Primarily an Apple TV rant
I have never come across an app with a UI so terrible.
I’ve got this on browser, iPhone and Apple TV (by far the worst)
I know of at least 5 people who have cancelled their subscriptions because they got so frustrated using this. Basic functions just don’t exist, dicing through menus for captions, no ability to scrub glitchy menus, I could go on.
Love for someone to fix the mess that is this app.
Shame because the content is really good.

Awful app. Fast forward & rewind are terrible The UI on Apple TV is unclear - you end up having to move left, right, up or down to figure out where you are No subtitles Will let the free trial lapse. Won’t be back until the UI problems are sorted. App is irritating to use.
24/4/2021 Tried service again - app still appalling.
31/1/2023 - still terrible. Gets itself in such a state you’ve got to reset the Apple TV then go back into the app.
Garbage.

Version 1.1.14
Worked great for a while but now constantly “cannot find device” (which hasn’t changed). All other streaming services are fine. No phone contact so chat tells you to restart your TV…sometimes this works first go…sometimes it takes 10 goes…this appears to be happening more often of late. Infuriating when you want to watch something before bed but by the time you get it working it’s too late to watch. Premium price, below par service.

For some reason, I didn’t watch Game of Thrones when it first came out. The app is often pausing mid stream when there is no interruption to the internet.
It freezes and I have to close the app and restart it.
Plus the app needs to be more intelligent, Its ridiculous to enter my password and login every single time I open the app it should automatically remember that just the way Netflix and prime do. Subpar.

Version 1.1.14
Generally when I write a review it’s positive but this app is just really poorly optimised. When used with fast and stable internet connection it frequently freezes and will be stuck buffering for hours if you let it. Force closing the app will generally reset this but sometimes it can’t even get past the binge load screen when you relaunch the app.
Scrolling through movies many of the tiles are blank and take a ridiculous amount of time to populate.
Last I checked no way to download content for offline viewing.
Running this with a recent model iPad Air and home wifi connection, never have these problems with the YouTube or Netflix app which both work seamlessly, even the free network tv apps work better than this. Can’t believe this is the product that is delivered to paying customers. Seriously behind the competition.

Version 1.1.14
Why why why do some developers think they can come up with better UI than Apple? Navigating Binge on an AppleTV is a disaster. Try fast forwarding a show. If you can. And if you link the App to the AppleTV App it doesn’t always correctly remember where you got to and resumes from the wrong place. Just stick to the Apple guidelines, Binge. So frustrating.

Version 1.1.14
Compared to Netflix / Stan - the functionality is super clunky , like putting close captions on you have to go to settings instead of in the show, it freezes a lot if you pause and then it looses where you were watching , what you would expect from a company primarily owned by Murdoch so no real surprises

Improving visionary content:

 –

2022-11-20
By improving the actual content for various shows with what people are watching most of and providing that similar arrangement due to the fan’s enjoyment can only become a much better tool for those who mostly appreciate the content provided to Binge customers, those less fortunate shows people fail to watch maybe at some stage benched for something more formidable and content ready in regards to people’s choice in relation to there life style and what they enjoy most from a particular show, which is life experience.

Too many restrictions!!!

2022-09-24
Only reason I have this app is to watch GOT and HOTD otherwise I would have ended my subscription. This app is trash with its restrictions. I tried connecting my iPhone to my tv to watch shows and movies via hdmi cord. It gets stuck on the loading circle and will only play the sound so I have to go on a different website to stream the same movie/tv show from my phone to the tv and it works fine, so the only explanation for that is binge has restrictions stopping it. Also it won’t let me upgrade to a premium account from standard for some stupid reason. No Picture in Picture option which is weird as literally every other streaming service I have offers that. Considering it is more expensive then Netflix and Disney + it is absolute trash.. I am tempted to just end my subscription and watch my shows on a third party website.

No Picture in Picture Option

 –
Mads_2022.!

2022-09-21
I can see the same review is left repeatedly so I don’t understand why this hasn’t been fixed already. I have four other streaming apps and Binge is the only one that doesn’t offer Picture in Picture.
Binge has almost all of the shows I love that are spread out on the four other apps. I’d probably default to using Binge for almost everything and drop some of the other apps if they had the Picture in Picture feature. I live alone so I like to put a show on my phone while Im cooking dinner and reading a recipe on my phone, or texting a friend or playing a game on my phone while outside 🚬. But I can’t do any of this without stopping my show and getting out of the Binge app.
It is single handedly the worst thing about the app so I’m surprised they haven’t installed this feature. I only keep Binge for GOT and HOTD as it’s exclusive to Binge in Aus. If those were offered on other channels.. I would end my subscription. Definitely missing the mark with Gen Z by not offering this feature.

