Description

UV radiation is the major cause of skin cancer, as well as sunburn, tanning and premature ageing.
But the problem is none of our senses can detect UV. It’s not like sunlight, that we can see, or the sun’s heat, which we can feel. As a result, we usually don’t realize how strong UV is until it has already damaged our skin.
seeUV uses local forecast data to display an augmented reality animation to help you understand the strength of UV radiation. Red rays simulate what strong UV may look like, while green rays simulate low UV levels.
Over time, UV damage causes wrinkling, spots and blotchiness. seeUV includes a face mask feature to simulate what this damage may look like.
Remember, UV damage is preventable by using good sun protection - slip on covering clothing, slop on sunscreen, slap on a broad-brimmed hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses.

Disclaimer:
The application is intended to help educate about the presence of UV radiation. This is achieved by simulating the presence of UV radiation through an animation. It does not use the camera to measure or visualise UV radiation entering the atmosphere. UV level and temperature data is returned from the Bureau of Meteorology and the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency. UV data is only available for locations in Australia.

Amazing & Reliable

For someone like me who’s not even able to put on sunscreen, it’s amazing and reliable because I’m able to see how much it’s effected me and if I should even be out in the sun

Doesn’t detect UV

This ap seems to use the weather forecast to identify the UV risk in your area, then applied AR tricks to make it seem like it’s applied to the camera.
Without location services or an internet connection, they have no way to assess the UV exposure.
Call it what it is. A weather ap with face AR

Not really educational more like scare tactics

Use the dminder app to measure healthy sun exposure, sunscreen can cause more harm . Only use natural Zinc to block sun or you are burning chemicals on your body.

Nice Idea

I like the idea of this app to see the presence of UV around us and the effects of UV on our unprotected face. However I would appreciate if the UV index was more accurate as the reading is quite different from reading ms on ARPANSA website or even the SunSmart application. Other than that a great app!

A much needed eye opener to UV

This app is amazing! I know the damage UV can do to your skin however you never fully realise it until you see it.
