Worst streaming app

Not worth it, videos only play for you on occasion, otherwise it tells you it’s a network issue when every other streaming service works fine lol. The service team is also non-existent, go with HBO or ANY other streaming service I promise, these guys will also overcharge you.

Captions? Forget about it!

I’ve never encountered a streaming service anywhere in the world, free or paid, that struggles so much with the concept of captions.
Even if you do get them to work, the ad breaks seem to end them. It’s actually impressive how terrible they are.

User interface

This app has constant bugs. Just to pause and play a movie/show I have to fully restart the app, once your watching your show for 5 minutes well good bye to seeing a pause skip or exit button to access that you actually have to restart your app. It could also be that this interface is not iPad optimised but never had a problem on any other streaming service. Only reason I recommend is to watch TWD

A SCAM, terrible app will NOT let you cancel subscription

They make it IMPOSSIBLE for you to cancel your subscription. There is no cancel button next to my subscription there is only change and when I try to press either of those buttons it will not work I’ve tried cancelling many days on different devices it will
NOT work and keeps charging me money. The app says if there is no cancel button it is because I’m getting billed by third party provider WHEN I AM NOT not only that there is no way to contact hubbl I cannot send emails, enquiries, call them or even message them all they do is give you a bot to talk to. I did digging and this has happened to so many other people this app is known to be a SCAM and I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE I have lost lots of money with no way to get it back to even connect hubbl the most I can do is write this big message

No parental controls

It’s not great that there is no option to set a kids rating for shows in the profile section. I don’t want my kids seeing content about serial killers while they are looking for movies about minions. Every other streaming service I have used has the ability. I think it’s something you should fix straight away,

Can’t sign in.

i CANNOT sign back into my account. i verify it, go to change my password, get redirected to the online account centre, get told to put in my password, told i “already had an account”, redirected, had to verify, tried to renew subscription, told it was the wrong password, and an everlasting loop. nothing works, for a big company you’d at least expect an interface that works.

Outstanding streaming service for the deal

It’s been about 3 years now since I’ve joined the Binge club and it’s still one of the best streaming services available that doesn’t ask for extra when you just want to watch TV show like The Walking Dead and/or Movies just like the classic First Blood. Binge is very good and puts some streaming services to shame. Binge has everything I need and for the minimal subscription, it offers a lot, and I couldn’t be more happier. 10/10 stars.

Content is fine, app is useless

The app is already difficult to use. The issues I have encountered:
- I constantly have to scroll to find shows that I am currently watching.
- app crashes constantly so when I log back in, I usually have to hunt around to find an episode I’m up too, etc
- app is completely useless if you want to cast it to your tv. I use Chromecast ahd the moment I cast it, I lose the ability to stop, pause, move 15+/-, etc.
- given how intuitive most streaming apps are these days, this one doesn’t cut the mustard.

No issues connecting to smart tv but can’t connect to chromecast. Stuck on loading screen. Have rebooted the chromecast and still doesn’t work. This has been an ongoing problem for years now.

Black screen

Stop asking for reviews constantly. When I pause the ap when watching a show, the screen goes black and there is no scrubbing line and no back arrow. So every time i have to close the ap and open it. There is also no pause or back and forth buttons.

Binge on binge nightly

I love that BInge brings my UK favorites into my Queensland Lounge room . As a UK expat it allows me to reminisce nightly and connects me to the soaps and other British programs that my friends still watch in the UK it truly feeds my soul. I also love the Aussie shows The Twelve . I have 5 streaming subscriptions and binge is the one a watch the most the only problem I have is I can’t watch Binge when I’m overseas and I travel 6 months of the year.

Great content, not so great app

I use a number of different streaming services and their respective apps, and Binge is by far the most tedious and frustrating app to use. It’s not very intuitive, but even worse, it’s buggy.
For example, almost every time I open the app to continue watching a show, the ‘next episode’ is set back a couple of episodes, sometimes even into the previous season. It doesn’t even register that I’ve watched more episodes so there’s no yellow line to help me see which one I watched last, I just have to look at the description of every episode to figure out where I’m up to.
I connect to the TV using a chromecast, so I can’t say if any of the issues I’ve experienced would happen if I was watching on my phone instead. What I can say is that I don’t have these problems with any of the other apps I use, so to me, it’s clear that the app is the issue.

Heed the warning.

I decided to renew my subscription to Binge after a long hiatus confident that it couldn’t possibly still be the same poor quality, poor content, abysmal customer service bearing platform that it was those few years ago; especially with our current cost of living crisis seeing customers wanting genuine value for money and seamless service delivery. I was horribly wrong. Embarrassingly wrong. Should you find something worth watching, the Binge app will freeze, crash, and pause content frequently. How frequently? Approximately the same frequency with which a Fiddler moves his elbow in and out. Also, be sure to factor in the generosity of Binge allowing its customers to pay for the pleasure of viewing mind-numbing, ever present ads with the basic package. This information is carefully hidden three ticks down under the package selection options and worded so perfectly that it’s easily missed! The catalogue of films available to viewers through this dismal service is largely the simplistic, has-been nonsense of decades past; the kind of content guaranteed to appeal to a sticky handed fifteen year old who possesses a sense of humour belonging firmly to the gutter. What remains you could easily find on Tubi or another free streaming service at your leisure. Similarly, any of the series based programs offered have the distinct potential to rot the human brain faster than Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. You have been warned, Possums!