I am really liking Binge. I think I might keep it for a while. I am finding the shows to be unique. Cost is reasonable. I scroll through lots and keep saying to myself “aaah yesss I wanna watch that one!”
Lost a star because I find the app to be not so great in functionality. For example when I tap into a movie to read more and then I want to come out of it, it takes me all the way to the top again, or is not very good at remembering last watched time exactly.
However the appearance of the app is very good. Can easily tell what a show is about. LOVE having the imdb ratings. I hate it when the other apps try and force you to watch something with vague ratings. Overall I think it’s great!

Still a horrible app after a number of years.

 –
Emylou23300
 –
2022-08-29
Honestly the only reason binge is still in business is the content, the platform is atrocious.
* Get used to closing and reopening your app since this seems to be the only reliable way of controlling it.
* When you go to rewatch an episode it restarts from around 10 seconds from the end (why would you set this as the default for completed episodes??) and if before you can restart the episode it goes onto the next there’s basically no hope of going back to the previous without restarting the app
* When casting the app more often than not ends up disconnected from the stream and you need to stop casting and close app to resolve
* Closed captions regularly don’t work even when turned on for eligible shows.

Good but bad

I would give this app 3.4 if I could because absolutely amazing content choices but the only thing is the app. Some shows it isn’t the best of quality but most of them are good. Another thing is that
when you want to go full screen but your phone/iPad/other is on vertical it does really let you to go full screen it‘s just the screen at the top of your device and then information down the bottom (which pretty much is 3/4 of your screen) Another reason I gave this a 3 is because when you want to go out of the app but still watch while you do something it doesnt let you. I get very annoyed by this so please add that in! But overall VERY good app! I would recommend it but those are just some things I would like Binge to work on:) (I’m so bad at wording this sorry)

Price increase and ?customer service?

 –
holly_wood
 –
2022-07-23
Price increase again. Hmm it’s getting pricey.
Content is good but app has trouble synching ‘continue watching’ - often will ‘continue’ several episodes earlier than last watched, so go to ‘show all eps’ and scroll down to find last (actually) watched.
I hope some of the extra subscription fees goes into customer service. Reading through other APP reviews WITH responses, they are generic at best, to WT??? (Eg customer states ‘last 8 months’ and the reply says ‘we had some issues LAST SUNDAY’!! Now that’s an embarrassing reply/shows ‘autopilot mode’ customer service 😳). Relevance??How does last Sunday explain the prior 7mths:3weeks?
Please READ and reply like you care BINGE* team (*management allow your team to use initiative, if this robot mode comes from your level. Spend some of the extra subscription fees on this team)
I personally have contacted customer support multiple times (two separate issues) by email & phone and have received different answers (to the same question) so I have found dealing with the customer service team/binge frustrating. Eg the ‘season return date’ answer should be (a) easier to see for ourselves (b) be a consistent answer for staff to advise

UPDATE: Still Unreliable Rubbish

Netflix reliability, perfect. Paramount + reliability, perfect. Prime reliability, perfect. Disney + reliability, perfect. Decided to give Binge another go thinking they might have made some effort to respond proactively to negative reviews. Everything up to date, latest app versions and no VPN as recommended. Binge reliability, constant buffering, glitches and crashing. The only thing that’s changed is the plethora of fake 5 star reviews in an effort to boost overall rating. Save your money folks, it’s still not worth the frustration. Appalling service.
Previous review.
Barely a day into using the app on Apple TV it crashes. Deleted app, reset device, re-downloaded app, continues to crash. Still within trial period so thankfully didn’t cost me anything. And it won’t. Subscription cancelled.

Usability of the app isn’t great.

Version 1.1.7
The app has great content, but so much about the interface and it’s usability is terrible. Most apps (like Netflix) design things in a way that the usability is obvious and easy but navigating this app on a phone and a TV is very frustrating, for example when you use the “cast” option from the phone app why is the volume function in the “cast” icon and not just an icon of its own on the bottom navigation close to the play button ??? It took me a good three weeks to figure out where it was and when I did it was by accident. 🫥Please work on your interface and the speed of your app, maybe use the Netflix tv and phone app as an example because it’s very easy to use.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to after using the Binge Apple TV app and experiencing it’s usability issues. Great variety of shows to watch, but I wanted to fast forward to a specific point in a episode and I just couldn’t manage to do it. It was so incredibly frustrating that I couldn’t simply fast swipe my finger across on the remote to a point on the timeline and press play like every other app out there. I gave up in the end. Also, the reloading that happens when you click on a show to view more info then click back to the Home screen is really annoying and disorienting. Please make the app more intuitive and match the basic interactions other apps offer.

