The new updated UI is simply terrible. The repayments/orders section has been replaced by pulse rewards (pretty useless in itself - $5 off $XXX spend). Why has it been hidden in the my afterpay section ? Afterpay is a first and foremost finance app.
The old design was right - the my orders section (a core function of the app) was easily accessible, whilst the rewards section (an auxiliary function) was found behind a menu. Now it’s been switched around and doesn’t make any sense. If i wanted discounts i would’ve downloaded Shopback or Cashrewards instead. Stop trying to fix something that’s not broken, the old UI was better.

Afterpay offers $150 off a purchase, then declines the approval because it’s working against the 25% repayment of the original price, even after several years of responsible purchases and repayments. Why offer customers a coupon if it doesn’t work for your own policy, and then treat the customer like they’re invalid? Do you guys see how this appears to a customer-facing experience?

Never had any issues with AP until recently. Got logged out of my account on mobile, and upon trying to log back in was told there was no account associated with my email address. EXTREMELY stressful as I know I have payments coming up, but don’t know how much/when, and haven’t heard back from customer service in 2 days. No live chat or phone helpline, of course. Never made a single late payment so no idea why this has happened, but as soon as it’s sorted out I’m deleting my account. Avoid.

Ever since the latest update the app will randomly log me out and then not recognise my email or password. Also in order to purchase anything I have to:
1. Set privacy to “standard” instead of “strict” on my browser, and
2. Delete and re-install the app.
This is just ridiculous. There are literally so many options to go with out there, which I will if the issue is not resolved soon. Too much hassle.

Pulse rewards has objectively gotten worse - used to be 3 late payments before you’d lose your tier status, now it’s 1. And they’ll count your payment as late from the first time zone in your country to tick over past midnight, instead of your local time zone. I’ve noticed that the offers seem to be worse too - majority are $5 off orders of $50-$75+. I had an issue recently where my in-store purchase of around $150 was declined despite an available balance of $450 showing in the app, and customer service could provide me with absolutely no clarity on the matter. Not to mention, you’ve closed all the phone lines so we have to rely on chat to attempt to resolve issues? I had a query this week, and received a response completely unrelated to my question! I’m now looking for a new BNPL service to swap to, because this is just getting ridiculous.

They desperately want you to browse around in their app, but I doubt more than 1% of anyone does that. You can argue that's still something, but I'd argue that making the other 99% appreciate an app with less useless clutter would lead to people using it more often.
Also I'm quite sure my previous review was removed. If Apple is doing this for AfterPay, that needs to stop. Nothing I've ever said crosses any lines, so I'll say it again:
AfterPay needs to stop bleeding merchants. Clutter won't raise revenue as much as finding some agreement which gets Bunnings or IKEA or Total Tools, or Sydney Tools or other major high ticket retailers on the platform.
You had Bunnings and then you lost them. That's tragic. Also the AfterPay "card" only working at supported retailers makes it useless. Find a way of making it work anywhere. If we have to pay a per-payment fee as part of that, that's acceptable, but it should work everywhere the same way Zip does.

Have been quite a loyal consumer of theirs for a fair amount of years and have always paid back every single bill & either on time or early.
During the first lockdown I was forced to make a payment arrangement with them - which was ALWAYS paid back on time. Around this time last year we were put in another surprise lockdown and I was forced to go on another payment plan. 2 payments were late. The rest were paid on time & multiple were paid EARLY. A year on & I’m steadily back in my job with no look of more lockdowns in the future.
I’m in a good position financially so I asked to have my account reinstated.
Remembering my bills are ALWAYS paid back.
Finally got an email after 3 working days after checking my account & seeing I no longer have access whatsoever.
They’ve closed my account because they’re apparently ‘worried’ about my being in debt.
If you’re so ‘worried’ about the debt of your consumers then maybe you need to rethink your whole business. I mean are you not a debt service??????

In a way I am kind of glad though as I hate these buy later apps. This however used to be my preferred as there were generally no fees & I found it easier to pay back over other apps.
They’ve told me I can ‘ask again’ in 12 months but I think gone for good is a better option 👍

Can we please have the no payment on first payment back for mint level customers when spending over $500. I spend a lot on afterpay and I’ve never missed a payment. I went to spend $600 today and I’m now discouraged to make the purchase because just like other providers you now want first payment upfront even from mint level loyal customers. Been a long-time customer of AP and have found it very easy to use and navigate, and easy to understand; great transparency and little to none obvious manipulation. Seems in touch with the every-person. Customer service is very friendly, helpful and quick to respond. Pulse Rewards is great if you keep paying on time, that is…it’s just awesome that you don’t have to pay anything upfront for two weeks. That used to be standard, but anyway. I feel I can pretty much trust AfterPay which is saying a bit as I am quite sceptical by nature. Their image is not one of greed but of ordinariness for the every-person, and I sense a vibe of down-to-earth, basic, almost wholesome transparency from AfterPay. Only fear is that the more mainstream the are becoming, the less of what I’ve just written will apply. My rating is also against my experience with Zip which I stopped using as soon as I could. Basically, I feel a great deal less like a manipulated commodity when I use AfterPay which means a massive deal to me. Finally, I appreciate very much that one can miss up to a certain number of payments per 6 months or year without incurring any fee. Just wish that not paying anything upfront for two weeks was standard and non-conditional, as it used to be. Hope this is helpful for those considering using AfterPay. I think they are a business worthy of my own and others support.