Unfortunately the worst Apple TV app I’ve ever used

UPDATE: it’s 2024 and this app still forces a DISGUSTING motion blur on ALL content on this app. sorry but this is just trash.
This review is for the APPLE TV version. It’s bad, and unfortunately quite frustrating. It’s as if the Binge team needed a designer so they found someone who knows how a streaming program worked in theory, but hadn’t quite used one before. Navigation is really tough, and scrubbing through the show is not easy at all (for example, the -15 and +15 second mechanic seems to be coded in but doesn’t work at all), and once you select the right spot, it takes too many button presses to go back to the movie you’re watching. I guess there’s a chance the iPad app isn’t quite as bad of course, but I’d love some improvement on the Apple TV app please, just to bring it in line with that standardised navigation and control designs that all other streaming services all use. Thank you

Ads frequently hangs

Almost every time I watched something on Binge, my subscription is the one with ads, and there’s almost always an ad that will freeze (stopped playing), and will not continue. My internet is fine, I’ve checked it. The only way to continue to watch it is to exit the app, and resume watching. Even then, it doesn’t always solve the problem. Also there are far too many ad breaks and too long too! Prime video is much better, they still have ads but it appears only twice, and only have 2 ads each, not like Binge which has at least 5 or 6 ad breaks if not more, and 4-5 ads each break. Far too long!
And I’m laughing right now at the developers response. Clearly they missed the core message of this review. I’m not complaining about the fact that there are ads. The issue was the fact that the ad stops partway and cannot resume by itself. And also the fact that they put a lot of ads both frequency and quantity. But the main issues are the ads stopping midway and can’t resume anymore, that’s the main issue. Next time read the review properly, don’t just read what you want to read or use AI to summarise the review.

Programs freeze after a few minutes

This is a problem I’ve seen with Binge before but somehow it stopped for about a year. Now it’s back (after no changes in our setup whatsoever) and it makes watching anything on Binge an extremely frustrating experience. Once a program freezes, the only option is to come out of the program and restart it. More often than not the program restarts from where I started watching and then freezes where it froze before. I’ve deleted the app, reset the Apple TV, reset the Smart Hub on my Samsung TV, dumped the app cache, rebooted everything from full power down, checked the network connection (NBN 110MBPS) and nothing works. It’s a huge shame: the programming on Binge is excellent and they’re let down by this app which makes the service unwatchable. I’ll be suspending my service until is is fixed.
ETA: this was resolved by me buying a 4K Chromecast. I shouldn’t have to buy additional hardware - the Apple TV seems very under supported.

Horrible

The content is good but the quality of the actual app is shocking. I subscribed and paid, 40 minutes later I was logged out and asked to pay again. I tried to pay again but it wouldn’t let me so I just lost access after I paid 40 minutes before. Essentially the app couldn’t even function for more than an hour. I contacted the support team through the bot chat but they were absolutely useless and said to contact apple support team when the issue was a binge issue (I was forcefully logged out of the app which made me lose access). The helper that I received said she put me with a team that will contact me within 3-5 days. I paid today and I won’t even be able to use what I paid for until maybe 3 days minimum. However I don’t even know if they will solve this issue. Overall terrible customer service and help service, further the app can’t even work.

Impossible to actually binge shows on

For an app called binge, it really is impossible to properly binge a show without having the app crash, or constantly sign you out. Almost every time I go onto the app I’m signed out, and I never have time to save my password because of some pop up every time I need to sign in. It takes a lot of time to actually cast the show on the TV, usually we’re all trying to sign in and then spending a few minutes hoping it will cast without trouble. Also please check that the closed captions aren’t covering any translations that are already included in shows, like “speaking dothraki” over what is being said. I was asked on the app how I would rate the experience, but there was no option to actually give any feedback. I hope that this helps clarify some issues the app has that need work, to better match it to its title. Thank you for all the good films to binge on your platform!

Can’t change my phone number

I started to lose interest when told I needed a “Hubble bubble trouble” account. Turns out I had one from when I used to have the old Kayo app that didn’t work well.
I logged in, saw my phone number was wrong and then discovered I couldn’t update it in the app. I switched to my PC and changed the default from “send me all your marketing rubbish and track everything I do” to please don’t bother me with that.
I still couldn’t update my phone number so I went back to the app but now it told me my email address wasn’t valid. Now I’m writing this review just before I uninstall the app and cancel my free trial.
If signing up is this bad, can’t update my phone number and it thinks my email is now incorrect I should send my money elsewhere. I’m guessing the app is as bad as Kayo was. The difference is now I’m wiser so I’m just not going to try it out at all.

Love the content. Poor smartphone experience

I love the content on binge and watch it at home on my TV all the time. However my main issue is the iOS app. When using it the iPhone white bar the the bottom of the screen doesn’t go away like it does in other streaming apps like Stan, Netflix etc. as a result of this you have the screen of content not filling the full screen which is frustrating.
I reached out the support at the time who basically said “contact apple and ask them how to turn off the white bar as it is an iPhone component” I found this incredibly rude. I did voice this concern that the issue is the way their actual app works with the iOS software, but it was dismissed. I was using a iPhone 13 Pro Max at the time. Even since then I have upgraded to the latest iPhone 15 pro max and the issue still remains. Considering this is 2024 and you are paying for a streaming service that is supplying a sub par app, I find it incredibly frustrating and disappointing that the concern isn’t even being looked into, as this issue wasn’t always the case. Awkwardly dysfunctional

Considering this app exists purely to stream digital content it is so incredibly bad at that job. The app disconnects from your devices regularly and then forgets where you were up to in a show/movie so you have to muck around to find the place you were up to. For TV series it constantly fails to load the next episode and requires manual intervention so basically you have to manually start an episode every 20 minutes. Finally if you want to “binge” a show and watch a lot of episodes in a row it stops after a while to ask if you at I’ll watching which breaks the flow of watching the show as the app has forgotten which device it is connected to so even when you hit play again you have to hard close the app, reconnect your device. remember where you were up to in which episode and manually start it again. Horrible experience that had me very close to simply unsubscribing forever.