Bad User Experience, Good Selection of Shows

Binge has a great selection of shows that other streaming services don’t, but what a terrible experience using the app! The app isn’t available via smart TV, which is annoying as I have to stream from my phone. The app frequently disconnects from the Chromecast so I have to reboot the app to control it. A big bug bear is that when searching for something to watch, you have to click on a show to read more about it, it redirects you to the show via a new link and page, you read about it, then when you go back to searching, you lose your place and have to spend 20 seconds navigating to it all over again. Also inclusion of trailers would be helpful. Work needed!

Unfortunately the worst Apple TV app I’ve ever used

This review is for the APPLE TV version. It’s bad, and unfortunately quite frustrating.
It’s as if the Binge team needed a designer so they found someone who knows how a streaming program worked in theory, but hadn’t quite used one before. Navigation is really tough, and scrubbing through the show is not easy at all (for example, the -15 and +15 second mechanic seems to be coded in but doesn’t work at all), and once you select the right spot, it takes too many button presses to go back to the movie you’re watching.
I guess there’s a chance the iPad app isn’t quite as bad of course, but I’d love some improvement on the Apple TV app please, just to bring it in line with that standardised navigation and control designs that all other streaming services all use. Thank you

Shows are good which is the only reason I am keeping binge, for now. But the app is horrendous. Freezes all the time, sometimes with the picture and the sound continues and you have to exit and restart, other times just with the spinning loading logo and then you have to exit and restart anyways. Internet can never connect and I have tried it on 5G, 4G, or sitting directly next to my wifi. I have paramount, disney, Netflix, Stan, prime and have zero issues with any of those apps. Only binge. Can’t pre- download and watch shows later so forget trying to watch it on a train on your way to work, on a plane, or anywhere that doesn’t have the highest speed Wi-Fi you can imagine, and even then that doesn’t seem to be sufficient. And You can’t watch it on your phone or tablet and then continue using your phone/ tablet e.g to check a message or whatever which again I can do with literally every other app. So far behind in the game it’s ridiculous!

As stated in previous reviews, the content you guys have is decent, it features a lot of shows especially within Australia we are unable to get on Netflix etc. Although you could highly improve the availability of all seasons within a show, Chicago PD for example features seasons 3,7,8 & 9, this is good but this makes customers have to buy multiple streaming services ( not yours ) to get the content of all seasons. More so the app needs significant improvements, it’s always loading, or bugging out, not showing captions, loading episodes, taking ages to load episodes, like a solid 20 minutes and then getting an episode for about 3 seconds for it to freeze again. I’ve tried on my phone, my boyfriends phone, we’ve even upgraded to newer phones, ps5, different TVs and even switched plans from SD to the HD and vice versa and these problems are STILL OCCURING. For real some major fixes needed to be put in for this app to receive anymore then 2 starts, your content is the only thing that makes it worth buying.

This app rates poorly for usability compared to those of other streaming services out there. Most egregious is the inability to remove shows from the “Continue bingeing” section. So if I just want to have a peak at a show but then decide it’s not for me, it appears on the “Continue bingeing” section and can’t be removed unless I go into each episode and fast forward to the end! Hopeless! Especially if it has multiple seasons! All that does is make me very reluctant to try out a new series as I don’t know if I’m going to be stuck with it in my stream forever! Please fix this. All the other similar apps provide this facility and you should too. Also, the mechanism for fast forwarding or rewinding is pretty clunky.

If it wasn’t for the fact the content is obviously only streamable here nobody would have this app. My rating is purely for the app. Horrible design both UX/UI wise. Non intuitive, non functional and not that pretty either.
One of the biggest flaws is not being able to turn off auto play… what is that? Feels like the masters of binge sat down in a room and said “auto-play, forget it. If it’s truely bingeable and staying to the (ghastly) app name we came up with, the user shouldn’t have an option but to binge. Will they complain, maybe. Should they have the option.. No”.
This poor choice has led to the annoyance to if you fall asleep; what episode am I up to? Also if I’m on mobile data, shows have been playing endlessly all night.
Trying to navigate to content and discover new or search topical/genre driven content isn’t that great either. Though thank goodness it’s at least possible.
Feels like a lot of ideas have been thrown at the app without a single voice in charge of direction. A streaming app doesn’t need to be cluttered and complicated to be functional and useful and enjoyed by all.
I’ll happily endorse it if positive changes are made. It’s up to you now binge.

Content is good. App needs work.
It rarely remembers what show you’ve been watching, let alone what episode or how far through that episode you were. So constantly have to search for the show and go through multiple episodes to figure out where you were up to.
There is no other option then auto play. Even after movies. So it will automatically start playing whatever it feels like after you’ve finished watching something. So likely skewing the algorithm of the type of things you like to watch. I tend to watch things to help me sleep, I wake up with random movies on my “continue bingeing” list that I don’t care for and can’t easily remove.
I have an LG smart TVs but binge doesn’t have an agreement / app in place with them so I have to cast from another device to watch on tv. If I’m casting, binge counts this as 2 devices which is the account limit…frustrating when really you are only using one device.

