I get maybe a day of limited access with multiple crashes and log outs before the “system” just resets me and I can’t log in at all. I constantly have to contact the school to reset my account and provide a new password. I have in installed and reinstalled this piece of junk I don’t know how many times, now I can’t even get past the school selection screen. I have no access to my child’s calendars, timetables, attendance, or messages from the teacher or school. Because this app is so bad, I missed out on school photo day and will now have to chase up how to get photos…. Absolutely shocking! If the school didn’t require it’s use I would use something else entirely.

The “new” update has made the app useless. Won’t load anything, get so many notifications for the same notice, can’t mark any of the notices as “actioned”. Won’t load, deleted and downloaded again. So frustrating that schools are using this garbage to “communicate” with parents.

Though not a polished app, it did work ok until recently. I suspect that it may have started failing after the most recent IOS release. Very annoying as it is now logging me out and I have to search for school again. When I finally get back in, it constantly gives an error - failing to load anything and telling me to try again later. Reading other reviews, it appears to have gone backwards and has the same issues as before.

The app is not so bad but the latest updates has put a bug I think.
I just keep getting multiple notifications for the same message. Example the school sends message and get 4 notifications for the same. It is really irritating.
Secondly everything the app update it logs you out and have to go through whole hassle of logging in and selecting school.
I hope the developers fix it soon.

What a useless app, it never loads, times out and when it does work notifications come back after they have already been actioned. I’ve installed and uninstalled over and over to try and get the important notifications from my child’s school.

This app is well Intentioned but isn’t a reliable tool for communication.
Read the other reviews to see info on frequent log outs, graphics not visible on screen, missing messages and similar misadventure.
I raised a support ticket and removed no response.
Schools will blame the app developer while the app developer will blame the schools.
All in all a great way for parents to miss out on school communication. At the same time schools will keep sending information while being unaware that parents are receiving nothing.

I downloaded the app for my school updates thinking it was going to be better then opening up a browser every time. But having to enter the School Name my username and password every time is extremely annoying. Sometimes it asks me if I would like to setup Face ID. I say yes but then it says unknown error, then I have to log out and log in again. Just add a remember me button or fix the Face ID and I can bump up the rating

This app was designed to make the connection between parents and the school administrators easier, but the app is awful.
It takes several attempts to open any of the shared files from the school because it’s always timing out before things can load.
It signs you out and won’t sign you back in
And other times information you’ve sent to the school never actually reaches them.
It’s actually faster and easier as a parent to call the school directly.

Sentral has so many problems and my biggest issue as a consequence is that my child’s school *thinks* they are communicating, but they are not. They are let down by Sentral.
I get mobile notifications, I see part of the message, I click them, and then I’m landed on the Main page of the App with clunky navigation and the notification message nowhere to be seen. Anywhere. Grrrrr.

Terrible app doesn’t do its only function of properly school communication. Strange glitches even at the point of signing up. I don’t understand how schools choose to use such app and that we don’t have an option but to use it. Students are not excluded from the issues too, they can’t access it for simple things like accessing timetable etc.

The first post from the school was pain til to read as I had to scroll left to right for each line (the note was displayed as if it were on a PC).

Can’t view my son’s report in a browser. When I click ‘view in browser’ it just goes to a blank web page. I reported this problem via the school six months ago but nothing has been done. As a parent, the Sentral for Parents app is really great, once I learned how to navigate it.
As a teacher though, you need to release a version for teachers as well! Having to use the website on my phone isn’t user friendly at all! Having an app would be much more convenient.
Hopefully it’s in the pipeline!

My daughters school uses this app to access her school work and timetable updates.
Every time the app is opened the iPhone states “authentication failure”
The App does not have any option to save her username and password. She has to manually type both in every time.

If you only have to deal with one school then the app is probably fine, although it’s incredibly clunky despite its decent look.
If you have multiple children and multiple schools then it is a nightmare. Incredible to think that such a poor design is being sold to schools. You have to log out and log in each time to each different school, and somehow work out how to manage different logins and access keys etc.
I’m hoping that the schools go back to a more efficient option, such as a mouldy lunch-soaked note in the school bag or perhaps a carrier pigeon.

I had to select several buttons before I was able to drill down and actually find the student information i wanted (subjects on student continuum tracker). Once I was in looking at the breakdown of a subject the back buttons didn’t work so I had to close that page which shut everything so I had to select all those buttons again before I could look at the next subject I was interested in. That’s a lot of button pushing just to view my students progress!

