Works as intended, I think the only disappointing thing is if you look at it too often it’s like it only gives you a certain amount of data per day. If you frequently look at the app eventually it will time out for the day. Apart from that, it’s perfect

Keeps locking me out
The app was working fine until about 2 weeks ago. Keeps locking me out. Provides no in time power use and solar export. Works until about 10.00am then nothing until the end of the day. I have done everything possible to rectify the problem to no avail. Even deleting app and then reinstalling with password. Nothing happens. It’s a useful tool but when it is operating but over the last few weeks it’s pointless. When I accessed the system this morning it was telling me I was using 8kw yet I had no power on. Judging from the comments it’s not the only problem with this app. Thank god I don’t have a battery. Should not happen in these days. Awful.

Awful app
I think 1star is generous. It’s logged me out for days at a time.
When I try to log in it says it doesn’t recognise my password.
Try to reset the password and it sends a one time PIN to my email.
Enter the email and PIN and it says my email doesn’t exist. SO HOW DID YOU SEND ME A PIN THEN???
And then a couple of days later, I’m logged in again. Without doing anything.
Oh and the dashboard is often a day behind.
Someone said support was being run by children. I think I child could do a better job.

Very Poor
I’m not IT savvy. So I don’t know why the instruction videos won’t play, I can’t work out why it says I’m connected to the WIFI but I’m also ‘offline’, I don’t know why it says it will email me a security code and then doesn’t. The presentation of information either assumes prior knowledge of the entire system which I shouldn’t think is necessary, or it uses shorthand terms that the non-professional won’t be able to properly distinguish from other terms. I suspect English may have been a second language to the app designers, but I’m not sure about this. Sungrow, this should be so easy to make better. Please make it better.

Currently unusable
Opening the app this morning it tells me an update is needed. Click update now button it takes me to the App Store, but there is no update option, all I see is “Open”. Click on that I’m back to the now unusable app. When it did work half the time it wouldn’t refresh properly. Junk.

I can see in real time how the system performs. That’s it. It gives poor statistical data, and does not allow me to predict the energy bill. Worse, I can’t even trust this earning figure - is that a roll of a dice?

Marc was amazing. Contacted Sungrow using the chat function looking to arrange connectivity to ISolarCloud for our old system. Marc’s service was quick and sorted it straight away. Within 2 days had the part I needed and grateful for the assistance. Would recommend Sungrow to anyone just for their service. Great work.

Good but…
The app is quite good but like others I have a problem with it often showing as disconnected. I can’t work out if it is the app or the wifi dongle in the inverter. My installer keeps telling me the usual that it must be an issue with my wifi - it isn’t. It’s almost next to the inverter and everything in my house is fine. I have a funny feeling the inverter is connected to my wifi and it’s actually the iSolarCloud itself that is down (given all the other reviews this seems possible) as my installed logs in remotely and says it’s fine - but they could only log If it’s connected !? Who knows… can someone fix this as it looks like many of us have this issue

This is the second year, I have had this app. Last year, it went offline and again this year. What’s the point of having usage recorded. Getting it rebooted, it’s a nightmare. Don’t even know how it came back on last year. Follow the instructions and still can’t get it working. It goes offline, the same time every year.

Its ‘ok’ lots of work to make it good
The UX/UI improved significantly in 2023, the most annoying issues now are
#1 the app forces you to re-start to see day-day changes. Open the app and check metrics on 16th sept, come back on the 17th and the only way to get metrics for 7th is to kill and re-start the app.
#2 each view seems to have its own set of variables, each requiring its own API call to refresh, you can get shown 3 different battery charge values until you manually force each view to refresh.
#3 the application defaults to data for the last date you triggered a refresh rather than being smart and saying ‘am i being viewed interactively? Has it been longer than X since i last refreshed? Refresh automatically’, any user of this app will be continually triggering manual data refreshes
@sungrow , All in all, still feels like a app written by a software engineer for a software engineer rather than an app written with an ‘end user’ in mind. Might be good if the dev team got some user feedback - perhaps poll their user base for suggestions, or bring in a UX consultant…

Still Horrible
I have been using the Sungrow inverter and iSolar app for about 4 years at 2 different houses/locations now.
It’s still terrible .
Constantly disconnects .
Takes hours to reconnect.
So t know why I bother, it will be disconnected in the next few days all over again.
Only works on 2.4GHz. But it can never find the 2.4 - and when it does it won’t connect.
Happened at my last house too.
The app is not user friendly or easy to navigate.
I would have thought when I bought a new house and a new solar power system that the app and the connecting dongle would have improved in 4 years.