Great options, pretty buggy

I've had Binge for a few months now, i love its selections of shows and has a great variety that i will recommend to everyone. The only issues i've been having is bug related.
My family shares 1 account with ads. I like to watch on my phone while they use TV. The TV use is much better than a mobile device, although it can have issues remembering where you were up to if you were watching a show. Sometimes even taking you back to, say, season 1 ep 1 of an 8 season series. Trying to find where you were is pretty frustrating, especially if it does this repeatedly.
However, a mobile device has more bugs than it does on a larger device. I have found that i cannot watch anything, as it starts with a black screen and you cannot get rid of it. I had to delete and reinstall to even fix it. This has happened a few times, even still not working after deleting and reinstalling. Overall the structure of the app doesnt feel very stable and is finicky to the point where it affects your shows and its performance.
Thus i still love using binge, has a great selection and variety, just wish its bugs can get fixed 😁

Shameful service

Your app is rubbish, it’s 2024 guys, work it out and fast because it’s been like it as long as I’ve used it and reading the reviews it looks very much like you don’t care, some of your responses are border line gaslighting because you choose to partially respond with out addressing the faults. I have four kids so we have nearly every streaming service, eg Netflix, Stan, Paramount, Prime, Disney and of course Binge, why is it all the others work well and binge is glitchy, continually has to be rebooted, I mean it won’t even play on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, forget about it, I’ve tried everything, I also subscribe to Kayo when NRL is on but seriously thinking of canning Binge/Kayo as reading back through 3 years of reviews of the same type of grievances how is it possible yours is still the same yet all others run seamlessly ? Obvious you have no concerns for your customers.
I’m cancelling my subscription’s because customer service is obviously non existence because the issues remain.

Amazing app design, amazing shows.

My household decided we would cancel the Netflix subscription as it started feeling bland and had not a lot of shows that interesting us, we tried Stan but it was the same thing. We learnt about binge and decided to give it a try and the amount of shows on it impressed us. The app design is sleek and easy to learn on both phone and tablet/iPad the smart tv’s app design is a lot less responsive and takes a while to register inputs but a work around is to cast from a phone to the tv. I’ve been binging the Batman and extended universe shows and one that stood out to me was Harley Quinn it’s a funny comedy that most people hate because it’s “woke girl power trash” but it’s far from it. It is a hundred times better than the Velma show that came out a couple years back.

Poor quality viewing & useless app

There very little available to watch and all low quality. The app is entirely useless. Drops out all the time when watching. Watch until the end and it still shows them in the continue “Bingeing”. Doesn’t matter if you watch the entire show or skip to the end they still don’t disappear. Is it really that hard to have an app that works properly? Or allow users to delete them? This doesn’t happen on Netflix! *didn’t even bother to address the issue with the continue Bingeing. They are clearly aware of the apps issues, but will not fix. Stan has 2000+ titles and Netflix 5500+ my point has been proven that there’s not much to watch given Binge only has 1000. I’ll put this in terms hopefully Binge can understand this time, your content is rubbish ie low quality and a waste of life watching. As you can see from their response they’ve not addressed any issues, just falsely accused me of illegally using a VPN. I do not engage in illegal activity and live in Australia so there would be no need to use a VPN. There are also times when no matter what you try, the content won’t load to play. Not my device nor internet, as I watched something on another streaming service immediately after. Please check other reviews as mine only echoes that all I have stated happens to others. Therefore these are ongoing issues not addressed by Binge. They respond to reviews therefore are aware. Not proving a service paid for is ILLEGAL and a breach of consumer law.

Very annoying in repeat app errors

When you’ve watched continuously it asks you to *poke* to continue. Stupidly there is no poke in the app when I cast to my tv from chrome. So. I have to stop casting, close the app, reopen it & then recast & then find the episode I was watching from the episode list of any series because the app doesn’t place hold. Eg. I’m up to season 5 of Game of Thrones & it wants me to continue from S1E10. Many times there is an episode playing & the Binge app thinks there is nothing playing at all so I can’t skip intro etc. These seem like basic wants for a user of a streaming app considering the monthly fee for it, but these functions just don’t get fixed & yet, are brought up again & again in the review comments. In Australia our free stream apps operate better than this - it’s worth the ads & between the 4 apps, nearly all the tv content in binge is covered. Don’t increase your prices again until you fix basic functionality.

Please update your shows

I have subscribed to binge again praying that you get the new seasons for Chicago PD & Fire, law and order to name but a few. I cancelled my prime because they started with their nonsense of watching the 1st episodes of a new show then you have to subscribe to the network to see the rest. I’m positive that I’m not alone when I say that if you support a network you want what you pay for. If the network won’t supply to all your needs I can guarantee there will be one who does or if someone sees the demand then will provide all viewing in one place. The thing I’ve learned is people don’t mind paying for goods if they provide well. What they hate, myself included, is been held for ransom if you want to see all episodes of a program. Please update your shows. I will keep looking for a network that does or start to get a network underway that will.

