If I could a zero I would

Constantly logs you out and you have to log back in to get a code, meaning you constantly miss out on rewards points. Keep increasing the amount of reward points you need for each item. Absolute joke of an app

No more deals, points massively depreciated

Once upon a time you had dollar coffees, $5 specials and regular good deals
Everything expensive now. Massive points for any coffees needed etc. a year ago was 2500 points for a large coffee and they get smaller and smaller and then more points needed too.
Massively reduced my maccas intake though so great for my health 🥸

Pay & Place Order doesn’t work - again

This happens at least twice every year. You’ve gone round the family, added in everyone’s order so you pickup at the drive-thru. Then you press “Pay & Place Order” and the button doesn’t work. effectively making the entire pre-order process ineffective. You now have to remember all the order and all edits and hope the person can get it right through the audio box. Queues of cars bank up. Store level staff can’t do anything. App Support doesn’t exist - the link just takes to you Maccas genera webpage.
I have signed out and back in again. I have deleted the app and re-installed it. It still doesn’t work. I am using the oldest version of IOS still supported 18.7.9 so fix this glitch ASAP please! It’s already been an issue for me for this whole week.

Glitch in the Maccas App

Tried to pull up a code just now and came up with some location message, and no matter what I and the shift manager tried, it kept bringing up the message and not giving a code. And then I tried to lodge the order as a “missed” and only 1 per month can be logged. How stupid.

Horribly buggy

How is it an app made by such a big company can have so many active flaws? I tried to order delivery through the app and it glitched out, told me I needed to swap to pick up, charged me twice for my order and then told me it was going to be delivered. Why was I charged twice to begin with?

Worst APP

The app is incredibly slow and laggy, and I frequently encounter errors. Sometimes it’s so frustrating to use that I’d rather not place an order at all. Simple tasks take too long, and the constant delays make the whole experience unpleasant. I hope the developers improve the app’s performance because, at the moment, it’s not reliable or user-friendly.

Slow and full of bugs

Ridiculously slow to the point the app is now saying I have a poor internet connection (when I don't) on every network. I can't even login now. IPhone 15 Pro so not an old phone.
Full of bugs as well.
For a multi-billion dollar company they really need to get their act together with this app, and actually have performance improvements they say they do every update.

I ordered delivery through the app and my order didn’t come with an item. I contacted the help team only to be told that they couldn’t do anything about it and they wouldn’t give me a refund. I asked if I could push this higher but was told that they couldn’t. Honestly just take the time you would wait for your delivery to go and get it yourself.

Table service

Sometimes the Bexley staff happily serve at table with a big smile. Sometimes they just call out our table number and wait for us to collect the food in paper bags at counter. It’s not that we’re too lazy to collect. Our whole point to do table service is to get our food on a TRAY.
* even on quiet days we’ve experienced staff yelling out table numbers and when we get there to collect they just appear very sullen.
But it’s not all staff. Some days they’re just very good. Some days very grumpy.

I am writing this because I am sick to death of the 20-40 minute blow outs of the delivery times
The drivers pick the food or drinks up then continue to other suburbs to pick other orders up as the group orders.
Every single time this happens the careless drivers manage to tip your drink over destroying your food
So after an Average 1 hour wait you have a driver throw your food on your door step and you have to then spend 20 minutes on the phone to get a refund for the food you waited over an hour for…. If they literally did what they should be doing (with the delivery fee) is picking up a order and delivering it there more then won’t likely be any damage to your food and no 20-40 minute waits for them to go do a 4-10km trip to another suburb. It’s pathetic how they can get away with this and never ever get any backlash if any tradie or worker done this they would be absolutely slandered on social media the business page.

Update makes it even less usable

This has always been a poor-quality app. The wonder is they keep finding ways to make it worse. November 2025 update has made it _even more_ unresponsive and likely to crash. It takes _ages_ to make a simple order, as straightforward actions like scrolling a menu simply cause the phone to hang like you’re trying to use it underwater.
You now can’t search for menu items, and adding specials requires even more clicks. For example, there’s a $1 hash brown special. Try to add that to your bag. But you need to select an option — the one ‘option’ of a hash brown. This has always been an app with terrible reliability. It crashes between when you make an order and when you get to the restaurant. You try to start a new order, and the ghost of your previous order is still in your bag, waiting to be manually deleted. It automatically changes location of your order at random times, so you have to manually wrestle it back to the location you selected to begin with. Ugh

Billion dollar company can’t put money into their own app development

For an app made by such a massive company i don’t understand how it is one of the worst food ordering apps Ive ever used. It fails and glitches more often than it doesn’t. Every time I use it something goes wrong, loading times are a joke and the screen seems to change to whatever it feels like displaying at any given moment. every update i’m still waiting to see the supposed improvements. I’m constantly attempting to order food that i’m only told is unavailable once I’m at the final payment screen. the gps tracker that is supposed to work out when you are near the store is basically useless as well. A recommendation is that if the users card doesn’t have enough money on it for the transaction, let them know?? I’ve embarrassed myself a few times at the maccas payment window already because I thought my card went through, since, yknow, the app told me so. It’s nice that when you redeem a coffee though the alternative milk price is wiped for you. Makes it feel like a reward.