Everting else I Talent Boost house runs fine on this wifi. It’s a strong super signal and I have a great internet speed.

Daily Supply Charge please
Please put an option for daily supply charge. Current revenue calculation is useless and doesn’t mean anything without supply charge and it needs to stop taking into account solar use. We just want to know what our bill is going to be not some magic number that means nothing.

As an electrician since 1968, (retired now), I was very impressed with the quality & workmanship of the 3 men. 2 men on the roof installing the solar panels, & Chris in the ceiling installing the wiring in conduit, then mounting the inverter, & connecting the panel wiring to the inverter. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants solar installed.

Worst app design ever
Just did an update that it wouldn’t let me skip. Now I can’t even open the app. It keeps saying there is an update available and then when I go to the App Store I have the current updated version. Well done app developer. You have really excelled this time. Oh well. At least I don’t have to keep changing my solar system size every time I access the app now. Because I can’t access it any more. We just keep going from strength to strength.

Has potential but needs work
The overview graphic is pretty good and for some people that might be enough.
However, it’s the data that needs work. The ‘revenue’ data is very misleading. It seems to be the savings that have been made by having solar ie the difference between if you had bought all of the power versus what you bought minus that sold to the grid. IMO, revenue should be as simple as value of what you sold to grid minus what you bought.
The ‘earnings’ data is even more confusing. It is the ‘revenue’ described above (which is the savings you’ve made by having solar) minus the purchase cost. Why report this metric??
And why on earth is there no daily supply charge field?
The app has the potential to provide lots of great info but instead it reports some really odd metrics which aren’t useful to anyone. Developers - please fix this!

Need to access international server
The app forces me to use the Australian server (as I’m in Australia), but my solar plant is connected to the international server. Because of this the app always shows my plant as offline. I can however see my plant data through a web browser using the international (hk) server. Or else through the old iSolarhome app.
Suggest to developers that they allow people to access the international server rather than forcing to other servers.

Better but still not good
When we first installed our solar in Brisbane 20 months ago, this app was a joke. Nothing made any sense. I stopped using it and relied on my provider to tell me feed-in and consumption numbers. Since the redesign it’s a lot better but some of the graphs are still pretty bad. But I can live with that.
What I cannot live with is that the devs do not seem to understand how to calculate what they call ‘day earnings’. It’s a simple calculation a 5 year old can do: energy purchased minus energy sold = day earnings (or costs in most instances with the abysmal feed in tariffs). The revenue calc is all over the shop. Purchase costs is correct but how on earth they calculate the revenue from feed in is beyond me. I’ve seen some cloudy days where the revenue shows a feed in tariff of $1.22. Other days it’s 25 cents, 19 cents. I get 4 cents from my provider. And that’s in the tariff settings of the app. Why not use it?

Good app but needs abit of work
The new interface looks great. Needs more data to be able to track overall cost such as Retailer Supply tariff. Desperately needs an Apple iPhone widget so you can just glance at your screen to see if it is a good time to turn on the washing machine or charge your EV. Hope it continues to be updated and things like this added in the future.

Thanks for your app, that for the most part, does a solid job of telling me what my solar array & inverter & grid connection is doing.
Can you please add a ‘daily connection fee’ option (that my electricity provider charges me) so your app will calculate my revenue correctly? Also, I have triple checked that I’ve entered my FIT correctly but it never calculates it correctly ..it’s always too high & i cannot work out how that’s possible 🤔 …it’s a straight forward calculation… for example 30kWh exported times by my FIT ($0.12 AUD per kW/h) = $3.60 AUD …but it will calculate it as $5 or more …this one is driving me bananas 🥴

Great info - quick summary & detailed analysis
Have had my new sungrow system in for a few months. This app is very good for performance monitoring and more detailed analysis. It has a clean summary page and heaps of data to dive into. Very impressive! (iSolarCloud web portal also works well).
But suggestions to developers:
- recent problem started: dashboard is not rolling over each morning in our GMT+10 time zone (have to close and reopen app every day)
- numbers are way too small on the overview page on my iPhone (eg battery % is about 2mm high but there is still heaps of empty white space on the page to allow much larger fonts)
- add ability to control basic battery functions to the app (ridiculous that I have to contact the installer to make ANY changes to battery parameters or actions)
- reverse the recent layout change and put the “Energy Analysis” graph back to the top of the “Dashboard” page

Terrible app, now more complicated than ever
I agree with previous reviews about the feed in & out tarrifs. The latest update seems have made it more complicated to view the data as well. My parents loved the circle diagram which made it easier for them to have an overview. Now it’s just a app that is too complicated to get data from and if you have the ability to understand the way the data is presented it still doesn’t actually give you any useful information.