I love Afterpay so much please don’t ever change a thing it’s perfect. You should be so proud of your company because finally someone cares about giving us a fair way to buy things without putting people into financial debt and hardship like all the greedy interest and fees from credit cards and banks no one can ever pay back, we are very grateful to you and you have really taught them a lesson, what a lovely idea just like an old fashioned laybye system only modernised and way better. I use Afterpay all the time now.
I would love you to add a big spender system to buy really big purchases too for Holidays appliances and used cars with longer to pay off terms up to around $5000 would be amazing if that is at all viable for your company, I’m sure you can come up with some great ideas as it would really help those who don’t want to take out ridiculous bank loans etc. as you guys are amazing at solving the problem of helping people to get things they could never pay off normally finally letting those greedy credit cards and banks know their outdated systems are not good enough anymore thanks again.

Perfect recommendation for budget conscious buyers with unexpected expenses or the occasional purchase, a fantastic alternative to a credit card. User friendly with location specific store deals and brilliant customer service.
I have yet to have any issues with Afterpay, the addition of a card to add to your phone has definitely made a huge difference in unexpected costs to renovating and selling my apartment.
If you’re unable to stick to the payment schedule I would suggest reevaluating as the interest is similar to a credit card but for those who are able to maintain the repayments; it’s a great solution with great support and great in-app deals on everything. I highly recommend!

I love the freedom afforded to me by Afterpay. They trust me and I trust Afterpay. They are supported by reputable companies and businesses and orders are a never fail. Quick, easy service from the comfort of my home and I’ve always loved the idea that I’m still in control of making payments ahead of time which suits me perfectly. I’m a hardworking reliable person who budgets each spend so the ease of each transaction is exactly how I like….love…..things! I like to complete payments before purchasing again so it’s absolutely for me. I believe Afterpay therefore encourages better habits nothing like the usual revolving credit that eventually traps people into debt. I treat myself more often using Afterpay and have used the in store card purchase when I decided to indulge myself one time - out of the blue and quickly repaid my account so it was seamlessly perfect again and I didn’t even notice any financial stress and more importantly it was a rewarding feeling when I knew I deserved pampering. Available almost anywhere making it extremely convenient, mostly I like having the option to use afterpay just like any of the cards I have on my phone yet you still get the flexibility to pay in the traditional 4x instalments regardless whether afterpay are affiliated/linked with the retailer or not giving you unlimited options & the opportunity to be able to afford to buy things I otherwise would not have been able to afford & I used to be notorious for missing in store lay-by payments or forgetting about the entire fact I had an in store lay-by losing hundreds of dollars in cancellation fees & additional monies deposited toward the balance/total cost which the customer is rightfully entitled to be refunded but some stores don’t keep record of lay-by history for longer than 6mths or they purposely make it difficult in their best efforts to keep your money however they can!
That will never be me again! 😁

I have been using Afterpay for a long time and I love being able to spread my payments over each payday so it’s not a big hit when I purchase something. I have achieve some rewards and appreciate being able to delay some repayments when I need to and I especially love not having to pay anything up front when buying something now that I have got to that level. My only request for Afterpay would be that I would love to be able to spread the payments over 6 or 8 payments instead of 4 for larger priced items or on everything just as a reward as well. 😁🙏Then it would be completely awesome!👏 I like getting the text warnings when the repayments are about to be processed too so I can ensure the funds are there or I can go ahead and pay the payment earlier if I want to. A great app and a great help to purchase so many things from so many places so easily. Thanks Afterpay!!

Many years ago Grace Bros offered a service where you took your items and paid later..it was brilliant Too many did not pay, this wonderful service was then ceased. Today, I have a mortgage, cats, dogs, rabbits children, grandchildren and have had cancer 3 times.. This brilliant service allows me to buy what I need whether it’s covers for the lounge, flea treatment, a gift for one of my daughters just because, or simply a pair of shoes for me, something which is a luxury.. I love this service, the customer service is excellent and every merchant should get on board. Recently I have had new tyres and brakes replaced on my car, all affordable through Afterpay.
When used correctly you do not get into debt.. I use it constantly have spent thousands with afterpay. Kudos to the young guys who started it Thankyou PS it’s a shame you sold it because as of a month ago there is no phone customer service person to speak with. I find that very disappointing. 😕

I was fortunate enough to discover Afterpay a coupla years ago & I absolutely love ❤️it … I’m an aged pensioner & I have found that Afterpay is the organisation I can go straight to when an unexpected event comes up & my next pension is all completely ear marked for other things … I can supplement my pantry with it, buy gifts with it, get a quick haircut, take my grandies to lunch … there’s such a wonderful variety of things that I can use Afterpay for and the best part of it is that it is Interest free … thank you Afterpay … you’ve saved my bacon on so many occasions; it makes being an Aged Pensioner a whole lot easier with the 4 x fortnightly payments plan … I can grab fantastic bargains even if I don’t have any money & pay them off over an 8 week period

One of the big 4 banks had me in their pocket until I discovered after pay. I paid down my credit card with their high interest rates and cut it up …… never to be used again. Thank you after pay for helping with my overspending and now using my own money to pay it in 4 easy payments. I now don’t spend more than I can easily pay in 4, having a credit card was so stressful trying to make ends meet, ( my own fault for spending more than I needed to) Afterpay also makes it easier to shop online and is more secure than a credit card. Brilliant minds that came up with the concept. The same Bank that I had a credit line with now has a copy cat “ pay it in 4” but my loyalty is with Afterpay. Thanks guys for a brilliant idea that has changed the way I purchase items I store and online.

