Bar of a lifetime

We wait until we get older to have the finer things in life!

But I am going to make sure that all of my children get one of the Bose sound bars for their tvs so they can experience this earlier in life!

The 700 sound bar was easy to set up, looks great on the cabinet and under the TV.

The sound is fantastic and makes the movies and general tv sound fantastic.

Bose head phones for traveling 700 sound bar for relaxing and enjoying the media in the home.

Love it cant wait to get the base woofer and the surround speakers too!

Setup of Bose Music

I found this was not easy.

I used Apple login for the setup.

The Bose Music App immediately accepted my request ‘using face recognition’ and set up the Account. There were no other password options.

My Phone and SB 700 connected via Bluetooth OK, the App recognised the but SB but would not Add it to my Account.

I received the message ‘Oops something went wrong’ - over and over with no reason why this was happening.

Of course I could not setup the Bass 700 or surround speakers either.

I contacted Bose Support who put me onto JustAnswer.

With the SB directly connected to the internet via Ethernet a flash appeared across the screen which finally gave me a clue as to what could be going wrong.

‘Password issue’. So I guessed it was something to do with the face recognition setup.

I then deleted the App and started again with a different email address using a typed password and from then on had no problems.

I feel that for the high cost of these products your initialisation software should be improved with the appropriate error codes that even appear on a wireless connection. Or if Ethernet is required initially then the instructions should say so.

Terrific and easy

Just got a Bose 500. Can control it from an armchair switching between music, radio shows and pod casts. Excellent range of music and radio and great device to reproduce great sound.

Really disappointed

I was so excited to receive the Bose Home Speaker 500 for my birthday but all I want to do is throw it out the window!

My husband and I spent 2-3hrs on my birthday trying to get it work with my iPhone with no success.

Left it for a week to come back and try again, going through all the motions, and online tips and tricks, with no change in outcome.

Bose, you’ve really me down. For a brand that I admired for quality and tech, your failure to have zero usability is so disappointing and a failure on your part.

I will be returning my present and replacing it with Bang & Olufsen.

Stop connecting since update

Ever since last update the app has not been able to communicate with my Noise Cancelling 700 headphones. Whenever I try to “Add Product” the app tells me something is wrong while trying to initiate the connection with my product (in another langurs so this might not be exact words). Please look into this when you guys have a chance. Thank you!

Worst Bose product out there

Purchased Bose 500 soundbar and not only is it a tinny overpriced POS, the app used to set it up lags, drops or doesn’t read the connected product. Bose has gone downhill fast since Appl took over but I’m hardly surprised. Never ever again

Useless App!! How long does it take to get this fixed??

Downloaded the app after purchasing the Bose Home Speaker 500. Worked fine for about 2 weeks then it wouldn’t (and still can’t) connect to the Bose speaker. Just says ‘Not Available’, even though I have a stand-alone Bluetooth connection in use from my iPads and other devices. I’ve deleted the app and re-installed it, switched off the speaker, unplugged it and powered it up again but still ‘Not Available’. No presets working now either after programming them as well. Sorry Bose, but this app is completely useless! ps. The speaker btw is brilliant!! 🤬🤬😂😂

Very disappointed in Bose, quality of product is good, not great, but the app is awful. Shows a lot of promise but obviously it’s still got bugs. It can find the headphones, but just keeps saying Oops Something went wrong. Frustrating at best and poor for a premium headphone.

Not user friendly

This is an ordinary app. Last week I set up my new headphones with the app. Now the app doesn’t recognise the headphones. So I go through Bluetooth and the headphones are working with my iPhone. Based on this I see no use for the app. Completely useless

Bluetooth issues with NC700

Long time QC25 user, and since I loved that product now upgraded to NC700 headphones a few weeks ago.

I thought Bose would have had plenty of time to work out any bluetooth bugs to be able to safely commit to this product.

Apparently that’s not the case and definitely not what I expected from a top of the line, premium product; very, very disappointed.

I'm trying to use the headphones (latest firmware) with my MacBook Pro and IPhone XS both connected, so I can listen to music while working and also take and initiate calls on the phone as required.

The phone connects to the headphones using 2 BT profiles simultaneously, one plain BT and one BLE.

When I have the phone as well as the Mac connected to the headphones and listening to music from the Mac, the music cuts out every minute or so for half a second. With the same setup when the audio is streaming from the IPhone there are no cutouts.

To try and remediate this, I removed the BLE profile from the phone (only left the normal BT connection) and that got rid of this issue, but then the Bose Music app could no longer connect to the headphones at all, which was a step back from it’s already poor default state when it was only able to connect intermittently.

Also, why not allow the user to switch the BT source from the headphone directly when there are two devices connected?

