A steaming pile of garbage - do NOT buy books from Dymocks as you simply won’t receive them.
I had to get a refund on my first and last book purchase from Dymocks as the app doesn’t work and the download process doesn’t work. The staff know the app doesn’t work yet Dymocks still encourages customers to download it.

Don’t buy ebooks from Dymocks!!!!!
This app is the worst e-reader ever, it’s just not possible to login as it always pops up errors. This is just absolutely terrible!!! You need to have an external account from Adobe!!! to read books, otherwise you just won’t be able to login!!! I bought a book and spent 1,5 hours trying to login and I still can’t! This app should be removed from the App Store as it doesnt comply with Apple quality standards, this app is just not working

App does not work
Cannot log in keeps bringing up message server issues. Tried using other option of adobe digital editions and words on the page take hours to load, and completely random chapters are visible and others are not - so no point. Have purchased paper version after 4/5 frustrating hours working out how to read my ebook. Complete waste of time and money.

Terrible app. Words are blurry and hard to read.
I purchased an ebook textbook for uni. The ereader app is so blurry it’s hard to see the text. It takes a while to load and sometimes crashes halfway through reading. Will never purchase an ebook from Dymocks again. Disappointing considering a lot of people prefer to keep their books online or on a kindle.

This is a terrible terrible app! I get white pages but none of the words load, a book with no words is not what I paid money for….I can’t seem to download it to read in Adobe now, so I’m stuck with blank white pages!
Grrrrr, it worked once and I put the book down for 5 minutes and now it’s blank pages again…if I paid for it I should be able to download it and read it externally whenever I like! Grrrrrrrr

Hi,
Just thought I would write this. I have had this app on my iPad since Christmas 2 years ago and haven’t had a problem, but recently I had to clear my iPad to reboot and since then I’ve not been able to get back on to the app. It keeps saying “Unable to connect to server. Please try again later.” I have also just recently put the app on my phone and it says the exact same thing…
Please help!!!!!! Is it the new update that is doing this????? Because I am connected to internet all day on my iPad and mobile….

Doesn’t load!
Do not purchase eBooks though Dymocks. The app doesn’t load at all and is useless. The only other way to read the eBook is through Adobe and that app is just as bad. None of the pages load correctly and is impossible to read. I’ve now had to try and get a refund on the eBook I purchased.

Do not buy ebooks from Dymocks
This app is frankly the worst ereading experience I have ever come across and I have just about used them all.
Firstly the purchase of an book gives you two options to use either the app or adobe special editions. None of this is communicated to you in advance. If you choose one you can’t use the other, such a clunky setup.
The app, where do I start, it is not useful for any book of technical nature whatsoever in terms of how it presents. The table of contents is clunky and so poorly laid out, you have to drag all the way to the start to use the inbook table of contents. If you wanted to listen to any text say if you are driving then not only do you get only the horrible mechanical voice but you can only highlight text and play that not whole chapters or sections. It also goes right to the edges of the screen so if you have a notch like the iPhone does then you can read the top of the text.
I seriously hope Dymocks didn’t pay a lot of money for app this as they were either ripped off or don’t care about the quality of the product. Seriously bad, avoid at all costs!

I don’t know how Dymocks can 1. Provide an app that is not fit for purpose; 2. Charge almost as much for an e book as a hard copy; or 3. Essentially force you to use their product to read a book published by a third party. A year after people pointed out that the most basic features such as holding your place in the book are absent, Dymocks has yet to address the issue. This is a matter for the ACCC .

Might as well get robbed
Purchased an essential ebook for my studies. I was preparing myself for a bad experience but this seriously went beyond my expectations. The app would not let me stay on the pages that I want to read and keeps on going back to chapter table of contents.If I keep going back it would just crash on me completely. At first it was just mildly annoying. But as my deadline looms for an assessment, I am slowly coming to the realisation that I might need to purchase a physical copy of the book after all. Absolute waste of money.

Terrible app
Bought an Ebook from Dymocks and have wasted my money because every time I swipe back to re read a page it takes me back to the beginning of the chapter and I have to manually swipe through every page to go forward. Extremely frustrating. Won’t be purchasing again.

Do not buy eBooks from Dymocks
It’s probably too late. You’ve already bought a book or, like me, been given a voucher by a thoughtful person who knows you love books. Jesus, this ereader app is the absolute worst. I’d read the reviews and was prepared for the fact that you lose your page whenever the app reloads but now the reader only lets me go back to page 271 no matter how I try swiping the thingy at the bottom to the right page or manually swiping ahead 30 or so pages. Always goes back to 271. Don’t do it. You’ll just have to buy the book again somewhere else.

I find this app terrible to use
The text at the top of the app extend past my screen. Turning back a page, whether swiping or tapping, results in being returned to the start of the chapter.
This is awful. I will not make the mistake of purchasing an ebook from Dymocks again.

Can’t download ebooks
Purchased an ebook, downloaded the app to access it, app won’t connect to the servers so I can’t access my ebook, as soon as I signed into the app it removed the option to download to PC from the website so now I’m fighting to get my money refunded. Remove this horrible app and allow downloads to Apple Books! Don’t waste your money on Dymocks. Very frustrating!

Amazing App Wide Range Of Books But...