Fake Deals, Broken Promises

I’ve had enough of the MyMaccas app. It repeatedly advertises offers that simply don’t exist in reality. Most recently, the “Big Brekky Deal” was front and centre in the app’s offers section — yet not a single store anywhere nearby actually has it available. What’s the point of showing these deals if they can’t be redeemed?
This isn’t a one-off. It’s a recurring issue that makes the app feel more like a bait-and-switch than a useful tool. And let’s be clear — if an offer is not universally available, then the app should clearly and transparently state that. Don’t bury it in fine print or leave customers guessing.
Instead, McDonald's is allowing users to waste their time, drive to stores, and line up expecting deals that no store is honouring. It’s deceptive, it’s lazy, and it shows a complete lack of respect for customers. The entire purpose of the app — to make ordering easier and take advantage of exclusive deals — is undermined by this nonsense.
If you can’t ensure consistency across locations, then don’t advertise the offer. Simple.

MyMacca’s app wouldn’t show order details. Order was wrong

This app needs to be fixed. It’s clunky, slow and one of the worst applications to exist; which is crazy as it is owned by a billion dollar franchise. We ordered Maccas on the app at a busy time and went through the drive-thru, and the man at the window requested to our order as they were under the pump. But because this app is unpolished and fragmented, the order did not show up at all.
Nothing in Order Details or Previous Orders. Could see the points acquired for the order, but there was no information about the order that we had placed and waited for. And after waiting 20 minutes, the order was missing a burger. Not a big deal, but this entire situation could have been fixed if this application was usable. This app is slow, clunky and freezes OFTEN. I never relied on this app to be useful or helpful apart from a quick feed, but to be such an outdated application that it cannot give you your order details at all? New low for Maccas. DON’T. USE. THIS. APP

Basically I went to Mac as one time and the service was really bad we were doing drive through and they put in the wrong number if nuggets and blamed her for it then the man took her phone whitch seemed stingy but it was just to pay for the right amount of nuggets then refunded the wrong amount in coins and I didn’t write a review that day because I frogot you could anyway fast forward a bit and sconce it was still earlier in the month I remembered it quite clearly so I felt like writing a review so I went in google to by doing the link yada yada but you need or put in the date and time it happened whitch I didn’t know so I still haven’t written a review to maccas but I feel like if the app had a review system it would be really good cuz you could just press it and then to know the date it could tell you the previous times you have been there so you could select the most previous Ron if you hadn’t had it sconce then and the most previous one would be named previous

The app needs a simple way for customers to report missing or incorrect items.

I recently placed a home delivery order through the MyMacca’s app, and while the ordering process was smooth, things went downhill when my food arrived. One meal was missing from my order, and to my frustration, I couldn’t find any option in the app to report the mistake.
I received a text message with a phone number to call in case my order wasn’t delivered. Even though my issue wasn’t a delivery failure but an order error, I called anyway—only for no one to answer.
In the end, I paid a high delivery fee, got stressed, and still had to drive to McDonald’s myself to fix the mistake. It completely defeated the purpose of ordering delivery. The app needs a simple way for customers to report missing or incorrect items without all this hassle.

Could be great if you could order what’s available!

Can’t order McValue deals. Can’t choose chocolate soft serve on the app when it’s available in store (although it forces you to select vanilla even though it’s the only option). Says things are unavailable on the app when they’re available in store. Not sure why these are issues but if the app actually worked I’d give it 100%. I don’t bother anymore for these reasons - just order in store.
Breakfast - it tells me I can’t order breakfast items as it’s outside of breakfast hours… the breakfast hours apparently end at 10:30am and it’s telling me this at 7am Perth time… even in Sydney it would still only be 10am when it’s telling me this. Yet… you’d think when I’ve got location turned on and the fact I’m ordering from Maccas in WA that it would be able to work out the time! Pretty big flaw

With so much money, how did they end up with such a bad app? (update: still bad)

Update: a couple years later. I still can’t believe how absolutely bad this app is. How have they not fixed the bugs yet? Every time I come back in to make a new order, I have to cancel the previous order which I received days ago because it never leaves the app on its own. Ridiculous.
Original: As a programmer I am 100% sure I could make a far better app than this within a month. I’ve used it for a year or two now and it’s just constantly the worst app I’ve got. I don’t understand how it’s possible for it to be so unreliable.
The poor responsiveness, lag and constant glitches is just unreal. It seems like the app was built on a poor foundation and it’s probably impossible for them to fix as a result. Better to just trash it and start again. Give me access to the API and I’ll make you a better app for free.