Worst Streaming App on Apple TV

This is by far the clunkiest app on Apple TV. I saw someone else post the same and the developer asked to plug it in to Ethernet. Mine is and it’s still a nightmare. It lags ALL THE TIME, it’s never not lagging which makes you constantly select the wrong thing or skip past what you want. It freezes up if you pause something for too long and it always says there’s more of an episode or movie to watch even if you watched through till the end of the credits. It drives me crazy so I go back to try to watch the last parts again and it’s always around 10 minutes of play time left. Sometimes it takes 2-3 attempts to get it to register you finished the episode or movie. And the fast forward/rewind feature is completely different to any other app and again, not user friendly.
The binge list interface and menus are also not very user friendly. I’ve been struggling with this app for over two years now and it’s never gotten better.

It’s good, but not great

I’ve been using Binge for the past six months. There’s a lot of content that I used to watch on another platform, but it didn’t have a native app. So I thought that Binge would be a better option. And it is, but only just.
The app on my AppleTV is very clunky. It’s also not the most user friendly. I am constantly overshooting where I want to go on the menu, because of the lag. This especially happens when my Bingelist option is all the way over on the other side of the options from Home. So I’m having to constantly go back and forth, then wait for the lag to catch up, then if I’m verrrry careful, I can finally get there. The other thing that happens is that watched shows stay on my list of things to watch. I’ve scrolled through and let it finish again, but it remains there on my list of things to finish watching. One final thing is the inability to download so I can watch offline. It’s something that my other services all have and it’s something lacking here, especially for the price.
I’ve read some of the other reviews here and a lot of my problems with the app are things that were brought up three years ago. If these things were fixed, Binge would be great. As it stands, I’m watching less on Binge and more on my other streaming services, because they’re easier to use. As it stands, Binge is okay…but not great.

Bad app

My reasoning for this isn’t because of the app design (it plays a bit of a problem though) but rather the content. The one thing I absolutely love doing at the very end of a stressful school day is watching a couple episodes of my favourite show “Adventure Time” but when I watch any of the episodes I always notice that some violent stuff (the kinda of things that make “Adventure Time”, well, “Adventure Time”) are completely cut out but some other scenes that are arguably worse are instead actually kept in. This is so annoying, and i get that it’s so kids don’t watch the slightly disturbing favourited kids show “Adventure Time” and get scared by a couple of the scenes, but why go to the extent of cutting some parts out when you a) have already cut these “scary” scenes out and b)actually have a warning for the show in the first place. I mean, it’s called parental guidance for a reason. One solution I propose to you is that there’s a feature on the parental controls area where you can put the cut show there and leave the unedited version on the account that doesn’t have parental controls. Boom, mic drop.

Very annoying issues

The app does not save progress when I am watching a show, if I exit the app and come back the next day to continue watching, the show will not pop up in my continue watching section, if I search for the show it will take me back to the very start and doesn’t save my progress within episodes. The app also doesn’t allow me to watch on my iPad or my phone for some reason, only my tv. It gives me an error message saying that my internet connection is not well. My internet is always fine when this happens, I also am not watching on too many screens when this happens. Please fix these issues as this platform has such an amazing spread of different shows and movies, but these bugs make it incredibly annoying to operate.

Good app, stellar content

I recently had the pleasure of using this fantastic iPhone app, and I must say it strikes a great balance between UX and UI. The design boasts great responsiveness, allowing for seamless interaction and smooth functionality. Just get a better provider

Besides the fact that I’m paying to watch ads, the app has ongoing technical issues that completely disrupt and ruin the viewing experience. There are app crashes about once every couple hours. And the worst issue is the episodes restarting after ads play. Then you have to fast forward back to where you left off. If you are 1 second too early when you fast forward, you have to watch ads again only for the episode to restart so you have to try again. Then the next option is to fast forward to the next later option and you miss 10-15 seconds of what happened between the commercial and where fast forwarding left you. Now why would anyone want to pay for ads and a viewing experience like that????
Edit: now they responded pretty much saying “if you don’t want ads, pay us more money” rather than mentioning attempts to fix all of the technical issues I mentioned. I’m sorry but your technical issues will not convince me to pay you more money!

Worst of the streaming apps.

The shows are great but for what you’re paying (and for how much $ Fox has) it’s shocking how clunky and poorly designed this app is. There’s no Picture in Picture watching option, I’m constantly having to troubleshoot after pausing for a short while, the loading circle comes up wayyy too much and the interface is the clunkiest I’ve used. It’s so painful to search, nothing works smoothly and on Apple TV you can only see one row of shows at a time which is tedious. I’ve had a Binge account since it launched and it has not changed or improved the entire time it’s been in the market, please overhaul this design and maybe people will want to watch more. Also think it’s egregious that basic subscriptions now have ads.
Update in response to Binge’s lame reply:
Yes I have the latest version and even if it were true that there is a “picture in picture option in your web browser” there isn’t one in the app (hence the terrible reviews) so maybe just fix the app.