I would have given this app 5 stars but I have recently come upon an issue that disables me from reading my books.
I have purchased the White Rose and the Black Key by Amy Ewing a while ago and there have been no problems when I read them and re-read them. I am re-reading them again now and have just finished the White Rose, but when I went to go open the Black Key it glitched out of the app. This happens every time I press the read button, and now I can’t finish my series. Could you please do something about this and fix the bug, this is literally the only thing I’ve had an issue with on this app.

Terrible most annoying dreaded ever
Don’t buy ebooks from Dymocks if you have to use this. It Doesn’t save your page if you close the app you have to search through the book to find your space even if you have used the book mark. If you touch the surface of the device to turn the page in the vicinity of the app position on your screen it shuts down and you have to search for your space. Make sure you only read in full chapters and remember your chapter number as this is the only way to use this app. Won’t be buying any more ebooks from Dymocks.

Difficult
I couldn’t open my Dymocks ebook on my ereader as I could only access it with this app. Now the app won’t let me log in. I know my user name and password but there isn’t any way to reset it to try to get it to work. Please fix this app.

Dreadful experience
Crashed 3 times within 1 min (and that includes time needed to reopen after each crash). Login boxes fall off the edge of the screen, book text has no margins. Won’t be buying an eBook from Dymocks again!

Frustrating
If you forget to bookmark your last page read its very frustrating having to try snd find where you left off. It would be great if the app took you the correct page.
Given the number of e-reader options out there I’m reluctant to use this one .

Appalling ereader I want my money back on the books I purchased
Let’s start with, page turning doesn’t work.
There is no “search” function - which is in the iPad edition but has dodgy results.
The menu item for additional functions is one black line and you have to guess where to hit for the different features.
This app is so so bad it should never have been approved by Apple.
Back to the drawing board Dymocks. I’m back to Apple iBooks

Annoying ereader
It would be much easier if you could open the ebook you purchase with another app that someone’s put time into making sure works.
When I search through the book on Dymocks’ ereader it only takes me to beginning of the chapter, not a specific page. Also the app doesn’t save your progress if it closes (e.g. if your tablet restarts) so you have to go through the book again and find your place.
If there were any other way to read an ebook from Dymocks I would do that, but would definitely not recommend buying ebooks from them.

Worst app
Doesn’t save my bookmark, whenever i go into the app it takes me to the very first book marked i ever used at the beginning of the book. I’ve tried unmarking it but every time it still returns to the same page.
Also consistently crashes. Would not recommend.

Have you read a book?
I think whoever designed the app is a different to the person who made the app because I know that coding requires words which thus implies the ability to read and probably that someone who can read has probably read/seen A BOOK! imagine that.
What I tried to read a book I PAID FOR I mistakenly thought I could read it in a linear fashion! Silly me right? Nope because let’s go back to the start of the chapter! Yay! Why would anyone want to read the previous page? That would be ludicrous!

No issues for me
Purchased an eBook online downloaded and logged into the app and was able to read my book without any issues.
My only critique was there was no facility to lookup a word like there is in other popular ereaders. That would be an amazing addition to the app. Couldn’t highlight text either. Bit limited in functionality whilst reading but I had no problems finding the book I’d purchased or reading it.

I only just downloaded it but freaked out when I read the reviews as I had already bought the books. Though the reviews are old so just leaving a note, I’ve had no issue. I downloaded the app, logged in, my purchased books (15 mins prior) where listed, I pressed the download button, they downloaded quickly and I have been able to open and navigate through them all. Should do the job just fine.

Better to Use ADE
I recently purchased an e-book I needed for an essay at university- first time I’ve done this.
Before I bag the app, I will commend the Dymocks staff for their help. I can’t speak for others but they replied to my email a couple days later (my ebook originally didn’t appear in the library) and a tech guy helped me set it up with another e reader (ADE). This was all very well done.
However, the dymocks e reader itself is less than functional from my experience and honestly it’s probably more worthwhile using ADE (Adobe Digital Edition). The reason the ebook may not appear in the library is because the ebook may not be transferred after purchase in the first place (which was what happened to me). This can hopefully be rectified by emailing the staff.
However, I honestly think Dymocks should provide a functional app. This app has their brand name in it and it can be very frustrating for some people. Even with their help, I still had had issues with ADE because of authorisation or whatever. The app crashed within ten seconds once my ebook was in the library- I didn’t download it cause I knew it wouldn’t work.
It has been a frustrating process and it does make me reluctant to purchase an ebook from them again- should it be this frustrating. Luckily, my experience with their assistance was great but unfortunately the app isn’t up to par.
Do not expect great results from this.

Horrible
Logs out constantly, doesn't remember last book or page, difficult to navigate to a specific page... Overall just plain bad.
I received an eBook as a present, purchased from Dymock's. The only way to read it? This dodgy app. The other problem? I didn't purchase the book myself so it's not saved under my account - so the person who did purchase it for me has to log me in via their account whenever I want to read it.
IMHO the purchased book should be available to download to whichever format suits the reader, instead of this crappy (also for the extra reasons mentioned above) app. I'm lead to believe that the sales staff didn't inform of the requirement to have the app or how it works (thanks guys!). Also the eBook cost as much as the real thing does.
Horrible system of doing things compounded by a horrible app. Give me a good old fashioned hardcover any day!

Bookmarking and login process needs improvement
Seems like a good app so far. However, it's very annoying when it has an expiration time on each session meaning you have to log back in each time. Also, it should have memory as to which page I left open.. I shouldn't have to click into another tab to then select the page.. THEN remove the "bookmark"
I suggest you have auto bookmarking and a separate feature to save a page or segment that the reader likes.