Maybe a soft 3.5

GREAT content and the Chromecast functionality has never failed, but the UI/UX is really not intuitive. Firstly, the haptics are very slow and often take at least 2 presses to register a response. Once pressed the load time is quite laggy, requiring me to close and re-open the app just be able to view the description screen for a movie/episode. The slow load time is especially evident when scrolling down the home screen, causing the app to take up to 6 seconds to generate more titles.
Secondly, browsing should be completed within the homescreen itself without being sent to a separate page when opening a new title, with the user losing their scroll progress when they navigate back to the home screen.
Lastly, once a show/film has reached the end of its runtime, a completely unrelated title begins to autoplay, with almost no time and no option provided to cancel it (barring disconnecting the stream altogether). With the unwanted title then in the user’s watchlist, there is no option to remove it.
There are significant improvements that need to be made to the app’s functionality, but it definitely has promise.

Like others have said, the content is fantastic and sure beats the exorbitant fees I was paying to Foxtel (and then forced to upgrade at additional cost because they were switching off the IQ2 service!) I have noticed some of the bugs mentioned in reviews here have been fixed for example I can resume mid show with a progress bar telling me what I’ve watched and the next episode autoplays.
BUT my gripe is that when my total streams are being used and someone else tries to log in, the existing viewers are booted off their show. If maximum streams are reached then how can a new viewer even begin streaming? It is incredibly annoying to have your show stop mid episode and have to wait 5 minutes for the app to realise the other viewer has also now logged out and let you resume. If max streams are reached a new viewer should be blocked from beginning the show in the first place. And it didn’t just boot one viewer off - all other viewers were booted!
Please fix this.

I subscribed to Binge to watch the Friends Reunion. We are now watching Game of Thrones on it and I’m excited for other HBO exclusive shows that aren’t on other streaming services.
The only thing I think it needs is the ability to control audio with your phone’s volume buttons while streaming to another device. All other streaming services can do this and it is extremely frustrating that it doesn’t work on this app. I also find the audio quite imbalanced as it is either too loud or too soft. Other than that, great app and seems to have been improved since all of the other bad reviews have been made.

Firstly, I LOVE Binge. My friends and family are all fans of the content! Unfortunately, the application is a pain. Navigation can be fiddly and frustrating, it often forgets where you left off, and it would be great to have the option of stopping auto play.
While for the most part the app is usable on iPhones / iPads, we found that it struggles on our TV. Some videos will play and some won’t, and sometimes we will be logged out mid video. Recently - despite days of troubleshooting, we are unable to play any video (forever loading).
Please improve the app functionality! The content is fantastic but suffers due to the lack of usability.

The shows and the movies are awesome and I would highly recommend watching them. The problem I have with binge is that the app has some technical difficulties. It logs you out of the app even if you are constantly using it. Today it logged me out and didn’t let me sign back in. I usually watch binge through chrome cast and halfway through the show it will disconnect.
When you are watching the episode, it will rarely say it is having trouble so it is perfectly fine when you are watching it. If you leave the episode halfway and decide watch it later it sometimes might take you back to the start
Apart from that, this is a app with Great content and I give content 10/10 😺😺😺😸😸😸

The player is good but the app doesn’t mark the point which has been watched up to accurately and consistently. When watching a series it doesn’t record all the episodes that have been watched so you have to remember and then skip through to the right place if you didn’t finish one... pretty lame. Browsing experience is entirely scroll carousels too which feels very restricted as sections can’t be opened up, makes it not ideal for finding things to watch.
Update - developer response is a blatant lie, this issue has nothing to do with closing the app, it happens when exiting out of a stream while in the app. There are numerous other reviews highlighting this flaw in the app, the developers are completely aware but just don’t fix it. They know they don’t have to produce a competitive product because people will subscribe and put up with the garbage app because Binge is part of the Foxtel monopoly over exclusive content.

I love the content Binge provides, but find the actual app itself kind of overwhelming. Auto play is a needed feature, I use a chrome cast and have to constantly connect to continue playing. I wish the linear channels were higher up in the lists of shows. It lacks the fluidity a lot of other streaming apps have which make it so easy to use. Overall great content but a labyrinth of an app to navigate through.
Update: Chromecast not playing next episode, I have the latest chromecast, app is up to date, iOS up to date. Very frustrating! Often disconnects or connects and doesn’t cast where I have to disconnect manually then reconnect to play!!