Apple TV issues still not fixed since Binge launched

Playback is fine, but guys, please fix the LONG-standing issues with the Apple TV app user interface and controls, which do not occur with the iOS and web versions:
Going back to a main menu from either a title or another main menu (eg Shows back to Home) causes a long hang every single time while it reloads
Some tiles load unbidden as hero content, filling the screen, which then cannot be escaped from. I have to restart the app. Just turn this off.
Why such a huge button during playback for restarting what I’m watching? Who would want this? Easy to scroll down and select this by accident.
App is often behind in recording the amount watched, meaning resuming sends you back 5-10 minutes or an episode isn’t recorded as completed. With a finale, this means you can’t remove it from Continue Watching.
Tapping to rewind or forward fifteen seconds isn’t sensitive enough, making it very difficult to go back a bit. If you’re going to eschew the standard Apple controls, yours need to be as good or better.
Moving between sections in the floating top nav lags terribly and then overshoots, making search a huge pain to reach.
These issues have been in place since launch. If you can afford to outbid everyone for HBO, you should be able to budget for this. Love your content but these issues are maddening.

Service now includes unskippable ads

Be warned advertising has been added to the basic paid subscription. This consisted of THREE 30 second UNSKIPPABLE ads that interrupt what you are watching without warning. If you close the video and reopen it you will still need to watch the ad. They aren’t even placed at the end of the scene they happen mid dialogue and ruin the scene. Once you have endured the three ads, if you rewind to watch the scene uninterrupted THEY PLAY THE ADS AGAIN. Completely takes me out of the experience and there is no option to rewatch the scene uninterrupted even after letting the ads play. Absolute rubbish and anti-consumer. Remove ads and I will consider continuing paying for this service. There was no reason to add these advertisements except to squeeze even more money out of their customers through ad revenue or forcing them to upgrade their subscription to a more expensive tier. No other streaming service does this. If this is not removed then I will have to seek alternatives to watch the content binge is holding hostage.

Be aware Binge & Kayo subscriptions interdependent

I pay for a standard Binge subscription (2 screens) and separate Kayo subscription (1 screen only), however I my family can only watch 2 screens across both platforms at one time. If we try to watch binge on 2 different devices and then log into Kayo on a third device, one of the devices with binge gets an error message saying the number of screens has been exceeded. Trying to refresh the devices with binge then causes the same error message on the device with Kayo. I’ve tried to contact Binge who tried to tell me I was logged into other devices - which only occurred after I encountered the problem and was trying to double check my subscription, and even if that was the case, Kayo shouldn’t have been affected because the subscriptions are independent right? Then Binge tries to tell me if I want 3 screens I need to pay more! I only want what I’m already paying for! PS to the response below - if we were already logged on via other devices then we would have got the error message when just trying to watch binge on 2 screens -but we were successfully watching on 2 screens as per subscription. Only got the error message when trying to watch Kayo on a third device. Kayo and Binge are not supposed to be dependent on each other…..

Buggy on iOS, unusable on AppleTV

Honestly I don’t understand how this company can be trusted with the exclusive rights to so many valuable TV properties when they can’t make and maintain a usable streaming platform. The same goes for their sister platform, Kayo (also running on the Streamotion engine). Menus are incredibly slow to navigate, and will randomly stop responding - forcing you to force quit the application and try to find your way back to the section you were browsing (which is also not easy). Content is often in the wrong aspect ratio, or seems to use poor quality compression schemes - as if they just took old Foxtel content encoded on decade-old tech and slapped it on the Streamotion servers hoping no one would notice.
Binge’s flagship program, Succession (loosely based on the majority owners of this tragic enterprise) contains a scene where a more innovative competitor opens the streaming app on his phone, throws it into a toilet, and urinates on the phone to show his disgust at how useless the application is. Art imitates life.

The content is GREAT, I love that there are so many old westerns and classic Hollywood films here. But omg this app is pure garbage. Who decided everything should be constant horizontal scroll? Why does the next episode continue to play even when I have that option unselected? Why does the movie title I search for not come up in the search results even though it’s still available? Why does nothing ever mark itself as “completed” and everything sits infuriatingly in my “continue watching” list? Like for god’s sake I can’t believe someone got paid to make these decisions and release the app in this state.
this is a PAID app, this sort of rubbish shouldn’t be happening.
I just tried to confirm I was still watching something and it started to play again with the “are you still there” message stuck on the screen. Trying to tell the app where I currently am, and trying to find the home page, feels impossible.
Fire whoever designed this and start again.

Love the content, hate the UI

Like I stated, the content options are pretty great and I definitely get my money’s worth. However, I’ve always hated the user interface and app theme you guys have stuck with and never changed.. I just feel like it’s really odd that the theme is a galaxy and some random woman’s face staring back at you.. just doesn’t make sense. When I toggle between movies, shows and home it would be great to see the title up the top so I know which section I’m in. I really hate you can’t select a genre anywhere, you just have to keep scrolling until you find something you want. The Home Screen really needs to become more intuitive and offer similar programs to what the user has been watching. Unfortunately this app doesn’t allow much for the user to play with. It feels very outdated compared to competitors. It needs a big overhaul and fresh coat of paint. It would definitely seem more attractive to potential customers!

No Picture in Picture Option

I can see the same review is left repeatedly so I don’t understand why this hasn’t been fixed already. I have four other streaming apps and Binge is the only one that doesn’t offer Picture in Picture.
Binge has almost all of the shows I love that are spread out on the four other apps. I’d probably default to using Binge for almost everything and drop some of the other apps if they had the Picture in Picture feature. I live alone so I like to put a show on my phone while Im cooking dinner and reading a recipe on my phone, or texting a friend or playing a game on my phone while outside 🚬. But I can’t do any of this without stopping my show and getting out of the Binge app.
It is single handedly the worst thing about the app so I’m surprised they haven’t installed this feature. I only keep Binge for GOT and HOTD as it’s exclusive to Binge in Aus. If those were offered on other channels.. I would end my subscription. Definitely missing the mark with Gen Z by not offering this feature.