Deleted and reinstalled twice today and something still going wrong. This is seriously the worst application available and the Dept of Education and schools who use it should be embarrassed, not as embarrassed as the developer but close.
So the developers promise the school a level of communication with parents and we get shafted. Thank god our school are pulling the pin on using it later this year, although I bet the developers are still stealing from our kids education funds.

I’m a student who needs to use Sentral everyday. Whenever I open the app, it says authentication failed and I need to enter school, username and password every single time. This is a huge nuisance. Even the computer version you don’t need to enter the school, just username and password. Why can’t this be the same or better.
Apart from that sentral is ok. Just fix the problem and I would give this 5 stars

This app could be helpful but it is full of flaws, especially when it never remembers your login, neither school which is very annoying as you have to do it over and over again, especially when I have to check what period last minute, Also in the App Store pictures it looks like good UI, Right? WRONG! It is just the Sentral website slapped on and It is really annoying to use desktop sites on phone as everything is tiny.

I downloaded this app the main reason is check timetable,because it’s always changing from school.
However the timetable hidden so deep!You have to press”portal “then press up right home button,switch to the student name then the timetable appears.
Besides if you download from another device,the home button doesn’t work!If you try to manage access key to plus student,it’s said the user access already!
That’s means only one device can check timetable of one account!

Whoever designed this app really deserves a cake! With a child in one and two in another, both using Sentral as their communication platform, I am forced to log off and pick a different school every time I need to switch schools. Each with a different email and password, but Apples KeyChain doesn’t like two accounts for the same ‘service’! Having developed systems for the last two decades I am appalled that the creators of this app weren’t able to recognise that kids grow and when they do they move to a different school - or simply change school when their circumstances change - but their parents remain the same!

I have had many problems with this app. It doesn’t stay logged into the selected school, you can send a whole message to the teacher and then it tells you you have timed out and you have to retype your message again, when app is working it will confirm your message sent but this function rarely works, you can’t send more than one attachment at a time. Opens to a very easy first page. Then need to use a convoluting set of clicking options to find what you want for it to go to a website to view the data. Messaging is probably the best part of the app. But the functionality of the rest of it is poor. Also constant issues where the app doesn’t allow access, or the website is down etc. if the app doesn’t work trying to find the parent login portal on the website is impossible. Very frustrating

Only get as far as school name, the next screen is just blank. Even when this isn’t happening, we are constantly being logged out, which gets very frustrating having to re-enter our details 5-10 times per day. A remember me would be a good addition. Constantly being timed out isn’t great either and finally, constantly being told there’s no network connection. Well that just does my head in. Hate this app, wish my children’s school used something that actually does what they promised this app would achieve.

As someone who loves interfaces with a really good design concept and easy to use app, Sentral ticks all these boxes. However it’s downfall is it’s failure to remain logged into the selected school, I find more often than not that I am needing to type in the school name to log in again which is annoying and unnecessary. Sometimes it logs me out completely forcing me to type up my entire email and password again! If anything you should at least have a remember me option.
I don’t want to be troubled by having to log back into the school, or even just logging back into my account in general whenever I click on a notification. It is a waste of time and deters me from using the app. I’ll log out when I want to, but don’t log me out when it’s not in my own convenience.
Fix this glitch or poor app development.

I don’t have a choice. I need to use the app as my child’s school decided to subscribe to the service. My only hope is that this review, along with other reviews, will persuade schools considering Sentral to look elsewhere. I am currently being bombarded with close to 50 push notifications for messages I have already read. The app itself is clunky and not intuitive. Anecdotally, other parents at the school are having the same experience.

I’ve tried repeatedly to attempt to get into this app using my Sentra email and password, and it is invalid, every time. I went back to my schools website thinking the problem might be me, but no, I got in straight away. I then went to the Sentra for Parents helpdesk to try to get a solution to this problem, but as my email and/or password are ‘invalid’, I can’t even report the problem. So, a completely useless app that I’m going to delete and I’ll just keep on using my schools website.

I have been using this app for a couple of years. The ability to submit reasons for absences disappeared not long after. I had downloaded again but to no avail. Also, didn’t work on the website. I downloaded again today and it now works. I also discovered that I have been missing communication from the school for the whole year. Only an occasional thing would appear on the feed. I thought the school was being lazy but now discovered the app just hasn’t been working. Hopefully all will be good from now.