We have been with Binge for a few weeks now and love the content for the price. However, the one issue our family has is that there is no autoplay function with Chromecast. When you play directly through the app, episodes autoplay with no issue, but as soon as you start streaming through Chromecast, you need to open the app every time you need to access the next episode of a series. It is quite frustrating and yes we have the latest version of Binge and the Google Home app. I hope this gets resolved soon as we are really enjoying using Binge.

It is a great app, I have been using this streaming service for a while now and it is great! There are shows on here that I can’t get in other streaming services. The only thing that I can say that is a minus which is why I said 4 stars instead of 5 is that while I’m watching a show or movie is that if I get out of the app I can’t keep watching on a smaller section on my screen like Netflix or Stan. So if I am watching something on either of those apps I can get out of it and still continue to watch the show while I scroll through Facebook or anything else, but if I am on binge if I quickly want to check something else like Facebook or whatever the show/movie pauses and I have to go back into the app. That is the only issue I have. Other that that the app and platform is great!

No Autoplay. Hard to use interface. Can’t always pick up where you left off, most shows/movies start from beginning. Can’t pause the show when my phone is locked (streaming to tv). The rewind and fast forward isn’t accurate. Can’t look for other shows when you’re watching one. Some shows/seasons aren’t available in my region but are still displayed.
Honestly if there weren’t shows i actually wanted to watch on here then i’d cancel my subscription. I won’t be renewing though.
I’ve already contacted support and they blamed my phone. My software is completely up to date with over 120GB of storage left.
You guys need to fix this. It’s ridiculous that you can put out an app for as long as you have and not fix these things.
Only rating 2 stars because of range of shows and movies.

I’ve updated my previous 1 star review to 2 stars, with my biggest issues still being the below. For a steaming service, most of these shouldn’t be difficult to overcome, and would drastically improve the user experience.
- Can’t seem to be able to remove a mistakenly played show from the “continue bingeing” list
- I now have a large number of titles I’ve completed in my “Continue Bingeing” section, with “8m Left”, “4m Left”, “3m Left”, etc. There’s no way to mark them as watched, and it’s not smart enough to recognise the movie’s over and it’s in credits!
- Can’t seem to select “Channels” from the main navigation. It might be in there, but good luck finding it
- The general user interface is just so clunky. Get rid of those huge title cards already! If we want to see more of a title or add it to our list, we’ll select it.
** RESOLVED **
- No TV App integration (resolved)
- Home indicator doesn’t disappear when watching content (resolved)
- No closed captions (resolved)
- Search is a wreck. For example, search “Tom Cruise” and a whole lot of unrelated content appears (resolved)

I actually really like the content, but the app is AWFUL. How do you make something this unstable and buggy, when there are so many excellent streaming apps out there already?
I watch on my TV via Apple TV which works great for every other app. For Binge, it’s a nightmare. It never remembers how far into an episode I’ve watched, so when I go back it will either start the most recent episode from the beginning - or better still, it will have forgotten that I watched the episodes at all and just offer to start the TV show from episode 1.
Trying to do anything other than watching (like turning the subtitles on or off, or rewinding too much) is liable to crash the app. Not always, but often enough to be really annoying.
And sometimes after pausing for slightly too long, the sound disappears after resuming.
Also... a less annoying point, but all the show tag lines and episode descriptions are wonky. Either cutting off halfway through a sentence, or just a semi-sensical word soup. Surely an easy fix...
Overall the app seems like a really rushed job that’s just a really crappy user experience.
For pity’s sake, just give us an AppleTV app like Netflix, Stan and Prime do, and none of this will be a problem.

Binge has great content but it’s almost not worth it because of how terrible the app is.
There is no auto play to next episode when connected to chromecast (incredibly ironic for an app called Binge), I constantly have to disconnect my chromecast from the wall after one or two episodes because the app won’t play the next episode and there is no stop casting option in the app, it has regular issues with fast forwarding or rewinding, often doesn’t save your position in the episode which means manually searching through episodes to find where you’re up to, and it’s not the best to search through for new shows (it’s easier to google what’s on binge than to actually use the app).
To be honest, the issues with the app aren’t worth the content and I will (and I expect others will too) probably delete my Binge account if these issues aren’t resolved soon.

I love the Binge content and have no issues watching on my IiPhone or streaming to the TV via Chromecast, but the iPad app is an absolute piece of garbage. It constantly freezes and gives the spinning circle when playing and only a forced close of the app will get it playing again. At most I can watch for 10 minutes at a time before it freezes. Been happening since I first subscribed to Binge back in April. Same issue across 2 different iPad models, both less than 2 years old and both with most recent or n-1 version of iOS. No joy re-installing app. Tried across different wifi networks at home, friends houses and 4G. Same issue. No issues with 3 other streaming services iPad apps from same devices and networks. How hard is it to have a functional app?? Or don’t offer it for an operating system/device you’re not willing to support.