Was a good app but not now
I only ever used the newly designed UI which was good, I had no issues with the user ability or reliability. It had professional looking graphs and if you wanted a deeper level of data on your solar generation / usage you could find it. That is until the update at the beginning of April. The app has gone backwards big time as the graphs have been removed along with the summary analysis they provided and access to data has gone. There are now child like line graphs that are rough looking and Worse still the app is reporting the feed in and consumption energy the wrong way around. I actually researched if there was a way to go back to the previous version and there isn’t unfortunately so we are stuck with the broken app unless sungrow revert back to the last version

So much potential, such a let down
The latest update is a step backwards in functionality. The useful pie charts of energy consumption are gone. Self consumption is gone. Feed in power and purchased energy on the daily energy page are swapped around and this stupid app shows the money earned from the feed in tariff and the money saved from self consumption as one number. I’d love to see them split so I could at least compare the feed in earned against my power bill. My power company gives me more useful data than this stupid app. Wake up Sungrow, listen to the people and give them what they want.

Last update was a downgrade
Despite some poor reviews, I find the app quite good. Gives me the information I want and I’m very happy with Sungrow
The update three days ago, however is flaky as it removes a lot of the summary information and also incorrectly swaps purchased energy and feed in energy

100% improvement
I never really had as much as an issue with the App as many others, but did want to see better the readouts that were displayed and check some fictions that were missing.
The latest interface update has pretty much fixed all the issues I have had. I can easily see what my battery charge is at and cart its charge and recharge cycles. I can easily set special charge and discharge settings and times, and I can track when I’m using the most electricity. What else would anybody want from it?

App no longer enjoyable to use after update
This is a delayed review. Loved the app before it was updated months ago. I don’t use it anymore. This app has gone the way of many apps this year. Updating for the sake of updating and destroying a perfectly good UI.
It is exasperating. And there is no easily accessible customer service to address these complaints to. What a world we have created. We’re all wasting precious time navigating apps that were supposed to enhance our lives not waste our time. Life is short. It’s time to wind the clock back and adopt the old school ways of getting things done. Pen and paper and using your 5 senses.

Useful App can be improved
Overall I find the app to be useful, but it could also be better.
1. It calculates ‘revenue’ as ‘electricity sold’ plus the value of ‘electricity self-consumed’ based on your retailer’s tariff. The latter is a cost that has been avoided, rather than a component of revenue. So I think this calculation would be better characterised as “value of production”.
2. It calculates ‘earnings’ as ‘revenue’ minus ‘cost of electricity purchased’. I don’t think this is a very useful measure and is confusing or misleading. I would prefer to see simple cash-flow, so ‘cost of sales’ minus ‘cost of purchases’, as this would help with estimating upcoming bills. It could go a step further by estimating “current” bills by including supply charges and billing periods, information that can be input by users.
3. It would be great to have a widget, that shows the summary. This would save having to log into the app to see whether it is a good time to turn on a load like charging an EV or using a heater etc. it would be handy to be able to tell by glancing at the screen on a smartphone.

Don’t like the upgraded app
I have been using this app for about 3 years, loved it. I could see what was being produced and used by the hour.
However since the recent update I can’t work out how to view the real-time information. The new app isn’t as user friendly in my view and even after looking at the how to I still can’t get the same information I used to get. According to the new app I’m always buying from the grid even on a very sunny day and I would usually by exporting during this time. When I check with my electric company app yes I am exporting, but this app doesn’t relay that same information. Is there any way I can get the old version of the app back. Don’t like this new one

Okay but could do so much more.
The weather doesn’t show local weather and there is no where to change it.
The actual revenue is wrong and there is no where to change it in the update.
Apart from that, it is great to see the actual solar production in relatively real time. I like the graphics to show the total production.