Delivery feature and support is terrible

The rewards are good but the support feature is so basic. You have to call the Philippines in order to get help with your order and even at that they can’t help you until your order has been marked at cancelled or completed. I was told I would have to call back in over 1 hour because the driver had picked up my order, but he had already sat in the same place for 40 minutes. It was nearly midnight and they wouldn’t even call me back in the morning, I then had to call back myself. The first call took nearly 30 minutes for them to say they can’t help sorry. They need to update the support function to have chat available in situations like this. I hope my delivery driver enjoyed my meal and wasting my time! The most I got from Maccas was ‘we will make a note of your feedback’

Could use with more customisation options

I love this app and prefer ordering with it as it’s super quick, easy and you get rewarded with points but there’s a couple of things to do with customisation I would love to see updated - for example if you go to customise a cheese burger you have the ability to add tomato, lettuce, etc but when ordering a cheeseburger kids meal it doesn’t give you the same options. And depending on what meal you order the same problem applies for drinks too - some of the drinks are there but not in all sizes, and some aren’t there at all. I can order a coffee with a kids meal but not a hot chocolate which is bizarre to me! There’s more customisation options when ordering through Uber eats than the Maccas app itself which doesn’t make sense!

Reorders last meal automatically?

Many times now I will open the app and it jumps to reorders and says thanks for placing an order ! Thankfully you can cancel easily but it’s odd and needs to be fixed. There are also two maccas close to my house and i always have issues with it switching to the wrong one with out my knowing and I have to cancel and then reorder to correct one. I do like the app and all the specials but i feel it is trying to do too much and isn’t do it all well. Simple and working is better than complicated and glitchy . I would also like to place an online order and not need the phone nearby to pick it up. I once sent a friend to pickup my order but the order never completed because my phone wasn’t at the store to finalise .

Handy but mega performance and information architecture issues

This is probably one of my most used apps and it’s the one which frustrates me most. I find it super handy but its is superrrrr slooooow. Plus every time I have ordered and completed the order, the order does not clear and I have to then cancel it to make my next order. Sometimes the prices are displayed wrong even as far through as the checkout. Not sure how this gets past ACCC but anyway. Another frustrating thing is the way the information is laid out. Why can’t you just order a coffee and then say what size you want. Why do you have to hunt through the whole list of drinks to find different sizes of the same drink??? Also when you are ordering 2 meals of the same size but you want different drinks, you have to order them separately. Why can’t you just order a meal select the size sau you want quantity x 2 then customise one of them?? Very poor user experience.

You send me these emails to know why I am not frequenting your stores much. Well you do not make your ordering system user friendly for older customers it seems everything is about how fast you can push your orders out. It doesn’t matter if the coffee is the wrong strength, incorrect temperature, lacking in sugar and when the food order is “incorrect” to get it rectified the staff (and there are even fewer of them now) who are so busy pushing the next customer through that you wait even longer. Your service is not what it used to be and when you started using the app instead of the card punch - if you bought 4 coffees it was added to your card but now only 1 counts no matter how many you buy….
I don’t know why your staff should have to leave the store to deliver to cars waiting for their order so others can pick their orders up. I can’t see that being very safe at all.

Removing customisation options so we have to pay more for the same thing

Recently the Maccas app has removed the option to customise and add syrups to an iced latte. This is so they can charge you more for a “flavoured” iced latte or the extortionate price of a “deluxe iced coffee” which is again the same thing but adding almost $3 more for some whipped cream. The difference between getting an iced latte with syrup added vs a “flavoured” iced latte is about 30 cents which is much but considering they’re the exact same thing, it’s beyond a joke. And if you’re going to stop letting us add syrups to our iced latte you could at the very least allow us to choose a flavoured or deluxe iced coffee as part of our free coffee reward. Money hungry pigs have raised their prices more than enough yet still trying to find ways to screw their customers out of more money by removing very reasonable customisation options through the entire app. Bring back the syrups in an iced latte or at the very least stop charging extra money for something that literally doesn’t cost that much. You already charge 80 cents for syrups, making them cost $1.20 in a “brand new beverage, is pure corporate greed and you should be ashamed

Too many issues now

This app was great, super convenient until recently when it logged me out for no reason. I tried to log back in and it wanted to send a login link to my email - which I don’t have access to anymore. I had previously enquired about updating my email address and was basically told “nope we just don’t do that, you have to make a new account”. Why couldn’t I have the option to use my password instead of this link I can’t access? Lost 6000 points. So I created a new account and now it logs me out all the time and I can hardly ever log in, error message always saying there is issues on their end and to try again later or restart the app. I’ve tried that and it never makes a difference. Very very disappointed when this app used to be something so convenient to order a coffee and pay ahead of time through the app while earning points. But now I’m not even able to log in and can’t earn those points so why should I bother?

Stealing money on purpose. No support phone or email.