Good but bad

I would give this app 3.4 if I could because absolutely amazing content choices but the only thing is the app. Some shows it isn’t the best of quality but most of them are good. Another thing is that
when you want to go full screen but your phone/iPad/other is on vertical it does really let you to go full screen it‘s just the screen at the top of your device and then information down the bottom (which pretty much is 3/4 of your screen) Another reason I gave this a 3 is because when you want to go out of the app but still watch while you do something it doesnt let you. I get very annoyed by this so please add that in! But overall VERY good app! I would recommend it but those are just some things I would like Binge to work on:) (I’m so bad at wording this sorry)

Price increase and ?customer service?

Price increase again. Hmm it’s getting pricey.
Content is good but app has trouble synching ‘continue watching’ - often will ‘continue’ several episodes earlier than last watched, so go to ‘show all eps’ and scroll down to find last (actually) watched.
I hope some of the extra subscription fees goes into customer service. Reading through other APP reviews WITH responses, they are generic at best, to WT??? (Eg customer states ‘last 8 months’ and the reply says ‘we had some issues LAST SUNDAY’!! Now that’s an embarrassing reply/shows ‘autopilot mode’ customer service 😳). Relevance??How does last Sunday explain the prior 7mths:3weeks?
Please READ and reply like you care BINGE* team (*management allow your team to use initiative, if this robot mode comes from your level. Spend some of the extra subscription fees on this team)
I personally have contacted customer support multiple times (two separate issues) by email & phone and have received different answers (to the same question) so I have found dealing with the customer service team/binge frustrating. Eg the ‘season return date’ answer should be (a) easier to see for ourselves (b) be a consistent answer for staff to advise

Great shows, shocking app!

Shows are good which is the only reason I am keeping binge, for now. But the app is horrendous. Freezes all the time, sometimes with the picture and the sound continues and you have to exit and restart, other times just with the spinning loading logo and then you have to exit and restart anyways. Internet can never connect and I have tried it on 5G, 4G, or sitting directly next to my wifi. I have paramount, disney, Netflix, Stan, prime and have zero issues with any of those apps. Only binge. Can’t pre- download and watch shows later so forget trying to watch it on a train on your way to work, on a plane, or anywhere that doesn’t have the highest speed Wi-Fi you can imagine, and even then that doesn’t seem to be sufficient. And You can’t watch it on your phone or tablet and then continue using your phone/ tablet e.g to check a message or whatever which again I can do with literally every other app. So far behind in the game it’s ridiculous!

FIX UR APP 4 REAL 😞😭😭

As stated in previous reviews, the content you guys have is decent, it features a lot of shows especially within Australia we are unable to get on Netflix etc. Although you could highly improve the availability of all seasons within a show, Chicago PD for example features seasons 3,7,8 & 9, this is good but this makes customers have to buy multiple streaming services ( not yours ) to get the content of all seasons. More so the app needs significant improvements, it’s always loading, or bugging out, not showing captions, loading episodes, taking ages to load episodes, like a solid 20 minutes and then getting an episode for about 3 seconds for it to freeze again. I’ve tried on my phone, my boyfriends phone, we’ve even upgraded to newer phones, ps5, different TVs and even switched plans from SD to the HD and vice versa and these problems are STILL OCCURING. For real some major fixes needed to be put in for this app to receive anymore then 2 starts, your content is the only thing that makes it worth buying.

Not a great app

Content is good. App needs work.
It rarely remembers what show you’ve been watching, let alone what episode or how far through that episode you were. So constantly have to search for the show and go through multiple episodes to figure out where you were up to.
There is no other option then auto play. Even after movies. So it will automatically start playing whatever it feels like after you’ve finished watching something. So likely skewing the algorithm of the type of things you like to watch. I tend to watch things to help me sleep, I wake up with random movies on my “continue bingeing” list that I don’t care for and can’t easily remove.
I have an LG smart TVs but binge doesn’t have an agreement / app in place with them so I have to cast from another device to watch on tv. If I’m casting, binge counts this as 2 devices which is the account limit…frustrating when really you are only using one device.

Kicked off app mid stream

Like others have said, the content is fantastic and sure beats the exorbitant fees I was paying to Foxtel (and then forced to upgrade at additional cost because they were switching off the IQ2 service!) I have noticed some of the bugs mentioned in reviews here have been fixed for example I can resume mid show with a progress bar telling me what I’ve watched and the next episode autoplays.
BUT my gripe is that when my total streams are being used and someone else tries to log in, the existing viewers are booted off their show. If maximum streams are reached then how can a new viewer even begin streaming? It is incredibly annoying to have your show stop mid episode and have to wait 5 minutes for the app to realise the other viewer has also now logged out and let you resume. If max streams are reached a new viewer should be blocked from beginning the show in the first place. And it didn’t just boot one viewer off - all other viewers were booted!
Please fix this.

Needs improvement

The player is good but the app doesn’t mark the point which has been watched up to accurately and consistently. When watching a series it doesn’t record all the episodes that have been watched so you have to remember and then skip through to the right place if you didn’t finish one... pretty lame. Browsing experience is entirely scroll carousels too which feels very restricted as sections can’t be opened up, makes it not ideal for finding things to watch.
Update - developer response is a blatant lie, this issue has nothing to do with closing the app, it happens when exiting out of a stream while in the app. There are numerous other reviews highlighting this flaw in the app, the developers are completely aware but just don’t fix it. They know they don’t have to produce a competitive product because people will subscribe and put up with the garbage app because Binge is part of the Foxtel monopoly over exclusive content.