Utter rubbish
Worked for a few days then locked me out. Nothing about my account was changed, it just suddenly failed to recognize my login details. Deleted and reinstalled twice but would not allow me to complete the registration process as it did not send verification key. Can’t contact support as the developer requires you to log into your account to do this. From the other reviews I have read it is quite evident that support is non existent any way.
Ok, I have been unable to access data for months so I thought I would install the update and try again. No. The updated management software gives you no way to reconfigure the communicator. My only option is to delete everything and start from scratch. This will mean I will lose eight months of data.

The new UI is all form no function
The update to the UI took away all the best parts of the overview screen and replaced them all with a useless ‘fancy’ & ‘modern’ animation. I don’t want animations I want the statistics on how much power I have used, sold, purchased and generated exactly like you had before you decided to update the app to look better and become absolutely useless.
Please for the love of god give us an option to turn back on the information around our yields. Why would you remove this just because you updated the animation of where the power is flowing. Who ever approved this change needs to have a talk to their customers and try to understand why we use the app in the first place.

UI Upgrade
With the UI upgrade, it’s Much easier to understand the solar energy being generated and the energy being consumed from the grid. The menu systems have also had a face lift which is fantastic. I think the firmware update requires better filtering, alerts and scheduling. Example, when you download the firmware you already need to know the model number. It would be great to have it auto select or have an option to. Notifications for new firmware would be welcome and a time to schedule the firmware (like at night)

Great to monitor solar production
I agree with another review that this is an app "written by engineers for engineers". It's not a user friendly app, but one for the power-user to see some of the more detailed stats from the inverter.
I have a Tesla Powerwall which provides all the user friendly summary data I need. I use iSolarCloud exclusively to see the current generated on each of the 3 independent strings coming into the inverter. The chart is great, I can see how much each roof face is generating throughout the day, and it works perfectly for me for that purpose.

Poor Quality App
App has always been glitchy with data, but when Sungrow updated the firmware last week, I no longer have ability to see power flow within the app.
Although the app shows power generation, I no longer have visibility on how much has been taken by the battery, the house and then exported to the grid.
No answers online or luck playing around with settings in the app. Very frustrating.

Unable to Configure Tariff in Australia
I have just had solar panels installed. I am enjoying the app and especially like the overview tab which is intuitive and easy to understand. Straight away we have been able to make changes to our consumption which will save us even more money, such as setting the hot water timer to heat during the day instead of overnight where we would have been paying from the grid instead of using the solar power.
My one disappointment is that I cannot accurately configure the tariff. I am in Australia and although there is option to choose AUD, the app does not have enough fields to enter the tariffs required. I can enter the feed in tariff ok, however for the consumption tariff my energy company has different rates for Monday to Fridays, Public Holidays and weekends but there is nowhere to enter this. Also there is nowhere to put the daily charge. If the developers could update this, it would be a great app

Farcical
As I look through the reviews - it’s the same story repeated over and over. In fact it’s the same when in contact with any of the sungrow technicians or engineers from australia. Horrendous support - in fact borderline non existent. I’m almost certain this operation is managed by children. Unfortunately a great product let down by poor user interface with what appears to be zero development in the year I’ve own it. No effort appears to have been made to improve issues in the time(approx 1yr) I’ve been a user. Considering the exorbitant costs of installing a solar and battery - as a customer, This app which is supposed to help compute pay back period (amongst other things, which are also inadequately programmed) does not even have a field for daily supply charge. If you’re looking for a well designed and supported app that displays system performance consistently and accurately then avoid this software like the plague. A real shame to be honest.

Good app. Fonts are too small
This is mostly a good app. A couple of things would make it much better. Firstly, not many people can read the battery percentage and other numbers on the diagram. I have to take a photo and zoom in. Please make the text size bigger. Secondly, if I look at yesterdays graph, it doesn’t give me totals of energy paid into grid, purchased energy etc. Just the graph.

Works fine
The installer had to help me set this up, first time I made a mess of it and he had to ring the app people, in the UK I think, but once we got it installed it seems to work fine. It gives real time information on how much your solar panels are generating, revenue from selling back into the grid, and should tell me any faults.

Bad UI design
The app looks okay, but the battery percentage is unreadable unless I use the iPhone zoom functionality.
So I thought, ok I’ll use it on the iPad. Well the app isn’t designed for iPads. So, maybe I’ll just login to the site on the iPad. Well the battery percentage isn’t sized to fit inside the battery icon (it overflows).
I think whoever is in charge of the app design needs to do a better job hiring an actual UI/UX dev.

