Best version of the game

After they deleted treasure hunter, deleted the predatory gambling duel arena and added new content, this version of the game has potential. Unlike "oldschool" this version is not limited by any nostalgia factor and is going full steam ahead with new bosses, new integrity roadmaps, dungeons, gear, combat updates, all while maintaining the free market economy supported by old nostalgic event rares that we remember. Rs3 pushes their engine to the limits and lets people experience the full modern potential. Unlike osrs, this version has very little bots, an extremely helpful non-toxic community, and a positive playing atmosphere. The only microtransactions available are membership and bonus stars, and this version of the game is run by people that know what they're doing. Highly recommend

I wanted to get into this game but I have to use the touch screen like some caveman. 2024 and controller support does not exist. Why even make this for the iPad if you’re not supporting how people prefer to play.

No support at all!

After years of dedicated gameplay, I am deeply disappointed with Jagex’s recent changes to their two-factor authentication system. The previous system functioned flawlessly for me, but the new implementation led to my account being compromised on the same day it was introduced. Despite promptly submitting a support request with comprehensive evidence, including all necessary data and bank account information, I have yet to receive a response from Jagex. This lack of support is disheartening, especially considering the time and effort invested in my nearly maxed account, which holds significant value due to its age and unique username.

The apparent prioritization of well-known players and content creators over the broader player base is concerning. As an ordinary player, I feel neglected and undervalued. The absence of timely assistance has left me uncertain about the status of my account, and I fear it may have been banned due to unauthorized access. This experience has severely diminished my trust in Jagex’s commitment to its community.

If this issue remains unresolved, I see no reason to return to the game or recommend it to others. The lack of adequate support for loyal players undermines the enjoyment and dedication that the game once inspired. I urge Jagex to address these support shortcomings to prevent further alienation of their player base. My player name was Amidodo

Mouse doesn’t work with iPad

Not bad, but my Bluetooth mouse doesn’t work with the app. I can see the mouse cursor on screen but clicking doesn’t work, you need to touch the touchscreen. Wish it was compatible with a mouse!

This game is great

I love this game but it makes me mad to see all the negative reviews, there is a $16aud a month subscription but that’s like many games these days or you can buy a yearly one that works out to be around 25cents a day the whole argument of your money is better spent on old school RuneScape is quite silly because if you buy the subscription in one game you get it in the other.

There is a few micro transactions apart from the subscription such as premium cosmetics or items to progress faster but you can’t buy them unless your over 18 so people should be mature enough to handle their own money, the other negative reviews is just hardware issues I love RuneScape so much every second not on RuneScape is wasted and I think everyone should give it a go you literally get to play for free to see if you like it before unlocking the whole game through the subscription.

Crash issue in 2024.. Really?

Years and still no proper optimisation.

UI clunky/slow at times, it’s been years and I’m still getting random app crashes although I’ve cleared cache, reinstalled the game, played on or off low power mode, low graphical settings, performance mode or balanced, full charge or low charge.. my iPhone 14 Pro Max is exceptional with every game, OSRS is flawless, PUBG and COD-M on Ultra/High 60fps+, the moment I play this I can’t enjoy it longer than 5-20 minutes before it continuously crashes

Chat is sooo cumbersome to use!

Typing a message out in the chat usually results in horribly incorrect messages as it keeps deleting and replacing characters as you type them. I know this is an issue for other mobile users as when they are using chat they have the exact same issues. The game is just fine otherwise, a very decent mobile port.

I’ve been playing for years and the recent MTX is becoming out of control.

First you pay $16+ a month for membership or else you have access to 10% of the game, then you’re spammed with buying MTX whether it’s loot box’s called Treasure Hunter or the new Hero Pass. Don’t bother wasting your time and money unless it’s for Old School RuneScape..

Not sure if it’s on my end or not.

I’ve been gaming quiet often but now and then I go to log on and just keep saying error check connection and so I refresh my router and disconnect and reconnect still same thing but internet is working fine with everything else YouTube ect… so not internet I even tried wifi off and used mobie internet still same thing ,internet works for everything else but RuneScape weird also checked for updates there’s no updates needed so no idea what this issue is I’m using iPhone 11 to play and this normally resolves itself but not for a couple of hours so if any developers can figure this out would be great thanks

Lagging & Almost Unplayable

The current mobile version of this game is unplayable from the excessive lag. The whole screen freezes for 20 seconds at a time. This is despite the graphics settings being turned right down to the lowest settings. Previous mobile versions of this game did not behave like this. Unplayable at times

I’m not sure if it’s my internet or iPad getting warm but after playing for half an hour the app will close, logging me out. For example if I move around or do anything in particular it will crash log me out continuously making it unplayable and difficult to do stuff.

Impossible to play on largest iPhone 6.7”

I’m not sure what you have done with scaling, but a lot of the ui text and images and boxes are virtually impossible to read or interact with due to been so small. Need magnifying glass to read. Horrible experience, what a shame, to lazy to do your testing it seems. Don’t bother asking me to do your reporting either.