Afterpay allows you to pay a quarter of the cost upfront and the other 3 payments over the course of your financial cycle. Used responsibly it can help get things rolling whatever the desire! Truly an outrageously awesome must have app for the modern world! Thank you to the folks who thought this up and made it real its truly life altering! I personally use it for getting my dentistry done at my favourite practice. I did have a hiccup with it at first, through a transition from barcodes to digital card. It seems Afterpay have sorted it all out! Thank you again! I love it because before, there was no way I could afford to get expensive dental treatment, now thanks to Afterpay I can smile with confidence again :D remember for Afterpay to function correctly you must have a quarter of the price of the product you are purchasing in your bank account first, or it maybe declined. When you become a veteran like me :D Afterpay sometimes waivers the first quarter payment start date to 14 days after purchase! Thank you to the folks at Afterpay your all amazing!

I can’t say enough about how convenient it is to use Afterpay. I’m not flush, I’m just a disabled pensioner, living week-to-week and trying to stretch the budget just like everyone else. But being able to buy the necessary items like a Microwave, vacuum cleaner or washing machine that need replacing over time; not having to get hit with the cost all at once, it means that I can make incremental payments and still have enough money to make it through the fortnight! I’m not strapped for cash and can’t eat for two weeks like it used to be before we had Afterpay. My items are delivered and in use pretty much immediately, so I don’t have to wait until they are paid for before I get them and that’s the difference Afterpay makes. I’d happily recommend Afterpay to anyone as it’s easy to use, especially with the Afterpay app, for the convenience of paying in increments and for the availability of Afterpay option to use at such a broad spectrum of stores, right across the country. A big, fat 10/10 stars to Afterpay, it’s wonderful!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have been using Afterpay for around a year now and absolutely love it. I am retired so only get a pension each fortnight but this wonderful service allows me to purchase things I need without having to put it on my credit card. I also use it when I see things on special to put away for birthdays and Christmas and because I have always paid on time or early my first payment now comes out two weeks from the purchase. I love that when I’m able to I can pay things off earlier and that by never being late with a payment my spendable amount increases. There are so many places that take Afterpay that I tend to use it for most things even if I can afford it at the time because then it leaves me with money in my account for any emergencies. They often send me emails with discounts to different retailers and I have never had any problems with them. Would definitely recommend, especially to people like myself on a limited income.

After pay enabled me to purchase Christmas gifts for my grandchildren and family this year along with other items l needed. Being able to pay repayments each fortnight instead of all at once has been a wonderful help. The only thing l would love to see After pay improve on is for the more expensive buys, the bigger ticket items to be able to stretch repayments for a longer period of time therefore making it more affordable by repaying bite size amounts per fortnight over a extendable period. I use zip pay for this reason when needing to purchase bigger items because l can simply not afford the large repayments over 4 fortnight’s coming out of my income . Always room for improvement After pay but in saying this l am a very grateful customer of After pay. Everyone is lovely whenever l have needed to call them. Thanks all.

Love Afterpay interest free payments while getting the products right away is great. You get a reminder that a payment is coming out for the next day. You’ll never have any problems with Afterpay if you make sure your payments are there. I’ve been using this service for years! And love it! Refunds if there’s any are given right away on return purchases to your bank account. And then the purchase is cancelled out. It’s all done for you after the purchase is returned. Which is great! I would watch multiple purchases all at near same time though, because the payments will start coming out at same time also. That can be a bit of strain on the pocket. Only two things I’d like to see changed is to have 6 weeks instead of 4 with payments especially for larger purchase amounts. As do some of the other services like this one. That would be helpful. 😊 Also to be able to nominate what bank account to have my payments come out of instead of my card account. Thanks Afterpay! Great Service!! 😁

Hassle free purchase online & instore. If you have any issues with retailers giving refunds or not delivering within time frame , Afterpay really goes above and beyond to investigate the issue (I have had issues with the same store many times & I called Afterpay and they advised of what procedure to take & basically demand the store to correct their error & not to leave store until it’s done ….. eg my refund at a certain store hadnt gone through for over 3 weeks , 5 visits to store to say the refund was done incorrectly, to be told I just had to “wait”! I took Afterpay’s advice & refused to leave store until it was sorted out & guess what …… the refund had been done incorrectly & technically it hadn’t been processed , my account was credited within 5 minutes.