Forcing the user to open an app that can’t even connect to the headphones or takes a few attempts at best and try changing it in there is very poor design.

If you can't remediate this with a firmware update by repurposing the useless assistant button or making it programmable, at least create a simple menubar app for the Mac to allow the user to control the headphones from there easily.

Never actually wrote an app review before but the issues with this headphone are so infuriating for the price, I sincerely hope the product owners will take notice and get to fixing these ASAP.

Buggy

So I spent the GDP of a small nation on a Bose sound bar 700. Sounds great, but can I get the voice assistant connected? Nah! Why? Because I need to have a stupid Bose music account set up and I can’t reset my password because of error code:500. Lame. Bose make some nice physical products, but this app lets them down.

Love the simplicity and function control.

Connection to products was frustrating and failed, so had to use a work around by connecting my phone to the Bose product wifi, entering 192.0.2.1 in the browser, then accessing our home wifi. Once I did that, the app recognised the products. This was only possible because I googled the workaround and was not supplied by Bose in the box or on the app help. Some help should be available for this kind of connection fail for those people who can’t find the google workaround. When you spend so much money you want to come home and have it work!

Also, we bought the Bose wifi home speaker system so we could use it with our google home hub. However, they won’t talk to each other, so now we have two separate google assistant systems. One with the Bose speaker group and one with the google speaker group. Please connect these.

Of course the sound is superb and the app is easy to use once everything is connected. So, apart from connection issues and google incompatibility, I absolutely love this system and app. Definitely recommend it. Would buy it again and will probably buy more speakers to add to our home speaker wifi system. Way better than Bluetooth that can only connect two devices. This is amazing.

FINALLY AN EQ on NC700s

So after promising for over a year, we FINALLY have an EQ to tinker with while using the NC700 headphones. Thank you!! And so far I like to be able to add more bass or treble to my music to how *I* like it, not how Bose thinks I should like it...

One improvement I would like to see on the EQ is to please have sliders for each corresponding adjustment we want to do. Having to press + or - constantly is not very user-friendly. Or have a “Pro” mode so people who want to fine tune the EQ even further can use sliders to get a profile they like.

So far I see no way to adjust the audio profile while being wired in. Can this be done? If so, would like to see that option too.

Good step Bose. Now improve the interface and choices for the EQ and you’ll make all your users even happier. ✌🏽

Bose 500 surround sound

The sound coming out of a very neat and compact system is simply amazing.

The Bose 500 is almost invisible under the Sony 65” TV especially with the woofer hidden under a corner table and the rear speakers being wireless.

Highly recommended, just spend the little extra cash.

Great Product

I really love the Bose Soundbar 700 and although the music could be more customisable it works for me.

One thing I would like is for the app to add landscape mode. Using a wall mounted iPad mini for home automation this is the only app I use that does not orientate in landscape mode.

Shocking app

Love the Bose product but app just does not connect - I can connect on Bluetooth but the app still cannot see my device!!! Infuriating!! Help does not help either. Going round in circles with it!! Very poor!!

This app is so bad and horrible to use, its constantly loosing connection with my headphones. And its used to switch the headphones between devices, which is incredibly buggy. 90% of the time Its faster and less rage inducing to use the cord and plug into the computer and ipad respectively using bluetooth only for the phone.

Cannot get the app to connect to my headphones- would love to switch some options up, but can’t. Have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, re-pairing, resetting, renaming and a half dozen other things. Have waited to see if 13.4 and this app’s update would fix before reviewing, but it hasn’t.

Great app, minor annoyance

I’ve used Bose products for many years and this app is great. One grievance I have when changing Bluetooth connections is that the voiceover interrupts the listening experience. I appreciate this is necessary however it seems to me there is an opportunity within the app to rename devices to a more friendly and potentially less lengthy name.

Wow. This is a joke. Headphones try to update, takes half an hour each time. At the end it says update failed, will try again.

I bought these headphones this week and was blown away by the sound signature and noise cancelling... that where it ended. For a pair of $500+ headphones, I’d expect the app that gives the headphones their functionality to work seamlessly. I tried multiple times with multiple devices and had no luck after initial setup.

It’s a horrible app with no end user customisation.

I recently spent way to much on a pair of headphones that aren’t customisable at all thanks to the app. The design of the app is quite nice but there’s very limited customisation. For instance with the voice prompts it announces the time left of battery not the percentage which is really annoying since its such a basic thing. And another thing is a lack of E.Q I’m currently not quite happy with the sound signature it’s 80% there but have an E.Q would fix that. Also I which there was more options for the noise canceling button and voice assistant button. Over all for spending $600 I’m not very happy with the overall experience. The hardware is good but for me personally the software just lets it down for me. Considering I can get all of the software features that’s the Bose 700’s are lacking for a 2/3 of the price I can get those features.