If i can do negative stars its will tell how worse they are. First minor problem is trying double charge customer by told customers to pay 1 more time at store by rude unprofessional untrained managers. Last order is trying swap my order from 1 item into big order I made last time and automatically charged.
The main thing you should stop using app is those unprofessional untrained manager is rude and dont care customer dont provide help and said buy through app sort by app. But you will only wasted your time to try contact them through app because never got a response but those (4 legs) will automatically said will contact you in 2 business days. Get a healthy burger and support local Australia business, big companies only do profits.
I think they do bug for this app on purpose of stealing money if every got the same go straight to ACCC and consumer protection.
The main things is they protect their franchise by trying ignore customers complaint even they give old food and drink with melt ice you cant ask for refund.
The service manager of McDonald’s is rude and unprofessional because you cant make feedback or complaint them to headquarters.

Worst delivery experience possible.

Some major issues with McDelivery.
1. The GPS for my address is completely wrong, it selects the next block over, which means the drivers get lost and take a very long time to figure out where I live.
2. Even though the delivery is through Doordash, you do not have the option to “drop a pin” on your correct address, like you can on the Doordash app. This would solve the first issue.
3. You can’t choose which McDonalds restaurant your food is delivered from. For some reason, it automatically chooses restaurants that are further away from my house, leading to delivery times of 30+ minutes, instead of 3-5 minutes if it selected the nearest restaurant to me
4. The entire reason I used the app to place my order for delivery was to redeem my rewards points. However, when I cancelled the order due to the other reasons listed above, I was refunded my money but I did not get any of my rewards points back. This was over $200 I’d spent in restaurant to accrue these points, and now they’re all gone. Support said there’s nothing they can do.
For such a massive corporation like McDonalds, I don’t understand why you have a watered-down doordash interface that leads to major issues.
I strongly advise to never, ever use this app for delivery service.

App changes pickup store without enough notice

It’s really frustrating that after selecting a store and placing my order, the app changes the store without me knowing. It then goes to the select take away/in store screen, and then finally that the order is placed. I only realise after that the order has changed to another store and there’s no option for me to cancel it. This has happened to me twice - once I ordered for McDonald’s Wynyard Station, but the order changed to the nearby McDonald’s QVB, and the second time I ordered for McDonald’s QVB, but the order changed to the nearby McDonald’s Westfield Sydney City as I was walking to the stores. This was so frustrating both times as I was not able to go to the changed store. There needs to be a clear button to advise that the store is being changed and an option to cancel immediately.

Disgusting Company

Will not be purchasing from McDonald’s again, and will be leaving a negative review on every single restaurant in the country, I have the time to spare. I have an app account with A LOT of points and I was logged out when I reset my phone. Suddenly my password wouldn’t work, and it forced a reset. I don’t have access to that email address anymore. I emailed dozens of times over months to ZERO response, at all. Finally found a number I could ring and was told by a very disinterested woman that there’s NOTHING they can do. Can’t reset for me, can’t verify for me, can’t change email, can’t transfer points. Truly abhorrent quality from such a big company. For context, I’ve had zero issue with this exact problem with other accounts, emailing or calling and verifying some basic details is always enough. Not here. I usually only purchase (& am thoroughly disappointed by) McDonald’s when there’s no other option, but that will not be happening anymore and it is genuinely more loss to them than it is to me as it will not be missed.

Inspiring in an uninspiring situation

‪Last year I got hella mad at your automated system and when my family’s order was missing many items and there was absolutely no counter service at all to rectify the issue all workers were very flat out busy filling orders and staff were ignoring me trying to get someone’s attention politely who worked there because my number was already called and I received my order so maybe assuming I was a potential Karen I don’t know but I was completely ignored altogether so as a result I decided there on from that day to stop supporting automated industry’s including all fast food and you know what happened??? Possible data breach and unhelpful service

On Sunday night, I got charged for a meal at about 11pm in NSW. Problem is… I live in Perth AND that night I only used the app to get points for the rewards… at about 9:30PM and paid with cash, no orders. I first tried calling my bank, they told me it was a maccas issue. I called the restaurant that I was apparently charged from, I was not on the system. I tried calling the restaurant that I visited. They refused to check and told me to contact through the app. I tried contacting but you need to fill out a form/survey and you’d be contacted within 2 business days. I did that… twice. Not only did I not get called back after 3 days, but I was emailed asking how my “contact” was. I feel someone has gone into the servers and used it to order foods from different accounts and now I cannot trust this app and the company to keep us safe and to help solve the issues. I will be disconnecting my card from this service.