I really appreciate the financial institution AFTER PAY . Mainly it’s egalitarian platform that makes sense and dollars , businesses and consumers benefit greatly . Being able to either purchase products or even service the car to taking a holiday!! Flexible payment program with rewards for on time payment means that things are achievable today . I have never been good with money but I have found that AFTER PAY keeps me on track and I feel a sense of accomplishment when I finalise my last instalment. I’m not a fan of credit cards of any kind especially for items that I classify as “wants “ but now I’m getting things that I want for the first time and also ticking the needs box as well.

When I’m out and about the Afterpay App goes with me so that if I decide to make a spur of the moment purchase and the retailer accepts Afterpay, and so many do now, then I’m good to go. It’s easy and convenient.
Most importantly for me, Afterpay has changed the way I budget in a very positive way, enabling me to make those larger needs based purchases with ease, in the knowledge that I can afford to buy what I need, when I need it.
Recently my 10 year old Notebook died. Within 2 business days I had a replacement arrive at my front door. I used Afterpay so I could easily budget for it. Paying for it in 4 fortnightly payments, with the first payment due about two weeks after my Notebook arrived. If I had used my credit card, I would be up for monthly interest on my purchase in the months ahead. So I will actually pay for my Notebook faster than if I had used my credit card and save money on interest. After all, it’s better that my money is in my pocket and not my bank’s shareholders pockets.
I have been using Afterpay going on 4 years with no financial dramas. It has changed the way I budget. It has been and continues to be a “sliced bread” moment for me.

I have been using afterpay for a long time now and it is great but their payment plan is not and can be hard to manage especially if you want to buy anything that cost the full amount of credit which is $1500. They need to reassess their payment plans to make it more user friendly. Their payment plan needs to fall into the same category as Openpay and Humm which are much more user friendly and easy to manage or they could end up loosing a lot of customers who will switch over to their competitors for easier payment plans. I am one of those people but currently still using afterpay but most probably not for much longer unless this payment plan changes.

Afterpay is my life :) I got off to a bad start when I first signed up as I didn't understand fully how afterpay worked . After I figured out for every purchase there could possibly be multiple payyour bill texts I was paying my first due bill thinking that was the only repayment and the next will come when I next get paid so more often then not I would come to the end of the weeks with no money left to pay the outstanding bills . Now I just make sure I pay every bill up until my next pay day witch has gained me some awesome benefits and has saved my life a few times when forgetting birthdays etc and the best thing is even if I have $0.00 dollars in the bank I can still enjoy unlimited shopping with the benefit buy now n pay nothing for 2 weeks .also the benefit if Changing bill dates n more I would highly recommed not only using after pay but keep up with your repaymens it's well worth it

This is such a well thought out and intuitive app. All your information is in one place. You can add multiple cards and switch between them on the fly. It also integrates seamlessly with other websites. Product returns are also made easy. I’m a mint member who has used it for around 3 years now and I’ve only had one small problem when the system was down and I was at the hairdressers and couldn’t pay. Because you have removed the barcode, I couldn’t leave that number with them to enter later on, nor could I ring the salon later and pay over the phone. I either had to go back to the salon in person or ring up and pay the whole thing on my debit card.
My only suggestions for improvements is to the repayment information and features. It would be useful if you could enter a date and have the app tell you the total amount due between now and that date (incl). It would allow you to easily see what is owed next pay day for example and encourage responsible spending. I like that you don’t have to pay anything on the date you make a purchase however the option to pay the first repayment on the spot would be handy.

Afterpay is super easy to use, well set out and most of the tabs/pages are very accessible. I like the rewards features and scrolling through favourite categories. I really like that you can buy the things you wish in 4 instalments and not incur interest or fees as a reward for paying on time. Another bonus is that there is a two week delay on the first payment if you are regularly paying instalments on time. Lots of rewards that make life easier. Highly recommend Afterpay.
There is a reoccurring issue that I would like to work more consistently: not sure if it’s just my app and phone but whenever I make a payment the totals do not update properly, or there’s quite a delay. I have to go into other screens for it to reload and give the updated total. Makes the process of paying an arduous process.
Just an idea: when there’s a refund it can be hard to find that record/transaction and you have to sift through all the payments. While it’s good to be sent an email on the news, it would be great to have this show up at the top of the list in My orders and know that it is reflected in the app and up on payments. Also, perhaps have a small inbox with updates such as ‘You just received a Refund of $$$’ etc.
Overall, I love the app and Afterpay as a payment system. Thanks so much!

Put simply, afterpay works for me because it allows me to buy more expensive things than I normally would if I had to save for them. It’s handy when I need to juggle cashflow and the added benefits and rewards that come with making regular payments have been genuinely valuable, not token. The app is easy to use and the fact that there are no fees puts afterpay way above other similar options. The only things that would make it even better would be if I could generate a credit card number for sites/stores that don’t take afterpay and if the app allowed me to select multiple payments to pay at once…it’s a bit clunky to pay a fortnight’s worth of payments one by one. But that’s just feedback that I’d only bother giving to a business/service that I use so much. Having worked in retail and managed the old lay-by service it’s no surprise afterpay is dominating the market. They’ve solved all the problems of the old way and made the benefits to all better. Very smart business, Clearly I’m a fan.

