Version 3.19.4
I’ve been very excited to start using MoneyBrilliant. I have just made the switch from Pocketbook, and it seems to flow and work a lot better. All bank transactions have synced very fast so far and the auto-categorising feature is very accurate.
The only downside so far is that I can’t seem to make my own categories for categorising transactions which is a massive pain. I have only used this app on mobile though. Please let me know if there is a way of making custom categories.

This app could be fantastic, but honestly the monthly budget and forecasting is a mess. I’ve got transactions showing up from June in September. Apparently as a student I’m earning 65k and running a deficit of 71k. So some serious problems.

This app didn’t suit my needs, so I deleted it.
Despite unsubscribing from their emails about 5 times now and emailing customer support (which was futile, as they didn’t have my address on record!) I’m continuously receiving emails to this day.
Do not download unless you want to be hounded with emails.

Great product but you need to try it to see how it fits in your toolkit. It is a great tool to track to specific goals and your spending. Connects to various types of accounts well, better than others, and helps you manage your money.

It’s a good app but it’s lacking the option of manually enter the dates for your budget cycle. My credit card statement doesn’t end on the last day of every month so it would be good to have this option like pocketbook does.

Whilst changing categories the app crashes. And whilst still attempting to change categories I need to repeat my steps as it won’t change to the different category I choose so I’m going back and forth to correct this. For the money they’re asking for subscription I expected more, lucky I’m on a trial, time to try different app that is up to 30% cheaper annually.

Was looking at this app as a replacement for my current personal finance app but after downloading it I found the IOS version is not optimised for iPad until this app provides an iPad version as well as iPhone version it would not consider it. There is nothing worse than having to use an iPhone specific app on an iPad.

Really enjoying using this one, insights are cool and the budgeting works nicely. My only gripe is that the free version doesn’t allow you to show all assets, instead you always open the app to a visual that doesn’t actually reflect your net worth. If you can add that one addition, you’ve got five stars from me..

Version 3.15.5
We just recently downloaded it as we found out we were overspending. With the pressures of a big mortgage and three young children we knew we had to cut back but couldn’t work out where all of our money was going. This app has helped us categorise our transactions, set up a budget and even track our tax receipts. It really has helped us show what we don’t need to be spending money on and what we can cut down.

The user experience is a bit lacking. It keeps showing me all goals even though I only chose three, and the home screen is pretty irrelevant. A shame because I think the functionality is really good this could be an excellent money managing app for Australians with a bit of a rethink of the UI.

Version 3.15.5
I’ve spent the last month running MoneyBrilliant & Frollo side by side. MoneyBrilliant is better in terms of depth of category choice, it even lets you create your own sub categories. However there’s a lot of aspects to MoneyBrilliant that get on your nerves. Firstly, the home screen is so pointless. Some nonsense about “safe spending” across the whole year. This is where Frollo is better, the summary screen focuses more on the month you’re in. Summary of what’s gone in, what’s gone out. And other more relevant data to the month you’re in like bills paid, bills coming up summary. The navigation of MoneyBrilliant is also quite clunky & hard to get used to. However overall I can’t say it’s worse than Frollo, as although Frollo is neater & easier to use, MoneyBrilliant has great category choices, Frollo’s are really poor & limited. But my biggest gripe with MoneyBrilliant, is the fact it forces you to include loans in the same main category as mortgages. So I have a car loan that I have no choice but to include with my mortgage payments which is plain stupid. This issue doesn’t exist with Frollo, as Loans is a separate category to mortgages. So really if you could combine these 2 apps together then you’d have a great financial app. But MoneyBrilliant has many flaws & so does Frollo.

Very frustrating

Version 3.15.4
Has a really good spread of categories and very good at categorising and I like that you amend expected budget each month where known large/lesser spends are coming.
Would really like to see a feature that Pocketbook has: where to start the month for those on monthly salaries. 1st-30/31st doesn’t work so well with those paid mid month.
Annoying that the tag for tax claims is only on the free trial/paid version and that this app is constantly trying to shove ‘better’ banking products down your throat when it doesn’t understand that some debts are 0% balance transfers.

Version 3.15.4
Has a lot of great features but the biggest downfall is that even when you’ve linked all YOURE accounts - it still takes days to upload or update itself on the app. Sometimes it takes 2-3days &’in this fast lifestyle with all my direct debits payments, it’s just not convenient enough to buy premium. Save your money unless they fix this

The sync feature is a great time saver, in comparison to other apps where you have to manually enter everything in. However the app itself is just so complicated and hard to figure out. Would be great if it was user friendly and simple to use. I’ve had to give up on it as I cannot figure it out.

Shortly after I linked up my accounts with the app I received and email and subsequent phone call from my bank saying I’ve violated the terms and conditions and had to remove any third parties apps (MoneyBrilliant) from linking to them. Version 3.15.4
I’ve tried almost all the auto-syncing apps available to the Australian market, and I believe this one is the best for the following reasons:
- auto-categorisation works better than all the competitors
- ability to add rules (though this only sometimes works)
- largest sync sources I’ve seen (even syncs with things like Raiz and Super accounts)
- overview of accounts, category spending etc is excellent.
Previous speed issues:
I had some issues with speed, taking ages to change categories etc but this seems to be resolved now so updating my review score accordingly.
Where this app falls short:
- can’t add notes to transactions. Big feature hole here.
- cant categorise accounts. For example, If I use a transaction account for savings, I should be able to set that so it’s balance applies to my savings accounts.
- I have to constantly scroll past the “optimise my banking” tab to get to the “manage my spending” tab. Optimise is used every now and then, so why make it so prominent?
Other than all of this, it’s a great app and I’ll probably keep using it. Fix those few issues and I’d rate it 5 without hesitation.

Version 3.15.2
This app does an amazing job of consolidating my view across all my accounts. For the first time I’ve been able to see across all the families accounts and also know where our spending is going across spending categories. The auto allocation of spending transactions to categories is probably this apps strongest selling point, allowing me to just look at the spending and not having to do the categorisation

Version 3.15.2
I use an iPad. It has a keyboard/stand which can only be used in landscape mode. Pretty stock standard offering from Apple yet Money Brilliant only works in Portrait mode. This is 101 Development...
There are several issues I have with the application irrespective of the platform such as duplicate entries, account support etc but that isnt specific to the Apple app.
I suspect that despite the response from the developers claiming that most of their users are “mobile” users that a lot of them would be ipad users.

Very happy with this app. I tried many and this was the only one which offered my bank, which is a smaller Australian bank.
The support is good. Videos etc to show you through the more complex parts, and a wide array of FAQ.
It would awesome if you could put in weekly/fortnightly expenses in a future version. I spent a while figuring out how many pays a get per month and how that affects the monthly budget.
It did take a while to set the budget up, BUT time very well spent.
Thanks Money Brilliant ☺️

I just use the basic features to track incoming and outgoing. I love categorizing my transactions and being able to see how much I’ve improved. I love how I get told my average daily spend for the month compared to other months. I have used this app for about 3 years.
Things I wish the app would improve in are that I would like to being able to add notes to my transactions, I also use Pocketbook and that has that option. Also, the transactions are held as ‘pending ’ for a hell of a long time.
The main downside to this app, and for me it’s significant, is that at least 50% of the time when I open the app it states that it’s ‘Reestablishing network connection, please hold on’. This error lasts for DAYS. I have tried reinstalling, updates, contacting the help desk. Nothing helps. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason. It’s super frustrating.