Great app

It is a great app, I have been using this streaming service for a while now and it is great! There are shows on here that I can’t get in other streaming services. The only thing that I can say that is a minus which is why I said 4 stars instead of 5 is that while I’m watching a show or movie is that if I get out of the app I can’t keep watching on a smaller section on my screen like Netflix or Stan. So if I am watching something on either of those apps I can get out of it and still continue to watch the show while I scroll through Facebook or anything else, but if I am on binge if I quickly want to check something else like Facebook or whatever the show/movie pauses and I have to go back into the app. That is the only issue I have. Other that that the app and platform is great!

Decent content, awful app

If I could give this app 2.5 stars I would, because it’s really a 50/50 for me. There is lots of identical content on Binge that I was paying twice the price for on Foxtel Go, but the interface is painful. If you even look at the app the wrong way it logs you out. On good days, you can pick up where you left off on a series on the homepage, on a bad day, you will have to search for the show you were watching, being logged out repeatedly at every step, then scroll through all the episodes reading the synopses (because no progress bars appear to indicate a show has been watched).
The app hates pausing, but also fast forward and rewind, so picking up where you left off is a nightmare. I can’t tell you how many times I have just had to settle for watching a huge chunk of shows over again.
I will press on for the time being, but if the problems persist because as I said, the content is decent, but unless things improve, I will probably give up.

Difficult app to use.

I enjoy the great selection binge has to offer for youngsters and also the classics for mature viewers. I think the price is fair. The only downfall which is a daily struggle for my family is when connected to Chrome-cast via iPhone I can’t seem to auto play TV episodes. When I’m very busy, I put binge on for my daughter. It’s extremely frustrating when the shows episodes are only approx 9 minutes long and it won’t automatically play the next episode. So every 9 minutes I must stop my work, unlock my device, reconnect to chrome cast, search for the episode and press play, knowing in under 10 minutes time I’ll have to do the same thing all over again. It may not be a big deal to some but to me it’s the difference between rating 2 stars instead of 5 stars. Auto play next episode would make my life easier and allow me to do my work and manage my time more efficiently. Please fix this app to allow auto play then I will Happily give you a five star review .

Poor usability

Between episodes the binge app will stop casting to my tv and won’t reconnect. I’ve talked to the binge tech guys via live chat who confirm this shouldn’t happen and to delete the app and re-download it. This works but means I’m deleting and reinstalling at least twice per evening. It happens every second or third episode. This has nothing to do with my tv or chrome cast as Netflix and Stan have never had this issue. It’s incredibly frustrating. Further to that, the binge app doesn’t remember where I left off on the last episode so I have to write down what I was up to and keep track myself. Also the app doesn’t have continuous play.. so each episode I need to get my phone to select the next episode which I find very ironic for an app called binge that I can’t actually binge. There’s a good selection of old favorites which is why I am putting up with the headache, but likely will not continue after my free trial. I don’t recommend at all.. plenty of other options for streaming entertainment

App needs an update!

App needs to be fixed. Biggest bugs i have found is it does not autoplay next episode, always need to go in to the app, which has disconnected from the chromecast so i have to reconnect it by shutting app down, reopening and then reconnecting AND then choosing the next episode of what i was watching. The other main bug i have is it will come up with a “you’re exceeding the number of screens available to your subscription” error. I have the highest tier subscription so this should not be a problem and it’s only myself and partner using the app.
I have sent an email to their support with this problem and received a reply saying it was sorted I shouldn’t have a problem anymore... well I don’t know if anything had actually happened because I certainly get the exact same problem. I believe it’s the app more than anything but surely with so many of the same faults in some many of the reviews i have read so far they should have fixed it by now!
Edit: Despite being told the “too many screens being streamed on” problem is fixed, it still occurs. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it to make sure I have the latest version and there is still no further update. Also, the fact it still doesn’t autoplay the next episode in a series through chromcast is just terrible and needs to be fixed fast!

This app is so painful to use!

The layout of this app is very clumsy. It feels like the sections don’t fit my screen properly. It’s like it’s all magnified and I have to scroll to find things (like episodes) when I would prefer to see them at a glance. Like when checking the ‘binge list’, it took me a while to figure out where all the shows were because you can only see one massive one when you enter that tab so I tried scrolling left and right like you do on the big banner shows in the home screen.
The view when watching a show is also ridiculously small. Why does the description of the show take up 3/4 of the screen??
I also kept losing my place when casting to my tv. I would pause and come back and the episode would begin again. The same has happened in regards to my progress with the episodes. It says I’m half way through episode 3 and I’m actually up to 5. I allowed it to play before pausing and disconnecting and it still didn’t work.
There NEEDS to be subtitles - I’m baffled that there aren’t any.

Great shows but major bugs they need to fix urgently!!!!!

Firstly great shows and movies, which are the only positive points about this app. I have had to cancel my first subscription because via the Apple subscription I can only access Binge with 2 screens, as I was constantly getting an error message saying I’ve hit my limit on the number of screens. So I re-subscribed online under my wife’s details so I could get 4 screens. After a week I am now getting the same error message saying that I’ve reached my limit on the number of screens, and I am no where near watching Binge on 4 screens. The only help I can get is sending them an email with no contact phone numbers to call anyone. Knowing this is all under Telstra I’m not surprised that the customer service will be rubbish. Ridiculous now considering I’m paying $18 a month to not able to watch anything on binge because the development of this app and service is rubbish.