If I could give this app 2.5 stars I would, because it’s really a 50/50 for me. There is lots of identical content on Binge that I was paying twice the price for on Foxtel Go, but the interface is painful. If you even look at the app the wrong way it logs you out. On good days, you can pick up where you left off on a series on the homepage, on a bad day, you will have to search for the show you were watching, being logged out repeatedly at every step, then scroll through all the episodes reading the synopses (because no progress bars appear to indicate a show has been watched).
The app hates pausing, but also fast forward and rewind, so picking up where you left off is a nightmare. I can’t tell you how many times I have just had to settle for watching a huge chunk of shows over again.
I will press on for the time being, but if the problems persist because as I said, the content is decent, but unless things improve, I will probably give up.

The only reason you should subscribe to binge is to watch game of thrones and walking dead. The app is horrible and full with stupid bugs. I need to sign into my TV every time and it doesn’t let me sign in so easily I need start the app and let it load for 10 min than close it restart my tv and hope that the app let me sign in and if it takes like 20 so I’m busy signing in about 20-40 min each day. Some of got episodes are not playable like season 2 episode 6 it just doesn’t start and the support is a mess, it just tells you to reconnect your internet and Binge hasn’t done anything about this bugs which is really sad because the app has a lot of potential and could be a better Foxtel. The good thing is that there are a lot of tv shows and movies from HBO max which is just available in the US

I’ll admit the User Interface isn’t the best and could use some tweaking but the actual TV series and Movies they have on there are phenomenal. You can watch The Sopranos on Binge whilst on Netflix you cannot. They also have HBO exclusive series that as far as I know is not available on any streaming service besides Binge. The only thing stopping this from getting a 5 star review is the user interface, I see myself clicking onto the next episode and whatnot on accident although once you get used to it, it isn’t that bad and you can scroll through without a problem.
The Verdict:
Give the 2 week free trial a go and if you don’t like it then you can just cancel, but give the app a shot as it’s really not as bad as others make it out to be.

I enjoy the great selection binge has to offer for youngsters and also the classics for mature viewers. I think the price is fair. The only downfall which is a daily struggle for my family is when connected to Chrome-cast via iPhone I can’t seem to auto play TV episodes. When I’m very busy, I put binge on for my daughter. It’s extremely frustrating when the shows episodes are only approx 9 minutes long and it won’t automatically play the next episode. So every 9 minutes I must stop my work, unlock my device, reconnect to chrome cast, search for the episode and press play, knowing in under 10 minutes time I’ll have to do the same thing all over again. It may not be a big deal to some but to me it’s the difference between rating 2 stars instead of 5 stars. Auto play next episode would make my life easier and allow me to do my work and manage my time more efficiently. Please fix this app to allow auto play then I will Happily give you a five star review .

Between episodes the binge app will stop casting to my tv and won’t reconnect. I’ve talked to the binge tech guys via live chat who confirm this shouldn’t happen and to delete the app and re-download it. This works but means I’m deleting and reinstalling at least twice per evening. It happens every second or third episode. This has nothing to do with my tv or chrome cast as Netflix and Stan have never had this issue. It’s incredibly frustrating. Further to that, the binge app doesn’t remember where I left off on the last episode so I have to write down what I was up to and keep track myself. Also the app doesn’t have continuous play.. so each episode I need to get my phone to select the next episode which I find very ironic for an app called binge that I can’t actually binge. There’s a good selection of old favorites which is why I am putting up with the headache, but likely will not continue after my free trial. I don’t recommend at all.. plenty of other options for streaming entertainment

App needs to be fixed. Biggest bugs i have found is it does not autoplay next episode, always need to go in to the app, which has disconnected from the chromecast so i have to reconnect it by shutting app down, reopening and then reconnecting AND then choosing the next episode of what i was watching. The other main bug i have is it will come up with a “you’re exceeding the number of screens available to your subscription” error. I have the highest tier subscription so this should not be a problem and it’s only myself and partner using the app.
I have sent an email to their support with this problem and received a reply saying it was sorted I shouldn’t have a problem anymore... well I don’t know if anything had actually happened because I certainly get the exact same problem. I believe it’s the app more than anything but surely with so many of the same faults in some many of the reviews i have read so far they should have fixed it by now!
Edit: Despite being told the “too many screens being streamed on” problem is fixed, it still occurs. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it to make sure I have the latest version and there is still no further update. Also, the fact it still doesn’t autoplay the next episode in a series through chromcast is just terrible and needs to be fixed fast!