Not worth it

This app is an embarrassment to this company. It is horrible to use and is just not user friendly at all. There is such a long list of things wrong with it where do I start. It literally doesn’t work every time you want to use it. Not to mention that it requires wifi when often when you are travelling there is none. Every family member has to have the app to get the deals so that means your 4 year old has to have a phone if they want the daily deal of a cheeseburger meal. With all the resources you have you couldn’t come up with a better app then this? The app is much like the service at Maccas lately very poor standard, completely disorganised and rarely do the staff actually know how to use the very complicated registers they have if you need their help even the managers and the self serve kiosks are an absolute joke. Only working 50% of the time. So basically you can’t order from Maccas at all. Such a disgrace

New phone the app hates

Always enjoyed the app until I recently bought a new iPhone. I tried to open the app. Didn’t work with my password. I tried to reset it but every time I went to validate my account with the email. Nothing worked. I only received an error message which flickered up in the screen saying oops something went wrong and it went again. Tried to set up a new account and the same thing happened again. The app is up to date and I even tried on my computer to validate. Nothing. Emailed maccas for help. Email came back from them and was gone before I could even read it. Checked everywhere and no reply to be found in any folder and no reply after that. Not happy. I have so many monopoly vouchers to use and now I’m missing out. Lucky being in Queensland I won’t win a big prize. Least this will help me to stop eating maccas. The push I needed to improve my health.

Watch out and make sure you’re not charged twice

This has happened 5 times to me so far since the app’s release. I order and pay through the app, check-in with staff at the drive thru speaker, and then get told that payment was declined. So, holding up the queue, I check my banking app for the payment method used, and display proof of payment. Every time a a manger will explain the payment will be refunded and to pay again to get the order, except every single time they have been wrong and the payment is processed as usual some time later depending on your bank. It’s appalling because proof of payment should be enough to have a manager use the ‘promo’ button on the register and put the order through, and take a note for later as to why this was done. This would be a far easier process for everyone in case of payment errors and avoid needless arguing and use of customer service resources later.

Best fast food ordering experience

Pretty much all other fast food apps could learn from this one. It’s by far the most usable experience and takes into account user experience as part of the apps usage. It makes it significantly easier rather than being clunky.
Only real issue is just feedback that the way the drinks are ordered when selecting a drink is a bit weird and can be a little annoying sometimes. Otherwise it stands head and shoulders above other competing apps in terms of usage and the understanding that the app is used for drive thru pickup predominantly with large easy to use buttons and easy to read codes and text.

Worst app set up ever

So I ordered on the app, put the payment through. Figured my husband could pick up but no, it picks up your location so you yourself have to be there. Husband sent home, I head out.
It doesn't make it in advance, they only start making it when you get there. Why bother using the app then if it doesn't make a difference at all.
Additionally I paid in the app, I get there, have to pay again. Now I have to wait at the back of the queue and after 15 mins of waiting I finally get my order.
I'll be deleting the app as we speak - collossal waste of time and effort not to mention I actually had to wait longer than had I just ordered through the drove through. FAIL.

Stop changing my pick up store!!!

Dear Macca’s, when I place an order and select a specific store, I want to pick from that store, not some random store simply because they’re close to me!!!
I live near Southland VIC, there’re 3 stores in that area, 2 in the Southland shopping mall, one on the outside of the mall, near the corner of neapean hwy and jamerson st. Every time I choose to pick up from the one outside the mall it changed it to the store at Lv3 food court in Southland simply because the absolute distance is shorter. How stupid is that???? It takes me 15 mins to find parking and go inside the mall, while takes me 3 mins to drive to the one outside the mall.
Yes I know sometimes when I select pick up it pops up a prompt saying the PRICE of my order has been changed, while it actually means the pick up store has been changed to the lv3 store, and there’s no way seeing that without clicking on the review button.
Today I wasted 30 mins of my time bouncing between the two stores trying to pick up my order, and I ended up going home empty handed because the app kept changing my pick up store to the food court one while they’re not open because they’re short of staff!!!!
This ‘smart’ feature is absolutely the worst ever, I know which store I choose when I place an order, please don’t treat me as an idiot.

Extremely frustrating

Edit to update: I had 2/3 free frappe’s in my rewards I upgraded to the new rewards and now I have none and it says I have none!!!!
This so isn’t fair!!!!
The app although over the years has very very slowly slightly improved is so full of bugs and glitches it makes you want to smash your phone. Including but not limited to the fact I received a email receipt for my “order” that I’d never made. Someone somehow had managed to log into my app account make a order and pay..... on the other side of Melbourne. It was also recorded in my previous order. They also used my discount. When alerted head office honestly sounded like they couldn’t care less. It constantly crashes, takes forever to load, looses rewards, doesn’t save customised orders as ordered or process them as they were entered. It drives me insane.

Convenient, but could be better

It’s mighty convenient to order ahead and to be able to see what you’re ordering, and be given the invoice. Also daily rewards/deals are great and remembering your last order(s). The main trouble I have with it, is somehow the previous order is not finalised and captured in the app somehow. Which I don’t know if it’s me as a user not doing something to close it, or if it hasn’t been completed in store. Which isn’t a huge problem, but it is when in that order a deal was claimed. Because those deals are usually only good for once customer once, and for one day, I’m left with an item that technically does not exist, and it simply won’t remove it even if I try to remove it from my order.
Which means, now I’ve got to use the old way if I want to order anything at Maccas or uninstall the app and reinstall it again.
Please fix. This is such a dumb problem.