Game crashes constantly

Worked fine for 6 months, now the app crashes every time I load a new area onto my screen. Tried reinstalling and it didn’t fix the issue. My phone is still new and runs other much larger games just fine. I am cancelling my membership until this issue is fixed

This skill is some how way more updated in old school RuneScape. There is very little to be gained getting 99 and it feels completely out dated compared to the rest of the game. Can you please make this more rewarding and useful content wise.

Crashes

1 star until crashing in populated areas are fixed, can’t use the app for the things i want to do ingame (such as train divination) as the app closes itself within 30s of being around 50 other players. This problem was acknowledged on app release in July and is still a problem.

The mobile app is amazing, I use this one an iPhone XS and surprisingly the game lasts a long time without the battery draining if played on lower end settings, but is still able to play mad graphics with no issues if preferred. Only flaw would be to have the ability to have custom UI like we can on pc version.

- very laggy on high load worlds (eg w84 market) or any areas where large numbers gather. Moving around in these areas crashes the app

- tends to be a battery drainer even on the resisted setting. Also tends to warm up the phone. Hopefully this can be worked on

Laggy as hell

I’ve been playing RuneScape for over 10 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed it on PC, going mobile is great when I’m not home but this is laggy as hell, frame rate will drop to 1 for about 1 minute when I’m in a field skilling and have been there for over 10 minutes, it’s random and annoys me to high heaven. Almost Perfect!

After playing the iOS beta for months, I’m glad Jagex has mixed and matched to see what works. Almost everything is just like PC. The only downsides I have are customisation of the player interface are very minimal - every player plays the game differently so custom interfaces would be a game changer. The other thing is the heat coming from the iPhone - I have the latest and best model iPhone but after 10 minutes of game time on minimal graphics, the phone is too hot to hold. Other than that, game works and runs smoothly.

Unresponsive/finicky UI

The game is runs well, doesn’t use too much battery and overall is a decent experience. As an avid PC RuneScape player the scaling and click boxes of most of the menu items is just way off making it hard to complete any task that isn’t click once every so often. I don’t see how features of the game like bossing or any pvm could be accessible with this clunky UI design.

Great game, interface optimisations = perfection

Really great game, so glad it’s now available on mobile. A few optimisations, particularly the interface would make for a smooth pleasant experience of a game that that has stood the test of time for a good reason.

Great game, poor mobile design

I love the game, but finding the overall UI unresponsive, hard to click particular elements. I don’t think the design itself is too bad, but it needs to be far more responsive and developed more to fit the mobile platform.

Perfection

You can’t go wrong with these classics.

RuneScape is a franchise tag has been around for 2 decades and it’s still going strong. This game is like an upgraded version of the “old school” RuneScape game without tonnes of improvements including visual appeal and smoother combat, plus the ability to dual wield a variety of weapons.

Despite the archaic movement controls and the heavy lag from time to time this is still one of the best MMORPG’s the Apple store has available, and it’s free.

Go a chase that nostalgia high.

Not as good as I was hoping

I would’ve thought that playing on an iPhone 12 Pro Max, the game would work well, but it doesn’t. It lags and my phone is burning hot as I type this. Will uninstall and try another time when bugs have been resolved. Very disappointing as I had high hopes for this game.

Top game of all time

My absolute favourite game of all time. Been playing since 2008. RuneScape is a game where you can do loads and loads of things and you will NEVER get bored of the game. Highly recommend to anyone willing to spend some time on it.

Great game, great app

The beautiful openworld sandbox is now finally on mobile. The game is as great as ever and I am thoroughly impressed with a lot of the usability features within the app.

Runs an absolute dream on the iPad Pro and is the perfect way to enjoy the game whilst on the couch or on the go.

You rarely hear it these days but thank-you Jagex for a quality product.

The app definitely needs some sort of improvement

I am currently using an iPhone 11 and the game is so laggy that it crashes on its own without needing me to close it. I was looking forward to playing rs3 on the phone for it’s convenience but may stick with playing on the pc for now. Good job though 👍🏻 looking forward to this

Needs adjustments, but good

Overall quite a smooth experience, on both iPad Pro and iPhone 12, with some hiccups here and there.

Specifically for the iPad I would like to see the ability to zoom out further, as well as a bigger minimised chat box, and smaller maximised chat box, and smaller frames in general. Regarding chat, PLEASE have chat scroll the same direction as on PC, this is horribly jarring.

Otherwise, great experience so far!

Soo Bad

It is just soo bad! Whole interface is extremely ugly, game is buggy and laggy. I hate whole tap to move…. Come on it is 2021… just upgrade that fame a little hit and make it actually playable. I had to delete after 30 mins as I couldn’t hand it anymore. Compare to Albion online Runscape 3 is just a joke. What a shame.

This game is so dated

I was looking forward to this game until I realised they made us tap to move on our mobiles thinking we are still using a mice and keyboard? Who the hell wants to tap on the mobile.

The game just doesn’t seem fluid to play on mobile given its 2021 and the engine is just too dated.

I wasn’t feeling it at all. I couldn’t play it unfortunately.

Bugs bugs bugs

Was really looking forward to this game having spent a lot of time on the PC. Did the first quests in the first zone then when forced to name and change the appearance of my character…..I can go no further. It is stuck and pressing done does nothing. Not a great start to the app on what was a great PC game.
