I've watched Skyfall several times already and noticed every time that the music always perfectly complemented whatever the scene was - and now I know Thomas Newman is the one responsible for all that brilliance! He's managed to capture the film incredibly well in each track. My personal favourites are Voluntary Retirement, Jellyfish, Quartermaster, Granborough Road and She's Mine, but of course it's hard to pick favourites amongst 31 equally fantastic tracks. 5/5 stars!

When I first heard that David Arnold wouldn't be composing the score for Skyfall, I was disappointed to say the least. Sam Mendes had decided to stick with his regular collaborator Thomas Newman. I wasn't a Newman fan at all, but I do have his score for The Adjustment Bureau, so I was almost determined not to like this. But in the end I decided to roll the dice and preorder.

Well I'm glad I did! At first listen I wasn't impressed, but after a few more it grew on me. Although there are a few stand out tracks, this is one of those scores that is better listened to from beginning to end. It also works well as ambient music for work and so on.