The layout of this app is very clumsy. It feels like the sections don’t fit my screen properly. It’s like it’s all magnified and I have to scroll to find things (like episodes) when I would prefer to see them at a glance. Like when checking the ‘binge list’, it took me a while to figure out where all the shows were because you can only see one massive one when you enter that tab so I tried scrolling left and right like you do on the big banner shows in the home screen.
The view when watching a show is also ridiculously small. Why does the description of the show take up 3/4 of the screen??
I also kept losing my place when casting to my tv. I would pause and come back and the episode would begin again. The same has happened in regards to my progress with the episodes. It says I’m half way through episode 3 and I’m actually up to 5. I allowed it to play before pausing and disconnecting and it still didn’t work.
There NEEDS to be subtitles - I’m baffled that there aren’t any.

Same as many of the reviews here, the issues with the app are awful. It makes watching a single episode of anything near impossible without my stream pausing and a notice saying that the maximum number of streams has been reached when I only have one thing streaming. I try to watch it on my chrome cast but have to reset the app several times for a 40 min episode. I am the only person who uses this so no one else is streaming on my account.
The content is good but I won’t be paying for this much longer if the app issues aren’t sorted out.
Edit: the streaming issue is better so have upped the stars but still would like a smoother app with captions and automatic play of the next episode when chrome casting to the tv

Firstly great shows and movies, which are the only positive points about this app. I have had to cancel my first subscription because via the Apple subscription I can only access Binge with 2 screens, as I was constantly getting an error message saying I’ve hit my limit on the number of screens. So I re-subscribed online under my wife’s details so I could get 4 screens. After a week I am now getting the same error message saying that I’ve reached my limit on the number of screens, and I am no where near watching Binge on 4 screens. The only help I can get is sending them an email with no contact phone numbers to call anyone. Knowing this is all under Telstra I’m not surprised that the customer service will be rubbish. Ridiculous now considering I’m paying $18 a month to not able to watch anything on binge because the development of this app and service is rubbish.

Absolute rubbish. Full of glitches, bugs and errors. Signed up on Friday night and couldn’t watch anything until Saturday evening as content wasn’t accessible. Kept getting error messages that too many screens were being accessed (when I was only accessing 1) error continued to pop up after every single episode had finished and I had to reset everything each time to jiggle it to work - tech help had no idea why and what the problem was other than to blame my internet. 2 days later a different error message stating media unknown popped up and I cannot access any content. Each and every time I have attempted to seek help I am told it is my devices or internet speed yet all the other big name apps like nettflix etc all work problem free. Binge is an absolute headache and not worth it. I won’t be signing up after the trial expires.

If I was paying for the content, I’d be pretty frustrated at how buggy the app is, but since I’m getting the content free via Telstra, I’m pretty meh. The content is fairly standard fare with Foxtel content galore. Its definitely not the be all and end all and I definitely wont be ditching the other streaming apps, but its OK I guess. Not as good as it’s hyped up to be, thats for sure. Maybe if it had more than one or two seasons of the shows I watch (particularly for those with 9, 10, 15 seasons) I’d be happier. Overall, not a great app, fairly bland content and its still Murdoch owned so...
Edit: you know, telling people to ‘log out’ to fix the Oops too many streams error is ridiculous. I get the same error and there is NO ONE sharing my account or passwords. Not. One. Soul. Instead of giving the cookie cutter response, why don’t you actually FIX the issue? I tried watching a movie, 3 minutes in the error happens. Restart, 1 minute error, log out/log in barely 30 seconds error. Fix the error. Please.

Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.

It is exceedingly obvious that the head honchos at Binge decided to try and capitalise on the covid quarantine market by launching Binge in a rush.
In doing so they failed to beta test the Binge app and address any bugs or issues within the software.
The issues and lack of features make this a lousy competitor to other streaming services available.
Netflix offers 4 devices for $20. Binge offers 4 devices for $18. Yet they do not offer closed captions (when you have a deaf child, this is vital to ensure she feels included in movie night), there is no available app for smart tv’s and to use it with chromecast you will find it is temperamental and will frequently see error load messages which will no doubt cause many to cancel their subscriptions. I am one of those. While I had high hopes for Binge they have sadly put quick revenue before quality which in the long run will cost them more in customer sign ups than if they had waited and launched a quality product and worthy competitor to current streaming services.
I never thought I’d say that even Stan frustrates me less...

App is just full of bugs

Version 1.0.2
Such a disappointing experience with Binge so far. As others have said, the content is great...if you can ever get to actually access it. No matter what I try I constantly get the “oops max number of streams for this subscription is reached” message within 5 minutes of having started a program. Have tried re-entering password but the problem persists. Support respond to your request for help but all they do is tell you to reboot your devices. I don’t think they know how to fix this problem as based on the feedback, many people are experiencing the same thing. I’m sorry to say this is typical of my experience with Foxtel related products. They are very happy to take your money without producing a good result. Please fix this app ASAP or I will be expecting a refund as I can’t access the content.