Far from 5 Stars
Our "Today Yield" and "Today Revenue" hasn't reset for ages and is just accumulating. Also the "E-Use" hasn't functioned for weeks which grossly puts out the revenue as it is putting all as revenue not just the Feed In amounts. Have raised this with service but nothing gets fixed.
Also the numbers are so small and the orange is very hard to read. The Fronius app is much better unfortunately

Seems fit for purpose to me!
From what I see the main application for this type of app is to monitor your solar production vs household consumption and indicate grid feed in. People seem to be focused on the feed-in numbers which to me is totally irrelevant when I pay .30c per kw/h from the grid and only get 0.06c per kw/h feed-in tariff.
Use the app to best use the solar power generated on your home and forget the graph delays.
I actually got very well known monitoring app as I was advised this was far better (they offer a 30day free trial for certain inverters) - I found it to be not so and deleted it and went back to isolarcloud after 1 day.

Appalling support
The app is actually better than many have indicated and it has been improved. However, as the purpose of the app (and/or web interface) is to essentially to track production, consumption and provide alerts when any of these fail they should be dealt with as a matter of priority. My app first stopped alerting me altogether, now has wiped all historical alerts, and doesn’t display total yield or usage during the day. I have rung and logged a case as well as leaving feedback twice through the app with no reply on any for over a month. I have also proactively uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. If this also fails to get their attention then you have to question buying their product.

A good start but needs more work
The graphic display of power flow is inaccurate and does not show correct flows between grid, solar and home. Since this is a primary function of the app it should be accurate and reliable which is not currently the case.
Some of the parameter labelling and that of curves is also inaccurate which may be a translation thing. For example the default curve display is DC power and Active power. To be correct Active power should be relabelled AC Power.

Not working
Not working properly. Even though my solar system us set up to WiFi correctly, and set up from the energy providers end correctly - the app is not showing me the split of how much electricity is going to my home and how much to the grid. It also says "no meter data available" when everything is set up correctly. I've been asking for this to be fixed since install nearly a year ago.

Couple of improvements will make it great
It’s not a bad app. The biggest feature missing is real time display of the solar production. As it is, I believe the data is refreshed every 5-15 mins. I would like to see real-time data to be on par with other apps.
Secondly - the data curves are great, but the default colour of yellow to display the second variable is a weird choice, because yellow against a white background is very difficult to see.

App closing immediately
Hi , please fix the issue of app closing down automatically and immediately after its open. Its a great app and provide lot of information. But after the recent upgrade its shutting down by its self once open.

Boring GUI and lagging data
The setup of the wan connection went smooth. I recently installed the grid/load meter. Happy that this worked without any configuration. I was looking for another app as I find the app to be dull to look at. Also noticed the live data is not so live but anywhere from 5-15 minutes lagging. Hopefully a future firmware upgrade will fix this.

Noob first impression
Just had my new solar + battery installed yesterday. First thing that strikes me is that there only seems like there is one place where the charge level of the battery is displayed, which is in the graphic and the text is too small to read. The graph with Grid, PV, Battery, load is interesting, would be good to be able to see them separately too. Overall seems to show lots of info, which will make more sense when I have more data. Good work!

Not a bad app but could def have improvements.
The app itself is fine, haven’t really had any issues. Although more frequent updates from the inverter through the wifi network would make it heaps better, the reading you see on the app is can sometimes be 15mins behind. The trend/graph colours used to be real good and were transparent which would allow you to see where the PV and Grid were always sitting... but have since changed several times now the colour of the load covers everything so it’s impossible to see the rest. Fixing these 2 issues would give the app far more stars. Plus in the settings you should be able to choose the different coloured type of trends that have been used in the past!!

Good one
I downloaded this app yesterday and was scratching my head for the wifi connection for a while, why such complex setup in an easy going world? I felt sorry for the developers and designers of this app for instance. I didn’t understand why this app wanted me keep connected to the inverter’s network SSID whenever I opened this app which cut my internet connection. That made a bad first impression on this app. But then after a day, I opened this app again and it started asking me to do the setup again which I did anyway. And this time it went all smooth. After the setup, it stopped asking me connect to inverter’s SSID again and all working good. Though it needs a bit of improvement with respect to editing the information already provided, it looks good to me now. Still, I don’t understand why it did not do its job on day one which really frustrated me after spending more time on it. Expecting to see more good updates and bug fixes and improvements from the developers to keep this app cool and running as expected.
