this provider!!

Basic & not fully operational

Was happy to move to Mate for a bundle deal but the app is very basic and not fully functional at that with usage details blank.
Maybe a new developer is needed or they should take note of Aussie Broadband's app for some ideas?

Crashes

The checking mobile data is fine, when I click to check home internet the app crashes and closes every time. You can still see an overview, but would be nice if it didn’t crash.

Help desk useless

They do have Aussie staff and their rates are good. but they are in desperate need of training. Nice people (with the exception of Adam, he was aggressive and rude) that can’t help, or even grasp an issue , is in the end useless.
Specific issues:
- lack of bandwidth during busy times. Totally frustrating watching the Australian open Tennis finals, and have the picture freeze the moment Kyrgios serves time and again!
- allowing you to upgrade your plan to speed that, when tested, can’t be provided by the NBN!
- and when you change back, they charge you fully for both plans!! Hmm mate, definitely not my mate! I will research and change.

Minimalist in design and function

The App provides minimum information which to be fair is probably all that the average user needs. It provides your services information, allows you to update payment details (haven’t had the need to use this) and has a useful help section.
For me, the downside is in the lack of data usage information provided. It’s actually blank so I’m not sure what point having this feature actually serves. Hopefully it’s an error that can be sorted through an update.

Constant crashing & poor design

The app is extremely basic with limited functionality, especially when in comparison to other apps provided by other internet companies.
Making payment can be borderline impossible with the frequency of the app crashing, with some features completely inaccessible due to the apps bugs. It’s becoming apparent that the app is pointless as it provides no useful function. You can’t even update your payment details as the app will never remember your new details and consistently switch back to the original payment details selected when first signing up.
Overall, in its current state, it’s frustratingly unusable

Website and App are both broken

You cannot login on the website. When you press "Log In" nothing happens. it just removes your profile information you've put in and is blank. I can not login to the self care portal on the app as well because the app has major issues. To change anything on my account i have to spend 20 minutes on the phone. This company has allot of potential but they need to put in money in to on simple things like their website/app.

Great Internet Provider. Very bad app.

Poor service

The mate’s communication now famous and the customer service is going down. There’s no way you can pay your outstanding. Update option in the app doesn’t work. Live chat don’t have much information and not helpful in my recent experience. Call wait time is 1:30 hrs.

Absolute mess.

Why are you pushing people to this crash prone mess of an app while you update the self serve portal? Tried to log in to up my nbn plan and spend more money with you - instead I leave with a headache.

Featureless

Having service issues at home and the customer service Center is not available - thought ‘maybe I can log an issue through the app’ nope. It exists only to show they think everything is ok and give you more options for payment. Don’t waste the time.

This application is literally useless. It shows no data for my phone numbers listed (or nbn). The only thing I seem to be able to do is update my payment details (which I don’t need to do). The lack of personal support is starting to turn me off mate.

Poor UX

App keep crashing and updating my credit card detail was painful. It keeps reverting back to my original card and doesn’t accept my new cc detail.
I also found the app is poorly designed with little end user in mind. It’s a very very basic app which seem clunky.
I came from both Woolworths mobile and Amazysim and they are far better at the UX design. Please consider revamping the entire app urgently.

Useless

This app does nothing except enable me to update my billing details (I think - I haven’t tried but it looks as though that functionality is working). But nothing else works. If I tap on my plan, the app just crashes and closes back to my iPhone Home Screen. So completely useless.

It doesn’t work. All I want to do is pay my bill. With the online portal being down, we’re directed to this app to pay our bills. When I go in to the app and select my account/ plan that I want to pay, i get to see the account screen for a brief second and then it turns to black and the app is unusable. Please fix, I just want to pay my bills. Also please get BPAY already so we can avoid this.

Could be informative if not developed so bad

Open the app and tal around always leads to. A blank screen with no return, except kill the app.
E.g. look at your data usage and go back more than 2 months. Please fix this with an error message or at least a back button.
My kids at school do learn app development now, they would fail with such a result:-)

Works but limited

I had a little trouble getting the app to work but it had been working smoothly and then suddenly it wouldn't accept account and password. After that frustrating spell, it has been working smoothly again, but the information provided is very basic (I can't find where it tells me how much data has been banked!)

It's helpful, but needs some tweaking

This app is simple and shows you your usage, however, there are some things that bug me.
1. As your billing month progresses, the yellow days marker proceeds around circle clockwise. As you use data, however, the 'used' indicator progresses counter-clockwise, meaning you cannot directly visualise where your data usage sits in relation to your billing days. Both indicators should go in the same direction so you can tell whether your Day usage is in front of the days.
2. The 'used' segment of data doesn't show how many GB has been used, only a percentage, whereas the other segments (remaining, databank) show how many GB you have. I'm not sure why data used would be shown as a percentage but remaining and databank as GB. All should be GB in my opinion.
3. Perhaps my major issue is that when you click on your service to see a detailed view of calls and data usage, the voice calls and data usage displayed is delayed by multiple days. I'm currently out camping and cannot even get an idea of how many MB I've been consuming per day over the last couple of days of camping.
4. I don't like that I have to click the Face ID login button every time I open the app. Just have Face ID activate immediately on launch with no need for a button press.
This app only needs to be simple, which it is, but a few design tweaks will make it more user friendly and convey information more effectively.

App crash everytime when tap on internet used circle

I want to view my daily usage, i cant view as everytime i tap on the circle where it says ‘used’ the app crashes.