I LOVE this new(ish) idea - rather than having credit cards (I got rid of all my credit cards years ago, but not before almost burying myself in debt. I was young!). AfterPay essentially grants access to personalised mini-loans which are approved or declined on a purchase by purchase basis. By monitoring my general financial position and shopping habits, it’s fantastic. I feel like it’s saying "nope you can’t afford that, rethink please" when I’m occasionally accidentally eBay binging, however unlike standard credit and loans, one rejection does not affect your future AfterPay purchasing. If you consistently make your fortnightly payments on time, you are bumped up a tier, where you are able to purchase things with the first payment deferred for a fortnight.

Barcodes were quick and easy. I never had an issue with barcodes. The Applepay Card thing NEVER works and the shops now claim they can’t accept any barcodes at all on their system. To make it worse I went to purchase 200$ worth today on AP but it wouldn’t allow me because my card is about to expire! I haven’t even received the new card because they only issue them 4 weeks before expiring - not 6. So I got stuck in the embarrassing situation of having to cancel my purchase and pay the fee to lay by. I’ve never missed a payment - never been late - yet that means nothing! My card is valid! The bank confirmed it’s 6 weeks away and they’re approved the next one but I need the cvv no which of course I have to wait another 1-2 weeks until I get the card.
I used to love AP. Now with today’s incident and the horrible card thing I felt *forced* to get that *never* works (let alone get the supposed $20 discount on a purchase) I will head to look at the competitors.

Since using Afterpay I’ve managed to get several things for my home and business that I wouldn’t be able to get before unless I saved up the money for several weeks. Since I’m not good at saving, breaking the payments up into smaller amounts is working great for me. I don’t use credit cards due to their dangerous nature with high interest rates, and you get none of that here. It’s literally like borrowing someone else’s credit card. All I have to do is make the fortnightly payment and the rest is Afterpays duty. It’s really helped me and my children get by in life in a healthier way where we don’t have to go without. Thanks Afterpay you are a true humanitarian.

I have been a User of AFTERPAY, for quite sometime now & there are only two words to describe the benefits it allows & that is genius & awesome. It allows those on a fixed income to still purchase a present for oneself or a gift for another, or both & be able to take it with you on the day & the payment plan is fair, with payments split into four & there’s no interest & no unknowns. Plus there are no limits, other than what you earn by your purchases & prompt f/n payments. I have had to consult the office of Customer Service & l was dealt with efficiently, friendly & professional courteous support & problem solving. I love AFTERPAY, as their are no gimmicks, it’s ease of use, ease of viewing your account or using it at point of sale & it’s assistance of knowing where you can shop guide. I find it a lot better than lay-bys, as your reminded of when your payment is due & it’s just so easy to use & track.

I loved the concept of this and used the app for quite some time with no issues until an update around 6 months ago. Since then this app has been unusable for me. Every time I load the app it reports “sorry, we encountered a problem - try again” this is when I try and browse stores and also try and make a payment on my account. For that reason I have stopped using it. I contacted the support network and they were hopeless - I explained to them the issue even sending photos of the error so that the IT department could look into it. They suggested I closed the app and re-opened it 👎🏼 there has been no resolution or follow up at all and even in the recent updates this error remains the same. I can’t use the app as I can’t trust that my payment will go through as the error keeps appearing. I don’t want to get late fees as I have always been up to date on all payments. So as much as the app has been good in the past I give it one star because as soon as encounter problem the support center do not care to help. Bye Afterpay.

I know it’s not actually a credit card, but the functionality is the same. You have a limit you can spend, and a set payback date. But of course with Afterpay there’s no interest! I’ve had credit cards before and always found that I would end up maxing them out even if I couldn’t afford to pay back on time. This way I would always rack up huge interest and be in debt all the time.
So when I made the switch to Afterpay it was the best decision I could have made. Even though my limit has gone up to $1500 I never spend more than I can afford to pay off on time, because I don’t want to have my spending ability blocked because of a late payment. The app makes it so easy to keep track of everything and with Afterpay I can afford things I couldn’t without it and I can also afford to pay those things off.
There have been a few times I’ve wanted to buy something but the store did not accept Afterpay, but, I was always able to find the exact same thing at another store that did.

As a person who rarely impulse buys, yet finds it difficult to save for worthwhile purchases, Afterpay has resolved an issue I never new I had..
I’ve never struggled to pay bills on time (or early for that matter) but always struggled to save cash under the mattress for the things I want or need.
With Afterpay, and a little coordinating what days/weeks I purchase on, acquiring things such birthday gifts, unexpected work purchases (clothes etc.), personal items and wellness goods has become a stress free, prompt, easy to view and manage repayment system.
Don’t spend beyond your means, avoid purchasing items on a whim and pay you bill on time or in advance and you’ll stop wasting your saved up cash on junk that just pops up in life.. Great App, Great idea, just don’t be late on payments.. Simple. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I'm not affiliated with Afterpay in any way, I've tried Klarna Afterpay and more recently Zip. They all offer buy now pay later. My experience is Afterpay and zip have the best user experience app. Klarnas is klunky in comparison. Customer service at Afterpay us a nightmare in comparison to Zip. I also experienced a bad time with Afterpay charging late fees after I asked them to adjust a payment they said no and that I had to pay the remainder in full.
There are so many brands I like to shop and Afterpay being new only allows you to buy from those merchants that have signed with them. So I tried Zip another alternative to Afterpay, I can buy anything from anywhere, their tap and zip is awesome. Means I can use it for everyday purchases. I found the app for zip better than Afterpay so I've shut my Afterpay account down, they charge the merchant a lot and their late fees are too high. With zip I can adjust my payments as needed and throughout the pay off period.
Honestly I'd be choosing a credit card with 45 day terms or Zip after my experience with Afterpay, zip and Klarna