Horrible streaming service

I was able to watch a show for 5 mins before it tells me that I’ve reached the max number of screens when I’m the only one that has access to the account. Emailed customer service they told me it’s cause of my Chromecast is old it’s 2nd gen and I have a 3rd gen in another room and told me to watch it on my phone then my phone was showing the same message. Why would I wanna watch it on my phone in the first place? What’s the point of this streaming service if I have to watch it on my phone not that it works anyway.
This app is poorly designed and customer service just blames it on you rather than trying to fix the bug. After the reading the reviews I’m not the only one with streaming issues. They told me to reset my password turn off my Chromecast turn off my phone then another customer service told me the same thing I’ve been doing that for 2 days and they keep telling me to do the same thing over and over Everytime I emailed customer service. Never had any issues with Netflix,Stan, and Hayu. I wouldn’t recommend this app.

Have had plenty of issues with this platform since it started. The main one is every 1-5 minutes I get a message saying that the maximum number of streams for my subscription has been reached. This makes no sense as I haven’t given anyone else access or used it on a different device. I even changed the password in case someone has been logging in with my information (don’t see how they could be) and the pop up came up straight after, so it’s clearly some issue from the Binge side.
I was using the app today and it was working fine, got the pop up as always so I closed the app and reopened it. Now it’s not even opening properly. Everytime I open it it just stays on the first binge screen without the possibility to press anything. There was an available update for the app so I updated it and the problem consisted. Constant struggle to actually just watch the content, let alone enjoy the funcion of the app. The actual library of movies and tv shows is good but at the end of the day it’s not worth it when other streaming platforms have as much content with far better capabilities.

Good content but simply HORRIBLE app

I concur with the majority of other frustrated users leaving poor reviews. The app is terrible. Absolutely terrible. Have been using Binge since launch and watching content on my iPad, iphone, PC Browser, AndroidTV, Chromecast to my TV. Problems are universal. It’s just a terribly built platform.
I can’t get S1E2 of a new show to play on ANY platform yet all other episodes play. Have deleted the app, reset devices, updated firmware and can’t get any response from Binge Tech support who have extremely limited office hours. Clearly the problem is on their end with the episode itself. They use a pathetic chatbot to troubleshoot then eventually tell you no one is available. No response from multiple attempts for help. Eventually had to miss the episode and try to figure out what I missed in the working episodes. PAAAATHETIC!!!
Foxtel have had a streaming app for years - well before so many others. How on earth have they dropped the ball so badly with Binge? Will be cancelling soon and won’t try again for another year because it will take them that long or more to rebuild the app or plug the problems to death before its fit for purpose. If they’re still in business by then.

In love

Despite the very harsh and very negative reviews I have read, this app has made a very outstanding difference to its competitors! I’m in love with the easy access and many useful features such as being able to view seasons, episodes and entirely different shows all whilst still being able to view the show that is being streamed! Although many improvements can be made such as the content view, allowing us only to see the most desirable shows, it is clear that this app sets itself away from others by allowing us to view mainstream or lower levelled shows that they may not.
I’m seriously in love and really supporting this app through its stages of improvement hopefully however I still enjoy being able to figure out and utilise its many unique features!
Smaller things are quite bugging though such as an error telling me that I’m reaching maximum streaming limit when I have access to only two streams and I haven’t handed out a spare account or mentioned to anyways that I have subscribed to Binge. Pretty frustrating having to close the application to reopen it and continue streaming every 15 minutes

Absolutely awful app

TV shows do not continue playing next episode - sometimes will repeat, sometimes do nothing.
Casting to chromecast yields inconsistent results - sometimes the show will continue playing but no longer via your iPad, so when you select next episode (manually, of course, because no auto play), it will play from your iPad and not the tv, but you can’t fix it because it still thinks it’s casting. When this happens, you cannot pause or stop what is playing on your tv without restarting your tv.
No subtitles, though I read that these are on the way.
After finishing a series the app will play something random, and then keep it in your “continue watching” history, with no option to clear it of the nonsense you do not intend to ever watch.
Browsing for tv shows or movies to watch is cluttered and not intuitive. The content on this app is good - when you can find it amongst the mess.
These are only a few of the problems with this app. PLEASE seek outside advice.
Overall, the app design is terrible and makes for an awful user experience. With apps like Netflix or Stan so prevalent, how on earth could you have built this app so badly? If I, a tech literate person, find this app so difficult to navigate - you will not be able to hold onto older or tech illiterate customers.