Overly complicated app that is painful

Should make it easy and cheap to order McDonald’s. However it causes lots of frustration to me. First every time I open the app it asks if I want to enable notifications, the answer is no, it will always be no, give me an option to say ‘don’t ask again’.

My personal toy troubles.

First off to remain anonymous, You shall call me Mc zacco the wakko. I am a male over the age of 15 and Early on Saturday morning, the birds we chirping, children were playing and I thought I was in the mood for a happy meal. I walked in into the restaurant with my head held high, knowing I would get not only a mediocre meal, but also a limited edition toy based off the widely know and appreciated movie “space jam: a new legacy”. Unknown to me, the employees the there had a vendetta and when I requested a happy meal (with a toy, not a book for I am not child) on the digital ordering machine, the employees jumped at their chance to make my life miserable. In the back rooms, they were laughing at my expense, and rudely decided they would not fulfill my wishes and instead have a cruel humorous moment by not adding in the collectable figure. The cashier took my well earned money knowing that it would not go towards what I wanted, and handed my the bag with full knowledge that all was in it was the 6 McNuggets and the Mc chips while showing her wicked smile. I was oblivious to this hate crime from them while I walked out the building with excitement for what looney tune I would get, until I got to my vehicle and looked. I immediately broke into tears, falling to the ground. I hoped I had just seen it wrong, but atlas, there was no toy. This put me into a deep depression. If maccas doesn’t care about me, who does? I have gone to therapy since to try and get over this, but it’s not working. I can’t get over this fear and dread. If anyone from McDonald’s is reading this, I urge you to send me the collection of looney tunes to ease my mental pain and get my life back on track. It’s the only way. I only hope this doesn’t happen to another unsuspecting victim who has less mental power than I do.

Buggy app and poor customer service

Very very disappointed with the myMaccas app and McDonalds customer service. Earlier this year I noticed a payment of around $50 made in Adelaide (I have never been) and I also live on the Gold Coast QLD. I deleted my cards from the app preventing further payments and changed the password. A couple of days later the same happened again for about the same amount of money. So I was very confused, as I took all the measures I could to prevent this from happening again. Next I contacted McDonalds support to inform them that they have had a security breach in their system (only way this is possible - you can only sign in through an app, so they can't have swiped my password, but regardless I have changed the password. I also deleted the cards from the app so further payments would be impossible) So how is it possible that they signed in and and payments using my card that wasn't there anymore? I requested a refund and McDonalds refused, and not only that they suggested it was my fault due to my password getting out - which isn't possible. They also informed me that there were no known hacks or security breaches - although I was telling them there was! Very disappointed with the service and trust of such a large business.

Very misleading.

Wife and I took advantage of the 50 cent cheese burger for its first day promotion. Firstly it’s only one per person so we used both our phones. Of course two cheeseburgers wouldn’t satisfy us so we ordered additional two chicken burgers and nuggets totalling over $25. Wife needs to look after baby so I get a snap shot of her order and go through drive though only to be told that we both need to be present there. After wasting petrol and time to go there there was no way for the manager to allow that extra 50 cent cheeseburger with my $26 worth of food. One cheeseburger for 50 cent NOT ALLOWED but using the app. Where does it say that I can’t use my wife’s screen shot of her purchase. Wouldn’t a large company’s marketing team who came up with this stupid app think that this might happen to not just me but others as well. This is the last time I go Maccas for a very long time just because of this cheeseburger

The difference between skim and trim milk...

I am very flabbergast that some staff are not aware of the difference in the fat content in milk and don’t really care if they get the order wrong...I am a loyal customer of many years and now with Covid using the drive thru is a pure frustration as at times my coffee is made on trim and not skim milk as stated on the order...we did some 1800 klms in 30 hours and went to Atherton drive thru this morning for my daily coffee fix and was given trim milk instead of skim milk...so so disappointed...I am tired of being ripped off when this happens as quarter strength coffee is not a cheap habit if you buy 2 - 3 a day/7 days a week...Thumbs up to Nthn Bchs McCafe, Townsville as finally got the coffee that I had ordered...Coffee Addict...

Love the app but it has issues

I have been using this app for a while now. Love being able to preorder and pay and also receiving rewards eg free coffee.
I have two frustrations with it though:
* Just about every time I use it I receive a message when adding the first item for that session that I did not check out properly last session. This occurs even though I have paid for the previous order and I wait until after I have received that oder before exiting the app.
* My local store doesn’t update availability of products in a timely manner. eg we purchase coffees with lactose free milk. Our local store has lactose free milk nearly all the time but one time it was not available and this was indicated on the app, however it remained unavailable for months on the app even though it was available when I asked at the drive through.

