Description
The Fair Work Ombudsman's Record My Hours app makes it easy for workers to record their hours of work and pass on information about their job.
The app allows users to:
• Automatically record their time at work.
• Manually input shifts or fine-tune shift details if they need to, for example, if they don’t leave their workplace during their lunch break.
• Export timesheets (and job information) to store safely or share with a preferred representative if they have a workplace issue.
The app also includes a range of helpful features:
• View, store and export shift history.
• Back up information to personal cloud storage and easily restore it on a new device or after a factory reset.
• Keep a record of work hours for multiple jobs and workplaces, all in one place.
• Take and add photos of employment information that belongs to an employee, like their own payslips.
Privacy and Security
Only you have access to your information recorded by the app. No one can access your information unless you choose to share it. Privacy and confidentiality rules apply in the workplace. Don't take photos of other people or business information.
Important notes for users:
* Users with an app version installed prior to May 2024 must export all their app data if they wish to keep it before upgrading to the latest version, as their data will not migrate across to the new version of the app.
* Wi-Fi must be turned on
Users must keep Wi-Fi turned on in Settings to get the most accurate automatic shift estimate of their time at work.
* Automatic shift recording
Automatic shift recording won't work for all job types, such as people working in areas with no mobile or Wi-Fi coverage or people who frequently travel for work. It also doesn’t work reliably in some circumstances, including if the app isn’t opened for an extended period of time. Manual recording has been incorporated to cater for this.

Used to be good - not anymore
This app used to be user friendly but the last update permanently wiped all previous data & it now insists location services being turned on so that it can automatically log when you’re at your workplace - this is utterly ridiculous for anyone working from home! I (like many others) used this app to log WFH hours for tax purposes, but the app is now completely useless for that.

Annoying pop ups
I do not want to allow location use on RMH yet every time I open it to start my shift it tries to force me to turn on location settings. I start my shift and end my shift manually. Looking for a new app to use unless this is updated to give me a choice. Stop stalking.

Lost data and harder to use
After finding this app so useful for a couple of years, last week I found an automatic update had lost ALL my data. I am finding the updated app so much harder to use (having to select my job every time even though I only have one job, and the clock face is not intuitive at all). I initially chose this app because it’s from the Fair Work Ombudsman (which gave me a feeling of security and confidence) but now I am not sure whether to bother at all. Not to mention I now have to find another way to recall my hours of work for the past month to submit my timesheet 😩.

Not smart developers
This app required both data the company Wi-Fi to instead of just mobile data. This means companies can block you from using the app and can setup alerts to find out which staff are attempting to use the app and to target them.

All data lost!
YEARS worth of data lost because you didnt tell anyone through the App to save their data. How can we trust this App ever again. Now I get constant annoying geo-fencing alerts to allow it to track me. I work from multiple places, this is not a useful feature. Bring back old version.

Don’t bother new updated version is terrible
The new update is terrible, it’s lost all my saved records and the new look is horrible and not easy to use like the old version. I’m looking for a new app right now to replace it.

WARNING - RECORDS LOST!!! DON’T install this app!!!
After the latest iOS update, this app has deleted ALL of my records! Despite backing everything up to iCloud. I contacted Apple to see if I could ‘undo’ the update, but this is not an option. They said contact the developer (which I have). My confidence in retrieving these are low, however, because the developer’s T’s & C’s say no data is kept. There was NO forewarning from the developer that this was going to happen. If my employer deleted all of my records, Fair Work/the Ombudsman would be involved. The irony. MONTHS of unpaid overtime I was tracking down the drain thanks to this app. And now I have no proof that I could take to Fair Work or my union. Funny how I keep getting notifications informing me that “it’s been several days since Record My Hours detected me at work” though. SHAMEFUL!

