Good App, but Profile Management Needs Work

When I pause a profile, the devices assigned to that profile can still access the internet. To actually block internet access, I have to pause each device individually, which defeats the purpose of having profiles.

Glitchy and paywalls

These devices are some of the most expensive on the market, the fact they then try to force an expensive subscription WITH IT is absurd. They block access to half the features behind the paywall and the stuff you are allowed to utilise is clunky. Particularly the ‘live usage’ which only works 20% of the times. It’s absolutely infuriating.

Not a serious networking app at all

I have two eero networks. One of the eero networks went down with a red light and likely has no internet connectivity due to a weather related dropout so i went on the app to diagnose the issue. Because i have two networks that I am an admin on I must switch between these two networks… Which i cannot do without an internet connection. This is a silly bug.

Cannot change Wifi Channels Eero 6

This app (or the eero mesh as the case may be) has extremely limited functionality. The Eero mesh routers have no other option to configure them.

In a mesh configuration with wired backbone, one central router and two mesh slaves ALL three only choose channels 1 and 149 even though channel 1 at 40% utilisation and a large number of other networks around using it with high BSSI in the location is clearly a bad choice. Channel 6 is empty at all three locations. There is no configuration option for channels.

It seems odd that all three choose the same channels. There’s a lot of congestion from the 3 mesh routers themselves on the one channel even in my home. Older devices (LIFX, tuya) only connect on 2.4 and don’t allow steering. They won’t connect despite the router only 2m away.

The routers take forever to reboot. Setup requires active and working wired internet or will be stuck before getting to wifi settings. There’s no reason not to be able to configure wifi / wired without any internet connection.

A subscription is required (at 160$ per year) to even look at this information.

It needs an active router with active internet connection to remove it.

It would benefit from:

- sufficient functionality for a mesh configuration

- at least basic channel selection and per router (automatic may be an option)

- selectable channel widths for 2.4Ghz

- charging a ludicrous subscription price for the most basic functionality for $700 router set that over the average 5 year lifetime at 800$ would be more than 3 routers is unacceptable and is not disclosed when purchasing routers

Absolutely appalling from start to finish so far. I have had nbn come out and set up and then got modem. Modem will not set up and customer support are unprofessional just saying I can’t hear you multiple times ( don’t know why I am on a 5g network with full signal. ?????

Earlier spent 2 hours on the phone to them and their customer service is appalling. No manager to speak to be transferred to. If I knew this is what they were like I would have gone with another provider. Talked into it from a company stating they are Australia owned and been around a while and good service not in my personal experience.

Limited functionality

Latest update has a utility to scan devices for week signals. Yet I cannot find it. I have a 1000/100mbps service.

The Eero network won’t run any faster than 120/90 mbps and I’m trying to work out which devices are slow and how to place them so they better work.

Or is this a part of the paid service? If so, not a good look that you have to pay to get optimum performance from a network.

Now worked out issue seems good

Had issue with my console, the speed and upload would be terrible, after talking with isp and eero both blamed console, turned out by me figuring out issue, that if turned security features of, in the app security section, it sorted problem of speed and upload, now I just turn them off before gaming and then on after done.

It says there’s an update available, but as soon I click to install now, nothing happens, instead, I get the message: “ Success! Your network is up to date.”

Ridiculous UI Update !

Instead of improving and making it easier to read, you made it harder to read !! Hire a proper graphic designer to help you with improving the visibility and making those tabs/tables stand out, distinguishing from white background ! As it is, it’s all very washed out ! And to make it even worse, you match the shade in the text too - how dumb ! Still no Channel options ?

Very nice clear instruct

I deal with dyslexia and ADHD, and these instructions are very nicely formulated, with images that come with instructions through the app. And when I’m stuck, it gives me a prompt to click for clarification, which is very nice to have. Really good experience overall.

The requirement for an app and an online account made setting up my NBN wi-fi unnecessarily complicated and is taking up storage space that my phone can’t spare. And of course they tried to sign me up to marketing emails. An app wouldn’t be complete without that feature. 🙄

Keeps crashing

The app keeps crashing after about 1 second. Completely useless. Rang Aussie Braodband and they had no solution for this only to uninstall and reinstall.

App was running great through setup of the modem, but the minute I was done it crashed and I haven’t been able to keep it open for more than 4 seconds at a time. Not the most useful app in the world at the moment. Hopefully the next update will fix this issue.

Not trustworthy

Easy to use BUT the lack of tools to analyse the ungodly amount of malware and phishing attempts that is detected is not helpful. You cannot figure out what is causing these malicious attempts and therefore you CANT take the necessary security steps to prevent them! The app just says it gets blocked... Will be switching away from the eero ecosystem very soon 1/5

Glitchy login

The login experience is quite glitchy on iOS. It doesn’t have any user feedback on pressing the login arrow, so I tapped it a few times and then my account was locked and I now have to call them.

Also had problems renaming my wifi, and then the app and the devices were out of sync (devices broadcasting old name), and app showing new name

Some strange limitations.

Okay, so my internet is down. The eero is up, but the wired internet is offline. I'm connected to my eero via the app. It shows me I'm offline. It tells me some functionality is limited. I get that.…

I dig into the gateway device knowing I can restart these things from within the app. I want to see if that will help reconnect me to the internet.

But no. Apparently I need the internet to be able to restart my eero device from within the app I'm currently using to connect to my eero with.

WHY? If this command can be issued to my device from the other side of the world, why can't I do it from within the app? You went to all the trouble of giving me a screen that explains how to unplug and reply my eero… instead of just making it so I could restart from within the app.

This needs fixing.

Considering the price of these devices, you would expect basic functionality would be available to the user, but the greed of this company has locked some features like ddns behind the top tier paywall.

I wouldn’t recommend eero to anyone. Nor will I be considering this brand when upgrading.

Brilliant app and product

I received my 3-pack a few days ago. Set up was super easy. To my surprise only the router was enough to cover the entire house. The device has been working without a glitch for over one week. The app is simple to use. I am glad I chose this over Google nest which is wifi 5. I highly recommend this product.

WiFi nirvana

eero has managed to make the experience of WiFi mesh magically simple. It just works. This is one of my favourite apps, which is weird, because it should be quite a boring product (or at worst, frustrating — like the Telstra Smart Modem app, RIP). But it’s great. Everything you need, and nothing you don’t.

Goodbye ISP Modem/Router

I just received my eero 3-pack, and what a piece of cake to install and get up and running. Disconnect ISP supplied box, connect eero to NBN FTTC connection box and away we go. So simple to set up and plenty of information available. It was harder to get some of the Smarthome devices to change wifi network than it was to set this up. Couldn’t be happier!!

Why is this App available in Australia but you can’t use it without an American phone number?

Get it off the Australian App Store. Apps like these flood the store so we can’t find services that actually work here.