The idea of afterpay is great and is really helpful which I appreciate. But the app and customer support is just not good. I had made a few late payments (late being a day late) due to the loss of my job from covid so my pay day changing. My account stayed frozen after one of these late payments. I messaged and asked why it’s frozen and was told that I would need to pay off all of my remaining afterpays to have it unfrozen, which is honestly just ridiculous. So I went ahead and payed off all my payments, weeks earlier than I needed to so I could have it unfrozen. They unfroze it and gave me a $500 spending limit but declined ever purchase I tried to make. Even a $30 gift card. Absolutely ridiculous that they made me pay off my account early just to then decline all my purchases. I was recently given pulse rewards and have changed jobs so my pay now comes in a day late. I had payed two payments only a few hours late, the late fee hadn’t even been applied yet. Then the next payment didn’t get taken out of my account because I had the money in another account. I tried multiple times to go on to the app and pay it and the app wasn’t working and wouldn’t allow me to pay. Because the payment was then “late” they took my pulse rewards and all the money I was allowed to spend off of my account. When I reached out to explain that it was their app that wasn’t working I was given the same automated message as last time and basically told too bad.

I used this service for a little over 4 years, and found it really convenient with making purchases and tracking my spending.
Recently they introduced an ID verification, which in understandable, considering the financial implications of handing out $1K+ debts to anyone that applies. I had signed up with my preferred name, which didn’t match the birth name on my ID. I was repetitively met with “your ID doesn’t match so you can no longer use our service, despite my offer to provide a dozen different documents to prove my identity. After a lengthy email, the same service rep wrote back using my dead name, despite my email address, sign off, and lengthy discussion about how I don’t use that name. After I wrote back and pointed it out, he doubled-down and used it again. I signed off feeling sick with discomfort. It’s such an easy thing to use someone’s name. There’s so many people that need jobs right now, and no need to hire bigots. This exchange made me feel terrible, and the emails I’ve shown to friends and family left them appalled.

Actual afterpay product is fantastic in terms of ease of use. Two things I would like to see improvements on. Would prefer to see the name of store in my bank details rather than afterpay’s name, or at least store name in the payment deduction description. As when you have a few consecutive at the same time sometimes I want to be able to categorise these for my budget (e.g. clothes, homewares etc) but I have to do this manually.
2. Marketing messages can be pretty annoying and spammy with notifications about stores that you’d never consider. Tacky use of emojis and tone suits teenage or early 20s shoppers. They should tailor their promotions based on demographic and browsing history. Big potential here to better service customers who aren’t always bargain shopping but like the convenience of afterpay. I’m 30 and enjoy the convenience of spacing out payments as I make larger purchases a few times a year and don’t want a credit card. One time there was a Mother’s Day notification “don’t let mum be an afterthought!!!” my mum had just died and so I found this to be a tacky message in its delivery (other promotions around Mother’s Day didn’t offend me but the tone of this one was off).

So that I could get a chance of owning things that I want. The best things about is to pay off each quarter is every fortnight. So you could actually set up at the time when you have job keeper pay or job seeker pay that comes in every fortnight. And there is no credit check so I truely recommend to every one, you have nothing to lose, and I truely grateful and appreciate Afterpay , that give a second chance to bad credit people like me to fulfill our dreams basically, after all we are also the same human being and sane citizens that live under one government under one flag, we all deserve to own things that we need in life, and After pay is the one that fulfill those. Never have I felt so empowered as I do using this service. I can control my spending in a practical way that fits my fortnightly income schedule.
For the very first time I have found an effective way of putting myself first. I treat myself and don’t feel guilty as I used to with my credit card, when the end of month bill would appear. I love this so much that I practice the same fortnightly payment method even when forced to use my credit card because Afterpay may not be available on a particular item I want to purchase. This is a true paradigm shift in the way we can all access short term (interest free) credit. When you have access to affordable credit you have choice. When you have choice you feel like any other person in our society - not judged nor likely to be taken advantage because your lack of immediate funds.

I am so thankful to after pay , it’s been such a great budgeting tool and a huge help when times are hard to be able to afford the things we need . Not want !
However the reintroduction of the initial payment due on the day you order needs to go , we are in hard times and I understand so are businesses but more would be done if you hadn’t brought in that feature to your loyal customers , with good payment history , and account use . We have worked hard to have the excellent reputation on our after pay accounts by using it responsibly . I use it less now the first payment is due at the time of the order now .
Also in the gift card department . I’d love to see more gift cards like shopping at coles , Woolworths and so on . Sip pay offer this feature , and I now prefer zip pay over after pay for this very reason and the no upfront payment issue .
You had something great and went backwards . I hope y’all get back to what works again so I can give you 5 stars !!