There is no excuse in 2019 for software to be this bad. I do not have the time or patience to delete and re-download this App on a daily basis which is what is required to have it work and even then it only works intermittently. Sometimes this doesn’t even fix it. A notification hits key home screen, the App goes through the motions of opening then immediately snaps itself shut. I am beyond frustrated and goodness knows what information I am missing. Schools tell me that it works at the back end for them - let me tell you schools in terms of communication with parents it is abysmal. I wish I could give it negative stars.

I don’t normally write app reviews, but feel that schools need to be warned away from this app so their precious time and resources are not wasted. Sentral Parents should make communication with your school easier, but it fails miserably. The biggest problem is that it constantly crashes when trying to log in. Not just for me - my wife and several other parents I know experience the same issue. I have to delete and reinstall the app on a regular basis - at least weekly - if I want to access it. When it does work notifications (arguably the main feature) are poorly implemented. There is also no support to be found. In desperation I ended up joining Facebook to be able to keep up with school news and alerts. Hopefully our school hasn’t invested too much into this lemon and can be convinced to ditch it - make sure your school stays well clear in the first place!

Our school uses this app and stands by it. I have missed numerous communications from my children’s teachers as I do not get the notifications although they are turned on. When there is an update I have to delete the app and reinstall for it to open. I have also had a message sent to a teacher 4 times when I only sent once and it appeared as once on my end. I have been told my password is wrong when it wasn’t. It’s clunky when it tries to open up in its web version from the app. And confusing to navigate. If you have an app shouldn’t it be functional and you can access what you need rather than jumping into a web version. I have spent more time trying to get this app to work than is worth the actual information. I end up sending a note in or making the school. The most recent issue is it starts to open then just closes. I have deleted twice since then and it still isn’t working. Waste of my time.

This app is almost exclusively supposed to be used as a communication tool between patents and teachers yet it won’t send notifications when new messages are received and since the latest updates there appear now to be 2 message inboxes- each containing a different subset of messages. I’ve been expecting a message from my daughter’s teacher for 2 days. I’ve been checking app- nothing. It turns out she’s sent a message but it’s only visible in the portal (essentially a click through to the website)- not in the app. There is no notification of new messages in either case.

This app is hopeless. We have to use it because our school chose it but it hardly ever works. The app just spins it’s little timer icon and never actually loads any of the information. I have to remove the app and then reload it to get it to work again (something I’ve had to do far too many times). This makes it work for a bit but it reverts back to useless again pretty quickly. If you are a school looking at this app - DON’T (unless you like dealing with frustrated parents, lots of complaints and an ill-informed school community because nobody can find out what’s going on).

I’ve now had this App installed for one term. It has worked once when opened in that entire time. I’ve got maybe 3 push notifications and that’s it. The App doesn’t load, and I no longer get notifications. You can’t sync the calendar from the main portal either. Useless on every score.
I LONG for the rather mediocre app that our school used to use. It wasn’t perfect, but at least you could sync the calendar and received notifications. All I get with this is a screen that never loads. Waste of time.

This app is completely useless. If I could give it zero stars I would. Once logged in I can see notifications that I never actually received. When visiting the portal page, I just get a blank screen with nothing on it. Consequently I have no way of adding our second child that also attends Skye primary. Even worse, the school expects us to use this facility to view our children’s reports, of which we have no way of getting access to from within the app. Like the other parent who rated this app, I am bewildered as to how Sentral managed to sell this solution to the school.

This app is USELESS. If I could give it 0 I would. It doesn't open, keeps crashing, I delete, reinstall, doesn't work. I am missing important information from school and is now becoming a safety issue. My son's excursion got back early and the school notified parents via the app. Of course my app doesn't work so I didn't get notified and wasn't there to pick him up on time!
You must have some fantastic sales reps to get schools to start using this app because the ratings on the App Store would be a giveaway that it is not working for parents. Sooo FRUSTRATED

App and push notifications does not go along

Feels like this app has not been tested at all. Basic work flow like registration, simple login and push notification does not work as intended. In many instances app crashes, freezes or send lot of push notifications. Simple feature like opening the app when a push notification is displayed make app unusable and have to delete the app and login to make it work. Can not logout as loading indicator does not dismiss at all. School should look for other app. This app has some serious problems.

I like the app - only sends me notifications for the things my children are involved in and it allows me to pay for excursions and give my permission at the same time. A little bit annoying to have to load up students after already connecting to the portal - but I understand it is for security reasons.

Just downloaded the app. Really like it. Sends me messages for all my child’s groups without me having to join anything. Get the homework, excursion notes and can make payments all in one place. Much better than the last thing the school used.