Old app was far better and you lose all previous data
This is a terrible update. The old one was so much better , both in terms of user friendliness and visually providing a quick and accurate representation of your hours worked, without annoying nags about turning on background etc etc. It was also easy to enter data. When you update to the new version, YOU LOSE ALL PREVIOUS DATA. This meant I lost years of data. This will also happen to those with automatic update. It’s only when you check the website after the update that you find out it will wipe your data with update! This is a great example of an app that went from
5 stars to 0 stars (if I can chose 0) both in functionality (and stupid annoying nags (no, I don’t want to run background and no I don’t want it to think it’s smarter than me as I work from home as well and those hours need to be counted). The previous app still kept time when closed.

Where did my jobs go?
What on earth happened??!! I have been using this app every day for years and it’s been so reliable until this latest update! All my job info, and I have multiple jobs and my hours have all just disappeared and I now have to start all over again and start from scratch??!! Surely not! Please fix this!!

Still buggy
Latest update wiped all my data. I was tracking WFH hours for ATO. Also can’t select the work record time frame for current pay period. End date has to be current date.

Don't Update，Records lost
I have been using this software for a long time, and it has been very useful. Today, the software automatically updated, and after the update, my two years of work records disappeared. Useless for WFH
Absolutely useless for recording WFH hours. Does not include location in exported timesheet or allow location to be entered into the app without constant location tracking turned on, even then it records your times incorrectly making the app useless for taxation purposes.

Really good but room for improvement!
This is one of the only free apps for tracking work hours and I’ve been really happy with it so far. However, there are a few things that would make it a lot better.
1) I’d love to be able to input the hourly pay rate and see the calculated money earned when the shift is finished.
2) The ability to export a single shift as either a .jpg .png or PDF. I wanted to send a receipt to a client but couldn’t without taking a screenshot which then cut off my notes in the comment section.
3) Auto backup to the cloud or Dropbox would be nice. I don’t want to have to manually do it every time.
4) This last ones just a personal preference but I felt like some of the other apps I saw had better looking graphics. I feel like this apps a bit chunky feeling.
I feel like if you did the following these could be the perfect app for tracking hours.

Not working for iOS 14.2
Unable to open the app since installing iOS 14.2.
App starts to open, then bombs out.
When I go to switch apps, it is there, but if I select it, it shows for half a second then disappears again (still in the suite of apps that I can switch to though).

Disappointing
Excellent app when working!! Which doesn’t seem to be often lately keeps crashing, when up and running random times logged. What has happened to this app can’t keep blaming 2020!!!!!!!

Was a great app but nowadays I’ve been having shifts that last over 24 hours
Or shifts where they only captured me being there for 2 hours when I’ve been here all day
Or where I didn’t show up at all
Right now I’m sitting in our lunch room
But the app says I left office 2 hours ago :/

Good app but needs attention
This seems like a really good app but needs attention. Unfortunately I have deleted it as it keeps crashing. Probably one of the best roster, time tracking FREE apps out there. It’s a real shame the government can’t keep it functioning.

Easy, free app for busy small biz sole trader
Great location sync feature that automatically tracks start and finish times at different jobs for ease with invoicing multiple clients per day. Love that it’s also free.

Works well
I am still on iOS 10.3 and this app works perfectly fine. Has been really good as a back up to record my start and finish (or arrival and leaving) times. I just wish it had more detailed break information and options like start of break times etc even if manually entered. I love the export feature. Hopefully it continues to work just as well when I eventually update my iOS.

Disappointed
Downloaded this to try keep track of hours I spend on projects I work on, but it freezes every time I try save a new “job”. Since I can’t seem to get any further than that I can’t really say much else, except not sure how I feel about it being a government app...

18 languages???
I wanted to use this in my work with migrants but when I downloaded the app I can’t find the 18 languages promised on the FWO web site so it’s not useful. Plus there’s a lot of bad reviews about battery issues and crashing so I’m deleting this app

The potential is there!
Seemed to work fine till the update to iOS 11. I now have random start/finish times. Constantly have to (double) check recorded shifts.
I cannot edit my job location without it crashing.
Pity, so much potential there.

I can't even get this to accept one job. Just stalls on 'loading'. Deleted and reloaded three times to no avail. Shame. Might have been useful.
