DECKEE is the free boating assistant that keeps you safe and informed on the water. Get on-water location sharing, an automated logbook, marine weather, heatmap guidance, safety alerts and more, so you can explore the waterways with confidence!

• On-water location sharing – DECKEE automatically detects when you are on the water, and will magically do things you often forget to do, like letting your Safety Contacts know where you are, and automatically logging your boating activities.

• See who’s on the water – Spot other DECKEE members on waterways around the world and look out for each other. Now everyone can be visible on the water, not just the vessels with AIS equipment.

• Risk forecast for your watercraft – Have you ever tried to work out what the weather forecast means for your boat? It’s not easy! The DECKEE risk forecast takes into account a variety of weather data factors and combines it with your boat length to assess the risk and make your decision to go boating easier.

• Automated logbook – DECKEE automatically logs your activity on the water for you so you never forget. In your logbook you can see your activity stats, learn from your past trips, improve your decision-making, and reflect on your favourite experiences.

• Local knowledge heatmaps – DECKEE Heatmaps help you see what pathways and routes other boaters follow, so you feel confident to discover new places, find those quiet spots to relax, and other insights to plan a fun day on the water.

Feature Request

For the Western Australian Users

Add a 400 meter buffer around Rottnest island and the Western Australian coastline to signify the crossover point between protected and unprotected waters. Ideally this would be done in the same fashion as the 8 knot speed area along the WA coast

Was Good But Nagging PopUps Ruined It - Update Fixed.

Was a great app but the recent update to include detecting if you are on the water and the app not turned on is great function, but the downside is that I am constantly bombarded every several minutes to set my background location on. My privacy is important and letting apps track and monitor location in the background is not a good thing - lets remember google analytics. I chose to allow location only when using the app but the continual bombarding of pop up’s telling me to set my background location to always is annoying and that’s being polite. Your app went from useful to nagging in one update. Please take this onboard and change the software to not force the background location and stop nagging. I understand the purpose of the location to detect if I’m on the water but I don’t want it, don’t want the popups and nagging.

Update on July 2023.

That little annoying bug has been fixed. Thanks to the Devs for doing that so quickly.

The new location feature, I think, should be optional as it requires both always on location setting plus background refresh.

This will chomp through a battery much more quickly as well as spooking a while range of people :)

Best app for boating and fishing I have ever seen.

This is a must have app if you are into any activity on the water , it has so many features that I use for not only boating and fishing but also for work and when planning trips to new regions . These are always being improved and new features are constantly being added .

Needs simplified Log in

As we know batteries can go flat, then we need to recharge and log in again. My big concern is to sign in you need to go to an email, which is good if you have cell or wifi. To be able to log in using a password, finger print or facial recognition system would make life easier and safer when out of cell/wifi coverage.

I’ve used Deckee for a number of years now. It’s an awesome app with all your boating needs in one place, trip logging is handy, weather and safety data is great.

Can't figure it out

Forces you to login and forces you to run the app in the background always. Can't figure out how to measure distances as you cannot pull to adjust the from and to points. Can't add markers for planning without making them public. Trying to plan to an existing marker doesn't work. UI is unfathomable re planning. The Go feature recording a trip seems to work.

Useless in Darwin

This app uses mapbox images, unfortunately Darwin is covered in cloud so can't use it here and no option to switch chart service.

Pro Charts, C-Map and GPS tracks all provide better functionality and with offline capability (Deckee is actually just a web app)

Warning data scam

This app follows everything you do, everywhere. Trying to delete it is impossible, it lingers on in the background stealing your data. Even when the app has been deleted from the Home Screen it remains in settings. Watch out folks.

Just what I was looking for…

New to boating and looks like I’ve hit gold. Allows me to plan my day out on the water- the weather, tide and my course. Also let’s me explore new adventures from the comfort of my lounge room.

Only thing that might be missing is the sunrise/sunset time and the ability to plot a course in advance (though that could take the fun out of things!)

Boat ramps

Not all boat ramps are shown. For example, Dolphin Rd (West Busselton) & Old Dunsborough boat ramps are shown but Quindalup & Siesta Park are not.

A really good app but some tweaks are needed.

For example there is no water shown (in blue) in the Wilson inlet in Denmark WA.......this makes the app pretty well useless for users in that area.

However other surrounding areas are great!

Very good app

The app has a lot of information and saves having to look in 10 different places to find it. Would be great to see a whole week worth of wind, tide, swell etc even if you have to turn it landscape to see it.

Marine Park and No Fishing Zones??

I uploaded this app and the first thing I did was to check all the Marine Park and No Fishing zones at the Abrolhos lslands.

They are not on your app!

You’ve got aquaculture zones but not the zones I’ve mentioned which are on the Fisheries WA website!

It would be pretty handy if you had these zones on your app so that fishers knew where not to fish!

Wilson Inlet, one of the biggest in the southwest (Denmark WA) appears as “land” in “terrain”...

What’s more, when I tap on icons within it such as a “fishing” symbol (I saw in satellite view), it has some weird statements like “creepy.retraining” listed?? Weird. And somewhat off putting... Needs work. Has potential...

WA focus

Overall the app is great but as it’s just had a local collaboration release with DoT in WA I thought the local mapping would be fine tuned. Rottnest moorings are not included and various yacht clubs on the river are either not properly marked or inaccurately located.

Brilliant!

I have such high praise for this app! It is very well put together with a good design and great info. As far as I can see, the weather data matches BOM to a tee, which I find very important. Well done!

One thing I rely on greatly is ‘Feels like,’ as 24°C can sometimes feel like, for example, 17°C and other times like 29°C. The app shows the current ‘Feels like’ temperature alongside the current actual temperature, which is great. I would love to see the ‘Feels like’ temperature on the same chart as the actual Temperature throughout the day. That way, we could pan the chart left and right to see whether the morning, afternoon and evening are going to be on the cooler or warmer side of the actual temperature.

Overall, you’ve created a wonderful. Very impressed ☺️

I love this clever app for boating in Australia. Particularly the feature where you can go from charts to satellite images.

Shows all the local points of interest like mooring buoys, marines VMR etc.

Good local knowledge

More useful than the static chart plotter info. It makes it easier to find things and get local knowledge on the map when you sail into a new place. Can't see the AIS boat data?