I had the most enjoyable purchase at Epping Pandora store
I needed to take my granddaughter to buy her a bracket and charms so that she can remember my by, the staff who served us was very patient with us, I needed Tahloulah to pick her own charms and bracelet not to be purse to choose items she didn’t like, I can’t tell you enough we had the easiest of time and choosing for a girl of 10.
Thanks to afterpay for making it so easy for me to buy something that was out of my comfort zone in the end, I have made 2 purchases when I finished one I was able to get another, now I’m looking for my 3rd purchase on afterpay. I only pick something that I need and never go over my budget, which as a aged pensioner is very helpful.

AfterPay is a great concept. I have enjoyed using it. I have my own business and some weeks I earn decent money and othertimes its a struggle. Afterpay doesn’t take this into consideration. There are no options to juggle payments or put them on hold for a few days! Instead you are charged $10 per payment for being overdue. This is fine and I’ve had to do this twice during leaner times but then you are penalised and your credit limit dropped. They don’t take into account previous regular payments and good account management, even if you have had your account for a long time. My account was up to $1500 at one time and it is now $500 because I had 2 bad weeks in 2 years. Also recently I have had problems with my account (understandably due to current circumstances) so that’s fine but I just wanted to know what was happening with my own personal account and couldn’t get a straight answer. I was palmed off with a load of generic waffle. That being said if you are in a regular paying job and don’t have to have any unpaid leave this is a great little system.

After purchasing a pair of sunglasses a few weeks back,I still had $385 left on my account to spend in-store,and had intentionally left the remaining balance alone in anticipation of Xmas and a Nintendo switch gaming console. After paying the difference in the EB Games store,I went online to eb’s site (apparently they do not have afterpay scanners in their stores,no idea why not) to set up the Afterpay part of the payment. I had more than enough money in my regular banking account to cover the entire cost (one of the reasons for a decline of funds,as I had read) of the purchase of the console,only to find time and again that afterpay declined the purchase. Even when I increased the cash part of the purchase I was declined time and again. No explanation,no customer service line of any use,aside from a recorded message. My question is- why say on the app when creating a barcode that you have a certain amount,and then decline it’s use? Extremely frustrating and time wasting,for all involved,store clerks included,and not at all impressed.

No wonder the banks don’t approve!

I love Afterpay! Their customer service is next level. Their accounting system is brilliant. To be clear I have no affiliation with them and this review is from my own personal experience.
I no longer use my CC. I use Afterpay responsibly and have done from day one.
Financial institutions lend money to people who cannot afford it and keep increasing their credit. Afterpay do not let you use it if you do not pay. They let you know when payments are due so there really is no reason at all to not pay. It’s impossible to get into financial difficulty with them, unlike CC’s who will let you keep purchasing even if you have not paid your last months account, and then they charge you for the privilege of using their money!! People forget using CC it’s the Banks money! They want us to use their money because they make so much from it!
Well I will never ever give the banks my money as long as I have the service of Afterpay.

Great app and brilliant service! This has changed our lives in an extremely positive way. When used responsibly as all adults should do, and as designed to use, it can make such a positive impact on families. Thank you Afterpay for providing such a great service and such a great App to provide that service with. There will always be those that don’t do the right thing and then try to blame everyone else for their own poor actions. The media then reinforces their bad behaviour because they only run their stories with sympathetic undertones and never call them to task on why they acted ridiculously to begin with (terms & conditions and budgets people?). There are far many more responsible users with positive stories to tell - they are not looking to tell our stories though, that would be too boring, and truthful. 5 stars and 5 cheers for Afterpay! Keep up the awesome work!

Boring.......my life before afterpay was boring. I had a client come in and tell me about how she bought her Christmas presents on afterpay. She told me she got them up front, paid them off in 4 easy payments. I still wasn’t convinced until I wanted to purchase a top from MYER and saw instead of paying $109 up front I could pay it off in 4 easy payments (with no interest unlike a credit card). Well I was hooked. I don’t have a credit card and don’t want one either. The $1000 limit for me is perfect, you can’t go overboard and get yourself into credit trouble. Easy fortnightly payments make you think of purchasing and whether you should do it. And if you want to do it you can organise and plan your purchases against your payday which for me is amazing. I can’t imagine a life without afterpay. Thanks xo

Went to make my second purchase. My understanding was after initial purchase was fully paid off any subsequent purchases would not be changed until 2 weeks after. Wouldn’t allow me to make purchases as insufficient funds in my account. I removed some items and tried again. Still didn’t work. So we paid with credit card. Walked out disappointed. As we were returning to the car. Message from afterpay. “Your purchase successful (and we swiped all the money from your account even though you paid in full already)” returned to bigW expecting a refund. Dumb employees are not familiar with afterpay. Duty manager told me it has nothing to do with BigW it’s between me and afterpay. (By this stage afterpay is closed for evening) next day. Contact afterpay who say no it’s between me and the vendor. They aren’t authorised to reverse a payment. Had to return to BigW and speak with a more educated manager who offered a refund. (Hence the second star) not a pleasant experience but got sorted eventually.