Buggy and error prone

If I was paying for the content, I’d be pretty frustrated at how buggy the app is, but since I’m getting the content free via Telstra, I’m pretty meh. The content is fairly standard fare with Foxtel content galore. Its definitely not the be all and end all and I definitely wont be ditching the other streaming apps, but its OK I guess. Not as good as it’s hyped up to be, thats for sure. Maybe if it had more than one or two seasons of the shows I watch (particularly for those with 9, 10, 15 seasons) I’d be happier. Overall, not a great app, fairly bland content and its still Murdoch owned so...
Edit: you know, telling people to ‘log out’ to fix the Oops too many streams error is ridiculous. I get the same error and there is NO ONE sharing my account or passwords. Not. One. Soul. Instead of giving the cookie cutter response, why don’t you actually FIX the issue? I tried watching a movie, 3 minutes in the error happens. Restart, 1 minute error, log out/log in barely 30 seconds error. Fix the error. Please.

Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.

It is exceedingly obvious that the head honchos at Binge decided to try and capitalise on the covid quarantine market by launching Binge in a rush.
In doing so they failed to beta test the Binge app and address any bugs or issues within the software.
The issues and lack of features make this a lousy competitor to other streaming services available.
Netflix offers 4 devices for $20. Binge offers 4 devices for $18. Yet they do not offer closed captions (when you have a deaf child, this is vital to ensure she feels included in movie night), there is no available app for smart tv’s and to use it with chromecast you will find it is temperamental and will frequently see error load messages which will no doubt cause many to cancel their subscriptions. I am one of those. While I had high hopes for Binge they have sadly put quick revenue before quality which in the long run will cost them more in customer sign ups than if they had waited and launched a quality product and worthy competitor to current streaming services.
I never thought I’d say that even Stan frustrates me less...

Horrible streaming service

I was able to watch a show for 5 mins before it tells me that I’ve reached the max number of screens when I’m the only one that has access to the account. Emailed customer service they told me it’s cause of my Chromecast is old it’s 2nd gen and I have a 3rd gen in another room and told me to watch it on my phone then my phone was showing the same message. Why would I wanna watch it on my phone in the first place? What’s the point of this streaming service if I have to watch it on my phone not that it works anyway.
This app is poorly designed and customer service just blames it on you rather than trying to fix the bug. After the reading the reviews I’m not the only one with streaming issues. They told me to reset my password turn off my Chromecast turn off my phone then another customer service told me the same thing I’ve been doing that for 2 days and they keep telling me to do the same thing over and over Everytime I emailed customer service. Never had any issues with Netflix,Stan, and Hayu. I wouldn’t recommend this app.

Constant issues

Have had plenty of issues with this platform since it started. The main one is every 1-5 minutes I get a message saying that the maximum number of streams for my subscription has been reached. This makes no sense as I haven’t given anyone else access or used it on a different device. I even changed the password in case someone has been logging in with my information (don’t see how they could be) and the pop up came up straight after, so it’s clearly some issue from the Binge side.
I was using the app today and it was working fine, got the pop up as always so I closed the app and reopened it. Now it’s not even opening properly. Everytime I open it it just stays on the first binge screen without the possibility to press anything. There was an available update for the app so I updated it and the problem consisted. Constant struggle to actually just watch the content, let alone enjoy the funcion of the app. The actual library of movies and tv shows is good but at the end of the day it’s not worth it when other streaming platforms have as much content with far better capabilities.

Good content but simply HORRIBLE app

I concur with the majority of other frustrated users leaving poor reviews. The app is terrible. Absolutely terrible. Have been using Binge since launch and watching content on my iPad, iphone, PC Browser, AndroidTV, Chromecast to my TV. Problems are universal. It’s just a terribly built platform.
I can’t get S1E2 of a new show to play on ANY platform yet all other episodes play. Have deleted the app, reset devices, updated firmware and can’t get any response from Binge Tech support who have extremely limited office hours. Clearly the problem is on their end with the episode itself. They use a pathetic chatbot to troubleshoot then eventually tell you no one is available. No response from multiple attempts for help. Eventually had to miss the episode and try to figure out what I missed in the working episodes. PAAAATHETIC!!!
Foxtel have had a streaming app for years - well before so many others. How on earth have they dropped the ball so badly with Binge? Will be cancelling soon and won’t try again for another year because it will take them that long or more to rebuild the app or plug the problems to death before its fit for purpose. If they’re still in business by then.

In love

Despite the very harsh and very negative reviews I have read, this app has made a very outstanding difference to its competitors! I’m in love with the easy access and many useful features such as being able to view seasons, episodes and entirely different shows all whilst still being able to view the show that is being streamed! Although many improvements can be made such as the content view, allowing us only to see the most desirable shows, it is clear that this app sets itself away from others by allowing us to view mainstream or lower levelled shows that they may not.
I’m seriously in love and really supporting this app through its stages of improvement hopefully however I still enjoy being able to figure out and utilise its many unique features!
Smaller things are quite bugging though such as an error telling me that I’m reaching maximum streaming limit when I have access to only two streams and I haven’t handed out a spare account or mentioned to anyways that I have subscribed to Binge. Pretty frustrating having to close the application to reopen it and continue streaming every 15 minutes
