Won't Retain Settings

Since installing this app, I have had to pair and re-pair countless times. It seems if you don't use it VERY frequently, the settings are lost. I can see the device in my Bluetooth devices, but need to delete and repair those as well each time. The account login process is also buggy. Often I feel it's not worth the hassle and check the thermometer manually for my grill.

This worked well for a couple of years, after the update to the app it now fails to connect rendering the device useless.

Update

I have to say I was wrong about the QR code that I thought didn’t exist. It’s inside the battery cover. My unit works again now. It’s really handy I just wish it was built a little better.

Used to work great, broke on iOS 26

The app was paired and working fine, but has reset. I could add the base station it did not get past the “reset device first” pairing step. I had to fully delete the app and then factory reset the device and now it works again

Scan QR to activate - what QR code?

Bought a matador BBQ monitor my bbq thermometer ages ago. With the new update I now need to re-pair the device only I no longer have the manual or QR code and cannot sync to the app. Not helpful!

Works on new iPhone

Lots of reviews here saying it doesn’t work. however it seems to work completely fine for me and I’ve never had an issue pairing it. It will even pair without me requesting it sometimes when I just leave it on by accident. For its price it is very good.

Won’t pair

This app is the worst that I’ve ever used. I need to create an account, give them my email, agree to their terms and conditions, create a password and pair with the device. This is so that I can use a thermometer! Of course none of the previous mentioned steps have worked s
so far, but they do not have my email and are quite happy to spam me.

Worked on and off

Worked sometimes, most of the time it’s a pain, when it works it works well. Got new wifi and no longer works at all and now my QR code is gone it won’t work all together. Unless there’s a way to go around it I’ll be purchasing another temperature probe from another company.

Works perfectly for me!

I downloaded the app after buying the Matador kit from Bunnings. Works an absolute treat for me so I don’t know what those other muppets are talking about. Probably trying to run it on an iPhone 4. I’ve currently got a pork loin crackling away inside the Weber and loving the accessibility of this app!

Great app… when you can get it to work

App paired and was working well. Then when I went to use it again I had to enter all my details again. It froze on the login screen saying I had to enter characters and numbers and symbols (which I had done). Even after reinstalling the app and changing passwords it will not go past the login page.

Good thermo & app. Trash instructions

The problem with this app & thermometer is the instruction manual is trash. But everything else works fine. The trick is there is a little dot you have to press during the connection process which says “confirm thermometer is flashing” then once selected you can press ‘next’ and move to the next screen and it connects straight away.

Can’t open app without QR code

When it works, it’s great. However the app keeps crashing if you close it. Doesn’t seem to want to run in the background. Can be annoying when you want to keep an eye on the the temp graph etc.

Crashes continuously

Crashes 6-10 times before it might finally let you check how dinner is going. i just keep trying to launch the app and eventually it will start ok but definitely will be returning the product. What a shame 🙃

Crashes constantly- won’t pair

I want to love this app/thermometer, but the app will only sync to the thermometer about 1/3 if the time , another third it thinks there are no probs connect , another 1/3rd , nothing at all.
When you have it all working, if I switch out (Eg check a text) and switch back into the app it crashes about 80% of the time.
When it works , it’s great, bit that is vary rare!

Crashing app

Sick of the app constantly crashing and having to turn my phone off to get it started makes the conveniences of the whole thing pointless, knew I should of brought an ink bird don’t waste your money get one that actually cares about there customers. And I had an IPhone 13 and it is up to date

Really annoying

By the time I had paired this unnecessarily difficult device to my iPhone 14 I was ready to smash it. Why make it so hard? Pairing my phone to my Mercedes took 30 seconds. Do not buy this unless you like things to be way over complicated

Activation code

If you lose the barcode in the instructions, you can throw the device away. There is an absurd step required and won’t work if you ever change the phone and can’t find that code.

Terrible. Doesn’t do the most basic thing

The app doesn’t alert you when the food is cooked! It has settings for ring tone, vibration and notifications and when they’re all turned on, and notifications are allowed for the app in iOS settings and the food reaches the set cooked temperature…. Nothing Happens. It still is connected to the thermometer, if you look at the app while food’s cooking it shows the temperature increasing and it does display the cooked temperature when it reaches it (and goes even higher because it didn’t alert you!). But it just doesn’t notify you when it’s cooked! No ring. No vibration. No notification. Absolutely pointless app and consequently the money spent on an expensive, wifi enabled, electronic food thermometer is absolutely wasted.
Also it is REALLY difficult to get it to connect the thermometer to the app in your phone. There is what looks like a small notice “Confirm backlight flashes rapidly” with a tiny circle that actually is a very non-standard-design radio button that means your device won’t pair if it’s not selected.
To make things even harder the printed manual you get with the thermometer: needs a magnifying glass to read it in some places and doesn’t tell you to tap that odd radio button.
Basically, The App lets the whole product down. It would be a good product if it wasn’t for this app.

Worse App I’ve ever used.

This is easily the worst app that I have ever used. It crashes 90% of the time when you try and open it. A truly terrible product - do yourself a favour and buy any other brand.

Useless. Have to re-add the device each time I use it. Having to log in is a pain, this is the sort of thing you just want to work straight away. Last time I use it today, waste of money.

Hit and miss with blue tooth connection to the phone

Ended up deleting the app and reinstalling it. Gets to the point of pairing and won’t go any further. The device says it’s paired however the app is not recognising it so won’t go any further

Useless

Tried pairing for an hour.
Deleted app and tried again multiple times but just wouldn’t work.
Keeps asking for the internet password and account each time i tried to pair.
Will be returning to the shop i bought it from.
In theory it looks great but just wouldn’t work.

Connection Tip.

The only way I could get it to connect via Wifi was to delete the app and reinstall and then go though the setup process. This was stated above and it does work.

Works well

Received this as a Christmas present, followed the directions for installing the app and connecting the thermometers and it worked perfectly for a roast on the Webber. No issues with connection or it dropping out.

Won’t pair easily

Tried over and over to pair but failing each time with Bluetooth. The ez connect mode option would report success but the app then asks for Wi-Fi name and password each time I try. Finally out of frustration, deleted and reinstalled the app and it just worked immediately - nothing else to configure. Also the button for ‘confirm backlight blinks rapidly’ is not obvious it is a button (too small) and is difficult to find the right place on the screen to press it.

The Grill

This application is very poor. Won’t go past the detection and pairing stage no matter. Doesn’t remember the history. Doesn’t scan the QRcode on the device. Ezy mode doesn’t work. Bluetooth is not properly created and doesn’t work on iOS. Definitely a C- .
Rewrite it without the cloud login dependency, use that as a feature option. Get rid of the network dependency as well.

Won’t pair

Won’t pair with phone and when it does it takes you back to the wifi password page then wants to repair. Extremely disappointed for the price

Disappointing

Purchased the matador wireless thermometer and at first it looked great. I was really disappointed when I followed the steps in the instructions and the thing just would not pair with the app at all.
Had to return the next day.

App does not work!!

Pairing to the device does not work and the device turns itself off every 30 secs whilst trying to pair. I will be taking the device back to the store for a refund.