Love this app..So many stores to shop at.. I'm dangerously addicted.. Not just at buying,but also just looking at everything and the huge selection of stores. A small hopeful suggestion though.. Because there is such a large choice of stores, Maybe a favorites option to save our fav stores, sifting through a million stores is sometimes painful.. Also a wishlist that we can personally categorise, when I see so many things I like, where am I supposed to save them..I either use my phone memory to take dozens of screenshots, then have to search the store and item again, or put them in the cart but then it resets after a time when I want to or, can afford to, go back to it. But otherwise, pretty easy to use app and fun to look at

Afterpay itself is an amazing concept and is perfect for when your budget is a little tight.
But the Afterpay App is absolutely pointless, seeing as I can log in maybe once every 100 attempts, and I’m not even sure as to why it won’t let me log in. I can log in through the web site on my phone, so that’s generally how I manage to pay off my stuff. But I have not once been able to use instore afterpay due to the fact the app NEVER works when I’m out. I either have issues logging in (saying it doesn’t recognise my account, which is the same account that works on the website) or I have issues with it glitching. It’s extremely frustrating trying to pay for things out at the shops, as I prefer to be able to select my product and receive it safely on the same day, but with the app not working I have to wait for online order which requires a certain waiting period, the excess shipping fees and also having to try and make sure someone will be physically present at home when the package is due. All that simply because the app won’t work. If you can fix this issue it would actually be a lifesaver

Afterpay is handy when it works, but if you ever have an issue it’s an absolute nightmare.
I was scammed by an online company who never sent my item, and I was trying to contact the company for 2 months and they never responded to my calls and emails, so I contacted Afterpay asking for a refund.
As a financial provider they’re required under Australian consumer law to refund the money if you don’t receive your goods/services. But afterpay refused to refund me and basically told me to deal with the merchant! Well I’ve been trying to contact the merchant for months and they still haven’t gotten back to me, so I’ve just been scammed out of my money.
If I hadve made this purchase using any other financial provider I would have gotten a refund. All debit cards will chargeback the money to your card, zippay will refund you if you don’t receive what you paid for, even PayPal returns the money in these situations, but afterpay is so useless and refuse to give me my money back! They’re ripping off people who are already in financial difficulties. I won’t be using afterpay again because it’s so unreliable and an unsafe payment method. I’ll be making a complaint to ACCC about this and I encourage anyone else who’s in the same boat! If they don’t fix this issue eventually they will be shut down

Self control is key!

If you lack self control or find you get addicted to things easily - DO NOT GET IT!!
I have used this to buy several things, a bird cage, mattress, chicken house, cat tree, and even a few clothing items. But it is about having a limit, work out a budget that you can afford, say some peoples is $50-$100 a fortnight some are more depending on your living situation.
I usually stick under $100, I have had a few purchases go at once, for my birthday and halloween last year, it definitely helped! You can also pay things off earlier, I always try pay the first payment same day I order it every time, even though after first initial one you can wait 2 weeks for first payment, then every pay day I go on it, and chip away at them early, so if anything comes up where I may have to miss one payment and need that money that week, I can skip it without any extra charges. I have paid some thing off within 2 weeks. And don’t exceed your limit!! Stick to the limit if it is $100, then don’t go over it, you could have a couple going that stay under your limit. But get into the habit of checking the app every pay day, and chipping away at it ahead of schedule.
I definitely use it, and have recommended it, but I have not used it in a couple months, I don’t just make purchases to make purchases. You have to be more conscious, and if you can’t be responsible, don’t get it!!!!

I am writing to let you know just how important Afterpay is as a service that victims of domestic violence can access so easily and readily with minimum fuss and complete control. The impact having the ability to purchase and to control spending in a such a way that you are able to rebuild your life cannot be understated. You changed my life. You gave me a life. You did this when NO other service would! I have put around 15 friends onto Afterpay & I urge every retailer to sign up. I have even stated that I will not purchase unless they have Afterpay. Afterpay changes lives. Especially for those that are fighting so hard to have one. Thank you. I hope soon Afterpay creates micro loans for existing customers. The only thing I have not been able to do is care for my dog with Vet bills and I know Afterpay could help if they offered cash loans through the same system, just an idea. Cheers.

Let’s face it, AfterPay is a lifesaver, HOWEVER the second you have an issue like I did, good luck speaking to anyone who has a clue about anything. Firstly, their in-app help request area allows you to log an issue and in chat room style one of their ‘customer service’ team respond. Over 3 weeks ago i first logged an issue about an attempt to make some payments via the app being declined for no obvious reason, yet the bank actually took the transactions as ‘pending’. Naturally I got worried that I will be double charged. So I received a response along the lines of ‘it’s a known issue and they will contact the bank and will advise further’. Instead the ticket was closed and no one ‘advised me further’, or bothered to check if the issue resolved itself before closing it off. I made another 2 attempts to chat with someone and my messages went unanswered for almost 2 weeks. Someone finally responds today with their understanding of the problem which was completely incorrect because they clearly didn’t read the issue through even though they had two weeks to do it. Horrible!