Too many ads & upselling and bugs

No I don’t want fries or a sundae with my order. And I don’t want to be repeatedly told about your McMonopoly or whatever your current promotion is, I know what I want to order and I just want to order my freaking food.
Your latest pop up ad for Monopoly obviously wasn’t tested enough as it is buggy. I had to force close and re-open the app and even then it didn’t immediately realise I was at the store - actually standing at the counter and it didn’t realise.
Apart from this bug the app takes way too long after selecting your method of payment before it comes up with the next screen that lets you select eat in/drive thru/counter pickup, and then takes another 30 seconds to get your order number. Why isn't it as quick to use the app or in-store ordering kiosk as it is at the counter?
Very limited options to customise a burger - why can't I change or add things to my burger with all the options that counter staff can on the cash register? This regularly stops me from buying a more expensive burger to customise - I just settle with a simple (cheap) burger as you don’t seem to want my money to add things to a burger.

Crappy App for mobile ordering

I will never use this app again for mobile ordering. It simply does not work well. I have experienced all the same issues as the previous reviews. Both my husband & I have also had an issue whereby we had tried to do a new order & for some reason the previous order was still there which had been purchased and paid for weeks ago. We were unable to delete and do a new order. Both orders were reordered by us just opening the app & trying to do a new order. The staff have no idea how to use the app or help you. So the only way to get rid of the order was to delete the app & re-install it. You also cannot remove yourself credit card details. It’s an absolutely useless app. They really need to make a lot of improvements.

Double dipping charging you and then saying error

A few times now I have tried ordering over my App. Used to work fine but this past few months when ordering I get an error or the drive though staff member says payment didn’t go through. I get charged again at window to discover that money was taken out via app from my bank account and I have been charged twice for the same meal. Today I got a strange error different then usual about payment and card. So thought something was wrong my end. I entered a new credit card number and details to discover a few hours latter I have been charge multiple times on my app every time the process error card came up. Plus I had to pay again over epos in store due tot he delay in order history error business. Not happy and I can’t get reimbursed according to the McDonald’s staff member when I returned after I discovered the over charge as they won’t accept the Apps confirmation of orders and price they want it directly through bank statements that I can’t get instantly as credit cards where used. Very annoying.

Doesn’t Work All the time

This app is suppose to make service faster and improve convenience. The app works in Sydney fine but every time I use it at Wallsend it never recognizes that Iam at the location and a simple coffee can take over half an hour where I cannot use the app to pay. I have to pay out of pocket, lucky had money with me. What an inconvenience when you have an appointment. Purchased two coffees & missed out on my rewards. Oh by the way still got the wrong. Very disappointed with this app as it has happened on many occasions when in a hurry. Better off doing old fashion way & order & pay in store. Or go to a real cafe and pay less!

Paid for my coffees twice.

I LOVE McDonald’s coffee & was travelling over the Blue Mountains last Thursday. I ordered my 2 coffees on the app. When I arrived at the Blaxland restaurant my phone said there had been an issue & to show a staff member the message with the reference number. When I did this the lady said ‘I don’t know what that means’ & went to ask someone what to do. When she returned I had to pay the $10 so I assumed my order hadn’t gone through the app. Later when looking at my bank accounts I noticed that I had been charged on my credit card. I’m not worried about the $10 but just thought you may be able to prevent this somehow from happening to other customers.

Very buggy

Great app when it works, a vast improvement on previous versions, but currently I’ve noticed the following problems:
- Orders are not sent to the restaurant because the app keeps saying “Hmm looks like you’re not near one of our restaurants” (while standing at the counter). Refreshing app does nothing to help. Does this randomly - some days it works perfectly, other days it keeps referring me to speak to a staff member.
- Staff members seem untrained with how to respond to the above scenario, and the majority look bewildered and ask me if I’ve paid yet (when I can’t tell because I’m not sure if the app has taken my payment yet or not).
- When ordering drinks such as coffee, the customise options (e.g. ‘almond milk’, ‘soy milk’, ‘hazelnut flavoured syrup’) don’t appear, but the flavours for other drinks do (‘raspberry’ etc.) No, I do not want raspberry flavoured coffee, thank you very much.
- I think the above issue has also translated to the Uber Eats app menu?
- When reordering a favourite item such as a large meal with a drink (e.g. coffee) and part of that order is unavailable (e.g. soy milk) the app asks you to change your drink choice, but it won’t save your selection, so it’s impossible to submit the change.
- When ordering a single item and you want to make it a meal (e.g. a bacon and egg burger, with a coffee and hash brown), the option to upgrade to a meal doesn’t appear, so you can only order the single item, as the meal deal does not appear in the menu as an option either.

Painful. Only one good thing

Besides a free coffee after every 5 more than a few things wrong - I open the app and it brings me to my last order and wants to add new items to the last order. Why? New day, new order.
Drinks are totally unorganised when ordering through a meal. Drinks aren’t in order of size nor variety. Developer, please find me a medium iced latte in less than 30 secs.
They’ve removed being able to add Big Mac sauce to certain burgers. What if I want BMS on my mcchicken. Stop limiting me to what I can do and open my options. It’s called upselling!
Why do I need to update every 2 weeks? It’s a bit beyond the joke. Do the people who made this app even use it. You update and nothing that’s wrong with it changes.
This app was made to create convenience, to speed things and ultimately, remove the cost of employment. If your gonna take people’s jobs then at least do it well. The only reason I use it is to get a free coffee.

Glitchy

The apps menu to actually order food isn’t straight forward, especially when adding additional items. It’s not a straight forward process navigating from your order to “order more” why is there a home page and an order page? Why do you need both? I keep getting the frustrating message “if you add this you will clear your cart” why?
The app also constantly bring up my last order with the link to click saying “I’m already here” and shows items in my cart. I’ve tried to click through it so I can start a new order, and it ordered both!! Charging me for a whole extra meal! (Brisbane airport store). Now I’m extra careful and have to restart the app multiple times to clear ready for a new order.
I like the rewards and some of the streamlining features of the app (ie last order), but it’s clunky, glitchy, and the user interface could use with some more development.

Great idea badly done with big flaws

It looks pretty, but it’s bad. Really bad.
Shakes keep displaying an error, and when I’ve checked in store they say there is no problem with shakes. So if I want a shake I’d have to go to the store and start a new order over the counter, just for the shake. Defeats the purpose of the app. Others report being overcharged on related issues.
Location defaults to where you are, NOT where you select. Be warned even after re-selecting the location it can automatically select back to the closest store not your selected store and it’s impossible to change.
Overall inefficient and poorly done. I could write my order down and email it to Santa Claus for Xmas delivery faster than using this app.
I also object to the forced marketing promotions selection to install the app. I question how this mandatory marketing promotions sign up doesn’t breach consumer laws.
There’s also no support available, so if anything goes wrong there’s noting you can do but go to a store - and in my experience be told “it’s your problem “my store” didn’t write the app, you’ll have to take it up with head office” - but how?? There’s no support line!
Overall really poor show with an aggressive approach from a dominant anti competitive player. Could do much better with a different approach and a different attitude.

Why is it so bad?

I was an early adopter of the app and I’ve been waiting for it to get better, but alas, it continues to be glitchy and cause problems for me and the restaurant staff. The biggest problem seems to be that when I go to place an order the app hasn’t reset from my last order, thus when I try to select an item and I get a message asking me if I want to “reopen my cart”. This means that I have had instances where I have turned up at the store and the staff there have told me I have two identical orders, other times where I have redeemed my free coffee, and there is also a second coffee in my order which I had not selected to put in my cart and they’ve had to refund me for. I just don’t get how hard it can be to create an app that works?! You are McDonald’s, not some little Mum & Dad operation. I use apps all the time for a range of businesses and by far this is the worst one I use. I only put up with it for my loyalty coffee. Perhaps you need to find some better developers? Yeah?

Rude Staff member and manager

I thought I was told to go to the first window to pay, when I got there it was full of trolleys so I waited a few seconds and thought I heard wrong and drove to the next window. The staff member was upset with me, as I tried to explain why I drove she cut me off and got more angry, she took my debit card and told me to drive to the next window, I wasn’t happy about leaving her with my card, it’s not the first time I’ve been charged twice for the same item but never complained. 3 Times I asked for my card and each time I was told to drive to the next window.
I drove to the next window got my order and card back.
I only live 2 minutes away, when I got home I rang to complain, I asked to speak to the manager, I only just started to explain what happened and she hung up on me...
Seriously????
I went last night after a double shift at work, it was around 3am and pouring heavily with rain and was told I had to go inside to order no explanation given?? I had to ask to be told computer is down.
Please if you want to employ very young people, give them the appropriate necessary training!!!!!

Not Okay

The app has been working fine for me up until a few days ago. I tried ordering a large hot chocolate and when i clicked to collect it take away it would try processing and would say error and that i am not in ‘location’ when i clearly was. I then tried multiple times to get it and it eventually would not work. Before i left the store i checked my bank account and was shocked to see that the maccas app was trying to charge me for 19 large hot chocolate. That is about $95. The next day i was at mcdonald’s again and tried ordering a quarter pounder with the reward ‘$3 mclassic burger’ add bacon which was all up $4 it then came up with the same processing error and then i tried again and once again i checked my bank account and i am being charged for 2 $3 quarter pounders add bacon. When i went onto the app and looked at my recent orders the hot chocolate and quarter pounder were not there. Now when i went on today it says that i did get a hot chocolate and quarter pounder. I never received either of them. So overall i am being charged over $100 for items i never got and i have no idea who to contact.

Different and perhaps difficult

I was quite pleased with the previous app and was expecting the update to perhaps improve and personalise the app but that isn’t the case. The new app takes time to get your head around but I ‘thought’ I could order a coffee etc at the counter and scan my QR image so the purchase would count towards my loyalty card or when Maccas send me a ‘reward’ for providing feedback that I’d be able to redeem it through the app but that’s not how it works either. So it seems the three ordering options are not universal within the restaurant. Obviously some more work to do on the app.
I certainly appreciate being able to order from the table and have my meal delivered although it would be even more convenient to redeem rewards whilst ordering other items.
